Chapter Text
It wasn't the first time Noel had daydreamed in class, and it definitely wouldn't be the last.
Last night, Nathan, Nelson, and Newton had been making a fuss about whatever nonsense seven year olds usually fuss over. Something about one of them knocking over a vase, Noel thinks? He did hear glass breaking, followed by some crying and yelling.
Eh. Whatever. Not his problem anyway.
"Noel?"
Huh-?
"Noel!"
Noel turned his head so fast he swore he heard a crack. He immediately covered his right ear, his face scrunching up into an annoyed scowl.
"Jeez—I heard you already! No need to yell in my ear!"
"Oh, sorry! The bell rang, and I asked you if you wanted to come over to my house, maybe? Or we can go to yours! Or maybe—"
"Boys!"
Both Noel and Pockey turned toward the stern voice of their Form teacher. Mr. Forest stood there, looking annoyed.
"Will you boys lower your voices!? Just because it's after school doesn't mean you can start yelling like you're at home!"
He continued ranting, his hands gesturing wildly in the air.
"Sorry, Mr. Forest!"
Pockey quickly bowed his head.
Mr. Forest sighed before walking off, grumbling something about kids these days.
Noel picked up his black backpack and slung it over his shoulder. He turned toward the blonde, who was already standing and ready to leave.
One look at Pockey's bright, ridiculously pink-and-girly outfit was enough to make Noel's scowl deepen.
He's way too tired for this shit.
"Soooo..." Pockey rocked slightly on his heels. "My house? My uncle isn't gonna be home today!"
Mr. Lee isn't gonna be home?
Noel paused.
If he went over to Pockey's house, they'd be home alone.
...Why did the thought of being home alone with Pockey make his face feel so warm?
Noel quickly looked away, hoping Pockey hadn't noticed.
"Fine..." he muttered. "I'll go tell Norman at the gate."
