Chapter Text

“Go have fun with your moon friends, Luna. I’ll be right here in my orbit,” Earth said as he tried to convince his moon for the millionth time that they should go and he’d be fine.

Luna looked at Earth with uncertainty. Worry and anxiety may be part of the reason, but it’s as if something bad were going to happen and Luna couldn’t help him.

“I’ll be fine, I promise. “Earth smiled as he swore to his moon that he’d be fine. He had gotten better at stabilizing his axis. Mars was coming by later and maybe the other rockies too, and Jupiter had held the asteroid belt a lot more securely today, so everything was supposed to go just fine.

Even though it was a little sad to see Luna leave, he was happy that Luna had made friends and wasn’t sitting around orbiting him all day.

In all honesty, it was nice talking to Luna, but his moon needed to hang around more celestial bodies than just him and the other rockies plus Phobos and Deimos.

Luna still looked a little unsure about leaving their planet. An alone Earth is never a good one. They had seen it firsthand multiple times. I mean, you can’t exactly blame them for worrying about their planet being alone. Especially for a specific period of time.

But this time, Earth does look fine and act fine. So he must be fine then. But that’s not always the case, since you can still feel bad on the inside and look fine on the outside.

Before, Luna spoke up again to voice their worries to their planet. Mars’s two little moons called out to them, drawing out their words and being ready for Luna to hurry on up.

“Come onnnn, Lunaaaa, we’re going to miss the meeeetingggg,” the two Martian moons whined loudly.

“Coming!” Luna yelled out, facing the two moons. “Hold your asteroids, geez,” mumbling to themselves.

Before Luna started to leave, they turned their face back to their planet and smiled. “I’ll be back later and please don’t do anything dumb.”

“Since you said that, I might just do it,” Earth said jokingly.

Luna narrowed their eyes and folded their arms angrily towards their planet.

Earth raised his hands and chuckled. “I’m joking. I’m joking. I won’t.” An angry Luna is never a good one. He remembers the last time he made Luna angry. It did not end well. Not at all.

“Good,” Luna said as they huffed angrily. Their sibling had better not! They don’t think their core could handle going through another life-saving mission.

“Lunaaaa!!!” The two Martian moons, now going from whining to screaming.

“If anything happens, get me or get any of the others to come get me, okay?” Luna said hastily to Earth.

“Alright, Luna,” Earth continued to smile and promised that he would. “I will. Now, shoo. Phobos and Deimos look like they’re a second away from losing it.”

“Bye Earth!” Luna said as they waved bye and rushed towards the two tiny moons so they could get a move on to the meeting.

“See you later, Luna,” Earth replied as he waved bye back.

After he watched the inner moon trio safely enter the asteroid belt, he yawned and thought to himself.

“I should probably take a slight nap before Mars comes by to hang out.”

His body felt oddly tired and heavy for some reason. Maybe the earthlings are doing something again.

Well, at least he doesn’t feel any pain like he usually does when they’re up to something on his surface.

So that’s a good thing, right? He’s honestly too tired to think about it right now. He’ll think about it later.

He then materialized a couple of his blankets that he had accumulated over a while, because why just have one blanket if you’re going to nap? A good nap always needs more than one blanket.

Earth then smiled to himself and stretched before he began to lie down in his orbit and started wrapping the blankets around himself.

It didn’t take long for another yawn to escape him.

“I must be more tired than I thought,” Earth mumbled to himself.

Before he closed his eyes and his body became too heavy to move, he pulled the blankets over his neck and moved his body into a curled like position. Luna wasn’t here to scold him about sleeping in that position. Who could honestly judge him? The curl position is comfortable.

He then took a long, deep sigh, and he finally drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

Hopefully, Mars doesn’t mind that I’ll sleep just a little bit longer than I’m supposed to.

When Mars finally came over to Earth’s orbit, he realized that Earth was nowhere to be found.

Well, except for a pile of blankets that took his best friend’s spot.

