Chapter Text
UA High is the number one most prestigious high school for Pro Superheroes- the foundation of Japan that prevents criminal activity. Three years of advanced learning to achieve the best possible version of oneself as a superhero- the glue and defense that kept the citizens of Japan safe. With huge halls, massive training facilities and a seemingly endless lunch menu with the world's best cafeteria food as some would argue.
Wellston High was just a prestigious- in fact, the number one school in their region. An established hierarchy with the top students of their region, with the top two students being levels 7.5 and 8.0. Obviously, violence was a completely fine way to display power and the violence between societal tiers. It wasn't a problem of course, given that their school nurse could heal broken bones in hours.
And of course, Turf War battles. Where the top 3 students of each school, the King, Queen and Jack, fight against other schools using their abilities.
Most people would probably agree that UA High clears Wellston in many ways. For example, less violence and bullying. Except the students from Wellston argue that their school's triple tier chocolate cake is far superior, which levels all of that. Obviously.
"I like our school's cake more," Isen says, still stuffing his face full of UA's chocolate cake. It was still amazing, nonetheless. Soft, warm and exploding into his mouth with molten lava gooeyness-- a perfect desert only second to the triple tier cake. He, Blyke and Remi sit at a table together, eagerly loading up plates of amazing food that Lunch Rush cooked.
Remi's plate is stacked with more sweets than savories though, stacked iced donuts and pancakes (an amazing choice for lunch) sitting on her bright blue tray. Blyke has enough on his tray to feed a small village. Four burgers (each one a double stuffed cheeseburger with bacon and egg), two bowls of fries with sweet and sour sauce and a milkshake.
"Big back," Isen coughs, hacking loudly to hide his clearly audible insult. He shoves the last of his cake down his mouth, eagerly looking around the table for more food. Blyke's eyes flare a bright yellow, glowering at Isen.
"Didn't realize my eating offended you, Isen," he rolls his eyes, stuffing his face full of burger.
Isen snickers, reaching over to eat a fry on Blyke's tray. Blyke flicks Isen's hand, the fry landing on the floor.
Isen stares at Blyke, mock betrayal showing on his face. He looks over at the fry on the floor, mourning the loss of a perfectly beautiful and delicious looking stick of junky amazingness. "What was that for?" he protests, reaching for another one. He clearly didn't learn anything from Blyke's earlier reaction.
"Don't. You fucking. Dare," Blyke snaps, moving his tray to the side. The fries move with it, scooting dangerously towards the edge of the table. "Why? You have 2 bowls of them!" Isen protests, hand whipping forward to grab it.
BZZT.
The two of them freeze, slowly turning their heads to look over at Remi.
The smile on her face has no warmth behind it.
"Blyke, Isen, let's calm down, shall we?" she says, blue arcs of electricity winding around her fingers.
Remi lowers her voice, her eyes flashing a bright red as she leans forward. "We wouldn't want to cause trouble at the school we're visiting, would we?" she asks, staring at them both in the eyes.
Their school reputation was already on probation from Zeke and John's brawl that ended up destroying a bit of school property earlier. Which Darren, their supervisor for the exchange, had nearly lost his mind over and put both of them into their graves.
Blyke and Isen duck their heads, apologizing profusely.
Remi nods approvingly before sitting back down, snatching up a few of Blyke's fries as she does so.
"Rems!" Blyke protests, his precious golden fries vanishing at a rapid rate.
Meanwhile, a few tables away, the Bakusquad stare at the group. Kaminari looks over with increasing interest, his eyes locked on a particular pinkette.
"Yoo, she's so cute," he whispers, yellow eyes eyeing the girl. She has long pink hair, held at the back with a blue bow. The heart earrings in her ears sparkle under the dim lights of the cafeteria, matching the shade of her eyes. She's objectively pretty, facial features angled but rounded and friendly at the same time.
Jirou elbows him. "Stop staring," she hisses under her breath. Kaminari turns to her, face showing a mocking injured expression.
