Work Text:
a mouthful of forever
jongseob wasnt meant to meet soul- not like this. but you know what to say; what’s meant to be will always find a way. so that’s what happened. the meeting of two of the same kind, same gender, same personality, and same appetite.
1988.
jongseob didn’t mean for this to happen, not now not ever- but he couldn’t help it. it had been years since his last feed, he thought he was over it. even though he always had the feeling something was wrong with him, he didn’t think.. this.. would happen again.
“jongseob what the fuck!” intak exclaimed followed by a pained noise from where he was sat on the kitchen floor next to jongseob.
jongseob froze- he’d done it again. oh god. he snapped out of his daze as intak yanked his finger out of the boys mouth.
intak had accidentally cut his finger with a small cooking knife when he was preparing food for the group at the sleepover.
the sight of blood, so red, so pure, so delicious.. jongseob couldn’t help himself. he immediately grabbed intaks hand and shoved his finger into intaks mouth, biting down. but intak had managed to pull his finger out just before any proper undoable damage was caused- but his finger was now oozing with more blood, and you could visibly see where the other boy had bit down.
“intak i’m- i’m-“ jongseob struggled to defend himself, but realistically he couldn’t. of course he couldn’t- he’d nearly bit the poor boys finger off for gods sake! he scrambled up and bolted out the kitchen door, the wind blowing his grown out blonde strands of hair everywhere. he hopped the small wooden fence with ease, sprinting down the street as he hurried back to his house- his breathing uneven and shaky. he hadn’t bothered to collect his stuff- there was no time. intak or someone else was probably dialling the polices number by now.
as jongseob rushed through the front door of him and his older brothers run down house his wife eyes darted everywhere, clearly panicked. keeho shot up from the couch, racing over to soul and gripping the boys shoulders groundingly.
“seobie, seob. calm down. what happened?” keeho searched his eyes for answers.
when jongseob didn’t reply, just tried to hurry upstairs, keeho shoved him back against the hallway wall with ease.
“you did it again, d-didn’t you?” the older boy tried his best to act normal but the way his voice wobbled slightly proved he was internally panicking.
“keeho i’m so sorry, i- i really didn’t mean to!” jongseob felt his eyes begin to glaze over with tears, the sting making a few pour over.
“hey- it’s okay it’s okay” keeho rubbed his shoulders and upper arms, trying his best to calm him down.
“you’ve got three minutes- get all you can grab in three damn minutes you hear me? you’ve got to go.”
jongseob nodded quickly, and bolted upstairs as soon as keeho loosened his grip, wiping the stray tears away.
after around four minutes, jongseob had gathered a backpack with a few necessities, one spare change of clothes and whatever savings he had- which wasn’t a lot. he’d also grabbed a bottle of water and his wired earphones- and a tape recording of his favourite band.
“jongseob hurry the hell up dammit!” keeho yelled from downstairs, his voice cracking with sorrow and guilt as soul fled downstairs.
“i’m here” he mumbled, sniffling.
“get on the car.” keeho fumbled with the door, opening it and rushing out as he unlocked the car.
the younger knew best not to argue- so he followed keeho to the run down grey forge fiesta.
“this is the third time we’ve had to move away seobie- i can’t afford this!” keeho complained as he started up the car, his voice laced with worry.
“i know.. im sorry” jongseobs voice came out small- his brain still processing what had just happened.
“you remember our promise don’t you.” the older one sighed.
jongseob did remember. of course he did.
he was 15 when he last fed- it was the pairs uncle. he had came round to fix keehos car when the boot door came loose and slammed shut, luckily or not so luckily he wasn’t fully bent over into the car, infact he was just standing up. but the car boot came swinging down, knocking him clean out. keeho had told jongseob to go check what the sound was, and if their uncle was okay. so jongseob headed down into the garage, and saw the scene. blood splattered up the boot, and their uncle led on the floor bleeding out. and jongseobs heart raced. he licked his lips and his eyes sparkled like something else had took over him. he didn’t know or care if the man was still alive, he devoured him on the spot, teeth sinking into that sweet sweet flesh, tearing and tugging at it. keeho walked in on the boy with blood all down his vest, feasting on their uncle.
keeho had already knew about jongseobs cannibalistic issues, since their mum was one too- but she got locked away into some mental asylum as expected. their dad had left after that- so keeho raised soul on his own, noticing. noticing how jongseobs eyes lit up everytime he saw blood or a dead person on the tv. he noticed.
this had happened once before- so he wasn’t surprised to find jongseob tearing apart a body on their garage floor.
that second time it happened- a promise was made. keeho told jongseob if this ever happened again, they couldn’t move states again since keeho was really struggling to find new jobs and get enough money for the two of them to live by. so keeho said he’d send jongseob off on his own to fend for himself.
