It was prom in a month. Morty really needed to ask Melvin but, he was worried. He knew he would say yes, so he wasn't sure why he was worried. He would ask Melvin later. They could talk about their outfits, maybe that was what was bothering him?
~♡ A few hours later ♡~
"Melvin?" Asked Morty, as he entered their dorm room.
"Yeah?" Melvin replied.
"Do you wanna go to prom with me?"
Melvin blinked. "Well, of course? I thought it was obvious we were gonna go together"
"Yeah, yeah. I just wanted to discuss the suits, y'know?" Morty said.
"Oh, uh, ok. We do have a while though" Melvin stated.
"I know. I was just thinking. Since you like green, maybe you could wear a dark green suit and, since I like blue, I could wear a dark blue suit" Morty suggested.
"That's a great idea! Oh, and we could even wear each others colour tie!" Melvin excitedly added.
"Sure" Morty said, not wanting to let Melvin down. It's not that he didn't want to. It just made his anxiety worse. He just had a bad feeling about the prom photos. He didn't know why.
The following weeks went by quickly. Morty and Melvin picked out their prom outfits. But other than that and the excitement bubbling in the corridors, it was rather uneventful.
~♡ At prom ♡~
Morty was having a great time and completely forgot he was anxious, until it was time for photos. Every year, students would take photos with friends or sometimes dates and it would be sent to their parents.
"I- I don't wanna do photos" Morty said sheepishly.
"What? Why not?" Melvin asked.
"Sorry, I just, I'm worried about my parents, like, if they see it they might know that we're dating, y'know, and I don't think I'm ready to tell them yet" He explained.
"Bro, we don't have to do it if you don't want to, but trust me, there is no way they are gonna know. Plus, if they ever do find out and react badly, you can come live with me. My parents are pretty chill" Melvin reassured him.
"Really?"
"Yeah, for sure man!"
Melvin and Morty ended up taking photos and having a really fun night.
