Stuck like Glue

Summary:

The Entity operates under one rule: as long as you're not alone, it can't get you. Naturally, Ryan and Naim stick together like glue. But as the fear fades, Ryan's definition of "statistically risky isolation" suddenly expands to include the laundromat, the food truck line, and... taking a shower. Naim sees right through the flimsy excuses, but he's not about to complain when it brings Ryan closer.

In which Ryan uses the entity as an excuse to trick Naim into showering with him. Except it’s not much of a trick when Naim is more than a willing participant.

Notes:

I was challenged by a friend to write some heated scenes for once and I triedddd. It was just supposed to be something I send to her for fun, but I figured I'll post it on here too for those interested, with her blessing of course, as this was her own idea/prompt.

Enjoy~~

Work Text:

Ryan’s shoulder was warm where it pressed against Naim’s through the thin cotton of their shirts, a constant, heavy anchor in the crowded university library.

It had taken weeks of meticulous, terrifying trial and error to fully grasp the rules. The Entity thrived in isolation; it needed space, quiet, and a moment of total solitude to slip through the cracks. As long as they remained tethered to the presence of another human, it was completely powerless.

During the day, their schedules were a choreographed dance. Naim coordinated his study groups so he was never left alone in a classroom, and Ryan swapped shift times at the garage to ensure he was always on the floor with at least two other mechanics. But the real relief came the moment their paths crossed at the end of the afternoon. The second they were in the same vicinity, they stuck together like glue.

"You're leaning on me," Naim whispered, tapping his pen against his textbook, though he didn't move an inch away.

"You're sitting in my personal space," Ryan muttered back, his deep voice barely audible over the low hum of the library. He didn't shift either. Instead, he subtly adjusted his broad frame, angling his shoulders just enough to block Naim from the shadow-heavy aisle behind them.

"We agreed on a three-inch radius for safety," Naim said, feeling a sudden flush warm his cheeks. He kept his eyes locked on his notes, though his heart was doing a nervous little stutter step. "This is... negative one inch."

Ryan let out a soft breath that sounded suspiciously like a huff of amusement. "Just making sure the math checks out."

It had become comfortably routine. The paralyzing terror that used to grip Naim’s chest had slowly smoothed out into something manageable. Even now, as Naim glanced toward the tall stacks of books and caught a fleeting, flickering glimpse of Ryan’s carbon copy standing in the periphery; pale-eyed and wrong, it didn't strike the same icy dread anymore. Naim just blinked, turned his head, and looked at the real Ryan sitting right beside him. Solid. Warm. Grounded.

Ryan reached down, his large, calloused hand brushing against Naim’s knee under the table as he pulled his phone out to check the time. The contact was brief, but Ryan’s fingers lingered for a second longer than necessary before retreating.

"Shift at six," Ryan said, his eyes scanning Naim’s face with a quiet, careful intensity. "I'll walk you to your tutoring session first. We can grab coffee on the way."

"You don't have to walk me. It's across the quad, there are dozens of people out there," Naim said softly, though the prospect of Ryan leaving his side already made him feel strangely hollow.

Ryan shifted, his shoulder nudging Naim’s again, deliberate and firm. "I'm walking you," he insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Besides... I like walking with you."

Naim swallowed hard, his hands suddenly feeling very clumsy around his highlighter. "Oh. Okay. Yeah. I... I like it too."

Ryan offered a small, crooked smile, rare and hesitant, but entirely genuine, before reaching over to gently close Naim's textbook for him. The Entity was still out there, lurking in the quiet corners of the world, but wrapped in the safe, quiet space they built together, Naim couldn't bring himself to care.

It started with the grocery store.

Ryan had stood in the doorway of Naim’s apartment, keys dangling from his finger, looking remarkably grave. "The supermarket on 4th gets dead around 7:00 pm," he’d stated, his tone dripping with solemn concern. "The cereal aisle is basically an isolation zone. I need a spotter."

Naim had slowly raised an eyebrow, knowing full well that particular supermarket was a 24-hour hub perpetually crawling with tired college students and frantic night-shift workers. But instead of calling him out, Naim had simply grabbed his coat. "Right. The cereal aisle is notoriously treacherous. Lead the way."

From there, the "threats" escalated with hilarious speed.

Within two weeks, Ryan’s definition of a high-risk location expanded to include the local laundromat at noon on a Saturday, the line for the campus food truck, and, most egregiously, the dentist’s waiting room.