"Is it wrong of me to admire objective beauty?" Kaminari says jokingly, a hand pressed to his temple. Jirou just sighs, taking a sip of her juice.
"I must agree the lady is divine," Mineta says, voice thick as he leans forward, the purple balls on his head gleaming. He takes a thick sip of his juice, eyes never leaving Remi.
"I'm gonna go ask for her number," Kaminari whispers, slowly rising.
"Haha, you should definitely go for it, Kaminari," Mina grins, her pink hair bouncing as she looks up excitedly. Kaminari was right- the exchange student was particularly cute. If Kaminari liked her, he should definitely go for it! It was definitely more exciting than watching her classmates be boring and drama free.
"That's so manly, Kaminari," Kirishima grins, the white spikes of his teeth showing. Kaminari sends him a thankful grin, holding up his phone from his pocket. The bright yellow phonecase sparked in his hand, electricity crackling around from his barely hidden nerves.
"Tch, look forward to getting your sorry ass rejected," Bakugo snarks. The blonde looks somewhat amused nonetheless, his blonde hair spiked up. Kaminari pouts once before turning towards the girl.
"Hey, Bakubro, have some hope for Kaminari," Kirishima grins, smashing his knuckles together. He was pumped for his friend, wishing him the best of luck.
Kaminari walks towards the table, each footstep feeling like it was barely getting him anywhere. He steels his heart, trying to stop it from beating erratically in his chest.
"Excuse me?" he calls, making the trio sitting at the table turn towards him.
The three of them send a somewhat welcoming look at Kaminari, trying to seem as friendly as possible to make up for John and Zeke.
Remi sends him a brilliant smile, her eyes curious. "Hi, how can we help you?" she asks, voice sounding like honey and angels mixed in one to his ears.
"Shit, he actually did it," Jirou whispers, eyeing the table. She watches over the blonde talk to Remi, feeling something crawl towards her throat and downwards.
The whole Bakusquad excitedly look over at Kaminari's endeavors, trying to figure out what was going on. Even Bakugo who usually hated stuff like this looked mildly interested.
"Can I get your number?" Kaminari asks, holding out his phone. He looks at her with hope, offering her a quick wink before leaning forward. He sends her his best smile, acting perfectly calm.
It's not even Remi who reacts first.
Blyke and Isen immediately stand up, towering over Kaminari. They glower down at him, eyes flaring a bright red and yellow.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" the two snap in unison, shuffling in front of Remi to block her from Kaminari's view. Fury twists their features, their previous smiles disappearing for threatening scowls.
"Ah-Sorry-I didn't know she was already taken?" Kaminari squeaks, genuinely terrified for his life from the look of pure murder in the boys' eyes.
"I'm not!" Remi calls from behind them, standing up. "Seriously, he probably just wanted it so we could connect our classes more," Remi sighs.
With strength unexpected to Kaminari, she pushes the two to the side. She grabs his phone, prepared to type in her number. Blyke immediately snatches the phone, instead punching in his own number.
"There," he glowers, staring down at Kaminari who looks like a terrified cat. "Now our classes can connect." The smile on his face doesn't match the absolute violence in his yellow eyes, already planning on how to get rid of Kirishima. Isen stands next to Blyke, arms crossed threateningly.
Isen normally doesn't look or act threatening, but when he wants to, people often forget how terrifying an over 6" giant looks. Especially when he's furious.
"Oh," Remi says, turning to Blyke. She blinks once mouthing at him what his problem was. Then she turns back to Kaminari, a kind smile on her face.
"Well, what was your name?" she asks. Her eyes make their way to Kaminari's, making him blush. She's pretty close to him, her face maybe half a meter away. It offers the perfect view of her perfect facial features, big doe eyes and pink lips.
"She asked a question," Isen snaps, glowing at Kaminari. "Oh-I'm Denki Kaminari," he says quickly, ducking his head to hide how flustered he is. And the terror in his eyes.
Remi smiles. "It's nice to meet you, Denki," she says, offering her hand for a handshake. Kaminari holds it for half a second before running off. Blyke looked too ready and eager to rip off his whole arm.
