Nobody cared.
That was what Neuvillette thought. Well, It was 90% true. Her friends never checked up on her, her girlfriend was physically there, but emotionally? Consider her not there.
Neuvillette was in her room again, doomscrolling on some mainstream app. She just finished crying, tissues on the floor filled with dry snot. Her pillow had some wet stains, but not noticeable. She had just finished arguing with her mom about some bullshit. The urge to cut herself was intense, raging in her mind like a motherfucker. She tried her best not to cry again. Yet, she did, because what was the point of holding it in if nobody was going to check on her?
**The next day**
The all girls school was bright and filled with girls going to class. Neuvillette decided to miss out for the day, despite the screaming match early in the morning. Zhongli was sitting at her desk, chatting with Hu Tao until Furina came bursting in to their direction.
“Furina? What’s the matter?” Zhongli asked.
Furina paused to catch her breath.
“It’s Neuvillette. Have you seen her anywhere?”
Zhongli and Hu Tao looked at each other before shaking their heads. Furina got more concerned as they did that.
“Why? What happened with her?” Hu Tao asked.
Furina glared at Zhongli.
“You’re her girlfriend, shouldn’t you know what’s up with her?”
Zhongli blinked before looking away.
“Zhongli.”
She looked at her again.
“I… haven’t been letting her open up lately. And I feel guilty about it.”
Furina and Hu Tao looked at her in shock. The concept of Neuvillette’s girlfriend, not checking up on her?
“I’m sorry! I’ll go check up on her right away!”
With that, she ran out of the classroom and the building, running to her bike, her only source of transportation. She got on and peddled quickly to Neuvillette’s house. She arrived 10 minutes later, knocking on the door. When nobody answered, she sighed and took some spare keys out of her backpack. After that, she opened the door. Pure silence.
“Neuvilette..?” She called out.
No answer. She headed upstairs to where her room was. She fiddled with the doorknob. Locked. On the other side, Zhongli could hear quiet sniffles.
“Neuvillette..? It’s me.” Zhongli said softly.
As the door opened, revealing Neuvillette in the middle of a messy crying session, fresh blood rolling down her arms.
“Neuvillette?!” Zhongli yelped out before forcing her into a hug.
Neuvillette’s eyes widened.
“Zhongli…Why are you here?”
“Furina told me about you. I hate myself so much…I could’ve prevented this from happening!”
“No…don’t blame yourself. It’s my fault for not opening up.”
“Neuvillette!”
Zhongli started crying too. Tears of guilt ran down her face.
“I’m so sorry…I’ll never leave you alone in this state again.”
With that, Zhongli led Neuvillette back to their bed so they can cuddle.
