Chapter Text
As promised, here is the full deep dive into the ten Valaerionlings and their lives beyond the end of candleflame! Here’s the family tree from my Twitter post, linked in the epilogue of candleflame.

I’ll go through each of the ten Valaerionlings first (as well as their husbands/wives), and then their kids (the Valaerion-grandlings). Along the way we’ll get a general overview of Valaerion’s life since chapter 5.
If you wish to only read the oneshots as they come out and not spoil yourself for the story of the Valaerionlings, then skip this first chapter.
First up: Maegor! He’s the only Valaerionling we actually met in the main story. He was born at the very end of chapter 5, and he got that super special Valyrian steel sword Dragonsong.
Maegor is by all means the perfect son. He has white hair with three dark brown streaks on the right side, basically reverse-Valarr. He has one pale purple eye and one dark blue eye.
As hinted in chapter 5, Maegor does grow to be taller than his mother. Aerion is around 168cm, or 5’5”. Valarr is 180cm, or 5’9”. When Maegor is 16, at the time of the epilogue of candleflame, he is 171cm, which is just slightly taller than Aerion. He stops growing when he’s around 19 and ends up at 182cm, basically 6 feet tall. Since Baelor Breakspear was canonically said to be very tall, let’s say Maegor gets those genes from his grandpa.
It’s mentioned in the epilogue that Maegor is an excellent swordsman but not a great jouster. In truth, despite having such a lethal mama, Maegor thinks bloodshed is only exciting when it’s other people partaking in it. He prefers to watch the action, but he does really like training because he finds it calming.
Maegor is certainly very skilled at arms (Aerion would not have tolerated mediocrity, especially not after so much effort went into making him a super special sword) but he rarely ever shows it off. He squired for Aerion, though in truth he didn’t get to do much actual squiring because Aerion was always fucking pregnant. He also served as Baelor’s cupbearer when he was little.
Just as Sharla Dayne mentioned, Maegor’s alphascent is strong black tea and cinnamon. He is definitely the most eligible bachelor in the Seven Kingdoms, but he is also intensely disdainful of people that try to suck up to him. Unfortunately for him, a lot of people are always trying to suck up to him.
Since Maegor was born in a time of peace and stability, the bards and minstrels were rather happy to give him a flattering nickname. Someone once overheard Valarr and Aerion joking that the three dark streaks in his hair represented the three-headed dragon, so he got nicknamed Maegor Dragoncrown. He hates this nickname though, because he thinks it’s cringe.
Maegor has a charming, noble and honourable personality, but he can also be rather sharp-tongued at times. He is very well-liked, but the nobles of the court are somewhat intimidated by his presence even if they respect him. He inherited Valarr and Baelor’s political acumen and responsibility, Aerion’s quick wit and quicker tongue, and Maekar’s lethal side eye.
Basically, Maegor is the perfect prince, the perfect heir, and the perfect son. The entire family thinks it’s very unfair that Aerion of all people, the problematic nightmare child, got such a great kid. He’s definitely the apple of his parents’ eye and was coddled intensely growing up.
This means that Maegor can definitely be a little presumptuous at times, but he’s not condescending or annoying. He simply has the attitude of a Targaryen prince who knows he’s the shit. He’s also kind of a mommy’s boy. More on this later.
Born two years after Maegor are the twins, Visenya and Rhaenor. They were named after the conqueror queens Visenya and Rhaenys. As such, they’re nicknamed the conqueror twins.
As mentioned in the epilogue of candleflame, the twins are born right when the Blackfyre Rebellion begins. Valarr stays on Dragonstone long enough to be with Aerion for their birth, but he has to leave and go to Storm’s End right after. No one expects the Blackfyres to attack Dragonstone right away, because even though it’s an important position, there are better targets to strike an early victory.
Baelor tells Aerion to take his kids and come to King’s Landing as soon as he’s recovered enough from labour to travel, but literally two days before Aerion’s about to leave, Haegon Blackfyre pulls up unannounced and then gets his shit totally rocked. Aerion is at his most vicious when his children are in danger, after all.
Visenya and Rhaenor are born near-identical in looks. Both have their mother’s silver hair, purple eyes, and sharp Valyrian beauty. They also have identical personalities, cold and arrogant and haughty and aloof. In truth, neither of them are truly that rude, but they’re both quiet and prefer not to be around other people a lot. Visenya is ever-so-slightly taller than Rhaenor.
After the Blackfyre Rebellion, Valarr and Aerion take a break for a few years to rest up and raise their first three kids. They’re rather annoying parents for these years, somewhat overbearing and overly helicopter-y, just generally cringey. This is where the whole Mae-Mae, Zeny and Nory nickname thing comes from.
During this time, Baelor invites Kiera’s third younger brother Kian of Tyrosh to come and join his Kingsguard to appease Tyrosh (they’re still lowkey salty about how Valarr and Kiera’s engagement ended). When Kian arrives in King’s Landing he’s only 15, and he intentionally pisses off Valarr and Aerion a lot because he feels like his sister was slighted.
Eventually, he reaches a begrudging understanding with them when Kiera marries a wealthy nobleman back home and Valarr and Aerion send her a very lavish wedding gift. Kian of Tyrosh is a skilled fighter but is not popular among the nobility for his Oberyn-like attitude, though he eventually comes to be very loyal to the Targaryen throne.
Shiera Seastar also becomes pregnant during this time, to everyone’s surprise. She wanted maybe one kid, preferably a daughter. She has a very rude awakening when she turns out to be pregnant with triplets. Shiera is properly miserable the entire pregnancy and never does it ever again, and as soon as her three daughters are born she fucks off back to Lys with them to sulk. No one knows the girls’ father, though there are definitely some rumours…
Also, Matarys gets married! His wife is a Lannister, and it’s definitely an arranged marriage, but they get along… fine. Certainly not a love match, and they both agree to never have kids. Matarys would rather spend his days having fun and training with his sword. He and his wife are technically more friends with benefits (they’re both young and hot lmao) than a real married couple, but they eventually do grow close.
Three years after the Rebellion, Aerea is born. Valarr names her after the last true rider of Balerion the Black Dread and also kind of after Aerion. She has silver hair with a single blonde streak at the front and round blue eyes.
Out of all the Valaerionlings Aerea is the prettiest, and she’s immediately beloved by the entire family and the realm as a whole. Very much a glad child. Once for Aerea’s birthday her parents give her a pitch-black pony that she immediately names Balerion. She loves that horse to death and is an excellent rider.
