Work Text:
“I’m heading home. See you tomorrow.” Harvey said as he walked out his office, shrugging on his blazer he did so.
Donna looked up from her desk, bidding Harvey goodbye as she worked on finishing up on a couple emails. A few minutes later, she was ready to leave and so grabbed her bag before walking through the quiet hallways of the firm, the office almost devoid of people apart from a couple associates scattered around.
She was walking towards the elevator when she abruptly stopped at the sight of Harvey leaning over Mike’s desk, looking over his shoulder at whatever work Mike was doing, practically caging him in, arms pressed against Mike’s.
Not that Mike seemed all that bothered by it.
Donna watched as Harvey whispered something into Mike’s ear, making him smile softly, before patting Mike on his back as he pulled away. Mike followed, getting up from his seat and grabbing the documents he had been working on.
Harvey turned away from Mike’s desk, faltering slightly at the sight of Donna as he turned to walk back to his office causing Mike to almost walk into the back of him.
“You're not heading home?” Donna asked.
“No, not yet, someone hasn't finished their grunt work.” Harvey replied, looking back at Mike as he spoke.
“Hey, I’ve had a lot to do today. Besides, I've only got a bit more left. It’s not like you have to help me.” Mike said as he lifted the documents in his hand.
Harvey rolled his eyes in lieu of a reply, walking towards his office, Mike following behind him.
Donna knew that if it had been any other associate that had been working late, struggling to keep up with their work, Harvey wouldn't have even cast them a glance, let alone help them with their work.
But it was Mike and so she watched as he and Mike settled into Harvey’s office, Harvey seeming to take some of his workload as they sat down on his couch.
-
“You didn't have to stay behind with me.”
Harvey looked up from the documents, rolling his eyes before he spoke.
“It's fine, Mike.”
“No really, I can get this done-”
“I don’t want to go home without you.” Harvey said, effectively ending the conversation as he went back to his work, leaving Mike a little stunned before he snapped out of it, a smile growing on his face.
“You care about me.”
“Mike-”
“Admit it.” Mike teased, elbowing Harvey as he did so.
“Just finish your work so we can get home.”
—
Over the next couple of weeks, Donna noticed the stolen glances between the two when they thought no one was watching, hands lingering on each other just a touch too long to be brushed off as platonic but not enough for her hypothesis that maybe they were more than friends to be confirmed.
She vowed to keep a closer eye on them.
—
It had been a slow day at the firm, Donna working idly at her desk, her mind easily straying away from her work.
That was at least before Mike walked into Harvey’s office, settling in the chair in front of Harvey. Through the intercom, Donna listened in on Mike and Harvey speaking. Not on purpose. Okay, maybe a little on purpose.
She caught the tail end of their conversation, staring at the computer in front of her as they spoke, pretending as though she wasn’t eavesdropping.
“I actually kinda like working with him.”
“He’s not a bad lawyer.” Harvey replied noncommittally.
“I mean y’know, we have fun.”
“You guys thinking about moving in together?” Harvey asked.
At that, Donna turned around to look at the two of them through the glass screen, watching as Harvey’s jaw tightened, eyes narrowing as he looked at Mike.
Was he-
“Jealous?” Mike replied, a teasing smile growing wide on his face.
Harvey looked up at him, about to speak when he noticed Donna watching through the glass window. She quickly turned around, not before noticing how Harvey had switched off the intercom.
Weird.
—
The next week, Harvey had asked Donna to drop off some files to his apartment on her way home from work, which is how she ended up nearly walking in on Mike and Harvey, all but having sex against the front door of Harvey’s apartment.
Her eyes widened as she watched them from the elevator of Harvey’s apartment complex, having not expected the night to end with her seeing the way Harvey had Mike pinned against the door, lips pressed against his as his hands wandered under Mike’s shirt.
Donna snapped out of her shock once she saw that Harvey had managed to open the door of his apartment, pushing Mike inside, closing the door behind him.
She definitely wasn't going to hand him the files now unless she wanted to get an eyeful.
-
Mike woke up to the persistent sound of knocking coming from the door of Harvey’s apartment, groaning at the noise as he pressed his face into Harvey’s soft pillow, breathing in the scent of his shampoo as he pulled the white duvet over his head in an attempt to muffle the noise.
He really wasn't a morning person.
Realising that Harvey was in the shower and was not going to be answering the door anytime soon, Mike got up out of bed, grumbling to himself as he shrugged on one of Harvey’s t-shirts before he made his way to the front door.
Rubbing his eyes, Mike opened the door to see none other than Donna stood in front of him, a smirk on her face at the sight of Mike opening the door instead of Harvey
“Mike?” Donna asked, one eyebrow raised in a questioning manner, “What are you doing here?”
Mike stared at her for a second, sleep-addled and unsure of what to say that wouldn’t incriminate Harvey and himself.
“I was dropping the files for the merger off-”
“The same files he told me to bring him?” Donna replied, waving the manila folder she had been holding in front of him.
“Oh I-” Mike started speaking, willing his brain to come up with a reasonable excuse when Harvey walked out from the bedroom, calling out his name.
“Mike, is everything okay?”
Mike turned around to look at Harvey, almost choking on his own spit at the sight of him clad in nothing but a white towel wrapped low around his waist, rubbing his hair with a smaller towel as he walked closer to the door, before pausing at the sight of Donna at the door.
Donna’s eyes flicked between Mike and Harvey, a Cheshire cat-like smile forming on her face as she took in the sight in front of her.
“Got you the files.” Donna said instead of outright acknowledging what was happening, manicured fingers holding out the files for Harvey to grab.
Harvey walked over, taking the files, glancing over at Mike’s face as he did so, thanking Donna as she bid them goodbye, leaving only a knowing smile behind.
Mike closed the door, leaning against it with a slightly panicked look in his eyes as he looked over at Harvey.
“Maybe she doesn’t know.”
Harvey rolled his eyes as he said, “It's Donna. She knows.”