He thought that his best friend was maybe asleep, but that thought got ejected out of the solar system when he heard sounds and movement coming from said pile of blankets.

“Earth?” Mars called out to the moving lump of blankets. It was obvious that something or someone was underneath there, but it refused to acknowledge him.

“Earth, I know it’s you, man. Come on out,” Mars chuckled slightly.

He knew his best friend liked to joke around sometimes, or maybe he was just asleep and having dreams that caused him to not hear Mars.

If Earth were asleep, then he was thinking that he could just let him sleep as he sat by until he woke up, but something about the lump underneath the blankets looked off. It looks smaller, which was certainly odd.

Earth was taller and bigger than him, so there’s no reason for the lump to be that small.

The lump would be bigger instead, not small. It couldn’t be Luna. They left with his moons to their moon meeting earlier; he even watched them leave.

Believe it or not, it started to worry Mars a little.

Maybe he should check underneath the blanket in case of anything, you know.

One peak wouldn’t hurt. He’ll just gently pick up a piece of the blanket that covers Earth, check and see if he’s alright, and put it right back down.

Easy peasy!

“Just one peak and put the blanket back down gently,” Mars thought to himself as he started to do what he was thinking of.

As Mars pulled the blankets slightly up, he almost screamed in surprise when he noticed a baby planet took place instead of Earth.

Could this be Earth? It’s got to be!? This little one has Earth’s planetary symbol?? Mars inspected a tiny bit further and realized that it was indeed his friend! He noticed his friends’ markings anywhere!

He almost threw the blanket down in a panic, but shock took over instead, and he continued to stare at Earth, properly waking up now.

Earth rubbed their eyes and groggily looked around as if they were looking for someone.

What Mars didn’t realize was that Earth started to shake when he failed to find what he was looking for.

“…Earth?” Mars asked slowly as he was trying to make out what was happening. What is literally happening right now??? Why was his best friend a baby now???

Just before he was about to say anything else, little Earth started to make a high-pitched sound.

Before he even began to try to start to check on him, little Earth promptly began to burst into tears and wail. Ringing Mars’s ears in the process.

Oh, you have to be kidding me right now!

Despite his ears hurting, Mars began to go on instinct and pick up the wailing baby and hold him just like how he holds his small moons.

He then began to rock and sway little Earth, just like how he usually does for Phobos and Deimos. No luck.

“C’mon, man,” Mars mumbled as he steadily tried to soothe Earth’s loud wailing by rocking him.

He thought that it’d work since it always works with his moons when they’re upset about something.

But it wasn’t working at all. Earth just kept on wailing no matter how hard Mars tried to calm him down.

Earth clutched his little hands onto Mars’s shirt and smushed his head deeper into Mars’s shirt, but he was still crying everything out of him. How does he still have any water left? He’s been wailing for almost quite a while now; he’s got to stop and calm down sometime.

As Mars still continued in the futile mission of calming the baby down, he began to wonder if Venus had heard any of the wailing. Venus tends to have a radar when things go wrong or slightly off, and right now, it’s majorly off.

Speaking of the hothead, here he comes now, leaving his orbit to see what has been making his radar go off.

“What’s with all the noise, Mars? I know Earth can be loud sometimes, but not this loud. It’s ear-piercing!” Venus said in a gruff and annoyed manner. He then looked down at the source of the loud sound and screamed loudly.

“WHAT THE F-!”

Venus then looked away from the crying Earth and a stressed out looking Mars to yell for Mercury because there was no way that just he and Mars could handle this pure catastrophe.

“Mercury! Get your butt over here!”

“What?! What did you say, Venus?!” Mercury yelled back, not quite understanding what Venus was trying to yell at him.

“I said get your butt over here! Don’t make me come drag you!” Venus yelled again, now very agitated that he had to repeat himself.

“Okay, fine! I’m coming! Don’t be so rude!” Mercury shouted back as he started to make his way towards the two other rocky planets.

It didn’t take Mercury long to appear because what in the solar system would have gotten Venus this freaked out.