By the time Daenys is born, the rest of the family is beginning to wonder if Valarr and Aerion are going to have even more kids, because now they have five. She’s named after Daenys the Dreamer, who is often left out of the list of great Targaryen heroes because she was an omega and a non-combatant, but both Aerion and Valarr respect dragon dreams a lot (technically dragon dreams are what got them together!) and without Daenys, there would be no House Targaryen.
She has chestnut-coloured curls (like Aerion’s curls) and purple eyes, and her personality is rather gentle and withdrawn.
Two years after Daenys, Aerion finds himself unexpectedly pregnant. He and Valarr had agreed not to have any more kids for a while since five is definitely more than enough, but he figured one more couldn’t hurt. With plenty of heirs and plenty of spares, Valarr and Aerion decide that they can ditch the Targaryen family name tradition and play around with their kids’ names.
As mentioned in the extended comment AN on the epilogue, Baelor is the only Targaryen that chose to name his kids after High Valyrian words. I think Aerion and Valarr would also continue that tradition.
When the baby is born, Aerion names him Kisarys, Kisa for short. See the extended comment AN for details on the names for the kids after Daenys.
Kisarys is a rather… unusual baby. He has dark hair like Valarr and dark purple eyes, and he’s very quiet. He doesn’t really ever make a sound beyond gesturing that he’s hungry or wants to sleep. In fact, he seems almost eerily observant, always watching people coming and going with a keen eye.
About a year after Kisarys is born, Maegor presents as an alpha (he’s eleven by this point). His first rut occurs during a private sword-training session with Aerion. When the news comes out that Prince Valarr’s firstborn son and heir is an alpha, the realm genuinely rejoices. As mentioned, Maegor becomes Westeros’ most eligible bachelor.
In the weeks after, Maegor is officially made Baelor’s cupbearer and begins squiring for Aerion. Since he’s still coming into his own alpha presentation, his father stays by his side to guide him along the process of omegaverse-puberty as is customary. It’s during this time that Valarr begins to get the faintest inkling that Maegor might have a slight mommy kink.
Maegor has always been a mommy’s boy, as mentioned. He’s their first baby, and Aerion had him when he was still very young and sort of unsure of himself. Aerion’s vulnerable mind sort of latched on to Maegor as something that was entirely and uniquely his, so he coddled Maegor intensely. He never allowed any wetnurses to feed him, instead choosing to breastfeed Maegor himself, and he didn’t wean him until, like, age five.
I don’t think Aerion would get as bad as Lysa Arryn and Robin (whose book name is Robert lmao) Arryn with the breastfeeding, since he has Valarr and Maekar to keep him in check. Officially Maegor was weaned at age three, though he still went for the tiddies every once in a while until he was almost six, at which point Valarr put his foot down.
All this to say, Maegor is very close to Aerion, who is absolutely oblivious to any hint or suggestion that he and his son might be slightly too close.
Aerion genuinely has no incestuous intentions, not even subconsciously. It’s just that he was only fifteen when he had his first baby, and the whole Haegon “I’m going to kill your children if you don’t come marry me” thing happened when Maegor was so young that he became intensely protective and paranoid that something will happen to his babies.
Valarr can’t say anything about Maegor’s almost-disturbing attachment to his mother because he doesn’t want to upset Aerion, plus he really is a doting and loving father and is reluctant to deprive Maegor of a source of comfort during a vulnerable time. He was also a young, impulsive alpha once (see that one July when he was seventeen) and he truly does understand.
The whole situation still lowkey stresses Valarr out. Maegor’s weird behaviour lasts for around a year, until Aerion becomes pregnant with Vezora. It’s mentioned in the epilogue that Aerion kept his pregnancy with Vezora a secret from Valarr for two months, because the realm was going through a bit of a mild famine at the time. Valarr was already kind of stressed with work stuff (ever since the Blackfyre Rebellion he took a large portion of Baelor’s duties since Baelor now suffers intense headaches at times), and on top of that, Visenya and Rhaenor also present.
The twins present fairly early, when they’re almost ten years old. Usually people present at eleven to thirteen years old. Visenya is an alpha, and Rhaenor is a beta. On top of Maegor’s mommy kink and his princely obligations, Valarr now also has to deal with helping guide Visenya through her own alpha puberty.
Aerion isn’t the type to suffer in silence, but he also lowkey dislikes the coddling that Valarr tends to do when he’s pregnant. Whenever he announces a pregnancy Maekar and Valarr start escorting him places, asking if he’s eaten, rubbing his feet, etc etc. On one hand he loves being lavished with affection, but on the other hand it gets kind of annoying after five pregnancies.
He doesn’t really intend to keep his pregnancy secret from everyone, he just keeps putting off telling people. His scent does change of course, but Vezora is a very subtle pregnancy. She’s quite small, so she doesn’t make Aerion’s belly swell hugely in the first few months, and she also doesn’t really attack his hormones enough to make him noticeably different.
In the end, Maegor’s mommy kink saves the day. The family is having breakfast together (Maegor is sitting next to Aerion and is obsessively peeling grapes for his mother) when Maegor suddenly leans in, sniffs Aerion’s neck, and puts one hand over his stomach.
Everyone is like, yo WTF are you doing, and even Aerion is pretty confused. Valarr is wondering if he’s going to need to have a serious conversation with his son. Then Maegor just announces that Aerion is pregnant.
Also, Daeron takes advantage of the twins’ presentations to name Visenya as his heir, the future Princess of Summerhall. Now he never has to get married and he can officially spend his life drinking and whoring. Being an uncle does make him slightly better, since the Valaerionlings are well-loved by the whole family, but he’s still a loser (affectionate).
During the next seven months, there are a few marriages. Do any of you remember that in chapter 1 of candleflame, I mentioned some dude called Lorren Tully?
He’s the guy that visited Summerhall once and spent the whole time praising the architecture and insinuating that Aerion should marry him and give him a million babies. You know, Mr. “handsome and tall, with flames for hair and forests for eyes”. A direct quote from Daella, by the way. Aerion thinks he looks like a fish.
Lorren Tully is Aerion’s age, which is not so much older than Daella that it would be scandalous by Westerosi standards. By this time he’s grown into himself more, so he does get pretty handsome and is no longer fishy-looking.
Daella maintains her crush on him (subtly, of course, she’s a Targaryen princess and she has class) and eventually the two of them marry. She’s lucky that she ended up crushing on a guy from a Great House. Lorren Tully still thinks Aerion is really hot, as does every person with eyes in the realm, but he also likes Daella a lot: she’s sweet and pretty and funny.
