Work Text:

The tiny bird chirped, rubbing against Gyomei’s finger. “It feels very small. I’m awfully worried about squishing it, I don't know how small it is.” he whispered, tilting his head. I looked up at him, smiling. He couldn’t see my happiness. But I knew he could feel it. “Don’t worry. You’re not gonna hurt it.” I murmured, gently leaning on his shoulder. He had laughed, and I had watched his cheeks flush. He was always so soft and gentle. And cute. “May I hold it?” i asked, holding my hand out for the bird. It hopped into my hand, twittering softly. It had seemed so tiny in Gyomei’s hands, but I had to cup both of my hands to manage to hold it. I had thought it was much smaller, but it was almost the size of my fist. It was very soft, almost like fur instead of feathers. “What colour is it?” Gyomei asked, leaning his head atop mine. I stroked the bird’s back with my thumb, causing it to make a soft squeak. “.. brown. Gray stomach. Orange head. A little robin.” I said, tilting my head against his neck. He was very warm. He smiled, rubbing his cheek against my head. “You have very soft hair.” His voice was so gentle. It was always so sweet and kind. I wished I could hear that voice every day. Hear it whispering my name as I gently stroked his hair. Hear it whimpering as I might ever so gently bite him. I was lost in thought, staring into the middle distance. “Obanai? Are you okay? You haven’t said anything in about five minutes.” I jumped slightly. “I was just thinking.” I whispered, tilting my head back. He smiled. “I like to just think sometimes too.” he murmured, closing his eyes. I laughed, gazing up at him. He was so precious. I gently reached up, touching his face. “Hm?!” he gasped, blinking in surprise. I cupped his face in my hands, rubbing his cheeks with my thumbs. The bird had hopped out of my hand a while ago, standing on my leg now. Kaburamaru slithered up my arm, rubbing against Gyomei’s nose. “What is that? Is that your snake?” he murmured, reaching up to touch the snake’s head. “Yes. His name is Kaburamaru.” I said. “It seems like he likes you.” The snake’s tongue had flicked, brushing a stray drop of sweat off of Gyomei’s face. The man laughed. “That tickles.” he whispered, brushing the snake’s small head with his finger. The snake flicked its tongue, nuzzling into the spot near the man’s eye. “He seems very cute. Is he cute?” he asked, tilting his head. I laughed. “Of course he’s cute.” I said, shifting closer. His face flushed a soft pink as my knees slot either side of his hips. He was always so cute. “I’ve been wanting to ask you something for a while.” I murmured, voice soft and gentle. He nods, smiling timidly. “Do you think you might want to go out with me? Like, on a date?” my voice cracked slightly on the last word. His face flushed hard between my palms. His skin was so warm. “I- I would. I very much would.” he whispered, gently placing one of his hands on my waist. The rest of that day was so perfect. We even went to bed together. He had seemed so soft and small then, head tucked under my chin, arms wrapped around my waist. And we had kissed. But that wasn't what happened at all. He's dead. I killed him. I hurt him, and killed him after. I raped him. I strangled him, and left him to just be found by some poor, unsuspecting person. And I just woke up beside his grave.