Now to see what his planet neighbor wanted. It better be good; he was actually content in his orbit at the moment.

“Geez, Venus, what’s going on that caused you to panic this bad?” Mercury asked once he finally made it to the two rockies.

He then finally looked at the baby that looked just like their friend, Earth, and finally connected the dots.

“WHAT!?” Mercury shrieked as he looked up at his friends’ panicked faces and then back down at the very obvious upset earth.

“How did this happen?!” Mercury pleaded to the two in hopes that they’d give him some sort of answer or explanation to make some sense of what was going on. At this point, who knows what goes on in their solar system.

“I don’t know!!” Mars cried out in a panic as he still tried to calm him down. “I came by his orbit to hang out, and then I found him like this!!”

Mercury pinched the bridge of his nose and massaged it.

“Okay,” he sighed. “Alright. I’m just not even going to question it.”

“You need help there, Mars?” Mercury added as he watched them.

Mars only gave him a deadpan expression, like Mercury should already know the answer to it.

“Alright.”

As Mars continued to try to calm little Earth down with the help of Mercury, Venus looked around because someone was clearly missing, and that said person being Earth’s moon, Luna.

Where was Luna?!

“Mars! Where’s Luna? Why are they not here?!” Venus demanded. Where was that moon of Earth’s.

“Luna went with Phobos and Deimos to their moon club meeting in the asteroid belt. They all won’t be back till later today,” Mars calmly stated as he still rocked Earth’s small body. Luckily, this time he had calmed down a little, and he was only crying this time.

"….shit,” Venus grumbled as he pushed his hair back to calm his nerves. Today’s definitely going to be a long day. He can feel it.

He was right because soon after that, Sun showed up.

The reason for that was because Sun noticed his rockies all huddled around each other, and they didn’t have any card games out like usual, but instead they were trying to do something.

He was curious as to what they were up to. When the rockies saw their star, they turned to face him.

They all looked as if they were a little nervous to show him something.

“What’s going on here?!” Sun questioned, his gaze wandering amongst the rockies. He knew that they tended to be rowdy, som-wait! Where’s Earth!?

Sun looked around for his planet of life, but he was nowhere to be found.

Where was that planet of his? There’s no way that they could’ve lost him! Earth’s his biggest rocky planet!

As he started looking around, he realized a crying baby was in Mars’s arms. Baby? Mars’s moons aren’t that young, and he doesn’t remember Mars gaining a new moon.

He clearly remembers not having a new planet either, so who is this baby?

Sun looked a bit closer and that the little colorful planet in front of him was indeed his missing planet of life.

“EARTH?!” Sun boomed loudly in surprise.

Earth then started to wail again after hearing Sun’s loud booming voice.

“Sun, too loud!” Mercury scolded with annoyance in his tone. He and the others just started to slightly calm him down, and Sun messed it up by being loud.

“Sorry!” Sun shrunk a little in embarrassment. He honestly didn’t mean to be that loud.

He looked to the remainder of his rockies, still steadily trying to calm Earth down, and he thought of something that might help them.

“Hand Earth over to me; I want to try something.”

Sun asked the rocky trio.

“What…?” Mars asked, puzzled that Sun doesn’t look angry or is even acting angrily. His star used to act irrationally in certain stressful situations.

Maybe he had changed a bit, but they still got to put into the equation that Sun’s temperature is extremely hot and he might accidentally hurt baby Earth in the process.

“You know what I said, Mars. I’d like to try something that might help,” Sun asked again, as he now gestured for Mars to hand the little planet over.

Mars looked to his star, not even looking a tad bit fazed at this point.

“Don’t worry, I turned my heat down, so he doesn’t get hurt, if that’s what you’re worried about. He’ll be okay,” Sun said, calming down Mars’s very frayed nerves.

Mars looked back down at Earth, still being fussy, and looked up at their star, patiently waiting for Mars to hand the baby over.