"I'm going to kill him," Blyke whispers, staring at Kaminari run back to his table.
"I've already thought of a foolproof plan to dispose of the body," Isen says under his breath, eyes glowing bright orange to lock on a target to Kaminari.
"Perfect," Blyke says, crossing his arms.
"Hey tough guy!" Isen yells after Kaminari. He turns slowly, terror in every inch of his body. "Y-yes?" Kaminari squeaks, trapped underneath the weight of Isen's gaze locked on him. "We challenge you to Turf War so we can beat your ass," Isen snaps, cracking his knuckles. "Isn't Turf War meant for Royals only?" Blyke whispers, looking irritated.
"What's the problem?" Isen asks, knowing Blyke was Jack (in this timeline Arlo is still King for some reason). Blyke groans, irritation in his eyes. "Don't go wagering battles that you aren't going to fight in," he snaps. Isen shrugs defensively. "I'll fight! I'll get uh Arlo or someone to switch with me," he mutters.
"Guys! Stop harassing the poor guy," Remi sighs, placing her hands on their shoulders. Lightning jams into them, making them spasm violently from the shock. "Argh!" they yelp in unison, hair frazzled when she lets go.
"Seriously, we're here to show that our school's great and stuff," Remi hisses under her breath, nudging their feet with the point of her shoe. They sigh, shrinking down to appear less threatening to Kaminari.
"I'd like to apologize for my idiots," Remi calls, ducking her head. She smacks her arms on Blyke and Isen's shoulders, forcing them to bow respectfully. They glare at Kaminari from their ducked positions, somehow looking intimidating despite their rather submissive pose.
"Ha, on top of being rejected you got threatened?" Bakugo laughs, the sharp sound cutting through the tension around him. He leans forward from his table, red eyes showing maniacal excitement.
"Leave it alone, Bakugo," Jirou whispers. She should feel bad for Kaminari but she's personally relieved.
"Hey!" Mina shouts, standing up. "Pinky to pinky, could I ask what your problem?"
Remi blinks, confused. "What? We don't have any problems with you all," she says, trying to look friendly.
"Well those two definitely do," Mina says, sending a look at Blyke and Isen. Remi kicks their shins, forcing then to drop the glare.
"You said something about a challenge?" Kirishima asks, trying to keep the peace between the groups.
Blyke scowls before forcing it to go away. "Yeah. Turf War to pick a bone with this guy," Blyke says, pointing at Kaminari who shrieks and dives behind Bakugo.
"Bring it on, ketchup," Bakugo roars, eagerly looking back at him. "Tch, you're scared of this guy, dunce face?"
"You're making it worse, Bakugo," Kaminari whimpers, eyeing the way Blyke's eyes glow.
"You wanna go, you chihuahua?" Blyke asks, a mocking smile on his face. Isen snickers next to Blyke, looking pumped.
"Chihuahua?" Bakugo roars, standing up. He's furious, a vein on his temple. Isen rolls his eyes. And I thought John had anger issues, he thinks.
"Wait-" Jirou steps in, shoving Bakugo to the side. "What is this Turf War you guys are mentioning?"
The trio stars at her for a second, wondering if she was joking. "Oh, it must be a states thing," Remi says, looking over for Isen to explain. "Yeah, so basically the top 6 students of each school face each other," Isen says, the lie slipping past his tongue easily.
Remi sends him a confused look. Blyke cuts in, agreeing. "Yup. So the top 6 of Wellston and a healer will come to any Turf nearby to fight the top 5 of your school."
"Ha, you bet we'll be there," Bakugo grins, hauling Kaminari up to his feet. "Call Deku and half and half bastard," Bakugo snaps to Jirou, making her sigh.
"Not your errand girl but alright," she says, pulling out her phone to call Yaoyorozu.
"Isen! Remi hisses, "Why'd you say it was the school's top 5?" Isen raises his defensively, a grin on his face at his own genius.
