Role swap AU HuaLian explanation (so the story makes somewhat sense👀) :
Xie Lian:
After Xie Lian’s first descent from heaven, after the 100 swords scene, and after his parents die, when everyone was gone, his resentment built up into something dangerous, turning him into a ghost king, The Crimson Heart Sought Paradise

Hua Cheng:
In Mount Tonglu, after Hua Cheng had stabbed out his eye, he ascended. Instead of jumping back down like in the original, he stayed, hoping that his godhood would help him find Xie Lian like he’d been intending to, making him into a heavenly official, The General of Faith and Devotion

Imma try and make an explanation for every ship every chapter

Chapter 1: The Four Supremes and The Four Famous Tales

Chapter Text

There are Four famous tales known widely throughout the cultivation land of China. Those tales all talk about four heavenly officials’ journey to their ascension. Those tales enlist:

The General That Continued Through All:

A ghostly warrior that had proven his worth, he had shown endless determination in the infamous Mount Tonglu, going to great limits, like clawing out his own eye, allowing him to ascend for greatness.

The Scholar Who Starved at the Gates:

An impoverished young man had worked endlessly, constantly studying day and night. His talent, determination, and dedication allowed him to ascend.

The General Who Slit His Throat:

A desperate general had taken a sacrifice for his kingdom to not fall. He had slit his own throat, committing suicide. His act had shown heroics and proven his devotion to his kingdom, allowing him to ascend.

The Princess Who Broke Her Sword:

A princess that had endlessly fought a legendary battle, fighting until her enemies fell. Eventually, her kingdom turned against her. She found no point in fighting anymore for a kingdom that wanted to overthrow her and snapped her sword. Her act had shown unyielding loyalty, as she refused to fight her own kingdom, allowing her to ascend.

The Sunset-Touring Golden Screams:

The wronged crown prince of Young’ an. Unhinged and relentless, driven to madness from his kingdom’s fall. Filled with thoughts of revenge, he rules over an unknown territory with an unsettling grin. He wields a nameless lodestone sword.

The Violet-Hearted Misfortune :

Secretive and reclusive Calamity, often seen with a half-smiling, half-frowning mask. A sadistic and malevolent deity.
