The Earth Master Palace was built to mirror its supposed owner: silent, unyielding, and buried beneath a suffocating weight of stone. For a Supreme Ghost King playing a part, it was a tolerable fortress of solitude. But today, the oppressive quiet was entirely shattered, replaced by the relentless rustle of pastel silks and the bright, breezy cadence of a voice that absolutely refused to recognize the concept of personal boundaries.
I sat low on the dark hardwood divan, slouching just enough to let my heavy outer robes bunch around me. My chin rested in the palm of my hand, my fingers digging slightly into my cheek as I stared blankly at the far wall. Under the heavy, meticulous layers of my "Ming Yi" disguise, my thoughts were a dark, tangled knot. The heavenly masquerade was a tedious game on a good day, but today, my patience was wearing dangerously paper-thin. My spiritual energy was running low from maintaining the illusion, a deep ache sat in my shoulders, and above all, I was intensely, thoroughly hungry.
Shi Qingxuan, completely oblivious to the dark aura radiating off me, pressed herself right up against my side.
She had arrived in her female form today—a whirlwind of pale turquoise, soft pinks, and the faint, unmistakable scent of expensive wind-blossom incense. To her, my silence wasn't a warning; it was a challenge. She leaned across my lap, her long, flowing sleeves draped over my knees as she raised a slender hand to point excitedly toward a high shelf on the opposite wall.
"Ming-xiong, look at that one over there!" she chirped, her voice bouncing brightly off the grand marble pillars. "Is that the spiritual compass you brought back from the southern border? You never told me what it actually does! You just locked it away. And what about that jade scroll next to it? Did you unearth that yourself, or did one of the minor earth gods offer it up?"
With every enthusiastic gesture, she leaned further and further over me, practically draping her entire body across my chest to get a better angle. She was a creature made of light and air, entirely unaware of the friction she was causing. As she tilted her head to look at another corner of the room, the soft, full curve of her breast pressed directly against my cheek, smudging right into my face.
The contact was warm, soft, and entirely too close.
I couldn't move away without shifting her entirely, and she showed no intention of moving on her own. The overwhelming scent of her perfume filled my nose, matching the sudden, irritating heat of her skin. The sheer, blatant lack of personal space—combined with the sharp, hollow growl of my empty stomach—finally snapped the last thread of my restraint.
Driven by pure, unadulterated frustration and a sudden, primal spike of hunger, I didn't push her away. Instead, I turned my head just a fraction of an inch, opened my mouth, and bit down firmly through the fine layers of her silk bodice.
Shi Qingxuan let out a sharp, breathless squeak.
Her entire frame jolted in surprise, a sudden tremor running through her shoulders. The hand she had been pointing with dropped instantly, clapping against my shoulder for balance as she scrambled back just enough to break the direct contact. Her wide, bright eyes stared down at me, her cheeks instantly flushing a deep, brilliant pink that clashed spectacularly with her turquoise robes.
"Ming-xiong!" she whined, her voice dropping into a breathless mix of genuine shock and playful, flustered exasperation. She rubbed at her chest with one hand, pouting down at me with furrowed brows. "Aiyaa... are you that hungry? Let go of my breast, Ming-xiong!"
Instead of releasing her, the sheer absurdity of her whining and the stubborn, empty ache in my stomach made me tighten my hold. I didn't pull back. I didn't even blink.
"No," I grumbled, the low, muffled sound vibrating directly against her skin.
Before she could process the refusal, I leaned in closer, shifting my jaw to bite down even further. The fine silk shifted under my teeth as I clamped down with more pressure.
Shi Qingxuan gasped, her eyes widening as she began to squirm against me. She twisted her torso, trying to wriggle backward off the divan to break my hold, her hands pushing uselessly against my chest. "Wait—Ming-xiong! Ah, let go, it tickles—no, wait, stop!"
Her shifting only irritated me more. Without releasing my bite, I brought my free hand up, catching her firmly by the hip, while my other arm locked around her waist. With a swift, unyielding movement, I pinned her down against my side and the cushions of the divan, trapping her lower body completely beneath mine. My grip was like iron, anchoring her chest right against my face so she couldn't move an inch, letting her realize exactly what happened when she pushed her luck.