“i know.” jongseob mumbled, fiddling with his fingers. keeho began the drive towards the nearest bus stop, his finger tapping idly on the slightly worn out wheel.
“i’m so sorry seobie.. but you know this has to happen. your eighteen now, you can fend for yourself. i’m so sick of getting myself involved in all this shit”
jongseob glanced at keeho- the older boys jaw was tensed and his face was filled with guilt and slight irritation. “i know- and im so sorry. i can’t help it and you know that.” soul felt his eyes fill with salty tears again, but he blinked them away.
“i’m sorry i can’t be the perfect older brother, but i deserve a shot at life too” keeho cleared his throat as the pulled over at a bus stop, the nighttime breeze blowing into the open windows.
“i know you do. so that’s why i want to do this” jongseob nodded- final.
“bye keeho.. i love you” jongseob felt his throat tighten.
“i love you too seobie. stay safe out there” keeho nodded, clearly on the verge of tears but not willing to break down like that infront of his little brother.
jongseob watched the car drove away and every inch it got further, his chest tightened and his heart ached more.
he waited for what felt like forever for the bus to arrive, constantly glancing over his shoulder to make sure there were no coppers around. and when the bus finally came, jongseob wasted no time to hop on and quickly fumble to give the driver some of his change. they boy made his way to the very back of the bus and plugged his earphones in, hitting play on his tape as he stared out the window.
he went from stop to stop, state to state constantly for what felt like forever. until eventually at 7 am he realised he was running out of money.
“dammit.. your so stupid jongseob. now you’ve got like- no money.” he muttered to himself as he slung his backpack over his shoulder, flinching as he heard the bus doors slam shut behind him. he sighed, looking around the new area- it was a run down town, he had no idea where he was. there were a few houses scattered here and there, and a small corner shop slightly hidden behind a few oak trees that were practically bare as of the heat- along with all the dead grass. he stumbled over a curb and hurried over to the corner shop, slightly self conscious suddenly. he felt as if these few passersby could see right through him. could see that he wasn’t your timid average 18 year old boy- but a monster.
the shop bell rung out above him as he entered, and was immediately hit with a strong smell- it was hard to explain, just a normal smell but as if it was 10 times stronger. jongseob brushed it off thinking it was probably just his head playing tricks on him and walked over to the medicine section, he was gonna need some painkillers for his horrible headaches he’d been having a lot recently. the boy kneeled down and opened his backpack up on the floor infront of him. he pulled out his change and started counting.
“seven.. twelve.. twelve” he muttered under his breath. he only had that much money left already? he sighed and picked up a box of painkillers and flipped it around to check the price.
his eye brows shot up. “five??” he mumbled, glancing around to check no one was watching. he stuffed three boxes into his backpack, zipping it up quickly and trying to act casual like he was looking for something.
“ahem”
his head snapped towards the sound, and there stood a boy, a boy around his age. dirty blonde hair that was disheveled- as if he’d been on the run too. he wore ripped skinny jeans that were a little too ripped, you could see his small legs through the huge holes. his white vest wasn’t so white and his unbottoned orange tshirt was pretty transparent- you could make out his slim frame through it. he had kind of- alien like features. bunny teeth and wide boba like eyes.
oh shoot- had he saw him? stealing that stuff? did he work here? no.. not looking like that surely.
the boy just smiled and let out a small laugh through his nose- more of a exhale than anything, before looking back at the cans of soda. there was something about him, jongseob could really sense something. but he didn’t quite know what.
“excuse me sir.. please can you help me find the cereal boxes?” a man cleared his throat from behind jongseob.
