Kiss Me Slow (Buy Me a New Toaster)

Summary:

The only reasonable reaction to hearing the adoring thoughts of your ethereal girlfriend.

Notes:

I have posted quite a lot of saiteru in a short amount of time, but this is probably the last mostly-written fic I had in my drafts.

Work Text:

Sometimes when she looked at him, countless thoughts rushed through her mind before she could stop them, and she knew he could hear every word.

Sometimes, if Teruhashi had inadvertently struck something sensitive, something tender and, dare she say, vulnerable (sometimes if she thought something like, ‘I want to protect him), Saiki would react physically. He would swallow, or even flush a pale pink. He would struggle not to smile softly, or struggle to look her in the eyes.

On one particularly memorable occasion, he’d accidentally blown up his toaster.

Though every moment with him was memorable, exploding kitchen appliances or otherwise.

It was thoughts like those ones. She could see the tips of his ears redden before he used his cryokinesis to hide it.

Her question came out of nowhere, no thoughts behind it.

“Can I kiss you?”

“Yes,” he said immediately. Suspiciously fast, as though he’d already been thinking about it. As the thought crossed her mind, she saw his expression become slightly embarrassed before he could fix it. How could someone be so cute?

“Stop that.”

She smiled at him, stepping into the personal space he allowed her to share every now and then. “Stop what?”

“You know what.”

She trailed her hands gently up the sides of his neck, his jawline, held his face in her hands. “Admiring you?”

His frown struggled to stay in place. It was a nice try, but it disappeared completely when she kissed it.

‘I really am the luckiest girl in the world,’ she thought, as her thumbs softly traced his cheekbones.

“God loves you way too much,” came the sound of her favorite voice in her head.

For that, she pulled back a little and laughed, before kissing the rest of his face. His cheek, his nose, his forehead, gently beneath his eyes, or at least the frames of his glasses.

‘I love you way too much.’

If she hadn’t been slowly pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth, it was possible she might not have heard the faint exhale.

“Did you just offu?”

The new toaster exploded.