"They put you in a private room, Naim," Ryan had argued earnestly, sitting on the edge of Naim’s bed while Naim folded laundry. Ryan’s large frame took up half the mattress, his broad shoulders subtly blocking the doorway just out of habit. "What if the dental hygienist steps out to grab a tool? That’s a ninety-second window of absolute solitude. The Entity could strike."

"Ryan, it’s a cleaning. There are four people in the room with me," Naim said, biting back a smile as he neatly stacked a shirt. "And the waiting room has twelve people in it."

"You can't trust open concept floor plans," Ryan replied without missing a beat, his expression completely serious, though a faint, telltale flush crept up the back of his neck. "I’m coming with you. I’ll sit on the stool."

Naim saw right through him. He saw through the gruff excuses, the sudden deep "concern" over mundane errands, and the way Ryan’s eyes darted around for a valid safety hazard whenever he wanted an excuse to hold Naim’s hand or press their shoulders together in public.

And Naim let him get away with every single bit of it.

Because as ridiculous as it was, the warmth of Ryan’s presence was an addiction. When Ryan sat on the tiny plastic chair in the corner of the dentist's room, looking absurdly huge and entirely out of place while holding Naim's jacket, he couldn’t stop the small giggles from erupting every minute. Eventually earning him a glare and gentle chidings from his dental hygienist.

The breaking point arrived on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Naim was studying at his desk when Ryan knocked on his door, looking distinctly flustered.

"I have a situation," Ryan announced, leaning against the doorframe.

"Oh?" Naim leaned back, crossing his arms with a fond, knowing tilt of his head. "Is the Entity in the hallway?"

"No," Ryan said, clearing his throat and shifting his weight awkwardly. "I need to take a shower."

Naim blinked. "Okay...?"

"The bathroom fan creates white noise," Ryan said, the words tumbling out in a rushed, rehearsed rush. His tall frame seemed to shrink just a fraction under Naim's steady gaze. "And when the curtain is pulled, I’m technically in an enclosed space alone. Visually isolated. It’s... statistically risky."

Naim stared at him for a long moment. The excuse was so blatantly absurd, so wildly unnecessary, the apartment building was buzzing with noise, and Ryan’s roommate was literally in the living room, that Naim couldn't help the soft, breathy laugh that escaped his lips.

Ryan flushed darker, rubbing the back of his neck, suddenly looking very much like someone who’d been caught red-handed. "I mean... if you're busy—"

"Ryan," Naim interrupted softly, his voice gentle. He stood up from his desk and walked over, stopping well within that safety radius they’d established weeks ago. He reached out, his fingers lightly brushing against the heavy fabric of Ryan’s sleeve, feeling the steady heat radiating off him. "You know you don't need an excuse to ask me to sit in the room with you, right?"

Ryan froze, his dark eyes locking onto Naim’s. The tough, protective routine melted away, leaving only an endearing, flustered honesty. He swallowed hard, his throat bobbing.

"...The fan really is loud, though," Ryan mutter

"I'm sure it is," Naim smiled, a soft laugh escaping him as he turned toward his desk. "Come on then. I'll bring my book and sit on the sink counter. Can't let the bathroom monster get you."

Ryan immediately cleared his throat, a sound that was far too loud for the small apartment. "No."

Naim paused, turning back with a tilted head. Ryan was practically glowing, the flush on his neck having migrated all the way to the tips of his ears.

"No?" Naim repeated gently.

"The counter is... outside the curtain," Ryan declared, trying valiantly to pull his tough, stoic guard back into place. He squared his broad shoulders and puffed out his chest, attempting an air of authoritative logic. "That creates a physical barrier. Visual separation. To be completely, statistically safe, we... we have to take a shower together."

His grand, logical statement collapsed on the very last word, his voice taking a sudden, disastrously high-pitched crack.

The fake bravado vanished in an instant. Ryan looked as if he wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole, his big frame tensing as he gripped the doorframe, clearly bracing himself for Naim to laugh him right out of the apartment.

Naim froze. A sudden wave of heat surged straight to his face, his own cheeks burning bright crimson. His mind raced, the excuse was so outrageously transparent, so ridiculously bold.

He looked at Ryan, at the wide, panicked dark eyes, the reddened face, and the tense, protective body that had spent weeks acting as his personal shield against the dark. The thought of stepping into that warm, steaming space together sent his heart hammering against his ribs, not with fear, but with a wild, fluttering nervous energy.

