“In the now distant past there once used to be a singular kingdom.
The Kingdom of Playco, ruled by a kind and fair King.
The King’s name was Elliot Ludwig.
When the King still ruled, the people of Playco were happy and lived without any fear, it was a time of great prosperity and peace.”
“That was until the day the King fell ill.”
“The King became plagued with an illness that slowly ate away at his body, mind and magic.
The disease left him maddened and bedridden for months before he finally passed in the night, his only daughter Princess Poppy, at the age of 12 to lead the now King-less people.”
“And while tiny and scared she had a larger heart than anyone else, she would take the throne that same month.
It was believed the beloved princess of the kingdom would be able to carry on her father’s legacy of abundant fortune.”
“However, on the day of the princess’s ascension ceremony,
the Day of Joy, the kingdom was attacked by forces under the command of their villainous and evil leader, The Prototype.”
“Under him he had rallied some of the late King’s disloyal advisers and many of the citizens, unsure of the princesses new rule. They ransacked the western border leaving wreckage in their wake. They had reached the center of the kingdom before opposition forced them into what followed as a dark 2 year period of cold war between the sides.”
“Finally both sides called for an end and a summit was scheduled where their advisers worked out a proposal for compromise splitting the land in two.
Both leaders eventually agreed to the terms of the deal and a treaty was signed to put a solemn peace between the now separated kingdoms.
Thus the kingdoms of New Playco and Betterment were divided on uncertain terms.”
“However this is not the end as Princess Poppy is determined to bring unity to her people and defeat the evil forces of Prince Prototype.
She will give her friends a happy ending.”
“The Beginning”
“I know you're excited about becoming a royal advisor, but do we really have to read this book every night?”
“I know I know it’s a bit much, Nap, I’m just so excited and nervous and excited about this whole thing. I mean, little ol’ me accepted into the princess’s trusted advisory group, I’d say I have a pretty good reason to be prepared!” DogDay breathed in hard trying to replenish his air.
“Day, you passed all your exams with flying colors, wrote and presented an impassioned speech that literally made Doey cry and, you were already accepted by Poppy personally, we were all there remember?” CatNap said.
“I know… but-“ started DogDay
CatNap sighed, knowing where this would go, “You are a great leader naturally and I have no doubt you are going to be just fine as an advisor. You have helped out basically everyone in the village ten times over and in my opinion there is no better pick for the role than you.” He spoke with resolve, wanting to get to bed.
“Yeah, you're right, Nap. There’s no point in getting in my head too much, this is the second best day of my life after all, right after meeting all of you critter crew.” He relented, “Poppy wouldn’t have chosen me if she didn’t think I had what it takes and I know just doing my best for what is best is what I do best!” He exclaimed yawningly.
“I know my friend, now please go to sleep or you’ll miss your departure time.” He deadpanned at the sleep deprived dog. He opened his mouth to expel some of his special sleeping gas.
“Alright I’m going to sleep, geez.” DogDay replied with mock annoyance evident. But in the next second he gave a look of slight concern, “Are you all sure you guys will be fine with me away?” He asked.
CatNap gave a look of confident calm back at his best friend, “Of course, I know we might be used to doing with you but we can still function together when you’re gone.”
DogDay still looked a bit skeptical but much more relaxed, “Again, my calming companion it seems you're probably right, you guys aren’t going to fall apart just because my brilliant leadership isn’t there to guide you.” He teased.
“Alright we love you too you big doofus,” He chuckled before releasing his smoke, “now sleep.”
“Good Nighhh…” the dog lazied as he succumbed to sleep.
CatNap got up from his spot on the couch and carefully tucked in the blanket covering his friend. Once he knew the dog was comfortable he headed for the door opening it to leave he looked back.
“Good Night.” He whispered in response.
