Work Text:

As Sixer stepped onto the beach, the sand beneath her shifting, she could spot someone up ahead staring at the sunset with their feet in the water.

Sixer pauses. She certainly wasn't expecting Noob to be here at all. Much less so.. at ease, with how horribly she had treated them over the last few weeks.

Without even turning around, Noob speaks to Sixer.

"I know. I know you aren't the same Sixer I knew. I already had a suspicion of that. But now.. I know it for certain."

Sixer steps closer, noticing that Noob's hands are shaking.

Noob lets out a shaky breath, turning their head slightly.

"Every single day.. I'm expected to do good. To listen. To make sure I stay in line. My parents always taught me that, and they still do. Every day has just.. become a meaningless routine for me. Nothing ever changed.. I was forced to become the person they wanted me to be."

"Right up until I met you."

Noob turns around to face Sixer, a look of misery in their eyes.

Though covered by the shadow of the sun, Sixer knew that Noob had that piercing look that scared her every time.

"You were the change in my life that I never thought I needed. You made me feel alive. You made me feel like an actual person. But.. Sixer.."

Noob steps closer to Sixer.

"Sixer, YOU actually changed! You actually changed, and nobody has noticed.. no one has noticed how INTERESTING you are now!

"Everyone else is too caught up with their own fragile, perfect life to notice how much you changed! It's been driving me MAD how much they don't value your inability to stay stagnant!"

Noob collapses to the ground, sobbing quietly.

"But at the same time.. it feels so wrong to admit.. but when you showed me how those scripts worked, even though I tried to not give in.. I used them. And you know what I felt? I felt.. powerful. I felt strong enough to take down anyone that stood in my way."

Noob stares up at Sixer, a manic expression on their face.

"Sixer. I want to do something with you."

Sixer pointed at herself, a confused and scared look on her face.

"Haven't we always wanted to walk hand-in-hand through this water together? Into the sun? I want to reach the sun with you.. So we can finally leave this rotten mess of a world behind."

Noob gets up, taking off their sandals, taking both of Sixer's hands in theirs.

"What do you say, Sixer? Show me how the scripts function, one last time, and let's reach the cosmos together."

Sixer shakes her head as Noob steps closer to the water, pulling Sixer with them.

Sixer pulls up the scripts beside her, using them to speak.

"I don't want to, Noob. Please.. stop."

"What? What do you mean, "stop"? I don't recall you saying that when you forced me to use those scripts." Noob says to Sixer, their voice shaking slightly. "Sixer. Say it. Tell me to step forward."

Sixer shakes her head once more, but Noob forces her closer to the water.

"If you don't want to, I will."

Noob pulls Sixer forward, their feet touching the water again.

"Come on in, Sixer. the water feels so nice."

Noob pulls Sixer to step into the water, and Sixer flinches momentarily.

"Stop acting like you're the same Sixer I knew before you got addicted to those scripts. Both of us know that you aren't. You've changed, Sixer."

Further into the water they go.

It's at their ankles now.

"Just keep walking.."

Deeper they went.

Despite Sixer's pleas, Noob silenced her every single time, forcing her to walk further in.

"Whatever you do, Sixer, don't let go of my hands."

Sixer can only nod in silence as the water reaches their waist.

"It'll be okay. We can reach the skies, can't we? Believe in me."

As the water reaches their shoulders, Sixer begins to shiver.

"It's.. colder than I thought.." Noob whispers, dragging Sixer along. "We'll be fine. We'll make it. We always did."

Sixer attempts to pull away from Noob, but to no avail.

Her scripts are glitching, as they aren't necessarily waterproof, so it's not like she can even get out.

She's going to die, isn't she? All because of..

No. It wasn't Noob's fault. It was her own fault for forcing Noob to cheat. To use those scripts. to..

In any case, it was too late now.

Sixer could barely breathe by the time the water reached her head halfway, having to hold her own head above the water for air.

Noob forced them back underwater, continuing to move deeper, and deeper, and deeper, and deeper, and deeper..

Sixer could barely recognize where they were going or who Noob even was at this point. They felt like a stranger, and their hands felt so foreign to Sixer.

Sixer's vision slowly faded as she went deeper under the water, the last thing she recalled seeing being Noob's face, which was a mixture of someone in a manic episode and someone who was scared.

But no longer could Sixer dwell on that, as she slowly lost consciousness, the cold water enveloping her still and floating form as she slowly drowned along with Noob.