Once Mars had handed off babyfied Earth to a toned down Sun, he smiled and cooed at the sight of one of his planets being a baby again. But he can still feel himself stressing out because just how did this happen!?

He’s their star! How did this slip right underneath him, and how did this happen in the first place?!

Well, whatever for the time being, his first priority right now was to calm down a fussy Earth. The other priorities come later.

When he properly settled Earth in his arms, Sun’s core honestly broke when he started to hold his little planet and saw that his face was swollen and puffy with tear marks running down his cheeks.

His poor throat must be hurting after all the wailing he had done, but despite it hurting, his little planet still wailed his poor little core out. Poor little planet.

Sun then began to gently rock Earth’s small form, as he had done a million times for all of his planets when they were little. He doesn’t quite remember him being this little. Not this baby, like, but baby is still baby.

Thankfully, he still remembered how to calm his little planet of life down.

For Earth, he had begun to gently pat and rub circles on his back. He remembered that it was like a pattern; he had to alternate between the two.

After alternating between each motion, like that pattern that he had remembered, Earth’s little core-stabbing wails began to slow down and finally turned into hiccups and soft little sniffles.

Thankfully, it still works after all this time. Sun’s still got it in him!

When Earth finally opened his eyes after crying for so long, Sun beamed down on him. “There you go, little one.”

Despite opening his eyes, Earth still masked a frown on his face. Well, that frown will surely be turned upside down soon!

“Your sunny is here, so why the gloomy face, huh?” Sun asked his little planet playfully. “Do you not like the sun pun? I thought it was quite bright.”

Earth finally giggled, but not because of the pun, but because of Sun’s face instead. Little Earth found it funny.

“Are you laughing at my face?” Sun playfully teased the little one. “Normally, I would scold the others if they laugh at me, but for you I’ll make an exception. This time,” Sun smiled when he made Earth giggle again.

While the others watched, Earth seemingly now content with Sun, they talked amongst each other without a screaming baby in their ear.

“Well, at least that solves one of our problems,” Mars stated.

“Yeah, for now,” Venus replied gruffly, with his arms crossed.

“But we’ll also have to find a way to revert him back too, you know?” Mercury replied to the two as he still continued to keep his gaze on the little planet and their star.

The other two rockies nodded in agreement at Mercury’s statement. Mercury was right; they need to find a way to change their friend back, but right now they should try to keep their friend happy so their ears don’t burst again.

As Sun thought that everything seemed to be okay, right now with Earth finally being calm, something felt extremely off.

It felt like someone was missing. A certain moon was missing. Earth’s moon! Luna! Luna isn’t here! Luna would normally be by Earth’s side?!

“Where’s Luna?” Sun questioned with a hint of worry in his tone after he saw that Earth’s moon was nowhere to be found. Did something happen to Luna as well? If so, then they might have another baby on their hands.

Maybe alone? Hurt? Scared? Crying? Who knows, but they need to find them if something did happen to them.

“They’re with Phobos and Deimos at the moon meeting right now,” Mars spoke up and answered his star. “If something did happen to Luna, my two moons would tell me, if that’s what you’re wondering.”

“Hmmm, okay. If you say so,” Sun replied with a light smile. But if you looked right into his eyes, you could see that there was still a bit of worry in them. How could Sun not worry?

The others knew that Sun was worried too, but asking their star would just be met with an “I’m fine” from him.

If Sun wanted to talk about it, then he’d talk about it. They all knew not to really push it.

But despite everything, at the moment everything seemed to be fine for right now in the inner solar system; the three rockies were discussing things amongst each other to see how they could fix their friend while Sun was keeping Earth company and playing with him.

With Sun’s sunny personality, it didn’t take him long for him to get out a couple of giggles and squeals from his little planet of life. Sun couldn’t help smiling again at the sight of his planet being so happy around him.

Sadly, the peace didn’t last when they all started hearing sounds coming from the asteroid belt, and Earth started to whimper again.

Sun started to pat and rub his back, but this notion only caused him to whimper even more. He started to become restless and looked around as if he were looking for someone again.

