CONFESSION #411:
A little birdie told me KDR's about to go down under 👀 Apparently the university's finally had enough of their asshole-in-chief. Get packing, boys!
~
"God-fucking-damnit!" Bakugou snarled, angrily shutting his phone off and tossing it onto the table, his fingers instantly shooting up to thread into his blonde hair. Everyone in the room went silent at the sight of smoke practically erupting from his red ears when he shouted, "Which one of you shitheads told that stupid fucking gossip page?! I swear to god, you fuckers better 'fess up or else—"
Kirishima, who stood at Bakugou's side, hurried to interrupt, "Hold on! We can talk about that later, Bakugou... Right now, we need to do something about that."
A thick, sickly tension filled the atmosphere as every single person in Kappa Delta Rho snapped their gazes towards a document placed neatly on the coffee table at the very centre of the living room. Bakugou clicked his tongue, placing his hands on his hips and glaring down at it, as if his crimson eyes would be enough to set it on fire.
The president of KDR clenched his jaw as he read over the words plastered on the very top of the document, all big and bold and right in his face. A declaration of war—one that he had no chance of winning.
NOTICE OF PROBATION.
Fuck, Bakugou thought, simply, knowing that no matter how much he stared at those words, they would not change. Fucking shit!
"Okay, so..." The blonde began, inhaling sharply through his nose and scratching his jaw, attempting to feign nonchalance despite the panic blooming in his gut. He took a moment to collect his thoughts—and to ensure the next words that tumbled out of his mouth weren't a string of unintelligible cusses—and then loosely gestured at the papers. "This isn't entirely a bad thing."
"Of course it is!" Kaminari exclaimed, thumbnail placed between his teeth and eyes wide with fear. "We're going to lose our house!"
"Shut it, dunce face, we're not." Bakugou reassured, snatching the document off the table. With a grunt, he flipped it open to the second page and displayed it to the group of college students huddled in the living room around him, despite knowing deep down a lot of them probably wouldn't even understand what was written in the fine print. "This says we've been placed on final disciplinary probation. What does that mean?"
"We're gonna be homeless?" Sero offered, and Bakugou sent him a sharp glare as he responded, "No."
Kaminari raised his hand. "We should start checking craigslist?"
Bakugou was now wishing they would be homeless so he'd no longer have to live with these dimwits. He wasn't sure why he was surprised—it was pretty well-known that the entirety of KDR collectively occupied three braincells, all of which belonged to Kirishima and Bakugou.
As if reading the annoyance plastered across his friend, the redheaded vice-president was next to say, "We're not homeless yet."
"...Essentially." Bakugou grunted out. "We've been given a few conditions, and as long as we meet them by the end of this semester, we should be fine."
"...Okay, and what exactly are these conditions?" Monoma Neito asked from the back of the room, leaning against a wall with a skeptical brow raised.
Bakugou glared at him, irritated with his snarky tone—though he knew that was a norm for the other blonde in the fraternity. The president chose to ignore it, however, his attention focused on the problem at hand... which was the insanely long list of conditions given to them by the University. "...Completely fuckin' insane, if you ask me."
Monoma snorted humourlessly. "Oh, so we are basically homeless—"
"No, we aren't!" Kirishima frowned, moving to snatch the piece of paper out of Bakugou's hands. His eyes narrowed in concentration as he scanned over the page, all whilst muttering, "Right, let's see... No further violations, community service, fundraising, campus events, public relations—what the fuck?! All of this in three months?!"
Tetsutetsu shook his head in dismay. "It's over."
"That doesn't sound too bad!" Ashido Mina piped, from her place on the couch. While she wasn't exactly a member of the fraternity, she was Kirishima's girlfriend, and that constituted her being there almost all of the time. As of the past fifteen minutes since Bakugou had called on an emergency meeting, she'd been diligently listening to the situation with a concerned frown on her pretty face. "It's just a few things, we'll be fine!"
"I don't think you get it, Mina," Kirishima said in dismay, his shoulders now fully deflated and expression devoid of all hope. "It says here we have to 'demonstrate a measurable improvement in our public reputation' and 'establish KDR as a positive presence on campus'."
Mina didn't seem convinced. "So what, you just have to be nice to people! That isn't so hard!"
But the woman went silent the moment every pair of eyes in the room turned towards their president, and a collective understanding passed through the crowd at the sight of the enraged look on Bakugou's face.
Mina shuddered, now understanding that things were a lot more complicated than she had initially thought. "...Okay. So you're giving up?"
"As if!" Bakugou growled, snatching the documents out of his vice-president's hands. He was a lot of things, but the blonde was not a quitter—and he definitely wasn't going to sit back and allow the fat and balding Dean to shutdown a fraternity that was more than fifty years old. It was the very foundation of Greek society at UA University, for fuck's sake!! "I'm gonna go right over to that balding bastard and make 'em change his mind right this fucking second—"
"That's gonna make things a million times worse!" Kaminari groaned, curling into a ball on the couch as he accepted his fate. "Let's face it, it's over. It was great while it lasted—"
"Wait!" Mina shot to her feet, her eyes practically bulging out of their sockets. Instantly, everyone in the room turned their attention towards her, watching in confusion as she grinned and announced, "I may have a plan."
