Summary:

Another from my Quotev, currently discontinued for now but hopefully in the future sometime I might make changes, plus I loved how I had written Grillster for the first time.

Chapter 1: Tranquility Calls

Chapter Text

A silent night fills the snowy atmosphere as the snowflakes settle onto the ground. Two men one of fire, and the other a skeletal being lay in one another's embrace in the darkness of their home; the warmth of the flame bodied man keeping the man in his arms safe and comforted by his loving companion throughout the night as the snow continues to fall gently outside. The former sleeping skeleton man opens his eyes, slowly glancing at the other man, his flames crackle along with his body glowing in the darkness, he extends his hand to his head allowing it to rest on the firey man's head as the flames trickle amongst his thin boney hands as he begins to purr contently. Grillby felt a hand on his head as he opens his eyes slowly to glance back at Gaster's white dim glowing pupils in the darkness looking back at him as his eyes made contact with his own. The two men exchange a never-ending gaze before returning to sleep in each other's arms. Gaster slowly opens his eyes glancing that Grillby had shifted over to the side of the couch; Gaster lifts himself from the couch quietly to enter the kitchen for a drink. Gaster enters the dimly illuminated kitchen aside from his faint white glowing pupils as a small source of light, he approaches the cupboard revealing an array of glasses, he inches his hand to a cup before his entire body froze unexpectedly. The entire surroundings of the kitchen suddenly turn dark all around where Gaster is standing; the entire kitchen is covered in ebony yet he is frozen, he is unable to move as a sudden cold sting moves across his entire body as Gaster beings to tremble from the uncontrollable cold taking over. Grillby slowly opens his eyes as he remains resting on the couch, he sees that Gaster is no longer in his presence. Grillby sits up from the couch and reaches for his glasses setting them on his head,

"He's probably checking on the boys again" he ponders in thought as he stands to his feet approaching one of the bedrooms slowly opening the door to prevent his light from stirring the smaller skeletons.

Gaster is not in his usual spot where he normally watches over the two skeleton children, Grillby slowly closes the door to let the two small skeletons rest. Grillby hears a faint voice coming from the kitchen, almost chanting as he sets his attention towards the sound.

"The void... it calls me, such... glorious cries of rejoice..."

Grillby approaches the kitchen slowly to see Gaster hunched over the countertop as he continues to chant, now trembling more violently.

"Gaster?" Grillby carefully approaches him taking caution to not cause sudden alarm.

Gaster contines to his rambling almost becoming a bit philosophical about this 'void' as his expression continues to smile widely as his white pupils continue to shrink and loose its glow. Grillby calls out Gaster's name, the skeleton man turns his head slowly his expression remains as he faces Grillby; still hunching over the kitchen counter.

"My beautiful eternal flame..." he smiles to the firey man keeping his grip on the counter, "It calls me... the glorious void... it calls for me..."

Grillby slowly approaches Gaster now facing him expressing concern, "That's lovely dear... it's quite late, I think we should head back to bed"

He offers a hand to Gaster to prevent him from falling over onto the ground. Gaster's small white pupils stare at the orange and yellow glowing hand as his slighlty unsettling grinning expression remains unchanged.

"My flame, the void... it's so beautiful I can't dismiss it" Gaster positions himself upright as he continues his philosophy, "the cold is ever so welcoming, tranquility and acedia... this is what the underground needs Grillby..."

Grillby carefully guides Gaster to the living room, he can sense the continuous physical trembling of Gaster's body along with how incredibly cold his entire body is from the touch of his boney hands despite wearing a long thick black sweater. The two sat down on the couch; Grillby consults Gaster gently as the two men sat in silence aside from Gaster continuing to murmur about the void silently. Grillby glances down at Gaster seeing his eyes zone out in his quiet ramble, the firey man leans closer planting a kiss on his forehead and embracing the skeleton in his arms as his flames dance against the darkness. Gaster's eyes dilate from the increased warmth by Grillby's flames; his eyes dilate to their normal size as he glances up to Grillby's gaze, Gaster's previous ramble disappears completely along with the previous memories of his philosophical ramble of the void. Grillby looks down once more to Gaster nuzzled against his body with quiet purring. Grillby caresses him gently as he sighs quietly in concern for his lover; Grillby sets down his glasses as soon as Gaster fell asleep in his arms, the two men return to rest ending the night somewhat peacefully.
