“ Where do you think we go when we die? “
Rui was surprised to hear the sudden words from the pinkette, but thought deeply about it nevertheless.
“ Good question…To be quite frank, I’m not too sure. “ He let out a hollow laugh. “ Maybe there’s not even a place reserved for people like us. “
Mizuki sighed in response, head against the wall. They were on the rooftop, as per usual. This June had been beautiful, so why spend it in class? The wind was perfect, the temperature not too hot and not too cold, much contradictory to how it had been going for the two outcasts.
“ Maybe there’s not even a god above us. Surely life would’ve been better if there were, no? “
Rui responded with only so much as a nod. The two didn’t speak, but they knew they were both thinking the same string of words.
The only place for us is Hell.
Why Hell? Sure, the both had thought and done terrible things. Although, shouldn’t the ones that inflicted this pain onto them be the ones descending into nothingness?
Maybe the twosome was so blinded by this pain that they had swapped the roles of them and their wrongdoers.
The bell rung loudly, but the two had long since gotten used to ignoring it and paying no mind to what they were supposed to do, which was going back to class. It was last period anyways, so might as well skip it.
The sun slowly crept up from behind the fence, causing Mizuki to turn away and brush hands with Rui. Despite that, they still sat in silence, the only sounds between them being their breathing.
They watched the clouds, moving at a steady pace with the soft wind brushing past their skin. It was gorgeous, and almost distracted them from their troubles in the outside world.
Almost. Almost, but not quite.
However, that didn’t mean they’d pass up on the chance to sit up here on the rooftop, gazing at the sky with clouded, disturbed eyes.
“ What if we just killed them? “
Mizuki snickered a bit at the purple’s sudden question. “ Maybe. What do you think the chances of jail being better than death are? “
“ We don’t need to worry about that, I’ll build something, and you’ll be my right hand. “
Despite trying their hardest not to, the companions entered a short laughter. It was nice, they thought, being able to share time with someone other than themselves. Eventually though, this time would come to pass, much like everything else. They were both perfectly aware of that, however, so they’d try to relish it up to the fullest.
“ When we’re in hell, maybe then we could do that. A lawless land, after all. “
“ Mhm. Wonder if we’ll be able to find each other though… “
Mizuki shrugged. They’d have, at the very least, a month to think about it anyways.
Eventually, afternoon came and the sound of the dismissal bell dawned upon them. Like they always did, they waited a bit before bidding each other farewell.
“ It’s a very nice June, don’t you think? “
Mizuki turned to Rui, who’s gaze was still to the sky. “ Yea…I do. Doubt I’m going to go outside at all once summer break starts, though. “
Rui chuckled at the other’s sure reply, finally going to pick up his backpack and take his leave.
“ See you tomorrow. “
Mizuki smirked up at Rui, a sly, confident smirk.
“ See you in hell. “
Rui smirked back as he walked out the door, the pinkette soon to follow.
