Chapter Text
Harry woke up on a skateboard in a desert. He was sitting with his hands tied together in his lap and his legs tied together. His legs were pushed up against his chest. There was another rope attached to the skateboard, and Rabastan Lestrange was pulling it.
"Oh, what fresh hell is this?" Harry groused.
The man stopped and looked at him.
WELCOME TO ROAD SURVIVAL!
YOU AND YOUR TEAMMATE MUST TEAM UP TO SURVIVE!
1. YOUR VEHICLE IS RANDOM! ONE VEHICLE PER TEAM!
2. YOU CAN'T SWITCH PARTNERS, BUT CAN ADD NEW ONES!
3. UPGRADE YOUR VEHICLES AND LOOK FOR SUPPLY BOXES!
4. DRAW YOUR TALENTS QUICKLY!
ENJOY!
"Oh, so I've actually gone to hell this time." Harry hummed. He glanced up at Rabastan. "Did you tie me up like this?"
The man nodded and pointed at the blue screen. Harry found himself explaining game screens and functions to the man. He opened his own as he explored each screen. He had to use his mind since he couldn't move his hands. He activated the roll for Talents.
"Promotion." Rabastan mumbled.
Harry looked at his own Talent.
"x100 Crit. I touch a resource, I get x100 of that resource." Harry stated. "Now, I'm forming a plan. Let me see the information for your Talent."
Rabastan frowned at him, but let him.
Talent Name: Promotion (Blue grade)
Talent Effect: 1. Can unconditionally promote any item by one rank, 100% probability; 2. Can promote any item by two ranks, 20% probability; 3. Can promote any item by three ranks, 0.01% probability.
"Ugh. A 7 Day cooldown on the guaranteed 3 Grade Promotion. Horrible. Try Promoting my Talent."
Rabastan frowned at him.
"Think about it. There are two of us. I can get that x100, and sure, that will make us comfortable, but if you can upgrade my Talent and we get more supplies, we can sit back and live the good life while trading our huge store of supplies to other players for upgrade materials and blueprints. Blueprints are always key in a game like this." Harry explained. "I know what I'm doing. I'm cooperating for the sake of teamwork. So come on, your turn."
Rabastan reached back and put his hand on Harry's head. His hand glew and Harry smirked.
"It worked. Sort of. My Talent was Purple, or rather Epic quality. I was hoping for that double jump, but only got a single to Gold or Legendary quality." Harry hummed. "Now it's x1,000." He looked at Rabastan. "Okay, now use it on yourself. Trust me."
Rabastan frowned at him, but looked at his hands and focused on using the Talent. His hands glew. He sent Harry the new information.
"Huh? You actually got that 0.01% and raised it three ranks to Orange, which it says is Mythical." Harry hummed. "In most games, that's the highest tier you can get."
Talent Name: Rule Breakthrough (Orange grade)
Talent Effect 1: Can be used on a single item category. 100% chance to increase grade by one rank, 30% chance to increase by two ranks, 5% chance to increase by three ranks. s. Maximum Promotion grade cannot exceed Mythical grade.
Talent Effect 2: Can designate a single item to directly break through three ranks. Cooldown: 72 hours. Maximum Promotion grade cannot exceed Mythical grade.
Talent Note: Mythical-grade talent, unique characteristic. Can only be used to promote single-item categories, limited to supplies, equipment, and blueprints.
"That's better, but still a 3-Day cool down. That sucks." Harry hummed. "Okay, did that upgrade recharge your uses?" Rabastan nodded. "That's good for everything else we find today. You can't use it on me again, and that's annoying. Can I get up?"
Rabastan shook his head and began pulling him again.
Harry couldn't feel his legs, and his arms were losing feeling as well. He spotted something.
"Hey, so you know I'm the Youngest Seeker in a Century?" Harry asked. He was annoyed when Rabastan shook his head. "Well, I am, and there's a supply crate 1 km ahead on the left."
They walked the 1 km and found the chest.
ERROR! ERROR! ERROR! ERROR!
BROKEN TALENTS! BROKEN TALENTS!
Rabastan spun to frown at Harry, who just whistled innocently while not making eye contact.
TALENT DRAW! TALENT DRAW!
DRAW TALENT!
"We already did...." Rabastan rasped.
"Don't argue with it. Draw again!" Harry snapped.
Rabastan tapped on his screen. Harry hissed and closed his eyes when his talent was drawn.
"I got Hint. The system gives me hints about the boxes." Rabastan explained. "Orange Rank."
"I got Radar Eyes." Harry informed, opening his eyes. "Orange Grade. It enhances my eyesight. I can see farther, locate chests easier, see dangers, locate rest stops, and players in our path. It's limited, and I don't know what all these symbols stand for." He looked at the box. "This is white for the most common supply crate. Got it."
Rabastan nodded. They all seemed to be good Talents. Three Mythicals. He looked at the chest, and his new ability triggered.
In this crate are x2 1L Bottles of Mineral Water and x2 Bread packs. No threat.
Rabastan touched the crate to open it. He picked up the items inside, looked at them, and then looked at Harry. He walked over to the now-adult man.
"I would just love to touch those and use my multiplier on them, but unless we have an Inventory space, we're not going to be able to transport them." Harry pointed out. "System, do we have an Inventory space?" A screen appeared in front of Harry with just five slots. "Five slots. What a rip-off." He looked at Rabastan. "I promise I won't do anything. Release my hands, will you? You have to release my hands to let me figure out how this works."
Rabastan was clearly not happy with this, but saw the wisdom in it. He released Harry's hands and squatted down to watch him carefully.
Harry took one bottle of water and one bread pack and put them in his Inventory without activating his power. He then touched the other water and bread while activating his power. He smirked when it worked.
"Yeah, it worked." Harry told the man and showed him his inventory. "See? I now have 1,001 Water and Bread in my inventory, and it stacks. That means that the same item doesn't take up more than one space; it appears in the same space. I wonder what the stack limit is." Harry pulled out a bottle of water and drank from it. "Okay, I'm going to give you 500 Bread and 500 Water. Store them in your Inventory. That's your share."
Rabastan frowned at Potter as they did this. He retied the hands, and they continued on. Potter could still drink from his water, so he was fine. He was confused, though. Why was Potter being so cooperative? How was he taking this so well? Why wasn't Potter trying to fight and escape? And how did Potter know so much about this place?
He wanted to find his father and brother. To find his Lord. He'd captured Potter. Surely his Lord would reward him for this. But then again, Potter was his partner in this place. He was confused, but surely his Lord would understand.
