Chapter Text

Erin woke up to the sound of her alarm and groans. The school year had just started and she was already exhausted. She pulls her blankets off of herself and goes over to her phone to turn off the alarm. She takes the time to look through her notifications. Most of them are her friends sending her videos or one of her friends Owen telling her more facts about his favorite band at 1am. She swears he is nocturnal.

She sets her phone down and goes off to finish her morning routine. She gets dressed, brushes her teeth, and styles her hair. She also wipes away her smudged eyeliner she forgot to wipe off before going to bed. "I need to stop sleeping in my eyeliner. I look like I have crazy eyebags." When she finishes with that she grabs her iron supplements. She doesn't eat red meat because it is gross to her, so her iron is low. She takes too and makes a face at the taste. "Bleh, I swear these taste like pennies covered in syrup."

She heads to the kitchen and grabs a frozen PB&J sandwich and waits for her mom to come downstairs. While she sits at the table, she looks at what her friends sent her. It's just some videos of cats or people embarrassing themselves. She sighs and just watches the cat videos. After a few minutes her mom comes downstairs. "You ready to go?" Her mom asks. "Yeah. let me go grab my flag." Erin was part of color guard for her school's marching band. She wasn't great at it, but she wasn't super bad.

Erin headed outside and to her mom's car. She hopped into the front seat. Her mom pulled out of the driveway and headed for the school. She looked out the window while her mom drove. "So how are your classes going?" Her mom asked. "Good. My English teacher is nice" Her mom pulls into the school and stops at the front so she can get out. "Have a good day! Love you!" "Love you too mom" Erin closes the door and heads to the band room.

The school day goes on slowly until the lunch bell rings. Erin puts her bunder in her bag and walks out of her class and to the doors to the street. She puts in one of her earbuds and looks at her phone to pick an album. She scrolls through her Spotify and clicks on a playlist her friend Owen sent her. Just as she goes to look up from her phone she walks right into someone. "Holy shit I am so sorry! Are you okay?" She looks at the person she just ran into. It was Owen. "Yeah Im okay, are you?" He asked "Im fine" She smiles at him. He looks at her phone "Is that the playlist I sent you forever ago?" He smiles "Oh um yeah. I listen to it sometimes" "Im surprised you listen to it at all" He looks a little shocked. "It's a good playlist" She turns off her phone and tucks it in her pocket. She tries to ignore the sudden nervousness that fills her chest. "So where are you going?" He asks "Oh Im looking for Alyssa." "Ah okay. Have a good lunch." Owen heads off to the photography room. "Bye" Erin smiles and waves at him. She sighs and heads out the doors to go look for her friends.

The end of school finally come around and she heads outside. The weather was really nice today. "You know what, I think I'll walk home." She smiles to herself and grabs her earbuds while she heads to the crosswalk. she waits for the cars to clear out before she crosses. Once she reaches the sidewalk, she picks the same playlist as before and starts to head home.

The walk is peaceful, besides the fact that she has asthma and as to check her pace so she doesn't have an asthma attack. But all that aside it was really nice. She turned the volume up on her phone and continued to walk. In 20 minutes she got home and headed to her room. She was home alone so she blasted her music in her room.

A few hours later she looked out her window. She felt like going for a walk again. The weather was so nice, but it was night now. She thought about just walking tomorrow. "Nah" She grabs the pepper spray off her dresser and shoves it in her pocket and hesds out the door.

The weather is cooler now, almost too cold for August. She shivers a little ans curses herself or not grabbing a coat. She hates the cold. She would rather be too warm than cold. As she walks she swears she can hear footsteps, but sees no one. She also hears something else... wings? She shrugs it off and keeps walking. She reaches the park and looks around a little before turning around to head back home. When she turns around there is a women right infront of her. The lady was taller than her, had long, neat blonde hair. She was pale, like really pale. Erin nearly jumped out of her skin. "Oh um hi..." Erin says "Is there anything I can help you with?" The lady looks at Erin for a moment and nods. "Im hungry." Erin looks at the lady. She looks like she is old, but young? She clothes looked like they were from the Victorian era, but she looked like she was atleast 20. "I can buy you something from the grocery store." Erin offers with a polite smile. The lady smiles. "Thank you" "Of course! I can lead the way"

Erin starts to walk to the grocery store nearby. The lady follows close behind. Too close almost. As they get closer the other lady seems to be... smelling Erin? And before Erin knows it the lady grabs her but the arm and pulls her into a patch of forest. "AH!- I don't think the store is this way!" Erin reaches for her pepper spray, but it isn't in her pocket. Erin notices it in the lady's hand as she drags them deeper into the woods. "How the hell-" The lady shoves Erin against a tree and she lets out a wheezy breath "What- what is happening?" Erin tries to push the lady away from her. The lady frowns a little "I am sorry, you seemed so nice" Before Erin had time to question the lady bit into her neck. "AH" The lady covers Erin's mouth and after a few seconds Erins vision goes black and she falls to the floor.
