Serena Yvonne Gabena, what was there to say about her that hadn't already been said, smart, pretty, kalos champion, the list goes on. recently she took up photography for some reprieve of her duties as champion, she went around kalos capturing the wonders of the region.
one night, while taking pictures, she stumbled across a shiny shell of what looked to be a bug type pokemon. it somewhat resembled a centiskorch, but was a reflective black, and too round to be one. she took a picture "weird new bug type. shiny shell :D" she wrote on the white space of the film.
as she kept walking, something in the distance caught her eye. a house sat in the distance. "lonely lil house" she wrote in the blank space in the film.
upon stepping up to the door, she found it was unlocked, without thinking of the possible dangers that could befall, she went inside.
the inside of the house was old, old enough to have been abandoned for decades. the floorboards were rotting, shifting uncomfortably under her weight, despite that she began singing to herself while taking pictures. mostly of old paintings and anything else interesting in the house. after taking a particular picture, she noticed something in the darkness of a doorway. it resembled something of a face, though it was too dark in the picture, as the flash had only illuminated the focal point.
Serena decided she had gotten enough pictures, and was admittedly creeped out, so she turned around, only to come face to face with a peculiar looking girl
the girl was dressed like a hex maniac, and looked just as surprised to see Serena as Serena was to see her. they stood there in silence before serena spoke up
"hello?" serena hesitantly said
"oh- um, hi..." the girl said, flustered and blushing
"i suppose i should explain what's going on and- you know, why I'm... well, here" the girl continued
"i uhh, kinda... live here? i guess you could say? only because rent's pretty cheap and I'm,,, down on money"
"so when you came in i kinda... followed you... i know it's a mess and i probably scared you but- I've never seen a girl so pretty" the girl's blush deepened tenfold before she stammered "oh... i said that part out loud"
this was a lot at once. there was this girl, who she didn't expect to be there, and the worst part was, she was exactly Serena's type.
by now, Serena was blushing just as much as the girl was
"i- uhh, thanks!" Serena said. both of them stood there for a few seconds, unsure of what to say
"would you maybe want to... i don't know, get coffee?" serena said
"i, uh, I'd love to!" the girl said
"I'm Edith, by the way" she continued
"oh, I'm Serena" Serena said
on their date they discussed many things, pokemon, magazines, internet drama, among other things. eventually they had to go home. serena offered to walk Edith home and Edith gladly accepted.
"you know, i really enjoyed this, i haven't had this much fun since, oh, i can't remember, but i really had a good time." Edith said
"i could say the same, I'm glad... I'm glad i got to spend time with you." serena said
they talked much more about how fun it was, and how they haven't been that happy in years. as they walked through the field back to the house, Edith couldn't help but subtly reach for Serena's hand, and as if by second nature Serena took it in hers. when they got back to the house, Edith stopped in front of Serena
"you know, i really had fun and i- i can't help but feel like i need to repay you in some way" Edith said, still holding Serena's hand
"oh, no, you don't have to repay me in any way" Serena said
Edith looked like she wanted to say something, but put it aside to run over to serena and finally, after an agonizingly long time, kiss her. it was unlike anything Serena had ever experienced. this was better than winning the pokemon league, better than entering her pokemon in the hall of fame, and definitely better than any amount of fame she had. Serena embraced Edith and did her part to make sure the kiss wasn't one sided.
two years later they got married and adopted an orphan boy they named Salem, and they were happy.