Naim swallowed hard, his voice barely above a whisper. "Okay."

Ryan blinked, his posture slackening in total shock. "...Okay?"

"Yeah," Naim said, his face still burning as he offered a shy, breathless little smile, his fingers nervously tugging at the hem of his shirt. "I mean... we can't take any chances with the statistical risks, right?"

A slow, stunned, and intensely relieved smile broke across Ryan's face. He stepped fully into the room, his large hand reaching out to gently wrap around Naim’s wrist, his thumb tracing a warm, soothing circle against Naim's racing pulse.

"Right," Ryan rasped softly, his tone far gentler now, all the fake bravado melted away into pure, quiet warmth. "No risks."

The bathroom was already warm, the mirror fogging up as steam began to billow over the top of the glass enclosure. They stood on the bathmat in absolute silence, still fully clothed, the sound of rushing water filling the small space. Up until now, their blossoming romance had been a sweet, slow-burning thing, stolen kisses behind the library stacks, fingers intertwined under dining hall tables, and quiet, heavy embraces. Intimacy like this was entirely uncharted territory.

Ryan cleared his throat, trying desperately to project a cool, unbothered composure as he reached for the hem of his shirt. "Right," he muttered, pulling the fabric over his head in one swift motion.

He tossed the shirt into the corner and reached for his belt. He was doing a remarkably good job of playing it nonchalant, until he undid his jeans. As he worked the denim down his thighs, he caught Naim’s wide, dark eyes trailing down his chest.

Naim let out a tiny, breathless gasp, a sound so exquisitely soft and genuine that Ryan’s foot caught in his pant leg, sending him stumbling sideways into the towel rack with a loud clatter.

"You good?" Naim squeaked, his voice cracking slightly.

"Totally fine. Master of agility," Ryan grunted, his face ablaze as he kicked his jeans aside. He straightened up, standing completely naked in the foggy room. He turned to face Naim directly, trying to look brave, but his pulse was hammering in his throat.

Naim wasn't even trying to hide his stare. His cheeks burned a glorious, deep crimson as his gaze dragged over the broad expanse of Ryan’s chest, tracing the thick curve of his shoulders and the defined cut of his stomach. A heavy, flustered silence hung between them, thick with sudden, intoxicating tension.

"Your turn," Ryan rasped, his voice rougher than he intended.

Naim swallowed hard, his hands trembling as he reached for his own buttons. Ryan immediately looked up at the ceiling, attempting to uphold some semblance of gentlemanly restraint so he wouldn't make Naim uncomfortable. But he was only human. Within three seconds, his eyes betrayed him, snapping back down to watch Naim strip away his clothes.

Ryan’s breath hitched in his chest. Naim was absolute perfection. Where Ryan was broad and heavy-set, Naim was all lean, elegant lines, his narrow frame lithe and delicate under the soft bathroom lights. Tiny, faint moles peppered his pale torso like constellations, a sight so breathtakingly intimate that Ryan felt a sudden, fierce urge to press his lips against every single one of them.

"Stop looking at me like that," Naim mumbled, hiding his burning face in his hands, though a shy, thrilled smile tugged at his lips.

"Can't," Ryan admitted honestly, stepping closer and gently tugging Naim’s hands away from his face. "You're... Naim, you're unbelievable."

Naim’s breath hitched, his hand instinctively reaching out to rest against the warm, muscular swell of Ryan’s chest. The touch sent a jolt straight through both of them.

"Shower," Naim whispered nervously, his heart pounding wildly against his ribs. "Before we... before the hot water runs out."

"Right. Safety first," Ryan choked out.

What followed was a wonderfully clumsy, completely uncoordinated scramble into the tub. Ryan slid the glass door open and stepped in first, but in his eagerness to pull Naim in with him, he bumped his elbow sharply against the tiled wall. Naim stepped in right after, slipped slightly on the wet porcelain, and instinctually grabbed onto Ryan’s waist for dear life.

They ended up tangled together under the spray, hot water cascading over their skin, both of them flushed, dripping, and laughing breathlessly into the narrow space.

"Very smooth" Naim teased softly, resting his forehead against Ryan’s wet collarbone, his arms wrapped tightly around Ryan's thick waist. The water washed away every last trace of hesitation, leaving only the incredible, soothing heat of their bodies pressed together.

