Suabru but instead of return by death he has orihimes Shun Shun Rikka
Basically the ability to reject phenomena by deny or undoing events in various forms
This can be used for attack, defense and support
The activation phrase Is “I Reject”
Yes this is because of orihime beign awesome in the most recent chapters that I realised how Subaru having her ability instead of rbd could actually work
Story chages from cannon?
Subaru has Orihimes abilities instead of return by death. So he has a hair pin similar to orihimes(which oddly is similar to emilias/ maybe it could be the pin that satella has?)
So the encounter at the slums doesn’t end in death, but Subaru “Rejecting emilias death, realizing he can save her and he tries it on felt and rom, (under the assumption their death was recent then it should be possible for them to be revived by rejecting their deaths)
Elsa attacks but because power scaling is bullshit she cannot break through subarus shields Santen Kesshun “ and then realising that their lives are in danger uses Koten zanshun
to try and slice elsa to keep her away after realising that she can regenerate.
Calling out to the trio he reveived he yells at them to get help, scream from the rooftops if they can, cause in the end, despite what he is doing, he is still a scared teen.
Maybe emilia makes a giant pillar of ice to get attention? Or rom and emilia help fight off else while felt runs for help with her DB?
The fight continues and Subaru sustains injuries, he feels the urge to “reject” them and so they become undone, else realising whats going on actually pushes more aggressively until finally reinhards arrives
The fight goes as cannon after that, until the moment elsa attacks from the rubble. Subaru can actually use the sheild to defend emilia, so nobosy obtains major injuries. Then else finally retreats
Everyone is glad that they are all safe, though felt, rom and emilia are looking at Subaru oddly, because he did REVIVE them, and that is a power that is considered forbidden.
Reinhards inquires about what they are talking about “reviving” and they tell rein about Subaru bringing back felt and rom from the dead and saving emilia from fatal injuries.
Rein askes Subaru if he is a master in water/healing magic, to which he exclaims that he has no idea how to use magic, he just wanted to save them and felt the desire to “reject their deaths” this deeply unsettles and makes those around him curious, because being able to “reject” death is basically the power of a god, preventing the soul from returning to od laguna and bringing back those who truly passed away.
Because of this emilia is not able to take Subaru back to her mansion because this revelation of Subaru’s “rejection” ability on top of the fact rein can feel reid trying to leave its sheath,
Felt is asked to hand back the badge, cannon happens in front of Subaru and Subaru, rightly concerned about being kidnpaeed like felt just is, immediately cast a barrier, but unfortunately Reinhardt is strong enough to break through and incapacitate Subaru before the situation can escalate.
That’s arc 1
Not sure how to do arc 2 as that would have to be completely original.
Assuming emilia took Subaru,
Then the arc 2 would go miles better because Subaru would be like he was in cannon, only difference being that when the mabeast bites him he uses the bite as a way to show how cool he is to the kids by “rejecting” it and because the ability rejecets all phenomena, the curse gets rejected too.
So the village later in the day has the kids kidanpped and the mansion has to go save em.
Future points of the power working as a substitute for rbd?
The royal selection duel between Subaru and Julius would be a bit more even cause pretty much only al clarisa could break subs defenses, so in the end he will lose, but that’s a mix of poor skill, and that he would get his by Julius strongest attack, so he would be knocked out but not dead, cause he can reject the wounds anyways.
The whale? Well as long as there is a body he can reject the whales effects, but assuming someone gets well and truly obliterated? Then he doesn’t have a thing to reject in the first place. So yeah….
The witches cult? Assuming all the fingeres die and so does pelegeause? When petel tries taking over subs he could reject he spirit inside him. Or satella could use the pin as a medium ig and push him out. Tho this could be a time to introduces “orihimes” now subarus new spirits? Not sure what to do about that.
Sanctuary? That ones all on puck and the drama and relationships between emilia and them, tb him not smart enough to figure out how to make that work.
But at the very least the great rabbit would be less of a problem as Subaru likely would have trained his ability to use the sheild over a greater area, the rabbits are endless, but not strong, so they could never break through.
Beako is a sore spot because I don’t know how to handle her or even how to do echidna in this fic
God knows that echidna would be raving mad for subarus rejection ability, it defies every form of logic, hell it could possible bring her back. Its well and truly busted.
The waterfront city? Well the vicitims of lust could be fixed? Greeds invulnerability could easily be broken by subs ability, so he is unironically uber easy, just either “reject” his connections or reject his hearts in his wives. Either way, he is pathetically easy.
Gluttony like the whale is an easy fix, reject the phenomenon of the memries being taken/altered. YES ORIHIME IS THAT BUSTED,
The tower isn’t even necessary, so no need to go there as Subaru could fix eridina’s issue, so no vollachia stuff happens, which means the great disaster still ends up happening, not sure how to handle that. Past that point tho? I have absolutely no idea
