Work Header

no need to ask cause it's my darling

Summary:

What to do when aibou is too busy mixing to come cuddle with you?

Notes:

title from Fujii Kaze's 死ぬのがいいわ (Shinunoga e-wa). I've been thinking of writing something for my favourite pairing in EL6 for awhile now, so I hope this is adequate and enjoyable at the very least!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Thump, thump, thump, thump—

Thump, thump, thump—

The thumping doesn't stop.

Tsubasa sighed, taking his headphones off and spinning around on his chair to face the bed that was placed next to his desk. The sound stopped the moment red eyes met hot pink ones. Teiku was sitting on his bed with his legs off the edge of it — arms crossed over his chest like he meant business and his foot thumping on the floor. Though, he really just looked like an angry bunny — which wasn’t really that menacing at all. Their intertwined gaze breaks for a second when Tsubasa glances at the clock, realizing that it was way later than he thought it was.

The thumping of his foot’s stopped, yet the ravenette's presence in the room was made very clear to him now, serving as a reminder for Tsubasa to wrap things up for tonight. He did have a bad habit of getting carried away with work sometimes. There's just a little bit more left to do though.. Tsubasa gives Teiku a pitiful expression, hand lingering on his keyboard still. A little more, and he’ll be done, surely Teiku understands? He doesn’t try to turn back to the screen or break eye contact though.

“Hey..” If Tsubasa thought that the look he was giving Teiku was pitiful, the ravenette’s voice was double — no, triple that. It's unfair how he could influence Tsubasa's feelings with just an expression. Even the way he’s calling out to him sounds pitiful. Open palms clenched into tight fists, similarly to how his heart did too. Mixing was worth it, but the rest of it could wait. “Okay, okay. I understand.” There’s no sane person who would continue to work after seeing a face like that. How could he possibly prioritize work over him?

Once his progress was saved, the laptop was quickly shut down as Tsubasa pushed himself off the chair. He took the time to stretch first — seeing the brightened expression on Teiku's face made him already feel way more refreshed after working for so long. There wasn’t any time wasted, he didn’t have much time left to waste being away from Teiku. Tsubasa flops onto the bed next to Teiku, to which he’s quickly enveloped within the ravenette’s arms. The blonde lets it happen, infact, he doesn’t really fight it at all.

“I missed you.” A soft voice murmurs into his ear, one that sounded way different from the one he was hearing from his headphones. “That’s silly. I was in your view this whole time.” Tsubasa pushes Teiku away a little to look at his face, admire the expression he had on right now. His round cheeks and round eyes, that small smile tugging up the edges of his lips, it’s unbearable. Probably the most beautiful guy in the world, if he had to be honest. “You were, but you were away from me.” Teiku’s cheeks puffed up a little, or maybe Tsubasa imagined that it did.

“Well, you’re right. I’m close to you now, aren’t I?”

“Be close to me all the time.” He’s being pulled in again, and hopes to high heavens that Teiku couldn’t hear the frantic beating of his heart right now. Isn’t that kind of thing something that you shouldn’t be saying so casually? “Okay. I’ll try to.” It was hard to reply, Tsubasa’s brain was lagging as he tried to catch up still. He wants me to be close to him, all the time? Well, maybe it wasn’t that weird. They’re each other’s partner after all. Partners should be close to each other, right?

A soft hand cups Tsubasa’s cheek, and it has the blonde making direct eye contact with the shiny pink-eyed man in front of him. “You’re always working way too hard.” That tone in his voice tells him that Teiku’s equal parts proud of him as he is annoyed. He knows, they’ve had less time to hang out casually lately — between tour concerts, practice and mixing. This is nice though, laying comfortably in bed with Teiku.

“I can’t just say that I’ll stop, y’know?—” Tsubasa’s hand moves to cup Teiku’s cheek too, squishing it a little. It’d be something impossible for him to not work hard and put his best into everything. “So why don’t we work hard together, okay?” He watches Teiku’s expression twist at the question, thinking about it before a smile returns on his face.

“Yeah, okay.”

There wouldn’t be a world where he isn’t Teiku’s partner, and there wouldn’t be a world where he wouldn’t want to keep moving forward with him.

“But, still! You have to take breaks too!—” Tsubasa laughs, leaning into Teiku’s hand as the ravenette continues to lecture him anyways. “I was starting to think that you’d started to hate me.” Teiku’s expression twists as he says it, putting on a more pitiful act on purpose this time. Pouting’s definitely foul play, isn’t it? “Yeah, I know, I know!” Tsubasa could feel his own smile grow. How silly, that sort of thing. It’s impossible that he’d ever hate Teiku.

Tsubasa hugs Teiku properly, moving so much closer to him that they’re basically cuddling at this point. Teiku doesn’t seem uncomfortable with it either, so he just enjoys the warmth while he has it. This is nice. Maybe Teiku’s right, he should spend more time with him. “I think I’ll spend the rest of my life with you, Take.” the words come out from him naturally — almost as if he didn’t have to think twice about saying it. It doesn’t sound all that bad though. Maybe they’d still be singing together when they’re old and wrinkly.

“Sounds nice—” Tsubasa couldn’t see it, but he could definitely hear it. The smile in Teiku’s tone gave away just how contented he was with that. Sounds like he’s thinking of it too, isn’t he? “I’ll spend the rest of my life with you too, Bassa.” He didn’t really think much of it when he said it to Teiku, but hearing words like that come from Teiku himself feels a lot more different, doesn’t it? It made him feel... something. Tsubasa’s not sure what to call it, or if this kind of feeling even had a name to it.

Maybe it’s something special that only Teiku knows how to make him feel.

Maybe they feel the same way about each other.

“Anyways, we should sleep now.” Teiku mumbled, sounding a little more muffled. Tsubasa hummed in reply, eyes blinking sleepily as they fell shut already. There’s no need to tell him that twice.

“Mm. Good night, Teiku.”

“Good night, Tsubasa.”

I'll keep working hard to post more EL6 ship fics too. ♡
