Chapter Text
Prologue
I look at the report laying on my desk.
I sigh.
“Not another one!”
I begin reading.
Mayday Parker.
Advanced individual, spider-like powers, daughter of Peter Parker.
Ex-Red Room agent.
Not registered.
I growl.
At least she’s not a mutie.
My aide knocks.
“Come in.”
“Senator Kelly, the Secretary of The Department of Damage Control is ready to see you.”
I nod.
I plan to make sure this matter comes to his attention.
Mayday Parker needs to be controlled.
Before she can do anyone damage.
Chapter 1
I slowly open my eyes.
My head hurts.
I look around.
This isn't home.
I sit up.
“Where am I?”
I’m laying on a semi comfy cot in an empty room.
I immediately peg the fake wall on the far-side of the room.
I get up and walk over.
“Hello? I know you can see me…”
Nothing.
I cross my arms.
“Seriously?”
I walk along the wall, running my fingers over it.
Definitely fake.
“And whoever built this place needs to work on their hiding skills.”
A speaker clicks on.
“You're awake.”
I freeze.
That voice.
I don't recognize it.
“Why am I here? Are you Hydra?”
The voice replies.
“No, my dear girl. I am not Hydra.”
“Then who are you?”
Silence.
“Why won't you show yourself?”
“Because I don't think you're ready.”
I roll my eyes.
“That's not creepy at all.”
“You have been through a great deal, Mayday.”
I freeze.
“How do you know my name?”
“I know a lot about you, Mayday. And if you want I could help you know more.”
I freeze.
“My memories?”
“Yes.”
Chapter 2
I hang up the phone.
“WHAT DO THEY MEAN TALKING TO MADAME HYDRA WOULD BE A DANGER TO HER SAFETY!!!”
“MAYDAY’S IN DANGER AND THE GOVERNMENT IS WORRIED ABOUT PROTOCOL!”
I pace across the room.
“She knows where Mayday is!”
I stop.
“And we're just supposed to sit here because it's dangerous?”
Clint looks at me.
“Peter.”
“What?”
“You're pacing.”
“I'm aware.”
“You're also talking to yourself.”
I glare at him.
“I'm thinking.”
“Loudly.”
I snap.
I turn to Cooper.
“Tell me, EX Hydra agent. WHO TOOK MAYDAY!”
He shrinks back.
“I don’t know.”
“THEN LEARN!”
He flinches.
“You think I don't want to know where she is?”
I go quiet.
“She's the only person I remember from HYDRA who ever made me feel like I wasn't alone.”
I pause.
A BAD idea strikes me.
“I know!”
They stare at me.
“I MIGHT have someone who can help.”