There could be a possibility that he had felt Luna’s gravity tugging at him bit by bit. It was something that Earth was missing. Something that he wanted, like it was a missing puzzle piece in his core that only fits in his puzzle. Someone he wanted.

He felt Luna. He wanted his sibling, his moon, but Luna still wasn’t here, and it made him cry even more. He wanted Luna!

His cries began to turn into wails again, and he started to become even more restless as he untucked his hands from his body and he instinctively reached out for Luna. His moon. His sibling.

No matter how much Sun and the rest of the others tried to stop Earth from wailing. He just wouldn’t stop.

Sun’s warm comfort and sunny smiles were hardly making a dent on Earth’s emotional state right now.

“We’re going to have to get Luna; this is taking way too long,” Venus said, feigning calmness, but you could clearly see the veins popping over his head by the minute.

“But isn’t Luna still at their moon club meeting? We can’t just barge into the asteroid belt, demanding for Luna and be like, “Hey! We know you’re having fun and all, but we need your help with taking care of a baby!” “ Mercury tried explaining to Venus, but the looks of it, it just made Venus madder.

“Mercury! Do you think any of us could handle any more wails from him? I’m about to lose it here! He’s clearly not crying himself out! Luna could probably be the best chance we’ve got right now!” Venus, resorting to now shouting as he was clearly getting mad.

“And what makes you think that Luna could calm Earth down, huh?! No offense to Luna, but if Sun couldn’t calm him down, what makes you think Luna could do it?! Or even Jupiter or Saturn?! We might be already screwed at this point, Venus!” Mercury shouted back.

“What is going on here?” Luna said to themself as they started coming back to their orbit and saw all the rockies and Sun huddled around each other clear as day, panicking and shouting about something.

Wait! They’re all in Earth and their orbit!? Oh no, please tell me Earth didn’t do something stupid or get hurt from something while they were gone!

As they got a little closer, they realized that they were hearing a lot of wailing, like a baby that was wailing. Which was weird because Luna would know if another moon had formed or been born in their orbit, and their planet was an adult, the last time that they remembered.

So why were they hearing a baby wail in the first place?

They soon come to find their answer when they saw a presumed Earth as a baby wailing in Sun’s arms.

“What is- how-WHAT? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!” Luna cried out loudly, clearly showing signs that they were clearly panicking at the sight of their planet being small, wailing his little core out and reaching out for them.

Earth was clearly fine when they left to go to their moon meeting earlier.

Earth was an adult when Luna left, so how are they basically a baby now?!

It didn’t make any sense, and Luna was definitely panicking. Did they miss any signs before they left?! But no way that they couldn’t! They’ve always been so observant!

“Luna, you need to breathe,” Sun exclaimed, clearly seeing that Luna was close to having a panic attack.

Great observation, Sun! They know that they’re freaking out and hardly breathing! But who needs to breathe, anyway? They’re in space for everything sake!

But now’s not the time to panic, Luna. Your planet needs you. Now, more than ever!

Remember, panic last, baby first. You can panic after you get him to calm down and stop crying.

Luna took a deep breath to settle themselves and finally held out their arms for Sun to hand them Earth.

Sun, despite not wanting to, still handed an upset Earth off to Luna.

With shaky arms, Luna carefully settled their now baby sibling, Earth, and inspected him as he continued crying. Just how long had he been crying!? Their brother’s voice sounded absolutely horrible, and he still cried for them!

Luna honestly didn’t know what to do. They never handled babies before!

They then began to remember that when they used to watch Earth’s surface during the nighttime, they saw parents, whether they’d be an animal or not, comfort their young. Earth may be their brother, but they still have to give it a try. They got to try something!

They followed what they remembered on Earth’s surface in the nighttime and began to hum and gently sway their body left and right to soothe him down. Luckily, it’s working because Earth just wanted Luna. He just wanted his sibling.

Earth didn’t try to fight or cry harder, but he still held onto Luna like a lifeline. Like he was scared that Luna was going to leave and never come back.

