Work Text:
The plane was dark, and quiet. The class of P.S. 118, Arnold's grandparents & parents, and Helga's family all sleeping peacefully. There was only one light on above two pre-teens. The football headed boy was staring out the window, at the dark night sky around them. The pigtailed blonde had earbuds on, listening to some quiet music.
As the two's whole trip was filled with excitement, it was nice to enjoy some relaxing peace and quiet.
As Helga's music ended, she took out her earbuds, and gave out a quiet sigh. she glanced at Arnold, then put her hands on her chest.
Quietly, she took out her locket and held it.
You made me everything that I am
She glanced into the corridor of the plane, seeing everyone here sleeping soundly.
You called me names till' I became a name now that's all that I understand
She glanced back forward, and started to smirk, and turned to look at Arnold.
Now the joke's on you cause the whole damn world's at the palm of the fool's hand
She glanced back down at her locket and began to blush. she brought it up to her chest and made an audible sigh.
Now the fool's got to choose and the joker's in the smoker with his palm on the hot pan
Arnold had been staring out into space until he heard Helga's sigh. He glanced behind his shoulder.
Cause I'm that boy with the ball and chain
He turned to face her, and noticed her locket in her hands. He smirked softly, making her blush a little more with embarrassment.
Floating through the sky looking down from my jet plane
She slipped the locket back into her shirt, and put her arm on the armrest, next to Arnold's.
Looking down from my jet plane, oh
Arnold moved his hand on top of hers. Helga's blush was crossing her entire face now. When she looked at Arnold, he started at her with his lidded eyes, full of love.
Yeah, I'm that boy with the ball and chain
Helga started to smile sweetly, and she closed her eyes, not wanting this happiness to spill.
The boy with the ball and chain now
Unexpectedly, Helga took Arnold into a harm, loving hug. Arnold was surprised, indicated by his cheeks turning red. That didn't last long however, as he embraced the hug, and closed his eyes.
I'm looking down from my jet plane
...
They both pull back, still in an embrace. Both with half-lidded eyes.
"I love you Arnold."
"I love you too, Helga."
The couple then shared a gentle, fluffy kiss, content with their lives.