“oh yeah- they’re not stocked right now so just follow me to the back” the boy smiled at the man, walking towards a door at the back of the shop.
so he did work here? well that was a shocker if jongseob had ever received one, gosh. not that he wasn’t good looking or anything- the dirtiness made him look strangely attractive, but it wasn’t very formal, you had to be formal for a job right? well as formal as a crappy corner shop can get.
next thing jongseob knew, he was on his feet with his backpack slung over his shoulder, heading towards the door where the two guys went into. he didn’t know why, he just felt drawn to follow. he rested his hand around the doorknob, slowly twisting it open and slipping inside the dark room- god knows what he was getting himself into. he squinted his eyes to try see, there was stock boxes everywhere, but he could make out the boy from earliers frame quickly snapped up, and he could see the glisten of blood coating his mouth.
so that’s what it was that jongseob could sense. he was another eater.
“look- don’t freak out or run away please.. i’m just like you okay?” jongseob struggled to find the words. he didn’t know why he wanted this boy to stay, but something in him felt drawn to convince him.
“i know.” the boys soft voice, though slightly gruff from obviously killing and eating that guy, rang out in the quiet dark room “i could sense you ya’ know”
“so you could too” jongseob took a few steps towards the boy “you better get out of here before someone catches you” the other boy nodded, opening the back door that led out to an empty field with a single run down car parked there. “yeah i know. you comin?”
jongseob hesitated. but a part of him felt strangely comfortable around this guy. maybe because he was also one of his kind. “sure” his voice came out more small then intended. he stepped over the mans gnawed at body, ignoring his temptation. now wasn’t a good time when they could easily get caught.
“my names jongseob.. by the way” jongseob started as he followed the other boy out towards the car. “if it’s easier just call be seob, or seobie” the other boy didn’t reply right away, just opened the car door and hopped inside the drivers seat. jongseob just shrugged to himself and jogged round to the passenger seat, hopping in himself and placing his bag on the floor where his feet would go.
“i’m soul” the other boy didn’t start the car yet- just turnt to jongseob, blood still painted all over his mouth. “your a runner too?”
jongseob nodded slowly “yeah” he fiddled with his fingers, a nervous habit “i think we’re the same age.”
soul started up the engine. “yeah. looks like it- i’m nineteen.”
jongseob settled further into the torn leather seat “im eighteen”
soul nodded and began to drive off of the field and onto the village road.
the two awkward boys drove in silence up until the main road, there were no cars about- maybe the odd three every ten minutes, but other than than it was just road and dried out fields either side that stretched out as far as the eye could see.
“how long have you been.. a cannibal for” jongseob cleared his throat, bathe starting a relatable conversation would clear the air a bit. “well you don’t just come one.” soul replied, eyes on the road.
“i know- i mean.. well when was your first?” jongseob restarted, running a hand through his messed up blonde hair.
“when i was seven probably”
“oh damn”
“yeah.” soul tutted, grabbing a small white cloth from the floor of his car, keeping only his hand on the wheel as he reached for it. he cleaned up his mouth and tossed it into the back. “what about yours?”
“probably more around ten” jongseob admitted
“not bad”
jongseob rose an eyebrow slightly- not bad? why was this guy making out like it was some sort of thing to brag about?
“you know i’m not a killer” soul cleared his throat “i only ate that guy back there because i was desperate. it’s hard to control my urges sometimes, especially when i get such a great opportunity”
jongseob glanced at the boy. “do you don’t actually work there?”
“nope.”
“oh.”
“yeah.” soul sighed slightly “i don’t eat women or children. only men who deserve it truly”
jongseob rose his eyebrow again “why just men?”
soul scoffed “men these days are all losers. they don’t respect anyone but themselves. i don’t want to be like them.”
jongseob just turnt to face the road ahead again. i think being a cannibal is worse than being disrespectful but whatever makes you happy i guess. he thought to himself.
the journey lasted a couple hours. a couple hours of light conversation here and there, getting to know eachother a little. the car pulled to a stop outside a gas station.
“seob” soul started, pointing at the garage shop infront of them. “we’re gonna grab some shit and do a runner okay?”
jongseobs eyebrows shot up.
“like.. steal?”
soul giggled under his breath, a stupidly cute giggle. “don’t act like you weren’t doing that earlier!”
oh right.
“i suppose we can then” jongseob sighed, unbuckling his seat belt. soul instantly exited the car, jongseob following close behind as the pair made their way into the shop. “you grab some sweets- i’ll get chocolate” soul leaned down to whisper into jongseobs ear, his warm breath tickling the boys ear. jongseob nodded, eyes glancing towards the checkout desk where a middle aged man watched them closely. he then switched his vision to soul, who was picking up a few chocolate bars. soul did the same and grabbed four bags of sweets, before soul muttered “go” jongseob instantly skidded, scrambling out the shop door as fast as he could, and he could feel soul behind him doing the same.