They still continued to copy the movement that they were just doing until Earth hardly cried at all, just sniffles and the occasional coo from him.

Finally, Earth seems to be content now. For their first time comforting a baby, they did pretty well. If they do say so themselves.

Luna looked back down again at Earth’s small frame and saw that his planet’s eyes were growing extremely heavy and his grip on Luna started to loosen on them. Luna only held him tighter, causing another happy and content coo to come out of him.

They continued to watch him as he fell asleep in their arms and nuzzled closer to them, causing Luna to smile a little, seeing that their sibling was all happy and comfortable in their embrace.

Once they looked back up, they saw the others stare in shock and disbelief.

“…what?” Luna asked confusedly as to why the others were staring at them.

Mars spoke up first. “I did the same exact thing that you’re doing, and he still cried!” Then he pointed to Sun. “He did the same thing too,” and finally pointed to Mercury and Venus. “Those two tried also and had no luck either!”

“So how did you do it so effortlessly, Luna?” Mars added, still in disbelief that he and the others tried so hard, but Luna did with absolute ease.

Luna thought for a second, then looked back down to their little sized planet of life with his head laid on their shoulder, who looked to be finally asleep, and with a small smile tugging on their lips with maybe a hint of smugness, they said. “I guess that he just wanted me and no one else, or well, not seeing me caused him to panic. I think.”

“I told you, Mercury. I told you that we should’ve gotten them in the first place.” Venus argued, his temper flaring up again. They wouldn’t have had to go through all of that if they had gotten Luna in the first place. “But nooo, you didn’t want to listen, did you?”

“Now, look here, Venus! Luna was busy! You and I both know that! We both didn’t know that Earth just wanted Luna!” Mercury argued right back, clearly getting annoyed that Venus is picking a fight with him again.

They both continued arguing back and forth as Mars, Luna, and Sun watched them. What they didn’t know was that baby Earth was right there watching the two of them get angrier and angrier by the minute.

Earth pushed his head deeper into Luna’s chest and stirred as he whimpered at the sound of the two rocky planets arguing and arguing quite loudly at that.

Luna shushed and rocked Earth while they also tried to use their other hand to cover their planet’s ears to block out as much sound as they could so Earth wouldn’t cry again. They just got their planet to calm down after crying for so long. They really don’t want Earth to cry again because of the two idiots that were fighting.

Before Sun could say anything, Mars spoke up instead, and being done with the two idiots’ fight, he shouted at the two. “Alright, you two, that’s enough! Picking fights and getting angry at each other won’t solve anything. The only thing that you two are doing right now is ruining Luna’s hard work at having Earth be calm.”

The two both looked back at Earth, his face smooshed into Luna’s chest, whimpering as his moon’s hands were covering Earth’s ears and looking at the two idiots with absolutely zero patience and possible murder.

They immediately stopped and felt guilty that they made Earth upset.

“Sorry, Venus,” Mercury mumbled, looking away from the hot-headed planet.

“…Sorry, Mercury,” Venus hesitantly mumbled, as he really didn’t want to apologize for something he felt was right at the time but was still wrong, regardless.

“Sorry, Luna,” the two both apologized together towards the moon.

Luna lightly sighed a little. “I forgive you; just please don’t argue around him when he’s like this.”

The two scolded culprits nodded, rubbed their heads sheepishly, and both refused to utter a word after both Luna and Mars got after them. They’re lucky that Sun wasn’t the one who scolded them this time.

Sun continued to look at the sibling duo. Even though seeing Earth as a baby again was adorable, he would rather like to see Earth as an adult again. He doesn’t think he could handle having another baby planet again. Stress might kill him or turn him into a red giant early, and he really doesn’t want that to happen.

Luna? Sun calmly asked for them.

“Yes, Sun?” Luna replied, wondering what Sun would need. Maybe he would want to hold Earth again. But he didn’t have his arms out, so I guess it’s plausible that he maybe just wants to talk instead.