The journey to Lorren Tully and Daella getting married is kind of crazy and traumatic for him, at least. Daella likes him a lot but Aerion finds it extremely entertaining to torment the guy. Of course Daella will move to Riverrun to be with her husband, but in the period of time prior to their marriage when he has to come to the Red Keep/Summerhall to court her, Aerion makes it his personal mission to make Lorren Tully uncomfortable.
It’s just really funny to “see a fish flop around”, as Aerion would say.
Eventually Aerion accidentally goes too far once and ends up scarring Lorren Tully’s stomach. Luckily, Lorren Tully likes Daella enough (or is scared of Aerion’s wrath upon finding out you abandoned my little sister just for a measly SCAR) that he nobly declares he loves her and wants to marry her anyway despite her crazy older brother *the last part is left unsaid*.
Also, Daella’s personality can be very similar to Aerion’s when she’s riled up. She’s got the same fire in her, it’s just harder to bring that fire out beneath her insistence to be proper and ladylike.
Egg also meets and falls in love with Betha Blackwood! I always thought Egg and Betha were really cute together. Yes, he does have his hair at this point. I suspect Aerion would’ve actually murdered him if he stayed bald. Egg and Betha hold their wedding at Summerhall, and this wedding is… kind of chaotic to say the least.
The first day of the festivities is normal. Egg and Betha have their ceremony, it’s all fine and dandy, everyone finds them very sweet and cute together, Dunk cries loudly in the background when they say their vows beneath the Seven…
Day two is the beginning of a feast and tourney. Egg is of course participating with the intention of crowning his new wife the queen of love and beauty. At this point Rhae has already presented alpha (to the surprise of absolutely no one, she has the personality of Aerion if he were an alpha, just minus the thirst for blood). Midway through the afternoon, Aerion starts feeling uncomfortable and goes back to rest.
Turns out he’s in active labour. Perhaps the sight of blood excited him too much.
Aerion lies there going through a very long and frustrating labour for over twelve hours. By noon the next day, the baby has stalled and refuses to make any more progress. Everyone is super stressed, and the guards have been on a whirlwind rotation because Aerion keeps cussing all the people in the room out so badly that several grown men have left in tears.
It just so happens that Dunk is the one on guard at around one in the afternoon. The jousting has resumed, so Egg and Rhae are away. Only Dunk, Valarr and the very professional midwife (she’s been called nasty curses by Aerion so much through his pregnancies that she’s practically immune to it) with her newly-traumatized team of trainees are in the room.
That is, until Rhae suddenly bursts through the doors screaming that Maekar had a heart attack and collapsed. The news is so shocking and stressful that Aerion almost has a heart attack himself, which makes the labour intensify to the point that the baby just… comes out right then and there.
The room is still in so much panic over Maekar potentially being DEAD that everyone is in chaos. Valarr and Aerion are shouting, Rhae is shouting too, the midwives are struggling to get everything in order, and it’s just a complete mess. There’s so much pandemonium that the first person to hold the baby after she’s born turns out to be poor Dunk of all people.
Dunk was just sort of standing there in the corner stressing and trying to blend into the walls. The youngest midwife just sort of shoved the baby into his arms at one point like a hot potato, and he is very confused.
Eventually everyone calms down enough to figure out that Maekar is not dead, nor is he having a heart attack. He just slipped on a stray patch of mud and fell over, and Rhae was at the perfect angle to only get a blurry view and then immediately jumped to conclusions.
The whole Dunk thing makes Aerion so angry that he nearly has the poor midwife who gave him the baby whipped, if not for Egg’s timely intervention. Then he turns the force of his anger onto Dunk, but Dunk basically saves himself by asking earnestly if the little princess is okay and if his gauntlets had pinched her or if his rough grip scared her. He seems so genuinely distressed at the idea of hurting the baby that Aerion just sort of blanks out (he just gave birth and thought his dad died, his brain is kind of rebooting) and turns his anger onto someone else.
That someone else turns out to be Rhae. Aerion is ROYALLY pissed at her. He orders every single one of her fancy pelts burnt, all her jewelry gifted to brothels, and sends her entire collection of beautiful purebred horses across the Narrow Sea to the Dothraki. For free. He would’ve beaten her up if Valarr hadn’t stopped him.
Maekar would’ve stopped Aerion from imposing such a heavy punishment if he weren’t also incredibly pissed at Rhae, because due to her unholy shrieking, now every single person in the Seven Kingdoms knows that Prince Maekar Targaryen, the famously imposing Anvil, slipped on a patch of mud and fell on his arse.
Anyways, Vezora is born. She has sandy blonde hair and blue eyes, and her skin is slightly tanner than Aerion’s. She’s named because she was born at Summerhall at the beginning of summer. For all of this, she also gets the nickname “Daughter of Summer”.
The summer that Vezora is born into only lasts a year and is followed by three years of a particularly harsh winter. Aerion and Valarr decide not to have any kids for a while to let Aerion’s body recover. He’s only 26, but he’s had SEVEN babies in the eleven years since he got married. Aerion has a magical omegaverse body that means pregnancy is way less harsh on him than it would be in reality, but still. He does need a break.
Between Vezora’s birth and the tourney of the coals, Egg and Betha have two kids, and Rhae gets married and has a kid too! Rhae’s wife is a Hightower omega, very pretty but every bit as spoiled and loud as Rhae is. They’re a perfect match together. They have one daughter, who Rhae dotes upon HEAVILY.
After winter, there is a year of spring (no, Valarr does not die to COVID) and Baelor officially decides to step down as king. The winter and the past few years have really been rough on him, and he wants to retire and spend the rest of his life being a happy grandpa. Thus, Valarr becomes king, and we have the events of the epilogue to candleflame, the tourney of the coals!
One month after the tourney of the coals, Shiera Seastar comes to Westeros to visit with her three daughters, who are fourteen, for the first time since giving birth to them. The Seastar triplets are named Naelora, Naelys and Naelle, and all three girls are omegas. They resemble their mother very much.
Naelora has green eyes and is the best at blood magic, and her personality is kind of like Matarys’. She’s not very ambitious and doesn’t really care about much besides getting filthy rich off her magic and living a luxurious life of relaxation.
Naelys has blue eyes, and is quiet and withdrawn but very cunning. She has a more innocent appearance than Shiera, Naelora or Naelle, and she uses it to her advantage. Unlike Naelora, she is ambitious, though not for power: she’d rather have influence. She’s not great at blood magic, but she’s fine with just asking Naelora or Shiera to do whatever magic she needs.