“hey! get back here!” the checkout guys voice rang out, but soul and jongseob ran.
jongseob laughed to himself as he quickly got into the passenger seat again, soul slamming the drivers seat door shut and pulling out of the place where his car was parked in a hurry. jongseob glanced out the window to see the man running out the shop, then stopping frustratedly when he could tell he had no match keeping uk with a car.
they were back on the road again.
jongseob heard soul let out a shaky giggle, taking a bite of chocolate. jongseob grinned and opened a packet of the sweets he’d grabbed. strawberry fizzy laces. he didn’t really like those- but he was in a hurry. he ate them anyways. “that was fun” souls half-full mouth spoke from beside jongseob as he swallowed down the last of one of the chocolate bars. “unexpectedly, yeah” jongseob let out a small breathy laugh as he sucked all the sugar off of a lace. he caught soul taking a double glance of him before flicking his eyes back to focus on the road.
darkness finally settled in- and soul parked the car up in a field behind a campsite.
“well just sleep in the grass” he shrugged.
jongseob nodded- he wasn’t too bothered but he had no place to complain anyways since soul was technically helping him survive. the two settled in the long grass beside souls car, staring up at the starry sky. jongseob fiddled with his fingers, hands on his stomach.
“do you ever feel guilty?” he asked suddenly, voice coming out a little squeaky.
he could see soul turn his head towards him from the corner of his eye. “what for robbing some crappy garage shop? nah” he rose an eyebrow and propped himself up on one elbow, looking down at jongseob.
“no. not that.” jongseob looked up at the boy “you know what i mean”
he could see the others face turn away slightly towards the distant campsite where you could see a few scattered trees, tents and the glow of campfires. “we have to do what we have to do”
“yeah, i know. but still- you don’t ever feel the slightest bit guilty?”
“..sometimes” jongseob could pick up a hesitant tone in the other boys voice, almost like this was a touchy subject.
“it’s okay” jongseob instantly reassured him, sensing he probably didn’t like opening up like this- probably especially about.. this.
“well i guess.. sometimes maybe” soul shrugged, laying back down “goodnight”
jongseob felt his heart squeeze a little, he was shutting him out, but it was expected. they’d only known each other for hardly a whole day.
“night” jongseob closed his eyes and tried to fall into sleep.
“seob? helloooo? oh my god jongseob!” jongseobs eyes snapped open at the voice, seeing soul hovering over him.
“ah- gosh sorry!” he scrambled to sit up as the other boy rolled off of him, giggling amd jumping to his feet. “get in the car- we’re moving”
jongseob blinked awake properly and rubbed his eyes. it was only just becoming light! why did soul want to leave so quickly.. then he caught it, the patch of dried blood around his mouth.
“soul?” jongseob stood up and followed soul into the car.
“yeah?” soul replied as he started up the engine and pulled out of the field and back onto the main road quickly.
“god- you ate someone from that camp didn’t you?”
soul didn’t reply right away. “maybe i did.”
“maybe.. you mean yes you did.”
“okay yes- and i’m sorry, i know that was risky and im trying to keep you safe as well as me here, but i couldn’t help it. i needed it.” soul sighed, jaw twitching.
jongseob sighed just after soul did, facing him. “it’s okay. i understand” he nodded.
“where are we going next?” jongseob faced back to the road ahead.
“dunno.. wherever the road takes us i suppose”
jongseob let out a breathy chuckle “okay”
a week passed, and jongseob and shota were in a motel. they had scraped together what remained of jongseobs cash and a few extra bits of change they’d pickpocketed.
right now they led on the double bed side by side, staring at the wall in the dark room- freshly showered and changed.
“i have question” jongseob asked suddenly.
soul chuckled “you always have questions don’t you?”
“hah- yeah..” jongseob grinned sheepishly “so.. do you know anyone else like us?”
shota tilted his head thoughtfully.
“hmm. i’ve came across a few, but never really talked to them” he admitted- voice all velvety and sweet like always “how about you?” jongsoeob nodded
“my mum was one”
“oh really?”
“yep.”