"The guy we wanted to fight definitely isn't their top 3," Isen says. Blyke nods. "So by saying top 5, he'll be more likely to be on their team," he agrees, impressed that Isen had the occasional proactive idea.
Remi sighs. "He just asked for my number. You guys are so overprotective when I'm stronger than you," Remi mutters, more or less under her breath.
"Just wait until I pass you," Blyke grins. "I might be waiting for a long time then," Remi teases, making Blyke pout.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU GOT US IN A TURF WAR?"
Isen flinches, holding away the phone from his ear. The sound stabs into him, making him wince with pain. "I'm sorry, Arlo! But some guy was hitting on Remi," Isen mutters, massaging his poor ears.
"And you thought you should beat him up for it," comes Arlo's deadpan response. "Well- Can you come at least? We need John, Seraphina and Elaine," Isen begs into the phone.
Arlo's sighs audible from even where Remi and Blyke stand. "Fine. But don't blame me if they don't show up. You know what they're like," Arlo says.
"Who was that?" Seraphina asks, raising an eyebrow. She leans against John, her back pressed to his arm.
"Sounded like Isen," John says, eyeing the blonde King.
Arlo nods. "The idiot challenged UA to Turf War," he sighs. John blinks. "Uh, alright? Do you have to get going or something?" John asks.
Seraphina eyes Arlo's reaction. "Don't tell me that idiot's making all of us come," she says slowly. Arlo winces before his expression resumes it's naturally unbothered brooding.
"He requested for all three of us and Elaine," Arlo replies. He stands up before looking expectantly at the two of them.
"Fuck no," John says instantly. He opens his phone to see a bunch of increasingly desperate and begging texts from Isen.
"If John's not going, I'm not going either," Seraphina says, shifting to get more comfortable. She opens Flappy Pig, the blindingly pink screen flaring. "I'm done with Turf War anyway," she says unbothered.
Arlo towers down over them, already irritated since this morning.
"Listen here both of you," he snaps, voice low, "I was stuck all morning ever since this moron here and another one decided to destroy school property."
He glowers at John, blue eyes furious. "I have apologised for you and dragged my ass around to excuse your attitude." He leans in, looking borderline crazy.
"The least you could do after breaking your promise that you'd be well behaved for the whole trip, you could do this one favour." Arlo's voice starts to rise, straining from the amount of self control he was forcing to stop from yelling.
John glowers at Arlo. "I don't owe you anything," he snaps. Seraphina looks up. "Fine. I'll go then," she says. Arlo raises an eyebrow but doesn't complain.
"Why the sudden change of heart?" he asks, crossing his arms. Seraphina shrugs. "I'm curious about the guy who asked Remi out," she says.
"How do you know of that?" Arlo asks, knowing full well he didn't tell the two about it. Seraphina points to John's phone. "I read the messages."
John groans. "Seraaaa," he says, petulant, looking up at Seraphina with huge puppy eyes. To which Sera almost loses to.
Because they're so big and gold and gold and cute and he's cute and- "No," she says, shaking her head. She leans down, placing her hands on John's shoulders.
"Hey, you don't have to come if you don't want to," she says, knowing his history with Turf Wars. She meets John's eyes, smiling reassuringly at him. She turns towards the blonde. "Lead the way, Asslo."
John sighs, getting up. "I'm coming too," he says. Seraphina looks at him worryingly. "Where you go, I go." His words are simple, but they don't hide the small twitches that run through his arms.
Seraphina walks over, gently twining her fingers through his. He relaxes, subconsciously leaning towards her.
.
.
.
A familiar orange-haired boy waits outside the grounds of Ground Gamma, the place where UA students had agreed to fight in a Turf War against Wellston. "Arlo!" Isen says, relief written across his face. He runs across to them, orange eyes glowing as he hurtles across. "Thank you for coming," he says, practically crying with relief. Arlo just stares Isen, unimpressed.
"I suffered a lot to get these two here," Arlo mutters, John and Sera following him. "Yo, Isen," Seraphina says, raising her hand in a greeting.