Every slight point of contact between their slick skin felt instantly electrified, a sudden hum of electricity that made them both ache for more. Ryan swallowed hard, his hands smoothing down Naim’s shoulder blades before he gently turned him around.

"Turn around," Ryan murmured, his voice heavy. "Let me."

Naim complied willingly, his back now flush against the sturdy expanse of Ryan’s chest. The hot water cascaded over them as Ryan reached for the shampoo bottle. With surprising gentleness for his large hands, Ryan began working the lather through Naim’s dark, wet hair, his broad fingers massaging Naim's scalp with deep, soothing pressure. It felt overwhelmingly domestic, so profoundly intimate that Naim let his eyes flutter shut, leaning back into Ryan's solid heat with a contented sigh.

Ryan tilted Naim’s head back to gently rinse the foam away, watching the clear water trail down the line of Naim's throat. As the last of the suds washed down the drain, Ryan’s large hands dragged slowly down the sides of Naim’s slender neck.

Naim let out that small, breathy gasp again, that delicate, delicious sound that made Ryan’s head spin. Every instinct urged Ryan to turn him around and devour him right then, but he forced himself to maintain control, channeling the growing heat into his hands as he reached for the bar of soap.

He glided the slick soap across Naim’s shoulders and down his back, massaging the lean, supple muscles shifting under smooth skin. Ryan’s thumbs pressed rhythmic circles along Naim's spine, marveling at the contrast between his broad, heavy strength and Naim’s lithe frame. He traced the small, dark moles peppered across Naim's skin, the heat in his gut coiling tighter with every pass of the water.

Once the soapy residue was thoroughly rinsed, the sheer restraint Ryan had been holding onto finally snapped. Driven by an intoxicating need, Ryan leaned in, placing open-mouthed kisses directly onto the wet skin of Naim’s back. He kissed his way down Naim's spine, his lips and warm tongue carefully tracing every freckle and mole he had longed to touch just minutes ago.

Naim gasped, his hands blindly reaching back to grip Ryan’s thick thighs for support. He leaned heavily against Ryan, breathing fast and uneven, savoring every wave of heat spilling over his skin. The drag of Ryan’s tongue sent sharp shivers straight down his spine, making his hips twitch instinctively back against Ryan, silently pleading for more.

As if reading his mind, Ryan shifted his hands to wrap firmly around Naim’s waist, sliding his lips up the slope of Naim’s shoulder to attack the sensitive skin of his neck. Naim let out a soft moan and immediately tilted his head to the side, extending his neck to give Ryan complete, unhindered access.

Ryan didn't hesitate. He pressed his lips to the fluttering pulse point, licking the slick water off Naim’s skin before sinking his teeth in with a gentle, firm bite that elicited a sharp, shuddering sigh from Naim's lips.

The bite sent an electric shock straight through Naim’s core, his toes curling against the wet floor of the tub. He gasped out Ryan’s name, the sound ringing softly against the steam-fogged tiles.

Ryan smoothed his large hands over Naim’s slick stomach, gripping his hips and pulling Naim backward until there was zero space left between them. Naim could feel the heavy, thrumming heat of Ryan pressed flush against his lower back, leaving no doubt about just how deeply Ryan was feeling every second of this.

"Ryan..." Naim breathed, his fingers digging into Ryan’s forearms, trembling with a sudden, overwhelming need. "Turn me around. Please."

Ryan didn't need to be told twice. He spun Naim around in the narrow enclosure, pressing him gently back against the warm, tiled wall. The spray of the shower hit Ryan's back, shielding Naim in a private, tropical microclimate of steam and heat.

Naim looked up, his dark eyes wide, dark with desire, and entirely unguarded. Ryan stared down at him, his chest heaving, his own shy anxiety finally completely melted by the fierce, adoration roaring in his blood.

"I've wanted to touch you like this for weeks," Ryan confessed, his voice a low, gravelly rasp.

He cupped the back of Naim’s neck and leaned down, capturing Naim’s mouth in a deep, bruising kiss that immediately stole whatever breath Naim had left. It wasn't like their brief, sweet pecks in the hallway, this was desperate and hungry, their tongues tangling slickly as Ryan parted Naim's lips. Naim let out a whimper, throwing his arms around Ryan’s broad shoulders, pulling himself up on tiptoes to press as close as humanly possible.

