Chapter Text
Cover High was never without a bit of excitement. From the classes to the clubs, there was always something going on.
Especially for a certain gremlin.
“Gigi!” Elizabeth called out to the blonde, who was already dashing down the hallway.
“They’re getting away, Liz!” Gigi picked up her pace, leaving Elizabeth behind. Ahead of her were the twins, Mococo and Fuwawa, frantically trying to evade their assailant.
“Moco-channnn,” Fuwawa cried, “I told you not to bring Pero!”
“He looked so sad and lonely,” Mococo shot back. “I was just going to let him stay in my backpack!”
“Moco-chan!”
The twins continued bickering as they ran, quickly turning a corner in an attempt to lose Gigi. Unfortunately, they didn’t anticipate someone else to be in their path.
“Ouff!-“ Mococo fell back, clutching onto her backpack. Pero stuck his head out of the pocket he was hiding in and barked.
“Geez, Mococo, you should really watch where you’re going.”
Mococo looked up, and was met with verdant green eyes and white hair. Cecilia stuck her hand out to help the pink twin up.
“Hoeh?? It’s not like you saw me coming either, you know…” Despite her words, Mococo accepted the hand offered to her.
“You got ‘em Cece!” Gigi grinned cheerfully as she approached the group.
“Hm?” Cecilia looked at Gigi, confused, before finally noticing the smuggled puppy in Mococo’s bag. “Hey, wait, did you two seriously bring your dog to school??”
“He gets lonely!!” Mococo insisted, holding Pero protectively.
“Yeah!” Despite her scolding earlier, Fuwawa rushed in to defend her sister. “Moco-chan just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t be all sad at home! Is that so wrong?”
“Not necessarily,” Elizabeth said, having finally caught up to the group. “But it’s still against policy to have a pet on school grounds without permission. I’m afraid I’ll have to let a teacher know about this.”
“That’s not fair!” Mococo protested. “You can’t just take Pero away from us!”
“He’s not even supposed to be here,” Cecilia pointed out.
“That’s none of your business,” Fuwawa said, crossing her arms.
“We’re the disciplinary committee, it literally is our business!” Gigi yelled back.
“Girls!” The group turned to look at Elizabeth. “We’re not here to start a fight. We’re here to make sure the rules are being upheld. Mococo, Fuwawa, you both know that school is no place for a dog. It’s disruptive to the learning environment.”
The twins looked like they wanted to argue back, but Elizabeth continued before they could get a word in.
“Now. As for what will happen to Pero…” She placed her hand to her chin as she thought. “There isn’t enough time before classes start to let you take him back, but I’ll ask Mr. Henma if he can stay in his classroom until someone can pick him up. Does that sound fair?”
Mococo and Fuwawa looked at each other, having an unspoken conversation before they sighed in sync and turned back to Elizabeth.
“I guess…” Fuwawa relented, seemingly still unhappy with the arrangement.
“Just make sure he gets his belly rubs, okay?” Mococo held out her bag for Elizabeth to grab Pero.
The redhead smiled.
“Of course.”
“Liz, we should get going,” Cecilia tugged at Elizabeth’s sleeve. “Classes are going to start soon.”
“Aww, already?” Gigi groaned. “Hey, Mococo, Fuwawa, you’re both still good for a chase, right? Neither of you wanna go to class right?”
“No way!” They protested in sync.
“Sheesh, alright, alright!” The shorter girl laughed, a mischievous glint in her eye as she looked at Cecilia. “Bet I’ll make it there before you, Cece!”
“Wha-“ Cecilia sputtered as Gigi took off. “Hey, wait! That’s not fair!”
Gigi could hear Elizabeth sigh behind them.
“Those girls…”
“-and then she just walked off with Pero!” Mococo bit into her donut angrily as Fuwawa nodded along.
“Didn’t you hand him to her?” Nerissa asked playfully. “And besides, you probably would’ve been in even bigger trouble if you’d been caught by someone like Mr. Smokey.”
“…I guess that’s true,” Mococo said, calming down. “But it’s still not fair how they’re always on us like that!”
“Yeah,” Fuwawa agreed. “Gigi’s always up to something, but she never gets in trouble for it!”
“I bet it’s cause she’s on the disciplinary committee,” Bijou said. “I’m telling you, the system’s corrupted!”
The twins nodded along to Bijou’s words, agreeing wholeheartedly. Nerissa chuckled at the sight.
“I guess those four have really had it out for us since the school year started…” Nerissa turned her head. “What do you think, Shiori?”
Standing at the edge of the little group, Shiori looked up from her book. She glanced over with feigned disinterest, before breaking out into a grin.
“I think those girls need to learn to relax a little more.” She shrugged, closing her book and walking closer. Nerissa beamed. “To be honest, I think they’re the only ones on the committee who take it as seriously as they do.”
“Right?!” Bijou and the twins cried out at the same time.
“To be fair, we kind of make ourselves easy targets,” Nerissa pointed out. She offered a bite from her bento to Shiori, who accepted it wordlessly. “I mean, bringing a dog to school? It’s not exactly subtle…”
“Hey, whose side are you on??” Mococo glared angrily at Nerissa. The black-haired girl raised her hands placatingly.
“We still shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells around them,” Shiori pointed out. “They’re always waiting for someone to slip up so they can call them out.”
“Yeah, yeah!” Bijou nodded. “Yesterday, Raora said my ribbon was crooked!”
“I thought your ribbon looked fine?” Mococo tilted her head.
“Exactly! It was barely noticeable and she still called me out!”
“There, there.” Shiori walked over to Bijou and offered a pat on the head.
“How about we go somewhere after school today?” Nerissa suggested. “To get our minds off what’s been happening here at school?”
“Oh, oh!” Mococo perked up. “Fuwawa and I know just the place!”
“Ohh! Yeah!” Fuwawa brightened as well. “There’s a new live house nearby! We should go check it out!”
“A live house?” Nerissa smiled widely, excited by the idea.
“Mhm!” The twins nodded in sync. “Right next to the arcade!”
“Hehehe…” Bijou chuckled dramatically. “Then perhaps afterwards I can show you my true power…!”
“Sounds like it’s settled, then.” Shiori reopened her book. “We can meet up at the entrance after classes finish.”
The group cheered in agreement.