"Why do you need us here if you, Remi and Blyke are here already?" John asks, leaning forward with slightly narrowed eyes. Isen raises his hands defensively, sheepishly taking a step back. "So, uh..." he says, looking anywhere but at the three. "So?" Seraphina prompts, leaning forward.
"I kinda said that Turf War was a battle of the top 6 of each school instead of 3 so I could get revenge on a guy who kind of asked Remi out," he blurts out in one breath. "I mean- Are you seriously that bothered over the guy asking Remi out?" Seraphina asks, feeling bad and amused for Remi.
Isen looks down, embarrassment written across his face. "Anyway, could you guys follow me? The UA students are here," he says, ducking his head. John sighs but follows Isen, Seraphina right next to him. Arlo follows, blue eyes betraying his exhaustion and irritation at the situation.
Thei exchange trip was supposed to be peaceful and relaxed, but John and Zeke had to crash in and start picking problems on each other, which really messed him up. He was half eager to take it out on something- anything- to get it out of his system. His blue eyes glow faintly, ready to test the strength of the Number 1 school in Japan.
"Well, well, took your sweet time, huh?" Katsuki Bakugo snaps, mouth twisted into a scowl. Stray explosions fire from his palms, casting a bright light across his features. His blonde hair spikes up, the red of his eyes flared and maniacal.
"We have to respect the exchange students, Bakugo," Shoto Todoroki says next to him, his red and white hair swept up. He's undeniably handsome, is the first thing the Wellston students notice about him. His blue and grey eyes look over to them with a subtle interest, surveying over the Wellston group.
"Y-yeah, Kacchan, let's try and calm down, right?" Izuku Midoriya says, looking over worriedly at his childhood best friend. His green hair fluffs up in untamed curls, freckles across his face. He fidgets nervously with his hands before muttering under his breath, a notebook pressed to his chest.
"We'll do our best, right Deku?" Ochako Uraraka grins next to him, patting his back. Midoriya flinches before smiling at her, a light pink flush dusting his ears. "Oh, where's Iida?" Midoriya asks, looking around for their straight laced friend. "Uhmm I kind of omitted him from this," Uraraka says sheepishly. Which was a good decision on her behalf. A fight between schools, especially a violent one, would not sit right with the Class President at all.
Isen waves, grinning. "The main power force of Wellston is here," he says victoriously.
"Where's the blonde rat at?" Blyke whispers, looking around for Kaminari. Kaminari peeks from over Bakugo's shoulder, eyes filled with terror as he meets Blyke's murderous gaze. "Blyke, knock it off," Remi hisses, elbowing Blyke's gut. He winces, looking over at Remi apologetically. "Okay," Blyke says, the glow in his eyes refusing to dim completely.
"Should we do an introduction first? Oh, get your lineup first though," Isen says, trying his best to keep both sides at peace with each other.
"Lineup?" Bakugo asks, turning to the UA side. "The top 6 of our school in order," Momo Yaoyorozu says, appearing at his side with a firm nod. "Uhh, how do we figure that out though?" Kyoka Jirou asks, her earphone jacks twisting around each other. "We can roughly guess based on recent training exams," Yaoyorozu says. Then, she turns to Isen.
"You mentioned some positions to uphold? Would you mind explaining that to us?" she asks, ponytail swishing around. 'Woah, what a baddie,' is all that floods Isen's mind before Blyke sends a well aimed kick at his shins.
"Oh. Right," Isen says hastily. "We have the Jack of hearts, Jack of diamonds, Jack of spades, Jack of clubs, Queen and King. Though sometimes one of the Jacks are substituted for an Ace or Joker," Isen says. "Queen and King respectively go to the strongest male and female student. Joker and Ace are special positions." Most of the Wellston students look over at Isen, half impressed by his ability to lie.
John, on the other hand, was unimpressed. He looks over at the UA side, not exactly eager to start fighting it out.
"Ha, we'll beat them instantly," Bakugo roars, turning towards his classmates. "Obviously, I'm King you losers." He jumps off of the block he was sitting on, palms crackling once again. John just eyes him, eyes narrowing. He hates guys like Bakugo the most.
