Chapter Text
It’s been two hundred years. Two hundred years since the incident in Shibuya and the Culling Games. Eighty-six since the Sumerian accident. They didn’t stay. Some did, but they’re long gone. Now Sorcerers have gotten even more recluse. Over the course of those years, strange things started happening. He was outside when he saw the news that a baby in a Keikei hospital was born bioluminescent. That was in China. Yuji watched as more ‘gifted’ individuals began popping up. At first, people were scared. Horrified even. Those who were ‘gifted’, were bullied. The normal people didn’t like the fact that a new kind of human was replacing them. It reminded him of that one comic book series where the gifted people were heroes, but people still hated them and called them mutants.
But as time passed, being ‘gifted’ became the new norm. Especially after they figured out what the cause of it was. A bone in the pinky toe had evolved since it was not useful. He thinks that appendixes must have died out too. Completely useless organs. Well aside from the fact that it stores helpful bacteria or whatever. Anyways, they called the powers Quirks. And they built a society around it. Almost all kids are born these days without that bone now. When they turn five, they manifest their quirk. Kind of like when a Sorcerer manifests their innate technique.
There’s also heroes. Because ‘with great power, comes great responsibility’. Or irresponsibility for those people who made the rise of heroes happen in the first place. That was a very harsh age at the beginning. Yuji actually had to leave Japan for a bit, because it was worse there. But then he came back because of the serious influx of Curses. Which he took care of by putting Poukuna in the center of the mess. Even if he is a blob, he’s still got an overwhelming amount of Cursed Energy. That took care of most of them. Then came All Might. A Hero who single handedly took down most of the villains faster than any of the other Heroes. He also took down the big bad boss of villainy, and now everything is kind of okay. Calmer. Heroes are a given, so are villains. Everything centers around Musutafu, which isn’t in Sendai, so Yuji is currently chilling. Very relaxed. Or as relaxed as he can be with the constant random influxes of Curses. He’s decided that quirks are not helping. Constant jealousy between all people, not just the quirkless. Except, the quirkless are all born with Cursed Energy now. But they are no longer born with their Innate Techniques engraved onto their frontal lobes. Now it has to be awakened in a tense situation. But they don’t know that, because the Hero Public Safety Commission has teamed up with the Higher Ups to keep Jujutsu Sorcery under the wraps, all major past incidents erased, and the existence of Curses a secret.
They choose who becomes a Sorcerer now. They choose what gets released to the news whenever a big enough accident happens between a Curse and a human. Thankfully, Yuji gets to work independently from the new and improved Jujutsu Tech. A school where certain quirkless people go. No quirks allowed. Because people with quirks don’t have Cursed Energy, and will never have Cursed Energy.

He was at the park when he saw the kid. He had just finished exorcising a Grade Three Curse. A nasty little fella that lured kids over and played ‘Hide and Seek’ with them. If found three times, it will kill the kid and eat them. Yuji turned around to see a little boy, no older than five, staring at him from the swingset. It was a wide eyed, kind of creepy, stare. One that makes it obvious he saw it. Usually people have to awaken their Innate Techniques to see Curses these days. Of course there’s the rare ‘I can see ghosts’ people every so often too. Maybe he’s one of those. He thinks. He turns on his heel to walk away, but the kid moves, hopping off the swing and running over to him. Yuji sighs when he feels a tiny hand clamp on his leg. But his muscles stiffen as a massive wave of Cursed Energy flows through him. What the-! He looks down at the kid with a surprised expression, but the boy doesn’t seem to realise that he just flooded Yuji’s nervous system with a terrifying amount of Energy.
The boy looks up to him and smiles. “What was that? You made it pop like a balloon!” Yuji sighs again and shakes the kid off. “Shouldn’t you be wary of strangers? You know, ‘stranger danger’. Your parents ever teach you that?” The kid shakes his head and reaches for Yuji’s leg again, but the grubby little hand is dodged. “I only have my mom! My name’s Izuku. Izuku Midoriya! I like All Might! Do you have a quirk? What is it? Can I see it?! I don’t have a quirk yet, but I’m super excited to get one! Kacchan already got his, it’s explosions! Hey, why are you so tall? You’re really tall!” Yuji steps back in shock from the sudden flurry of questions and personal data he did not need to know. Who cares about this Kacchan kid?! He sounds like a brat if his quirk is explosive! Why is this kid so talkative?! He might as well tell me his home address, what he eats for dinner, and when he goes to bed every night! As if the green haired menace could read his thoughts, he continues to info dump. “Wanna know where I live? I finally memorised my address! It’s Musutafu-” “No! Don’t tell me where you live! That’s dangerous!” The kid pouts and opens his mouth to say something else, but Yuji is saved by the mother, who is calling his name and rushing over. “Izuku! I told you not to wander off! I’m so sorry sir, he’s really…spirited!”
