The Meeting After the Bombshell

Summary:

Lee Sanghyeok, sitting calmly in front of a camera, casually dropped the single most unexpected sentence in esports history.
“We’ve been married for three years.”

The world had lost its mind.... And so his teammates and their coaches.

Work Text:

The day after the livestream felt strangely unreal. Across every corner of the internet, one clip dominated everything.

Not tournament highlights. Not patch updates. Not roster rumours.

At exactly 9:00 a.m. the next morning, every member of T1 had been ordered into an emergency internal meeting.

The conference room was unusually quiet. Not tense. Not angry.

Just… deeply confused.

The coaching staff sat on one side of the long table, laptops open, exhaustion visible on everyone’s faces after spending the entire night dealing with media inquiries.

Across from them, the players looked equally sleep-deprived. No one had processed what happened yet.

At the very end of the table sat Sanghyeok. Perfect posture. Hands folded calmly. Looking far too relaxed considering he had detonated the internet less than twelve hours ago.

The head coach, Jeonggyun, pinched the bridge of his nose. Then slowly looked up.

“…So,” a long pause. “…You’re married.”

Sanghyeok nodded once.

“Yes.”

Silence.

“…For three years.”

Another nod. “Yes.”

Longer silence.

Then suddenly, Hyeonjun slapped both hands onto the table.

“HYUNG.”

Everyone jumped. He stared at Sanghyeok with absolute betrayal.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN THREE YEARS?”

Minseok leaned forward immediately, looked personally offended.

“We’ve been teammates this whole time and you never said anything! Not a word! Not even a hint!”

The room exploded instantly. Questions flying from every direction.

“You’ve had a husband this whole time?!”

“When were you planning on telling us?!”

“You had a wedding and didn’t invite us?”

“That’s rude, hyung.”

Jaehyeon, one of the coaches, raised a hand weakly.

“Can we please remember there is technically still a media crisis happening?”

Nobody listened. Even Suhwan, the youngest player, was already halfway standing.

“No, wait, I need answers first.”

Hyunjoon pointed accusingly. “You lied.”

Sanghyeok tilted his head. “I omitted information.”

“That is lying.”

“Semantically debatable.”

The room collectively groaned.

Minseok player narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “…Okay.”

He folded his arms. “Start talking.”

Sanghyeok blinked once. “About what?”

Minseok only stared at him. “…Everything.”

Hyeonjun immediately chimed in. “No, seriously.”

He pointed dramatically. “We need context.”

“When did this happen?”

“How did this happen?”

“WHO IS HE?”

Jeonggyun & Jaehyeon sighed deeply.

“We actually do know who he is now.”

Minseok just ignored him.

“How did you meet?”

“Who confessed first?”

“Was there dating?”

“Wait, did Sanghyeok hyung flirt?” Hyunjoon suddenly asked, which made the entire room went silent. Everyone slowly turned toward Sanghyeok. Even the coaches looked interested now.

Jeonggyun quietly muttered, “…Actually I’d like the answer to that too.”

Sanghyeok stared at all of them. Expression unreadable.

“…Why are you all looking at me like this?”

Suhwan leaned forward dramatically.

“Because none of us can picture you being romantic.”

Even Hyeonjun nodded immediately.

“That part is genuinely harder to process than the marriage.”

“Agreed.”

“You don’t even text back within normal human timeframes.”

“That’s true.”

“Sometimes he leaves me on read for eight hours.”

Sanghyeok looked mildly offended. “I’m busy.”

Minseok pointed harder. “And somehow someone married you.”

The room erupted again. Even the coaching staff laughed.

After several chaotic minutes, the players finally settled. Sort of.

Jaehyeon leaned onto the table expectantly. “…So.” A grin. “How did you meet him?”

For the first time all morning, Sanghyeok hesitated. Everyone noticed immediately. And then, something subtle changed. His expression softened. Barely noticeable. But different.

The room grew quieter. Because suddenly, this wasn’t scandal or controversy or media management. This was personal.

And whatever story existed there— Clearly mattered.

Hyunjoon spoke softer now. “…You really love him.” It wasn’t a question.

Sanghyeok looked down briefly. Then nodded. “Yes.”

Simple. Immediate. Certain. No hesitation whatsoever.

The answer alone somehow made the room collectively melt.

Suhwan clutched his chest dramatically. “Oh no.”

Hyeonjun blinked. “Why is that weirdly emotional?”

Jaehyeon whispered, “I’ve never heard him answer anything that fast.”

Even Sanghyeok looked mildly embarrassed now.

Jeonggyun leaned back. “Well, you might as well tell us now.”

Several players nodded aggressively.

“Yes.”

“We deserve answers.”

“I need the full backstory.”

“No skipping details.”

“Start from the beginning.”

Sanghyeok stared at the ceiling briefly. As if debating whether this was worth surviving.

Then finally, he exhaled quietly. “…Fine.”

Everyone leaned in immediately. Phones forgotten. Media crisis temporarily forgotten. The entire room now absurdly invested.

Sanghyeok folded his arms. Thinking. Then began.

“I met him when I was twenty-one.”

Instant reaction.

“TWENTY-ONE?”

“You’ve known him that long?”

“Wait—hold on—that means—”

“Hyung this is getting crazier.”

Hyeonjun pointed again.

“You married your crush?”

Sanghyeok frowned. “He wasn’t my crush.”

A beat. “…Probably.”

The entire room lost control. Several players physically fell backward laughing.

Suhwan was now pointing at him in complete disbelief. “YOU FELL FIRST.”

“No.”

“You absolutely did.”

“No.”

“HYUNG YOU JUST SAID PROBABLY.

Jeonggyun wiped his tears from laughing too hard.

“I cannot believe we’re learning Faker had a crush.”

Sanghyeok visibly regretted everything.

Minseok leaned forward with dangerous curiosity. A grin slowly spreading on his face.

“Important question.”

Everyone quieted instantly. He looked straight at Sanghyeok.

“…Who confessed first?”

The room collectively held its breath. Sanghyeok stared for exactly five seconds.

Then quietly said— “…I did.”

Silence. Pure silence. Absolute disbelief.

Then the conference room exploded louder than the internet had the night before.

“NO WAY.”

“YOU CONFESSED FIRST?!”

“SANGHYEOK HYUNG HAS GAME?!”

“I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS.”

“WHAT DID YOU EVEN SAY?”

“WAIT NO—BETTER QUESTION—”

Hyeonjun slammed the table dramatically. “HOW DID YOU PROPOSE?”

The entire room immediately turned back toward Sanghyeok.

Eyes sparkling. Relentless. Hungry for information.

And for the first time in years— the legendary, untouchable, impossible-to-read Lee Sanghyeok looked genuinely cornered.

Hyunjoon grinned wickedly. “Oh, hyung…” He cracked his knuckles. “We’re not practicing today.”

Minseok nodded. “Absolutely not.”

Suhwan pointed toward the whiteboard. “Cancel scrims.”

Jeonggyun sighed. “…I should stop this.” Then he leaned forward too.

“…But first…”

Everyone stared. Even Sanghyeok knew what was coming. The coach smiled.

“How exactly did you propose?”

Sanghyeok closed his eyes. Deep regret settling in immediately.

Because he suddenly realized, the media discovering his marriage had not been the worst thing to happen this week. No. Far worse.

His teammates now knew. And apparently, they were never letting this go.

Ever.

Notes:

Thanks to my friend who keeps asking me to write the T1 members' reactions to Sanghyeok's tea spill.