Naelle has one red eye and one green eye. She’s confident and seductive and brazen on the outside but is actually kind of a hopeless romantic on the inside, though she’d deny this to her death. She’s also more interested in fashion and books than blood magic.
Upon arriving in Westeros, the Seastar triplets sort of take the court by storm. Shiera Seastar already caused wars for her hand, and now there’s three more of her? The girls enjoy flirting with besotted suitors but never entertain them with anything more than a wink.
Ahem. About Naelle’s one red eye. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
Who is the girls’ father? Most people agree it’s probably Bloodraven, but no one ever dares to ask him about it. Bloodraven is secretly absolutely terrified of the girls because he had no idea that Shiera was pregnant. He’s also dying to know if he’s actually their father, but he can’t do any blood magic to find out because Shiera might literally kill him.
The girls love freaking him out by following him around the Keep and asking him innocent questions. Shiera (and the rest of the Targaryens) find it absolutely hilarious that the fearsome Lord Bloodraven is so terrified of three young omega girls.
The girls have never been to Westeros before this, so they’re meeting their Targaryen cousins for the first time. Maegor basically falls in love with Naelle at first glance, but because he inherited Valarr’s penchant to be dutiful and honourable and pretend you don’t want someone, he decides to stay away from her.
Valarr and Aerion would never make their kids marry someone they didn’t like. Mama bear Aerion would burn the world down before he forced any of his precious darlings into an unhappy arranged marriage. However, Maegor is dutiful to a fault à la Valarr, and he’s decided he’ll do what’s needed of him even if his parents don’t ask him to.
He loves his siblings, so he would never force Aerea or Daenys into marrying him, plus he doesn’t feel a romantic attraction to any of them. He’s basically already resigned himself to an arranged match, accepting that he’ll marry a lady he doesn’t love and hopes that he comes to enjoy her company one day.
Naelle also immediately develops a crush on this dashing dragon prince. Maegor is the heartthrob of the entire realm, not to mention tall, handsome, gentle, honourable, kind, etc etc.
Naelle is Valarr/Aerion’s half-first cousin once removed, which makes her Maegor’s… half-first cousin twice removed. At that point you’re basically not even really related anymore so it doesn’t even count as Targcest. She’s confident and brazen to literally everyone except Maegor, who is the only person she ever gets shy around.
Naelle’s personality is very similar to Aerion’s (just minus the I am the blood of the dragon, a prince of House Targaryen, bow down to me all ye pathetic mortals part) so she’s unsure of whether to make her interest known.
On one hand, she’s somewhat related to Maegor (albeit very distantly), she’s beautiful, she’s confident, she’s ambitious, she wants to be the future queen, she knows she could probably manage to seduce him, etc.
On the other hand, she can’t provide Maegor with any true alliances, plus she knows Shiera’s reputation as a blood sorceress isn’t ideal for a future queen.
For the three-week duration of the Seastar girls’ visit to Westeros, Naelle and Maegor sort of dance around each other. Naelle oscillates between shamelessly flirting with him and avoiding him with a blush, and Maegor tries so hard to be politely distant that he just winds up making himself look either rude or idiotic.
Everyone can tell they like each other. Aerion and Shiera think they’re soooooo cute. Valarr and Aerion also see the resemblance to how they were like when they were young, and find it very amusing. Eventually it comes time for the Seastars to go back to Lys, so they hold a big feast to send them off.
During the feast, a Lannister omega (the daughter of Tybolt Lannister, who is the brother of Matarys’ wife, which makes her Matarys’ niece) starts flirting with Maegor as well. Maegor is politely distant to her, but Naelle cuts in and humiliates her in front of everyone, making her jealousy obvious to their whole family.
Valarr and Aerion aren’t mad at Naelle, but Valarr does ask Maegor to apologize to the Lannister omega on her behalf, just to keep the peace (even if Aerion thinks she can go fuck herself).
Naelle overhears Maegor apologizing to her, freaks out, and runs away. Maegor runs after her and they have a very deep heartfelt conversation during which they both confess their feelings. Bloodraven sees this because he sees everything and tells Valarr, Aerion and Shiera.
By the time Maegor returns to the king’s solar to report that he got the job done (with Naelle in tow to apologize to the king and queen for her outburst), they’re met with Valarr, Aerion, Shiera and Bloodraven sitting there with shit-eating grins.
Long story short, Maegor and Naelle wind up engaged by morning, and Naelle stays in Westeros to prepare for her duties as the future Princess of Dragonstone. Aerion takes her under his wing in the same way that Shiera served as a sort of mentor (in blood magic, at least) to him. The two of them get along immensely well and cause a shitload of trouble, but Valarr and Maegor are used to dealing with them (and they secretly love cleaning up after their unruly omegas).
Naelle is not the most popular Princess of Dragonstone, the same way that Aerion was not so popular in the beginning of his and Valarr’s marriage.
Unlike Aerion, Naelle is not a fighter, so she doesn’t inspire fear and respect quite the same way he does. Maegor always defends her fiercely, just like his father defends his mother, but Naelle knows she has to find her own authority instead of relying on her alpha.
She takes tea with the highborn ladies, finds her way into the deepest circles of the court just by her charm and beauty, and eventually establishes herself as the top of the female/omega feeding chain in King’s Landing. Naelle is a master of soft power: you can consider her to be similar to Margaery Tyrell.
Nine months after the tourney of the coals, baby Sovaerys is born. The baby is a spitting image of Aerion: silver hair, pale purple eyes, mini-sized, very pretty. Grandpa Maekar dotes on him fiercely, and he quickly becomes everyone’s favourite. He’s basically Aerion if he had stayed a glad child: bright and mischievous, but still very cute.
Back to Kisarys and his issues. Kisarys is quiet and observant from a young age, almost eerily perceptive of other people. He has what we would consider to be a mild case of psychopathy in a strict psychiatric context. He’s not a crazy villain like the Joker, but he is unable to feel much empathy or remorse, he is immune to most stress responses, he is incredibly arrogant, and he is also superficially charming enough to mask all these symptoms.
Valarr and Aerion, as his parents, constantly worry over him. They’re not worried he’s going to get hurt or that he’ll hurt others, but they do worry that he won’t be able to find someone who truly understands him. They know that Kisarys doesn’t have anyone besides his parents he can truly be himself around since he’s so used to keeping up this polite social mask.
Then along comes Sovaerys, and Kisarys develops a borderline dangerous obsession with him.
At the time of Sovaerys’ birth, Kisarys is still unpresented, but he follows his little brother around every day with unrelenting intensity. Of course the whole family is protective of Sovaerys, but Kisarys takes it up several notches.
