Ice. So much ice. Enough to submerge her in that frozen block for forty eight hours. Yet when she was finally released from that bitter cold, she could still feel the crystals resting atop her eyelashes and the frost between her toes.
You'll be fine, Ozlyn. Odd illnesses have odd cures, claimed the nurse.
I'll need you to sit in this tomato sauce for thirty minutes. After that, I recommend you rest in the Pillow Fort Room, explained the doctor.
And there she was. Clutching and clawing away at every pillow and blanket the fort had to offer. Grinding her teeth on the edge of pillowcases, convinced her gums would warm through movement she conducted.
She thrashed through the quilts and the stuffies, attempting to forget more than coldness.
Guilt clung to her like the blankets gripping at her ankles.
She started to sink, the soft items piling on top of her, pushing her lower into the pit.
She started to sink, It's my fault for bringing him those gadgets.
The fort kept consuming her. She didn't fight back. Eventually, she couldn't see above the pillows. She closed her eyes.
Forgive my mistakes,
I should've gone into that black hole.