Ryan’s hands slid down from Naim’s waist, lifting one of Naim’s thighs to hook it firmly over his own broad hip. Naim groaned into the kiss, the shift in angle bringing their bodies into agonizingly perfect friction. Every slick, feverish movement sent stars bursting behind Naim’s eyelids.

"You're so warm," Naim panted against Ryan's lips when they finally parted for air, their foreheads resting together, both of them flushed and breathless under the pouring water. "Ryan, it feels so good..."

"I've got you," Ryan whispered, his hand gently squeezing Naim's thigh, his thumb rubbing soft, soothing circles into his wet skin to keep him grounded. He pressed another slow, lingering kiss to Naim’s jawline, feeling the erratic flutter of his pulse. "I'm right here, Naim. I'm not going anywhere.

Ryan moved with painstaking care, his protective instincts overriding the desperate, feverish edge of the moment. Every touch was deliberate, every shift in weight calculated to make sure Naim felt completely supported in the slick, steamy enclosure.

"You okay?" Ryan rasped, his dark eyes searching Naim’s face, checking for any sign of hesitation. "Tell me if it's too much, Naim. We go at your speed."

Naim shook his head softly, a breathless laugh escaping his lips as he cupped Ryan’s jaw. "I'm okay, Ryan. I trust you. Just... don't stop."

With a soft, reverent exhale, Ryan took charge, wrapping his broad arms securely around Naim to take his weight and setting a steady, gentle rhythm under the rushing spray. But as their bodies connected deeper, the gentle care began to fray at the edges, giving way to a raw, consuming hunger.

Naim felt the shift in Ryan, felt the way the muscles in his broad back locked tight, how his breathing turned ragged against Naim's neck. Empowered by the sheer, overwhelming adoration flooding his chest, Naim tilted his head back, his hands sliding up to grip the thick, corded muscles of Ryan's shoulders.

"Ryan," Naim breathed out, his voice thick with a sudden, intoxicating wave of affection. "God, you feel... you're so good. You're so good to me, Ryan."

The words hit Ryan like an electric shock. Hearing Naim, usually so shy, so careful and reserved, unspooling praise in that broken, desperate whisper completely shattered whatever remaining restraint Ryan was holding onto. A low, gravelly groan tore from the back of Ryan’s throat. The shy, cautious part of his brain, replaced by a fierce, driving need to consume every single piece of what Naim was offering.

Ryan’s grip on Naim’s hips tightened until his fingers nearly bruised, his large frame pressing forward with sudden, relentless intent. He stopped holding back the pace, driving deeper and faster into Naim, setting a heavier, punishing rhythm that matched the frantic pounding of their hearts.

Every surge forward elicited a sharp, desperate sound from Naim, a mix of high whimpers, broken gasps, and uninhibited moans echoing loudly against the wet tiles. Hearing those noises, raw and completely unguarded, drove Ryan out of his mind. Each breathless cry Naim let out acted like fuel on a fire, spurring Ryan to push harder, move faster, and hold him tighter against the wall.

"Ryan... ah, God—" Naim sobbed out, his head falling back against the tile as Ryan hit the same agonizingly perfect spot over and over. "Harder—Ryan, please—"

That broken plea pushed Ryan past the point of no return. A guttural growl vibrated in Ryan's chest as he buried his face in Naim's shoulder, his hips moving in a relentless, feverish blur. Naim's sweet, frantic noises rose in volume, completely filling the space, driving Ryan into a frantic frenzy where nothing existed except the slick heat of their bodies and the intoxicating soundtrack of Naim undoing under his hands.

"Naim..." Ryan choked out against his skin, his teeth lightly catching Naim's pulse point as he lost himself entirely to the friction and the noise.

"Yes—oh, fuck, Ryan—" Naim gasped, his nails biting sharply into Ryan’s shoulders as the world spun off its axis. Every movement drove the breath straight out of his lungs, replacing it with waves of incandescent pleasure. He couldn't get enough of the heavy, solid weight of Ryan holding him, couldn't get enough of the way Ryan took him apart and put him back together.

"Keep going," Naim cried out, his voice cracking completely as he pulled Ryan down for a bruising, desperate kiss, his breathless whines lost directly into Ryan's mouth as he poured out endless, frantic compliments. "You're amazing. You're so good, Ryan, please—"

Spurred to absolute madness by Naim’s vocal surrender, Ryan’s control completely snapped. He surged forward with a final, devastating rush, driving them both straight into the blinding, white-hot peak. Naim cried out, a high, shuddering moan tearing from his throat as his whole body locked up, a fierce wave of release crashing over him. Ryan followed immediately, a low, guttural roar bursting from his chest as he buried himself deep one last time, holding Naim so tightly it felt as if their ribs would fuse together.