Most of the time, you can sort of tell what dynamic a person will eventually present into, or at least make a very educated guess. Everyone expected Kisarys to present beta, since he’s so quiet, but after Sovaerys is born he begins to exhibit a lot more alpha traits.
Daenys presents as an omega when Sovaerys is about three. A group of lingering Blackfyre loyalists kidnaps the freshly-presented Daenys and attempts to bring her across the Narrow Sea, either to marry someone they claim is a Blackfyre or whatever else.
Visenya and Rhaenor are the ones who wind up finding her four days later and bringing her back, and they do so by slaying thirteen Blackfyre loyalists on their own. They are fifteen years old, by the way, so this is a very impressive feat. Due to their ferocity in battle, people nickname Visenya “Vhagar Reborn” and Rhaenor “Meraxes Boltsbane” (a reference to how Meraxes the dragon was killed by a scorpion bolt).
Daenys is unharmed, don’t worry! A few bruises and very scared, but Visenya and Rhaenor got there in time to prevent anything tragic from occurring.
When Visenya and Rhaenor bring a shaken but unharmed Daenys back to King’s Landing, they present their parents with the two captured leaders of the makeshift band of Blackfyre rebels. Valarr and Aerion prepare to execute them, but Maegor advocates to spare their lives in the hopes that they can eventually lead the Targs to finding Daemon III and the rest of the Blackfyres who had survived Haegon’s Rebellion.
All his life people have been wary of Maegor, since he’s the son of the famous Brightflame and is named after Maegor the Cruel. Everyone secretly worries he’ll turn out to be some terrible, cruel tyrant even if his personality seems quite the opposite. This gesture of mercy is seen as incredibly uncharacteristic for the Targaryen family, especially for someone named Maegor, so the bards dub Maegor “Balerion the Benevolent Dread”.
Turns out Maegor’s benevolent gesture to spare the lives of his sister’s kidnappers wasn’t so benevolent after all, because he secretly tortures them to death until they reveal where the Blackfyre supporters are hiding.
However, no one ever finds out about this, so his good reputation is preserved. Valarr and Aerion send assassins after the rest of the Blackfyres using the information Maegor got, and are successful in killing them, crushing any future Blackfyre rebellions.
After the trauma of being kidnapped, Daenys wants to remain unmarried or marry one of her siblings so she can stay in the Red Keep with her parents forever. She’s always been shy, and she’s not fond of the idea of being a great lord’s wife and running a big castle or house.
Aerion is in full support of this plan because Daenys being kidnapped has made him even more overprotective, but eventually even he begins to get worried that Daenys is isolating herself too much. He and Valarr agree she needs similarly-aged girls at court to be her friend.
Remember Sharla Dayne and her wish at the end of the epilogue of candleflame? Well, now she gets her opportunity!
Aerion wants someone trustworthy to be with his daughter, so he invites Sharla to court to stay with them. Sharla becomes very good friends with Daenys, almost like another older sister, and eventually she gets her wish of becoming Aerion’s lady-in-waiting.
Aerion usually doesn’t entertain having ladies-in-waiting like other queens because he thinks the idea of having insipid gossipy ladies around him is supremely annoying, but Sharla is his own blood, and he’s rather fond of her. Plus, she follows him around the Red Keep with obvious star-eyed worship.
At this point, Maegor and Naelle finally have their wedding. Also, Lyonel! Our favourite Laughing Storm. Aerion doesn’t like Lyonel at all, but Lyonel is close to Dunk and therefore close to Egg and therefore close to the royal family, so he frequently visits King’s Landing and brings his kids. He also comes for Maegor and Naelle’s wedding.
At this wedding, Daenys becomes friends with Lyonel’s beta daughter Ursula.
This is the unnamed girl that Egg’s son Duncan the Small was supposed to marry in canon and inspired Lyonel’s short-lived rebellion.
Through Ursula, she meets Rian Baratheon, Lyonel’s eldest son and heir.
Ursula inherits Lyonel’s loud personality so she helps Daenys come out of her shell, but Rian (who is also similar to Lyonel) scares Daenys at first. Slowly, Rian becomes very dear to her: although he’s boisterous and can come off as rude or brash, he’s careful to always lower his voice around Daenys and is one of the few people she feels confident around.
Aerion is horrified that his precious daughter eventually falls in love with a Baratheon, nevermind the son of Lyonel, but begrudgingly approves of the betrothal once he sees that Daenys genuinely likes him.
Egg and Lyonel find this whole thing hilarious. Dunk finds it very sweet.
After Maegor and Naelle’s wedding, Aerion gets pregnant… again. When Aerion is about 6 months along, Baelor Breakspear suffers a severe sickness in the lungs. He doesn’t die but it’s pretty touch-and-go for a while, which stresses the entire family out a lot.
To celebrate his return to health Valarr and Aerion name their newborn son after him. Ironically, baby Baelor is born sickly as well, perhaps due to Aerion being pretty stressed during his pregnancy, so he gets the nickname “Brittlebones” since he’s always pretty frail.
Little Baelor has dark blonde hair, blue eyes, and very pale skin. He was born premature, so for the first few days of his life the maesters thought he wouldn’t live past three months. Because of this, he also gets the nickname the “three-month prince”.
Aerion and Valarr absolutely refuse to give up on him, and miraculously, Baelor pulls through. He’s never really healthy, and he walks with a slight limp and can’t fight or do strenuous exercise without becoming tired easily, but he’s alive and that’s all that matters.
At this point, Kisarys finally presents alpha. Through the last few years, he’s been crazy obsessive over Sovaerys, who everyone eventually figures out is probably going to present omega, from the budding hints of his scent and things like that.
Sovaerys is a carbon copy of Aerion in looks, only not as… crazy. He’s a rare male omega with pure Valyrian beauty, sweet and beloved, belonging to the ruling Targaryen house.
This makes Sovaerys the most desirable wife for basically every lord in the realm, and Valarr and Aerion are constantly fending off his suitors. (He’s also Grandpa Maekar’s favorite because he looks the most like little Aerion).
Sovaerys, or Sovy for short, also goes around calling himself a dragon like Aerion does (he’s a lot cuter about it though). He has a great affinity for sailing and likes spending time on Dragonstone, along the coast. People nickname him “Sovaerys Seasmoke” as a nod to his dragon heritage, his love for the ocean, and his pale colouring.
The Meraxes comparison is already taken by Rhaenor. Sovaerys “Silverwing” was the original plan, since Silverwing is gentle-natured and beautiful, but I think the title of “Silver Prince” goes to Rhaenor as well. Sorry Sovy, your older brother stole all your nicknames.