Seraphina notices, putting a hand on his arm.
"You really don't have to be involved," she says, tracking his gaze to blonde. "That blonde really pisses me off," John mutters, neither rejecting nor accepting Sera's offer.
"What are our positions?" John asks, turning his attention over to Isen who calls them over. "I dunno. We'll probably be Ace and Joker. But if you don't want to be, please step out, John," she looks over at him, gently squeezing his fingers.
John nods, gold eyes meeting her blue ones. "Yeah. Don't worry, I'm doing better now. I'm fine with this," he says, hoping he isn't lying to himself.
"Alrighty. So, our trusty healer as always is Elaine," Isen says, gesturing to the blue haired girl. She nods, standing to the side. She eyes the opposing team, brushing her blue hair over her shoulder.
"I'll step in from here," Arlo says, interrupting Isen. Isen nods, grateful that he would. Arlo was much more experienced than him in Turf Wars. "We'll have you in the first fighting position," Arlo nods, gesturing for Isen to step forward. Isen hesitates for a second before nodding. "Blyke, you'll be the second Jack. Then Remi, you'll be Queen as always. Then I'll be King, and you two can be Joker and Ace. I highly doubt they would be able to beat us to this stage," Arlo says. He isn't underestimating or overestimating UA.
But the chances were that it would be unlikely for UA to have multiple god tiers, especially ones as powerful as John and Seraphina.
"Alright. Well, we'll sit to the side for now," Seraphina says, dragging John over to sit down on one of the blocks to the side of Ground Gamma.
"Listen, John. If they do get past Arlo, I'll fight first, ok? I'm not going to make you fight. Just staying here proves that you've come so far," Sera whispers, gently grabbing John's face. He nods, lashes fluttering shut as he leans in. Sera looks at his face with envy, wondering how his eyelashes were so long. Guys took all of the great lashes, it was really enviable.
"Thanks, Sera," John whispers.
"I'm the King of Wellston, Arlo," Arlo says, stepping forward. Bakugo steps in, a wide smirk on his face. "I'm the King of UA, Katsuki Bakugo," he says, aggressive body language challenging Arlo. Arlo just stares down at Bakugo, his superior height dominating the blonde. Bakugo doesn't react, leaning up with a shit-eating grin.
"First, we'll have the Jacks facing each other," Arlo says, gesturing for Isen to step forward. Isen's eyes glow a bright orange, powering up. "Round face, you're up," Bakugo snaps. Immediately, Uraraka steps forward, hands pressed together. She taps her school uniform, the fabric becoming weightless.
ROUND 1 - Uraraka Vs Isen
"Roger," Uraraka salutes, turning towards Isen. "Be careful, Isen," Remi says, eyeing the brunette. Isen grins.
"Ready," Isen says, gesturing for Uraraka to come. She does immediately, running towards him with her hands outstreched. Isen's eyes narrow, his ability letting him dodge easily. His enhanced speed lets him duck and roll, evading Uraraka's swipe.
He pins a bright orange target on her, eyes already scanning for weak points.
Uraraka taps the ground, a loose boulder floating up to her hand.
Isen's eyes widen. Uraraka lobs the boulder towards him, the boulder flying over his head. She taps her fingers together, the boulder hurtling towards the ground. Isen barely dodges it, sliding to the side as the boulder crashes down into the ground next to him.
He runs towards her, dodging stray boulders that she throws towards him. He spins, dodging under her arms to throw a punch at her ribs. Uraraka goes skidding backwards, tapping her fingers together to root to the ground. She grits her teeth, parrying Isen's next hit and preparing to graze him. Isen whips his arm back, jumping backwards.
Every time her hand reaches out, a warning bell echoes through his head, a warning that there was something dangerous about it. One touch from her hands, and it would be over.
Uraraka wobbles, the hit from Isen doing a lot. She coughs weakly, blood dripping from the corner of her mouth.