Bakugou resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "What the hell could you possibly—"
"I know someone."
Sero gasped. "Mina, no matter how desperate we are, we can't just hire a hitman to kill the dean—"
"What?! No!" She clicked her tongue, waving off the ridiculous sentence that had just come out of Sero's mouth. "I mean, I know someone who can help you guys meet all these conditions—especially the reputation one. That's kinda her whole thing."
Bakugou raised a suspecting brow. "...You wanna bring in a PR manager?"
Mina blinked at him. "She's a marketing student. The best one on campus, in fact! And she's also my roommate!"
As Bakugou immediately rolled his eyes and turned to walk away, Kirishima furrowed his brows in skepticism and began, "I don't know, Mina... There's a lot, and we'd be asking too much of her—"
"Not at all! She'd be glad to help if I ask her." Mina grinned, clapping her palms together decidedly. "So, should we give it a try?"
"No." Bakugou called out, already halfway out the living room. "We don't need a fucking crisis management team, and I sure as hell don't need some extra lecturing me about how to run my frat. I'll solve this on my own."
"Bakugou, wait!" Kirishima called out, desperate to get the president to understand any form of reason. The boys were about to be homeless, why could Bakugou not put his ego aside for once to understand that? "I think it'd be really great if we try—"
"This discussion is over." He shouted in response, footsteps thumping against the carpeted staircase as he retreated to his room on the first floor. "I'm getting dressed and goin' to meet the old man myself. Any of you got a problem with that?!"
Silence followed as the fraternity exchanged defeated glances, knowing arguing with Bakugou was futile when he'd already made up his mind. Mina gave Kirishima a pleading look with her big eyes but all the redhead could do in response was shrug and throw his hands up in defeat.
And then ten minutes later, they all watched Bakugou storm out the front door.
-
"Izuku!" Bakugou exclaimed, storming straight into the Student Affairs Office without a second thought. He ignored the terrified yelps of everyone in the room and headed straight toward the largest desk in the corner, where a certain green-haired student sat behind a computer scribbling into a notebook. "Where the hell is old man Nezu?!"
Midoriya Izuku jumped, startled at the appearance of his childhood friend. He thought he'd have gotten used to Bakugou's abrupt visits by now, but it looked like that wasn't the case yet. Panicked but not surprised, the student assistant yanked his glasses off and began, "Kacchan, you can't just barge in here!"
"I asked you a question, nerd." Bakugou hissed, slamming a hand down on Midoriya's desk, his crimson eyes narrowing threateningly. "I've got a bone to pick with 'em, so tell me if he's in his office—"
"Oh, I heard about KDR." Midoriya frowned, awkwardly reaching out to pat his friend's hand in attempt at comforting him. "Don't worry, I know a real estate agent—"
"We are not gonna be homeless!" Bakugou exclaimed, irritated at that being everyone's first assumption. It was like they had absolutely no faith in him at all! "Just answer my fucking question!"
"He's actually here, in one of the conference rooms." Midoriya finally replied, getting to his feet to lead the way. "He had a meeting with someone from the student activities committee, but that was supposed to be over an hour ago. Guess she's still going at it."
Bakugou's brows knitted in confusion as he followed his friend through a set of double doors and down a hallway lined with conference rooms on each side. "Well, tell 'em to hurry the fuck up. I've got urgent business."
Midoriya stopped in front of a certain door that was wedged slightly open, enough for a loud and passionate voice to filter through, practically echoing down the empty hall. Chuckling nervously, Midoriya peered through the little glass panel installed into the door as a sort of makeshift window before announcing, "She'll probably throw a laptop at me if I do."
"The fuck are you even talkin' about?" Bakugou grunted, shoving Midoriya to the side and getting ready to do the same to the door that stood in his way—but then he froze in place as the voice flooded through the crack again.
"—I just don't get your reasoning!"
It was a feminine voice, the blonde realised, one that he'd never heard before—and he was familiar with practically every female on campus. Curiosity getting the best of him, he clicked his tongue and leaned forward to peek through the glass.
And he saw you.
You stood at the very front of the conference room, dressed in a simple hoodie and sweatpants with your hands frantically moving around as you spoke. Behind you on the wall was a presentation—Bakugou couldn't exactly see its contents from where he was standing—and beside you was a poster. The podium in front of you housed a laptop and two cups of coffee, both of which seemed rather empty. But the most jarring sight of all was that of the man sitting at the table opposite you; Dean Nezu, with his head held in his hands as he gravely shook his head at the arguments spewing out of your mouth.