“she dead or?..”
jongseob shook his head “no. she’s in some mental hospital prison thing”
“oh damn” soul raised his eyebrows
“lets hope we don’t turn out like that one day~” he teased lightly.
jongseob propped himself up on his shoulder “excuse me!” he gasped in a playful tone “i haven’t eaten in what- years. even though it’s tempting as hell. you ate what- well last week.”
shota giggled
“i wouldn’t be laughing because of anyone’s getting locked up it’s you!”
soul just laughed harder and jongseob joined, falling backwards with him on the bed.
“i’d rather die and be eaten myself then get locked up” soul chuckled
jongseob rolled his eyes “your weird”
“you like it” he grinned
weeks passed- weeks of the two travelling and sleeping outside in the hot weather, staying in motels occasionally; stealing clothes and food along the way. and occasionally finding wandering strangers late at night. and doing their thing. weeks of getting to know each other and feelings growing and bending in lots of different ways.
“you know i really enjoy eating with you” soul said as he wiped blood off of his mouth and hands with his dirty t-shirt from the previous day, blood splattered up his current one.
“same” jongseob replied shyly as soul tossed him the t-shirt to copy after him.
“let’s just leave this here..” soul glanced down at the half eaten body of a man on the floor and grabbed jongseobs wrist gently, tugging him back towards the car. they drove around for a while, drove until dark. soul parked up the car and they ran up a hill together, laughing before they collapsed on the top- out of breath.
jongseob and soul let out a long sigh in sync as they led on their backs, facing the night sky with their shoulders touching.
“you’ve still got blood on your mouth” soul propped up on his shoulder, looking down at jongseob, their faces just inches apart.
“oh” jongseob locked his dim eyes with souls wide glistening eyes. soul slowly inched his face closer to jongseobs, and the boy felt his heart race. “soul?”
“shush” the boy above him grinned before meeting his lips with jongseobs.
jongseobs breath hitched and he slowly sat up, soul quickly adjusting with him. their lips moved against eachother in a slow, patient pace- the faint taste of blood mingling with the taste of eachother. when soul pulled apart for air, he rested his forehead against jongseobs with a shaky exhale.
“i feel like..” the boy started “your the only person that’s ever understood me”
jongseob felt his heart race a little faster, and etched closer, taking souls hands in his.
“same.” he mumbled under his breath, their eyes meeting- foreheads still touching.
“and that first day we met- you asked me if i felt guilty.” souls voice was slightly shaky “the truth is i do. i do feel guilty, for being such a monster”
“hey” jongseob stared into the others wide glassy eyes “your not a monster. it’s our nature. we all wish we were normal people sometimes.”
“you don’t think im a bad person?” souls voice cracked a little as a tear rolled down his cheek.
“all i think is that is love you” jongseob breathed out before capturing souls lips in another gentle kiss.
the next morning came- and the two boys helped eachother change clothes and ate the canned food they had stole. they sat on the top of the hill still, eating in peaceful quiet.
“you told me your mum was one of us” soul spoke between mouthfuls.
jongseob was a little tacken aback by the sudden statement, he never really talked about his mum to soul- only once or twice before while they were feasting together.
“yeah” he replied eventually “she was.”
soul nodded and nudged his shoulder against jongseobs. “you wanna go see her?”
jongseob froze. see her? he hadn’t seen her in forever. “what?..”
“i can take you there.. i have a car remember. if we just find out what one it was i can take yo-“
“i don’t want to.” jongseob interrupted, staring at his food.
“oh?” soul replied, turning to face him.
“sorry- i’m sorry soul. i just can’t.”
“it’s okay. i get it” soul smiled comfortingly at jongseob, his bunny teeth showing. that always made jongseob feel better.
“you know my name isn’t actually soul”
jongseob turnt to face him fully “what?”
“yeah.. it’s just a fake name. my real name is shota.”
“why didn’t you tell me?” jongseob tilted his head, not irritated or angry- just confused.
“because i only tell people i really trust, but now i really trust you. because your my boyfriend right?”
jongseob froze and almost spat out the food in his mouth. he quickly recovered and swallowed it down. “boyfriend?”
“yeah.. oh.. yeah. i forgot to ask” soul muttered half to himself. jongseobs eyes widened slightly.
“kim jongseob. will you be my boyfriend?”
“yes.” jongseob replied instantly, seopping his food and fork to pull shota into a hug.
“we can get a place. start fresh. be together forever and ever. just the two of us” shota breathed, wrapping his arms around jongseob in exchange.