"Uraraka!" Midoriya yells from the sidelines, looking over at his friend worriedly. She looks over at him, raising her thumb with a grin. "I'm fine!" she calls, shoving an arm under her ribs.
"You should pay attention to your opponents," Isen whispers.
She whirls towards him, arms flying up to block the hit. It doesn't come. Isen swipes her legs from under her, causing her to slip. She taps her body, floating backwards. She spins around, kicking off of the ground to fly above Isen. He spins on the spot, crouching then pushing off of the ground to hit her out of the sky.
Uraraka grits her teeth, spinning around. Her eyes lock on a familiar object. She taps her palms together, hurtling to the ground. Her hands brush the objects on the ground, throwing them towards Isen.
Mid-air, Isen braces his arms to block. The objects hurtle towards him at full speed, smacking him backwards. He goes flying, crashing into the wall.
Dust rises, making Remi and Blyke look over worriedly.
Uraraka runs after him, fingers tapping against stray objects on the ground as she goes. She throws them towards the direction of Isen, each projectile hurtling towards him. Bright orange bursts from the dust, smashing the objects to the side with ease. Blood drips from his forehead, merging with the bright orange of his eyes.
He smashes his fist into a barrel flying towards him, sending it crashing instead towards Uraraka. The metal collides with his fist, crunching inwards then hurtling towards Uraraka at twice the speed, like a missile. Her eyes widen, tapping her palms together to send the object crashing into the ground instead. All of the objects she made float crash into the ground, burying into the cement below. She rolls forward, tapping Isen's ankle.
Isen's eyes widened. He begins to float, gritting his teeth as he loses control of his stance. Uraraka grins. Her arms whip out, spinning Isen around midair. Isen coughs, back slammed against the ground hard. Uraraka pins him down, driving his body into the ground under her.
"Do you forfeit?" she asks, breathing heavily. Isen coughs, the wind knocked from him. She pins his arms to the ground, doing her best to subdue him even with their size difference.
In response, Isen's eyes glow a bright orange. He smashes his head up, hitting her skull.
Uraraka gasps, her head jerking backwards.
Isen's body pushes up, sending her tumbling off of him.
Isen jumps up, leg flying up in a fast arc to send her flying.
Uraraka coughs, blood spurting from her mouth.
Her body flies through the air, the impact of Isen's kick sending her hunching over mid-air as she rockets towards the wall. She gets sent to the other side of the stadium, her no-gravity state going against her.
She cries out in pain, body crashing against the hard wall of Ground Gamma. UA cries out from their side of the field, standing up to see if she was alright.
Arlo stands up, a golden barrier rising to block them. "Interference isn't allowed unless the King or herself allows her to forfeit," Arlo says, blue eyes coldly surveying the direction that the girl went flying towards.
All of the UA students turn to Bakugo, panic in their eyes. "Kacchan, you have to make her stop. She already took a direct hit," Midoriya says, his green eyes widened. Bakugo looks towards the rising dust cloud, and sees Isen's figure whip past in a blur of orange towards Uraraka.
"Fuck," he curses. "Just do it!" Midoriya begs, horror taking over his features as Isen picks up the dented barrel. He throws it towards the dust cloud as hard as he can, the sound of metal crashing echoing through the ground.
"We aren't forfeiting," Bakugo snaps, a deep scowl on his face. "Bakugo! Uraraka's about to get seriously hurt!" Kirishima yells, angrily turning to his friend. Bakugo turns, eyeing Kirishima and Midoriya in the eyes.
"You know Round Face better than anyone. If we force her to forfeit, she'll hate us. She never gives up. We can't force anything until she wants to do it herself," Bakugo scowls, red eyes eyeing the wreckage.
Then, a figure rises from the dust.
Uraraka stands, arm pressed to her ribs. She coughs, blood dripping down her chin. Her brown eyes hold fight, tapping the wall next to her. The chipped stone of the wall comes off, rising in a meteorite formation around her.
"Take... this!" she yells. She reaches behind her, hitting each of the stone towards Isen with a metal pole. "Meteorite home run!"
Isen's eyes flare a brighter shade of orange.