Now, Kisarys is not charming the way that, say, Lyonel or Shiera are charming. He is by far the most handsome of all Valarr and Aerion’s sons/alpha children, and he is quiet and a good listener.
Consider this dark-haired, dark-eyed, tall, handsome alpha prince with a soothing scent who listens to all your worries with an understanding look and is able to correctly identify all of your insecurities and reassure you, always knowing the perfect thing to say. He’s a booktok girlie’s dream. If he were in a modern world he’d have square-rimmed glasses and a black turtleneck.
Kisarys is a bit of a political genius. Together with Aerea, the two of them constantly conspire to use their looks to get what they want.
Maegor is the realm’s alpha heartthrob, but Kisarys has the most girls/omegas crushing on him. He absolutely knows how to use his looks to his advantage. He’s not a flirter, but he always knows what people are thinking and always knows what to say to make them like/respect him.
Of course all of Sovaerys’ siblings are protective over him, not to mention the rest of his family, but Kisarys basically assigns himself as Sovaerys’ de facto bodyguard. He follows his little brother everywhere, glares sleazy alphas into submission, and shuts down jealous omegas who insult him.
Kisarys never outright offends anyone, and his charm and incredible knowledge of how to manipulate people means that no one really suspects him of being inappropriately attached to Sovaerys because he knows how to spin a story.
Around the time that Naelle gives birth to her and Maegor’s first kid, a daughter named Aeryn (who is absolutely named after Aerion), Aerion also gets pregnant again. This is very soon after Baelor is born. There are only about two months between Baelor and Aeryn’s birth, and only another month later Aerion finds out he’s pregnant.
At this point, Aerion’s body is like please, chill, for the love of all things holy. He suffers through a very difficult pregnancy, made worse by the fact that he’s stressed about a lot of things. Baelor’s still always sick, Maegor’s busy with his newborn daughter, and to make matters worse, the Greyjoys start a minor rebellion halfway through his pregnancy.
Valarr is forced to go to Casterly Rock to help the Lannisters quash the rebellion. Aerion goes into labour quite early from stress, a labour that is so intense and traumatic that it nearly kills him. If it weren’t for Daeron Maekarson having a dream a few days before the labour and sending an emergency raven, they never would’ve had time to make the necessary preparations.
Since Valarr is still on his way back, Daeron is the one who sits with Aerion through the labour, so the baby is named after Daeron to thank him.
Valarr eventually barges through the door a few hours after baby Daeron is born, crazy-eyed. He sends Maekar to Casterly Rock to finish the last of the fighting. Upon finding out that Aerion came THIS close to dying in childbirth, he flips out and vows they’ll never have kids again.
Aerion is very pissed at this. He doesn’t exactly want to have more kids, but he does not take too kindly to the idea of Valarr coming in five hours late yelling alpha commands at him and telling him what to do with his own body.
Valarr and Aerion have a HUGE fight over this, and Aerion even slaps him. The resulting cold war is so intense that all of King’s Landing is basically on nuclear alert. Eventually, Maester Aemon straight-up tells Aerion that if he has another baby he’ll 100% die.
Valarr, hearing this, just starts crying. He and Aerion make up and kiss and cry some more.
Sharla Dayne has had a crush on Visenya since the tourney of the coals, and since she’s serving as Aerion’s lady-in-waiting, she naturally spends a lot of time in close proximity to Visenya. Everyone can tell she has a crush, and they all think it’s very sweet.
Visenya is unfortunately very dense. She’s not insecure in any way, but she thinks that most omegas would be interested in Maegor instead of her, so she never notices that Sharla likes her. Even Rhaenor sees it before Visenya does, so he tells her about Sharla’s crush.
Visenya is honestly shocked and feels a little awkward: she likes Sharla as a person and acknowledges that she’s very beautiful, but Visenya has never considered romance or marriage. She’s more focused on preparing to inherit Summerhall.
After finding out about Sharla’s feelings, Visenya is coolly distant to her, which hurts Sharla deeply. Aerion reassures her that Visenya is just awkward, but Sharla is young and thinks she’s been rejected. Visenya sees that Sharla is humiliated and feels guilty about it, so she makes a stilted attempt to be less cold and haughty around her, and the two of them slowly become hesitant friends.
At the tourney held for Daeron’s birth, Visenya asks for Sharla’s favour and unhorses Maegor, and then formally asks Danyel and Lord Dayne for permission to court Sharla. At the beginning of their courtship, Sharla is ecstatic but Visenya just thinks of her as a close friend who’s a better choice for marriage than any other omega because at least they’ll get along.
Slowly, over the course of a year or two, Visenya falls in love with Sharla as well. They’re a very sweet couple. They are officially betrothed at the same time as the birth of Maegor and Naelle’s second child, Viserys.
Rhaenor is content to stay unmarried his whole life because he wants to join the Kingsguard. He is what we would consider asexual, though he isn’t aromantic. He dedicates himself fully to training, and he’s perfectly happy spending all his time around his parents and getting the majority of their attention.
Valarr and Aerion are not fooled by Kisarys and Sovaerys growing closer and closer and closer. Luckily, they don’t mind Targcest, and they actually like the idea of their kids marrying each other. That way, their precious omega son can stay in the family and they can continue the Targaryen tradition.
Despite being young, Sovaerys knows Kisarys is into him, even with how well Kisarys hides his feelings, because scents don’t lie. Kisarys can lie to everyone and spin a perfect story but his possessive alphascent will always give him away.
Kisarys has been doing this stalking-bodyguard act since Sovaerys was a kid (even before he presented) so it’s all Sovaerys knows and he’s very used to it. The idea that he and Kisarys should get married is perfectly natural to him, and he thinks their game of “oh he’s just my protective alpha brother” is a way of flirting or foreplay.
After years of practically breathing down Sovaerys’ neck with his alpha pheromones, Sovaerys presents omega quite early. He’s still way too young to get married though, so he and Kisarys keep doing their weird thing.
Around this time, Naelle gives birth to her and Maegor’s final child, Aenys. Sharla and Visenya also get married, and Aerea is engaged to Loren Tyrell, the heir to Highgarden (who is absolutely SMITTEN, like complete down bad simp, for his Targaryen baddie fiancee).
Valarr and Aerion take their kids on a trip to Dorne (leaving Maegor and Naelle with the grandparents back in King’s Landing to manage the city) to meet Daenerys of Dorne’s kids. At this point Moran Martell is dead, so Daenerys’ oldest son, Daemion, is Prince of Dorne.
