Chapter Text
"You're warm."
"I should hope so, Terra." Sun sleepily murmured, head gently tilting to the side, and sinking deeper into his pillow. "I am your star."
"Not down here you're not." Earth grumbled into his fluffy pjama's, pressing his face closer into the soft fabric he'd insisted Sun wear. Even if said star was now better used to the freezing temperatures of "Summer". He still liked being as hot as possible, with the heating blasting and a mountain of blankets.
An absolutely wonderful creation by the Earthlings.
"Shh." The star leaned his head down, just enough to press a kiss onto those lovely curls– smiling into the skin when he felt a pleased shiver ripple through the body in his arm. "You'll wake up your moon."
Said 'moon' was dozing in his other arm, half his face pressed into the star's chest while the arm not squished between the two was loosely thrown over the Sun's middle. He roused when mentioned, but the Sun was quick to settle him back down with a nuzzle and pat on the back. He smiled sleepily to himself. Still got it.
"Luna could sleep through a me-quake if he wanted to." Earth murmured, voice drooping steadily. Sun pretended not to notice his planet was falling asleep, running a steady hand over his back. Just like the person he used to be before, this version of his baby loved back rubs as well. "He's a heavy sleeper..." Earth yawned.
Sun hummed in reply. "I'm sure he could." He agreed, not agreeing one bit. "He must be able to do so to sleep through your lectures."
Earth weakly shoved his ribs. Sun didn't even feel it. "Rude."
"Your last lecture about bees was tedious, Earth."
"You're just jealous." The planet continued to still answer stubbornly despite sleep calling at him, unknowingly rubbing his cheek onto Sun's chest again. The star was all too happy to let him, resuming the back rubs once Earth settled. "Cause you don't have bees."
"Uranus cried." Those little creatures, as important as they were, sure seemed to enjoy bringing misery to other life forms. Sun could respect it on some level. Born just to be menaces to society. Like his four rocky planets.
"That was a wasp, not a bee." Earth opened his heavy eyes to glare, as if offended the Sun couldn't differentiate every single species on his surface after his previous rant about the creatures. Sun huffed, looking away. He'd been recovering, give him a break. "An Eastern Yellow Jacket to be exact."
"Sh't'p ab't whsps..." Luna grumbled, half asleep, much to their amusement. Earth giggled softly while Sun smiled, leaning down to kiss the little moon's head. "mmm t'rdd of them..."
Earth scoffed, personally offended. "Betrayed by my own moon." He mourned, dramatically holding a hand to his head. "Stabbed in the back. Left to bleed out."
Luna glared at him.
"I will never recover."
A tiny hand swatted the Earth's one away when he tried to grab him. Oh dear... yeah, that checked out. Theia never liked being woken up either. "Enough." Sun stretched his arms, a little sore from having been folded for so long. Groaning with relief when the joints at both sides of his shoulders gave a satisfying pop. "Both of you."
"Can you not?" Luna complained, a little more awake now, trying to slide off Sun's shoulder. He ended up cuddling more against his soft belly instead, letting out a contented hum. "That's gross."
"I find it quite relaxing."
"Grandpa."
"Your Earthling concepts confuse me." A 'grandpa' was a step in the Earthling family trees, that he knew... but he forgot which one. Regardless, wouldn't that make him Earth's dad instead? He liked that title far better. And he was still twenty galactic years old! He was in his prime!
The star let out a big yawn, tilting his head towards his pillow again because he couldn't cover his mouth with his hands, smacking his lips. Hm... he was sleepy. And not the ohmystars my body is immobile tiredness, thankfully. No, the tiredness from simply being on Earth's night side instead of day.
He was honored the Earthlings chose Sun to remain awake. But it did make him feel bad for Luna- the night was so beautiful as well. He hoped the little moon knew that.
"Bees are far nicer than wasps." Earth, for whatever reason, found the energy to continue. Even if he slowly dropped more and more of his weight onto his star. Sun rubbed a circle against his spine, humming. "I like bees. They make honey. And don't have to die for it."
"Bed, Terra." The little planet's face was cupped and pressed onto his neck, exactly in range for the Sun to press kisses onto his forehead against. Earth took the love happily, leaning his head against his warm lips whenever he received one. Silently asking for more. "You're almost completing a rotation."
"You're warm, Sunny." Earth sighed happily, warm breath puffing onto his colarbone. Sun, with a pleased smile, tapped his chin onto the smaller's curls.
"I should hope so." He murmured again. For a moment, feeling an old, but familiar weight in both his arms instead. "I'm the Sun."
"Bees like warmth..." Sun snorted at the comment, biting his lip to stiffle his laugh. It appears he'd discovered Earth's favorite Earthling of the week. Last week it had been pinguins. "The blue orchard bees emerge during Spring..."
Spring was the season before Summer, the star remembered. That sounded freezing, but what did the Sun know? "Bed, Terra."
The room became blissfully quiet.
Sun sighed with contentment, a lazy smile spreading on his lips. By pulling the little bodies closer he found that Luna had already passed out, body limp in his hold. He lightly scratched behind the little moon's ear, grinning with victory when the smallest nuzzled into the touch. His other hand trailed from Earth's hair to his back again, resuming to rub those circles in a patern he knew the planet loved.
"....Sun?" Earth slurred, stubbornly opening his heavy eyes again. Sun almost thought he had something meaningful to say until those next words left his mouth. "You would be a Endothermic bee."
"That's great, Earth." Oh, if only Gaia and Theia could have met the little one's they'd left behind. They would have loved them for sure.
"Cause they're hot..." Sun smiled sadly at the little bundle in his arm, pressing a final kiss between those tiny eyes as they slipped shut. "And y're h't..."
"Of course I am." Murmured the star in reply, closing his own eyes. The warmth of the two bodies pressing against him meaning far more than his own light ever could. "I am the Sun after all."