He takes in each of the boulder's trajectories and speed, shifting his body to dodge them all. A poor matchup for Uraraka. His eyes survey the multiple targets and warnings flying towards him, dodging it all. His shoes scuff the ground, boulders crashing into the ground next to him, barely missing. A stray rock breaks off the bigger boulder, flying upwards. He barely tilts his head to the side, the rock splitting open a cut on his face.
Isen kicks at the last boulder, sending it flying back towards Uraraka. His foot collides with the stone, the loud crack sounding through the room as Isen kicks it towards her like a football.
She stares at it with wide eyes, too late to react. The whites around her brown eyes show, shock flashing through them like lightning. It crashes into her gut, sending her against the wall again.
Her back trails down the wall, slowly sliding down the ground. She slumps forward, unconscious.
"We win the first round," Arlo says, waving his hand. The golden barrier he was holding up vanishes, letting UA students immediately run towards Uraraka.
"Uraraka!" Jirou shouts, running over to her friend. She drops to the ground, holding up the unconscious friend. She looks over at Isen and the rest of Wellston, disgust in her eyes. "Is this what you State schools do? This is awful," she snaps, placing her hand on Uraraka's forehead. "You guys are seriously messed up," Jirou says, speaking out without thinking about it. Yaoyorozu ducks next to her, placing her arm on Jirou's shoulder to get her to calm down.
The Wellston students just blink, confused. This was pretty common. And Isen didn't even go far at all.
Elaine steps forward. "I was about to heal her, if you don't mind," she says stiffly. Jirou's eyes narrow. "Heal? Like recovery girl? You can't do that on her while she's low on energy," Jirou protests, refusing to move from Uraraka's side. Her earphone jacks perk up, the sharper points of them tilting upwards.
Elaine stares down at her. Her green eyes look down at Jirou, her blue bangs casting a shadow over them. "I don't really remember you saying that you were a healer yourself," she says, placing a hand on Uraraka's arm. Her eyes glow green, her aura healing the injuries on Uraraka's body. It transfers from her palms, smoothing over Uraraka's skin. Cuts and bruises fade from her body, her ribs healing over. Jirou stares at Elaine, mouth agape. Elaine just shrugs, turning around. "I'd get her still checked out by your nurse or ours once we're done. I need to conserve my aura," Elaine says.
"Crap. Is your aura going to last for 5 battles?" Blyke asks, handing her a drink. Elaine sits down, gratefully accepting it. She tilts her head back, taking a huge sip. She wipes her mouth, nodding. "I think. If it comes down to it, I'll have to ask John to help me," Elaine says.
"Don't push yourself," Blyke says. He eyes Isen, wondering how he was holding up. The Uraraka girl had definitely given it her all. A bad match up for Isen as well. The girl was definitely creative in how she used her ability, using objects around her as weapons.
Isen hunches over, taking a breather. He can't heal himself until his time's up. He stretches his arms, trying to ignore the pain in his back.
"You got this, Isen!" Remi calls, pumping her fists. He turns, flashing a thumbs up with a wide grin. He takes a hushed breath, rolling his shoulders backwards. He was fine. He had taken hits way worse from people right here, namely John. He just had to hold on until that stupid dunce showed up.
Midoriya glares at them, wondering how they could hurt Uraraka this badly and think it was normal. Even with a healer with them, it wasn't normal or fine to hurt someone so badly that they end up unconscious. His glare shifts to a worried look, wondering if this was normal in the states. Uraraka lays on her side, eyes closed. She was sleeping, apparently after getting knocked out. The girl from Wellston (Elaine?) had assured them that she was fine.
"Who's your next Jack?" Arlo asks, turning to Bakugo. Bakugo grits his teeth. "Shitty hair, you're up," he says, eyeing the red hair. Kirishima stands up, smashing his knuckles together. "Alright!" he says, the jagged white points of his teeth showing as he grins. He stands straighter, the skin of his hands stiffening then sharpening to become jagged like rocks. He looks across the Turf, determinedly eyeing his opponent.