They stayed locked together for a long, breathless eternity, trembling against the tiled wall as the hot water beat down on their backs. The only sound left in the room was the steady rush of the shower and their harsh, uneven breathing

When the water finally ran lukewarm, Ryan shut off the tap with a wet snap. A quiet, giddy energy settled over them as they dried off, both stealing shy glances through the foggy bathroom air, faces flushing crimson every time their eyes met.

Naim sat on the edge of his mattress in a pair of oversized sweatpants, his damp hair sticking up in soft tufts. Ryan walked in buttoning up a worn flannel shirt, looking distinctly flustered for a guy who had just taken Naim completely apart. He cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck as he stood by the bed.

"So," Ryan rasped softly. "Safety protocol... completed."

Naim let out a soft, breathless laugh. "Right. Very thorough work."

Ryan settled onto the mattress, his heavy frame shifting the springs as he pulled the duvet over them. He turned on his side, his large arm immediately wrapping around Naim’s waist to draw him flush against his chest. With his free hand, Ryan’s calloused thumb gently traced a dark, rose-colored mark he’d left right at the juncture of Naim’s neck and collarbone. A quiet, intensely satisfied look settled over his features as his fingers glided lower, brushing over the small scatterings of bites peppered across Naim's torso, intermingling with his moles.

"I'm going to have to wear turtlenecks to my lecture," Naim whispered, leaning into the touch as a blush crept up his neck. "My professor is going to think I was attacked by a very localized swarm of bees."

"Let them," Ryan muttered softly, pressing a kiss to the fresh mark on Naim's shoulder.

Naim turned his head, his slender fingers reaching over to lightly poke Ryan in the ribs. "Speaking of keeping people away... where else do you think you're going to 'require' my presence tomorrow? You know, to keep the Entity out. Just so I can plan my schedule."

Ryan pretended to think, staring thoughtfully at the ceiling while keeping his arm securely locked around Naim's waist. "Well... my apartment gets pretty lonely, honestly. I'm worried the Entity might sneak in through the window and get me one of these days."

Naim rolled his eyes with a soft laugh, pressing his nose affectionately against the scruff of Ryan's cheek. "You have three roommates, Ryan. It's practically a crowded dorm."

"Details," Ryan murmured, turning his head to press a warm, lingering kiss against Naim's cheek. He went quiet for a moment, his chest expanding with a heavy breath as he rubbed his thumb over Naim's hip.

"I was actually thinking... my lease is up in two months. And your landlord is terrible. If we... if we found a place, together... I mean, statistically, we'd save on rent, and we wouldn't have to coordinate schedule hand-offs or fake excuses about cereal aisles or loud bathroom fans, because we'd just... be there. All the time. Together. To keep each other safe, obviously, but—"

He started stumbling over his words, his face flushing dark as his usual stoic composure cracked under a sudden wave of panic. "I mean, if that's too fast, forget I said anything, I just thought—"

"Ryan," Naim interrupted softly.

He reached up, cupping the side of Ryan's jaw and stopping the nervous rambling in its tracks. A soft, radiant smile bloomed across Naim's face, his dark eyes shining with quiet affection in the dim light.

"I think I can get on board with that idea," Naim whispered.

Ryan blinked, the tension melting out of his broad shoulders as a relieved, brilliant grin spread across his face. He leaned down, pressing his forehead against Naim's, letting out a long, quiet breath that brushed warm against Naim's lips.

"Yeah?" Ryan whispered, the heavy, protective line of his body softening completely. "You mean it?"

"I mean it," Naim murmured back, closing the tiny space between them to press a sweet, lingering kiss to the corner of Ryan's mouth.

Out in the shadows of the world, the Entity remained a quiet, lingering echo, but in the small, warm sanctuary of Naim’s room, it felt smaller than it ever had before. Bound together by choice, by devotion, and by a love that had bloomed out of the dark, they had nothing left to fear. Naim rested his head against the steady, rhythmic beat of Ryan's heart, closing his eyes as Ryan's large hand held him tight, ready for whatever tomorrow would bring.