“yeah. i would really love that. because i really love you” jongseob pulled back just enough to see shotas stupid grin.
“i love you too” shota peppered kisses all over jongseobs pale face.
they drove again. drove for days straight until the fuel ran out, and the sun was shining high above them in the sky. “fuck..” shota muttered under his breath, sighing and glancing out the window.
jongseob followed his gaze to an abandoned barn that was medium sized in the middle of the burnt out field- with lots of rubble scattered around. “it’s okay shota we can stay there until we think of something” jongseob rubbed up and down shotas forearm, and shota calmed almost instantly. “yeah”
shota nodded “if you are comfortable with it” jongseob nodded and flicked his head towards the barn “let’s check it out” jongseob grabbed his backpack and swing it over his shoulder, following soul towards the barn.
“this place is pretty grim” shota chuckled nervously as he tripped over a brick on the floor, catching himself just before jongseob could reach out to catch him. jongseobs eyes skimmed the inside of the barn as both of them ventured further inside. there were empty chicken coops along one side against a wall, and rusted metal fenced areas that were probably where pigs or sheep were kept.
“what are you doin’ ere?” a gruff, unfamiliar voice cut through the eerie silence. the two boys snapped their heads towards where it had come from in sync, and there stood a man- he looked like he was in about his early twenties, stained white vest with jorts on that had mud stuck all along the hem- pocket knife in his hand.
he was one of them too.
“i said what are you lots doin ere!” he snapped, pointing the blade towards them- a threat from the distance. shota turnt to face the man fully, so jongseob copied him.
“our car broke down” shota started, sounding nervous. “so we were gonna stay here for the night while he plan what to do. we’re on the run” the man stared at them, lowering the knife. jongseob let out a small sigh of relief. “well- it’s still daytime. bugger off somewhere else!” the man lowered his voice- not shouting anymore but he still sounded daunting.
“yes. sorry” jongseob replied- he knew shota well enough to know he would most likely argue back, and didn’t want them winding up hurt or worse. shota took jongseobs hand in his as he led the way out, slowly but surely. “seob” shota whispered under his breath as they walked around a pen. jongseob looked up at him.
“he had a video recorder”
jongseob stilled, then carried on walking- not wanting to look suspicious. “please don’t tell me your suggesting what i think your suggesting”
“look- those sell for a lot- and if we got that we could actually get ourselves on track. like normal people, remember? you wanted to be normal” jongseob looked up at shota.
“no, we can’t afford the risk-“ but shots had already started running back inside the barn, so jongseob sprinted after him, but shots had longer legs so he was naturally faster. jongseob watched shots lunge for the man, disarming him with ease and snatching the video recorder out of his other hand. he then scrambled up and grabbed jongseobs wrist gently but with urgency, pulling him along with him as he charged out of the open barn doors, video recorder in his other hand.
“shota! your stupid! the cars broke down- he’ll be recovered from that blow in no time! he’s gonna kill us and hell- probably eat us too!” jongseob scolded, out of breath as they rushed into the car.
“it’s fine” shota panted, starting up the car “see? i knew it would fix itself”
“just go!” jongseob whined, getting worked out from how risky this was.
as the car drove away, jongseob saw that man standing at the doors of the barn, staring the car down, knife in hand.
“god shota.” jongseob sighed, burying his sulky face into his hands.
“jongseob- trust me okay? we’re fine. we got the recorder- we’re gonna get the money- and no one got hurt.”
shotas reassurance seemed to calm jongseob a little, and he let out a shaky exhale, jongseob was right. he had to be.
time flew by. it always did. jongseob and shota had gathered enough money to get them by, and they brought a small apartment near jongseobs collage. shota didn’t want to go to collage, he didn’t really care if he was educated or not- he was mainly focusing on getting jongseob back on track since he used to have somewhat normality in his life- shota never had that.
“baby i’ll be off to work” shota mumbled, peppering a few kisses on the side of jongseobs neck as jongseob talked to their friend on the phone.
he took the phone away from his ear for a brief moment to press a quick kiss to shotas lips. “okay baby- see you” shota nodded and hurried along out the door as jongseob turnt his attention back to the phone.
jongseob called with his collage friend for around ten minuites, before he hung up. he stretched his arms above his head and yawned, closing his eyes and turning around to head to the bedroom to take a nap. when his eyes blinked open his breath bitched, and he froze.
it was him.
the guy they stole that stupid vhs recorder from- was here. in the couples apartment.