"Miss L/N, I believe I've made it very clear," He began, lifting his head to flash you his tired eyes. "that an event like this is impossible. The funding itself—"
"Okay, the funding." You quickly interrupted, tapping against your keyboard. The PowerPoint slide changed behind you, and you hurried to gesture at it before continuing, "Slide seventeen—"
Nezu groaned. "I've looked at slide seventeen—"
"Then you'll have noticed I already found three sponsors willing to cover 75% of the cost."
The dean wavered, his shoulders slumping. "What about safety—"
"Campus security already agreed to stay behind."
"It's unreasonable to expect them to stay until midnight for an After Dark festival—" Nezu countered, but you were quick to interrupt, "Except they've already agreed. They'd be given bonuses taken out of the entrance fees, as well as free food."
Dean Nezu opened his mouth once, then twice, attempting to come up with some sort of argument—but before he could, you continued, "I've contacted the newspaper, the alumni association, and every local business surrounding campus."
Nezu sighed, looking utterly defeated. "Why are you doing this?"
That was when you offered him the cheekiest of grins, your shoulders moving upward in a lazy shrug. "I thought it would be fun."
Bakugou blinked, gaze darting from you to the prickly, stubborn Dean who never wavered once his mind was made. Surely, he'd turn you down? Surely he wouldn't agree to every unreasonable demand that came out of your mouth?
What the hell is this chick?
"Fine." Nezu relented, eager to just get this over with. "Email me the logistics."
Bakugou scoffed in disbelief as you clapped your palms together, flashing the old man another one of your smiles. Without taking his eyes off of you as you wrapped up your conversation with the Dean and gathered your things, the blonde muttered, "Nerd. Who the fuck is she?"
"Y/N?" Midoriya snorted, glancing down at his watch and wondering if he'd been away from his desk for too long. "I told you, she's on the student events committee. She's a marketing major, so this is kinda her thing."
Bakugou blinked, turning his gaze towards his friend as he processed his words—they sounded all too familiar. "Marketing?"
"Yeah." Midoriya tilted his head to the side. "You've never met her before? She's Mina's roommate."
Everything clicked for Bakugou then. He now understood why Mina had insisted you'd be helpful, why even Kirishima had tried to talk him into agreeing to her plan. Before he could continue getting lost in thoughts even further than he already was, the door he was standing in front of was shoved fully open with a tremendous amount of force.
His gaze snapped down, landing on you standing in front of him, carrying way too many things. A poster was tucked underneath your armpit and you held your laptop and about a dozen papers in your hands, your two coffee cups stacked on top of them.
He blinked down at you, his brow twitching when you met his confused gaze with an annoyed one of your own.
"Move."
Bakugou almost let out a shocked laugh. "What?"
"You're standing at the door." You elaborated, stifling an exhausted yawn.
His glare hardened. "I know."
"...I'm glad you do." You bluntly stated, looking utterly bored with this interaction. "Now move."
He stepped to the side before even realising what he'd done, and a second later you'd walked past him, down the hall where he'd just come from.
Bakugou stared at your retreating form in awe, feeling Midoriya's amused eyes scan his face with intrigue.
And then the blonde snapped out of his daze and exclaimed, "Did that bitch just tell me to move?!"
-
Mina was sitting on the couch, snuggled up into Kirishima's side and sadly chewing on some potato chips when Bakugou slammed the door open roughly and stormed into the house, as he usually did every single day.
With every other boy in the house having retreated to their rooms to search for new places to stay, Kirishima and Mina had been left in the living room with Kaminari and Sero, who were both already lighting up blunts to smoke away the pain. The pair immediately stopped, however, when their blonde president marched into the living room and sent them sharp glares.
"Raccoon eyes." He announced, turning said glare toward Mina with his hands on his hips and a newfound conviction burning in his crimson eyes.
She slowly stopped chewing. "...Yes?"
Bakugou swallowed, pushing back all his pride, before commanding, "Get your roommate."
Kaminari and Sero dropped whatever it was they were smoking, their lips parted in shock. Kirishima's eyes went wide, sitting up straight in preparation to throw about a hundred questions at his best friend—but before he could, Mina jumped to her feet and yelled, "What?! You want Y/N—"
Bakugou gagged. "I want her skills, yes—"
Mina's grin was so wide it practically split her face in half. "Oh, this is going to be fun."
Bakugou was getting more annoyed by the minute. Rolling his eyes, he deadpanned, "Don't."
"I didn't say anything." A moment later she'd yanked her phone straight out of her pocket, thumbs rapidly working to tap against the screen. "You won't regret this, she's literally the best—"
"I'm so lost right now." Sero slurred, clearly still high, and Kaminari furrowed his brows in agreement before asking, "What made you change your mind?"
Bakugou grunted and walked away, seemingly finished with this conversation. "Who cares? What matters is you have until tomorrow to get her here, in front of me, with a plan."
