Work Text:
Cadence and Dove were sitting on the leafy soil of Zone 2, one of Dove's favorite resting spots. Dove seemed to be having fun, while Cadence was hardly keeping it together.
Now, this wasn't because she hated Dove or anything, infact she had developed quite the crush on her. But every time she wanted to make a move, a part of her brain told her that she was about to ruin the friendship she and Dove had together.
Cadence was no stranger to loss, losing both of her parents at just six years old. She wasn't completely alone back then, but it sure felt that way. That was why she held her tounge, she didn't know how she Dove felt, she didn't want to weird her out, she didn't want to lose another person so close to her.
Dove began to look around the zone, taking it all in. "For an evil, ruthless, cold blooded monster, the Necrodancer sure knows how to decorate."
This was something Cadence admired about Dove:her ability to always appreciate the little beauties wherever she found herself, including a crypt.
On rare occasions, she'd try to hint to Dove how she felt. She'd think "Dove is mature, she'd let me know if she was uncomfortable" And go for it. Usually Dove was too oblivious to realize what Cadence was implying. Not the worst outcome, but far from the best. This was one such occasion.
Cadence tried to add some self-awareness to soften the potential blow'"Soooo I know this is a weird question, but have you ever um,*clears throat* kissed someone before?"
"Hmmm... I don't think I have. I know, kind of embarrassing. I'm just waiting for that special someone to make it feel y'know... special."
This surprised Cadence, though maybe that was the case because she wanted to kiss Dove more than anyone.
Cadence tried to get more direct with her response, but that other part of her brain that over thought everything she said made her go from regular speech to barely audible mumbles:"Well maybe...I could...ᵇᵉ... ʸᵒᵘʳ ˢᵖᵉᶜᶦᵃˡ ˢᵒᵐᵉᵒⁿᵉˀ
"Uhh... could you repeat tha-
"N-NOTHING!"
Nice save, Cadence.