Daemion is a male beta. His sister Sareah is a female omega, and his youngest sibling Daena is a female alpha. Daemion dislikes his Targaryen heritage and name (he thinks he’s named after Daemon Blackfyre) while Sareah obsesses endlessly over her own beauty.
In contrast, Daena is only 5 years older than Vezora, and has dark brown hair tied in a tight ponytail and dark purple eyes. More free-spirited than her siblings, Daena prefers to spend her time hunting, lounging and relaxing rather than take up any true duties.
She and Vezora hit it off immediately. They’re married within the year, and Vezora decides to stay in Dorne, where the warmer climate agrees with her.
Aerion is very unwilling to let her live away from home, but in the end he reluctantly accepts that his kids are growing up now.
When Rhaenor is nineteen, Valarr officially names him to the Kingsguard. Visenya and Sharla also have their first daughter, who is named Vaella. Kian of Tyrosh has a lot of fun trying to get this stiff, distant Targaryen prince to show any form of emotion, ever.
Aerea, as the most beautiful of all Valarr and Aerion’s daughters, eventually marries Loren Tyrell and becomes Lady of Highgarden. Aerea is proud of her Targaryen heritage and especially proud that she’s named after Balerion the Black Dread’s rider, which is why she names her enormous black stallion Balerion.
She keeps Loren Tyrell in the palm of her hand with her beauty Olenna-style, and lives a relatively free and happy life in Highgarden, spending her days riding “Balerion” and enjoying the Tyrell luxuries while her besotted husband does all the work for her and spoils her to no end.
At this point, Maegor becomes Master of Laws on the small council. He’s gotten old enough that his duties as heir are really picking up.
Naelys (the older sister of Naelle) moves to King’s Landing to be with Naelle and basically becomes Bloodraven’s apprentice, seducing the greatest lords and ladies of the realm and manipulating them however she wants. Bloodraven eventually steps away from active politicking to help prepare Naelys to take over his position and become the next Mistress of Whisperers, though he still lurks in the shadows.
Lord Commander Willem Wylde of the Kingsguard dies of lung sickness. There is a debate over who should become the next Lord Commander. By seniority, it should go to either Ser Donnel of Duskendale or Ser Blayne Roxton. Before a decision can be made, Ser Blayne Roxton dies in a jousting accident.
Now Valarr is more worried at the idea that he has only five out of seven Kingsguard left. He and Aerion have so many kids that it would be perfect to name one or two of them to the Kingsguard, but Maegor and Visenya are married, Rhaenor is already on the Kingsguard, Aerea and Daenys aren’t warriors, and the others are too young.
At this point, Danyel Dayne (who’s still unmarried because he doesn’t really want to marry or have kids) steps up. He asks to join the Kingsguard on the condition that one of Visenya and Sharla’s children inherit Starfall.
This is obviously a rather precarious decision that isn’t exactly advantageous for House Dayne, but Danyel is totally uninterested in marriage and kids. He’d also like to be closer to his sister Sharla, who misses him a lot, and his niece Vaella.
Valarr is very, very glad to welcome Danyel to the Kingsguard. Sharla and Danyel’s dad is pretty mad at first, but he also really likes the idea of the future ruler of Starfall having some Targaryen blood, so he comes around to it.
To fill the other empty space, Aerion names Ser Trentan Darklyn to the Kingsguard because of House Darklyn’s long history of becoming Kingsguard and also because they have some very slight Targaryen blood from an unknown marriage generations past (for details, see the Dance of the Dragons and Ser Steffon Darklyn). Ser Donnel becomes Lord Commander.
The Kingsguard at this point in order of seniority, because I know it’s confusing:
Lord Commander Donnel of Duskendale, Ser Roland Crakehall, Ser Kian of Tyrosh, Ser Duncan the Tall, Ser Rhaenor Targaryen, Ser Danyel Dayne, Ser Trentan Darklyn.
Daenys marries Rian Baratheon and has one son, Rogar Baratheon. Daenys, unlike her mother, is not a natural at pregnancy or motherhood. She’s not a bad mother, but most of the work of raising Rogar falls to Rian. The arrangement works well for their family, and neither Rian nor little Rogar resent her for it.
When Kisarys Ultragroomer Targaryen turns nineteen and still remains unmarried, Valarr and Aerion eventually have to force their hand and make their kids stop their flirting game of chicken and actually get together. They begin “looking for potential matches” for Sovaerys, which freaks Sovaerys out enough that he runs crying to Kisarys and begs him to mate him.
Valarr and Aerion agree to the engagement, but they make Kisarys swear to wait until Sovaerys is at least fifteen to, uh, do the deed. This is basically torture to Kisarys because he’s a horrible perverted freak who wants to marry his underage little brother, but he gets through it because Valarr has a very serious conversation with him about how dangerous it is to mate with an omega that young and how easily they could get hurt.
Literally three days after Sovaerys’ fifteenth nameday, he and Kisarys get married. They’re disgustingly in love. Their dynamic is basically mini Valaerion but even worse.
Just like Aerion, Sovaerys has his first kid when he’s fifteen going on sixteen, a daughter named Alysanne. Visenya and Sharla have their second child, another girl that they name Dyanna after her grandmother (on both sides)!
A marriage for Vaella becomes kind of important now, because Danyel swore oaths to never marry and have kids. Visenya and Sharla only have two daughters, neither of whom seem inclined to present alpha.
That means House Dayne has no direct male or alpha heir. Worse, since Visenya is Daeron’s heir, her kids will also have to inherit Summerhall after her. So now they have two daughters and two important castles that they need heirs for.
Sharla and Danyel’s father agrees to name one of his nephews his heir. Luckily his nephew is an honourable young man who looks up to Danyel a lot, so House Dayne is in good hands.
In the end, Visenya decides fuck the patriarchy and names Vaella her heir, regardless of whether she presents alpha, beta or omega. It’s not a decision that would go over well if Summerhall weren’t a relatively unimportant castle.
Aerea gives birth to her and Loren Tyrell’s children, a pair of twins they name Leon and Elira.
Remember Baelor Brittlebones and little Daeron? Well, they’re still fairly young at this point, only children. They’re younger than some of their own nephews/nieces.
Daeron is a healthy child who is by all accounts fairly good at everything. He’s the youngest Valaerionling, so the whole family is nice to him. He grows up very close to Grandpa Baelor and Grandpa Maekar, and he has silver-blonde hair, purple eyes, and looks a bit like Matarys.