“nice place you got here” the man’s rough voice rang out in the quiet hallway.
“wh-what are you doing here” jongseob stuttered, taking a step backwards.
“im here to take back what’s mine” he spat, lunging for jongseob, pocket knife in hand. jongseob ducked under his arm and sprinted to the bedroom, leaping onto his and shotas shared bed- frantically trying to open the window to get out. the guy yanked the boy back by his long blonde strands- and he yelped, now underneath the man on the mattress.
“you stupid boy” the man hissed, pinning the blade against jongseobs neck. “you really thought that you would get away with this?”
i told you shota!
“im- we’re sorry” his voice wobbled as he squeezed his eyes shut.
“now i have to fucking kill you- hell this isn’t even about the vhs recorder no more- i’m just pissed that you got away and are out here living your best life when you made a fool out of me”
this guy must be some kind of physco- he was really about to kill someone because they embarrassed him? it would be more reasonable over the recorder..
“and im feeling kind of hungr-“ the guys voice was interrupted by him getting yanked upright, now in a headlock. jongseob opened his eyes and scrambled to sit up, wiping the drop of blood on his neck from where the tip of the blade grazed- now a small amount of blood oozed out.
it was shota! jongseob watched, still in shock. the two were wrestling, shota had him in a headlock but the guy snapped around when shota loosened his grip the slightest, thrusting the blade forward. jongseob couldn’t tell if it missed or stabbed, since he was scrambling up to slam a glass vase over the man’s head. the man fell to the floor, blood spilling out instantly, his breathing stilling. dead.
jongseob panted, dropping what remained of the smashed vase when he heared a suppressed pained noise come from shota.
“oh no- oh no no no” jongseob felt tears welling in his eyes as he spotted shota sat leaned up against their bedroom wall, gripping the wound in the side of his stomach, blood pooling out.
“shota!” jongseob rushed to his side, falling onto his knees next to him and flailing his hands about, unsure where to place them before pushing them against his one hand that gripped the wound. “look- well but pressure on it- get you to a hospital-“
“seob- seob” shotas voice came out shallow and uneven, his eyes- usually so wide and glossy, were now dim and half lidded “stop baby stop”
“no- no shota, we have to go! o don’t care if we get in trouble, your all that matters to me” jongseob panicked, eyes locking onto shotas.
“seob we ca- we can’t..” shota coughed, his body jerking forward as blood splattered from his mouth into the wooden panelled floor. jongseob didn’t know what to do. he lowered shota to lay on his back, straddling him and removing one hand from the wound to cup the side of his face, capturing his lips in one last sweet kiss. full do hunger and devotion. their lips moved together slowly, their combined tears adding a salty taste. jongseob pulled away, a muffled sob and a broken cry tearing from his throat as he looked at shotas face, blood now staining the side of his face. the boys eyes were still half-lidded and he had a small smile on his face. “jongseob” he breathed out.
“yes? yes baby? what is it?” jongseob sniffled as he cupped the side of shotas face again. “i know your hungry- i want you to feed” jongseobs heart plummeted.
“no- no i can’t-“
“seob i want you to do it, please eat me” his voice came out slightly strangled and uneven.
“no- i don’t wanna” jongseob shook his head, tears spilling over as his eyes opened wide.
“do it- seobie i want you to do it”
“no- i ca- i cant- im not gonna eat you”
“do it seob..”
“i can’t stop it i can’t stop it” jongseobs head shook more frantically now. his mind screaming at him to eat.
“seob… carry me with you forever” shota pleaded, blood pooling around him.
he really wanted jongseob to eat him that bad- jongseob stppped the manic head shaking and looked at shota, and he saw the glisten returning to his eyes. and his instincts took over.
“shota thank you..” his voice trembled as he captured shotas lips in another kiss.
when he pulled away, shota was almost gone. “eat me now- bones and all” he struggled to speak.
“if that’s what you- what you want” more tears fell from jongseobs eyes.
“i love you seob…”
“ilove you too shota.. so damn much i promise im gonna eat you up real good.”
all the light remaining from shotas eyes dimmed completely, and they lidded further, his head tilting to the side- limp. jongseobs bottom lip trembled at the sight, and he scooted down further until his face was level with the wound, he peeled up the bloodied vest and ducked in.
just like promised, jongseob would carry a mouthful of soul with him forever.