Yuji waves his hand dismissively. “That’s okay miss, really. I hope you have a nice day.” He quickly turns around and books it before the kid could start talking again. He didn’t care if he looked suspicious. He always does with his hood, but it’s to hide his face. Well that was terrifying. Wait, if the kid lives in Musutafu, then what’s he doing here in Sendai? He shakes his head, getting rid of the thought quickly. He couldn’t afford to be curious. Not in this time and age.
He makes it back to his apartment and locks the door, collapsing against it with a sigh. Social activity really takes it out of him these days. It’s kind of sad. Especially since he used to be such a cheerful and easy going guy. He blames it on his uncle. Who is currently snacking on the chips Yuji literally just bought yesterday. The chips that Yuji swears he put on the top of the pantry cabinets. “Oh come on! How can you even get up there with those tiny little arms and legs?!” Sukuna smirks, putting another chip into his greedy little mouth. “I’m not giving up my secrets brat.” Yuji throws off his jacket and marches over to the counter, grabbing the little fleshy blob that made up his uncle and shakes him. “Stop eating all of my food.” Sukuna squirms in his grip and tries to bite his hand. “No.” Yuji throws him to the cat bed that is specifically for Sukuna. He hits the floor with a satisfying thump, missing the bed entirely. “I’m going to get a crate. Just you wait!” Sukuna groans and drags his pathetic little body onto the bed. “Whatever.” Then he closes his eye and promptly falls asleep. Yuji sighs and picks up the near empty chip carton, taking a towel out and wiping off the crumbs, then flops onto the couch and turns on the news. He takes out a chip and chews on it aggressively. “I was looking forward to eating these, damn it. How can he even grab things without fingers?!”
He sees the kid again a few days later. Thankfully he’s hidden, so Midoriya can’t see him. But Yuji stays and watches him because he’s got at least three Curses following him. It’s because of his crazy stockpile of Cursed Energy. It’s like he’s a beacon for Curses. I wonder if he’s got a Cursed Object on him like I did… Yuji shudders when he remembers Kenjaku’s story of how he was born. It’s also how he learned that he was basically immortal since he’s half Curse. What an asshole. But I guess he’s still my mother in a weird way. When Midoriya’s mom takes her kid into a house, Yuji walks out and exorcises the Curses quickly before they could enter the home.
This happens over the course of three weeks. Yuji hides from the kid. He exorcises Curses that come out and try to latch onto the kid. Eventually he makes a barrier around the house to protect the people who live there. But it doesn’t stop the Curses from following the kid everywhere else. He always manages to attract at least five everyday no matter where he goes.
On the final night, a Grade Two Curse descends upon the house. It almost manages to get through the barrier, but Yuji catches it in time and exorcises it. But this tells him that the older the kid gets, the more Curses he’ll attract. They’ll also start to grow in strength too. So he makes the decision to follow the Midoriyas back home.
He slams the door behind him, unintentionally waking Sukuna up. The blob watches in annoyance as his nephew starts to pack up the minimal amount of materials they had. “What are you doing brat? You finally get caught?”
“No.”
Sukuna sits up and toddles over to Yuji, sitting down on the rug with a scowl. “Then why are we packing?”
“We?”
“Fine. Why are you packing?”
Yuji sits back on his heels and sighs. “There’s a kid with Gojo level Cursed Energy that I have to keep an eye on.” Sukuna’s eye glints with interest. Which can’t be good. “Oh? Gojo level you say. Does he have white hair?” Yuji shakes his head. “Green.” Sukuna huffs and flops backwards. “Then I don’t care.” Good. Yuji picks him up and grabs the crate, throwing him in there with unneeded aggression. “Ow! This is abuse!” He slams the door shut and locks it, throwing a blanket over it.
“Go to sleep. We’re moving to Musutafu.”