Daeron is best friends with his older brother Baelor. Unfortunately, Baelor is not having as good of a time as the rest of his siblings. His fragile health means that he’s frequently the topic of whispered mockery. People are never overt about it, since Aerion would literally kill anyone that spoke badly about his baby, but Baelor can sense the looks, and worse, the pity.
Because of his limp, he also gets the nickname “the deer-legged dragon”. Baelor grows up with a constant need to prove himself, though he’s very quiet and withdrawn. He almost never really smiles and tries very hard to blend into the background. His inner self is constantly warring between intense pride that he’s a Targaryen and intense self-loathing.
As such, Baelor is kinda-slightly-very messed up. He receives a lot of love from his family, but he also is in need of validation from himself. He and Daeron are the closest of friends, which helps, but Baelor never really manages to shake the idea that the rest of the family pities him.
Vezora and Daena Martell have their first kid, a boy they name Maekar after Grandpa Maekar. Sovaerys also gives birth to his and Kisarys’ second child, a boy named Aegon.
As the years go by, Valarr’s reign remains mostly peaceful. There are some small skirmishes and droughts and famines, but there’s no true war. He’s a very beloved king, as well-liked as Baelor Breakspear, and even Queen Aerion becomes more and more popular.
The first several decades after their weddings are very blissful for Valarr and Aerion. They have an enormous, happy, thriving family. Their rule is going smoothly. Their marriage is as loving as it always has been.
And then Daeron Maekarson dies.
The pox takes him quickly and unexpectedly. He dies within two weeks of first falling sick.
Despite how often he spoke badly of Daeron, Aerion is absolutely crushed by his death, and so is Maekar. The grief makes Maekar retire as Hand of the King and retreat to Summerhall.
To replace Maekar, Valarr continues the tradition of naming his son as Hand of the King and promotes Maegor. Maegor’s position as Master of Laws is taken over by Visenya.
By this time, Maegor and Naelle’s children are older. Aeryn has presented omega and Viserys presents beta. The two of them are betrothed to each other in the Targaryen tradition. Sovaerys has also had his and Kisarys’ last child, Daemion.
Yes, he has the same name as Daena Martell’s older brother. Kisarys and Sovaerys name him after the grandfather of Aegon the Conqueror, Daemion Targaryen. Daemion Targaryen is the father of Aegon’s father, Aerion. In a way they’re trying to pay respects to their mother’s namesake. Daena Martell’s older brother is named Daemion because it’s the closest name to Daemon that isn’t Daemon.
From youth it’s clear that Daemion is likely to present omega, just like his mother Sovaerys. Alysanne and Aegon (both shaping up to be alphas) start a weird dick-measuring contest where they weirdly and subtly fight over who eventually gets to marry Daemion.
Aenys (third son of Maegor) has a weird situationship with Dyanna (daughter of Sharla and Visenya). Vaella develops a very brief and unrequited crush on her uncle Rhaenor that disappears in like three months.
Leon and Elira, the twin children of Aerea, would much rather be Targaryens than Tyrells, and they suggest to their parents that they marry each other in some weird miniature Jaime and Cersei thing. Loren loves his wife and also loves that she’s a Targaryen, but he’s still horrified at the idea of his children marrying each other.
Aerea knows that Targcest is not popular across the realm and that her children may carry Targaryen blood but they’re still Tyrells, so she puts a firm stop to Leon and Elira’s romance. The siblings are sullen, but eventually accept it since they never really loved each other like that and they only did it out of an obsession with Targaryen supremacy.
As the years pass, Daeron Valaerionling (who presents as a beta) eventually marries Rhysa Arryn, also a beta. She’s the youngest child of Phillip Arryn, who is the younger brother of Alys Arryn, wife of Rhaegel Targaryen and mother of Aelor and Aelora. In that sense, Rhysa is like… technically Daeron’s somewhat aunt? They’re not related by blood, and she’s only about a year older than him.
Aeryn and Viserys also formally marry. By this time, little Maekar Martell (son of Vezora and Daena) is old enough to visit King’s Landing, and he’s recently presented as an omega.
Little Maekar looks a bit like Maekar the Anvil. He has Targaryen silver hair, but he’s shorter and stouter than most omegas. He’s quite pretty, but he’s also slightly insecure.
His personality is NOTHING like Maekar the Anvil. Maekar Martell is quiet, sweet, withdrawn, shy, and a little awkward. He likes his uncles and aunts and his grandparents and even his great-grandparents, but he doesn’t know them very well since he prefers to stay behind in Sunspear or hide away when they visit.
Upon coming to visit King’s Landing, Maekar gets overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people and goes to get some air in a private courtyard. There he meets Baelor Brittlebones, who also prefers to keep to himself.
The two of them get along very well, and Maekar slowly opens up to his uncle. They bond over their shared dislike of talking to other people. Baelor always hides his resentment towards the world well: on the outside, he’s every bit as gentle and noble as Baelor Breakspear. However, Maekar Martell is quite perceptive, and is able to get through Baelor’s mask.
By the end of their visit, they’ve both agreed to write to each other. Baelor is tall and handsome, despite his sickness. As he’s grown into adulthood and presented as an alpha he’s gotten a lot stronger, to the point where he’s able to do some basic training with a sword and gain a bit of muscle, but his slight limp and faint cough/raspiness will never really go away.
Over the next years Baelor (who as mentioned previously, is kind of fucked up) slowly grooms Maekar into relying utterly on him for all emotional dependence. When Maekar Martell is like fifteen or sixteen, he and Baelor get married.
Vezora is THIS close to murdering her brother. WDYM YOU SEDUCED MY SON, YOUR OWN NEPHEW. Valaerian are lowkey conflicted: they want their son Baelor to be happy, and they know he would never mistreat little Maekar, and they don’t care about Targcest, but… it’s kind of weird to them nonetheless.
Older Baelor and Maekar (who are like very very old at this point) are somewhat amused, but they’re also long past the point of caring too much about these matters. As long as their kids, grandkids and now great-grandkids are happy, they’re fine with everything.
I’ll end the candleflame universe here, because I don’t want to go so far that Baelor and Maekar (Hammer and Anvil version) die of old age because that’s too much angst. We can just imagine Valaerion and their Valaerionlings and their great-Valaerionlings live happily ever after.
If the timeline makes no sense, please just ignore my idiocy. There’s ten kids and a billion grandkids and a billion ways to fuck it all up. Also, I don’t know shit about babies or pregnancy. Again, let’s just assume Aerion has a magical omegaverse Targaryen dragon blood magic body.
After this explanatory chapter, the rest of this work will be a series of oneshots exploring various moments throughout the family’s lives. Most of these moments will have been mentioned/outlined in this chapter already.