“Do you know what could’ve caused this phenomenon?” Sun peacefully inquired.

Luna shook their head. “No, Earth was fine before I left. He didn’t say anything out of the ordinary, from what I remember.”

Sun hummed as his answer. “I guess that Earth may only know what happened. We’ll just have to keep an eye on him and keep him comfortable and safe in the meantime.”

Luna felt their core just shatter a little. Was Earth lying to them earlier and aware of what was happening? There’s just no way that Earth would lie to them like that. Earth would’ve told them, right?... Right?

“Can I count on you all to help out? Sun asked the rest of the rockies. He knows that he wouldn’t have to ask Luna to help. Luna would do anything to help or make anything better.

The remainder of the rockies nodded. Of course, they’d help; Earth was their friend. They’d help out with whatever they could.

“Good.” Sun sighed a little and then smiled. “I can imagine that little Earth here must be tired, and Luna must need some time to properly process everything. Can you all head back to your orbits?”

Feeling what Sun said was reasonable, they all started heading back to their orbits. Except for one rocky planet.

The others went back to their proper orbits but still looked over once in a while to check on Earth and Luna. Sun still checked on them in case they needed anything.

While the others left, Mars decided to stay around to chat with Luna and see how they’re holding up. Finding out your planet is in a more fragile state will surely take a toll on the stress factor. He knows for a fact that Luna’s surely stressed and maybe blaming themselves for this predicament.

He sat next to Luna in silence until they wanted to talk or until they asked for it. If not, he could just sit and offer his comfort in silence. He wouldn’t mind either way. As long as it could make Luna feel better.

While Luna still held his little planet in his arms, they absentmindedly rubbed circles in Earth’s back as they were deep in thought. Unfortunately, this time, this deep in thought was not a happy one, considering that their brows were furrowed and their face looked as if they were clearly upset.

“He promised me that he was fine,” Luna mumbled under their breath.

“What? Luna? Did you say something?” Mars asked because Luna was mumbling and he couldn’t hear what they had just said.

“Earth promised and swore to me that he was fine before I left.” Their voice, now wavering, as they started to feel their eyes suddenly sting with oncoming tears.

“Now, I don’t even know if he lied to me. We told each other, No more secrets. If he was in pain or if something was going wrong, he should’ve told me instead of keeping it away from me. He knows this, Mars. I’m their sibling! His moon!” Luna said a little louder, with tears now falling down their face.

They looked down at the little planet after realizing that they might’ve been a little too loud. They forced themselves to tone down their cries so they wouldn’t wake Earth up.

“I-I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to help or even fix this. Did I do something wrong? Did this happen because I wasn’t with him?” Luna cried more quietly, with tears still falling down their face, and clearly blaming themself.

Yep, Mars was right; Luna was definitely stressed out.

Mars turned to his side where Luna was, and with a light smile, he gently put one of his hands on Luna’s shoulder.

“Please don’t blame yourself, Luna. We’ll figure this out and find a way to bring him back to normal. Besides, you also got all of us to rely on. I know that Jupiter would be happy to help!” Mars smiled with pure determination in his core.

“What about Venus? He doesn’t seem too happy. In fact, he looks angrier than he usually does,” Luna asked worriedly.

“Venus..he-“ Mars pondered as he tried to formulate what he wanted to say, then he saw Venus taking a quick peek in their direction and quickly looked away.

“If he didn’t want to help or care, he wouldn’t take a glance over here every couple or so minutes,” Mars teasingly smirked because he knew he was right. Venus definitely wanted to help, but he was horrible at properly showing his emotions. He should probably work on that sometime, though.

“Yeah, that sounds about right,” Luna chuckled after they sniffled and wiped away their tears.

Seeing that Luna was fine now, Mars patted Luna’s shoulder and put his hand back to his side.

Mars checked over to his orbit and saw that his moons were totally asleep; he figured that he should probably head back to his orbit since it does seem to be kind of late.

“I should head back to my orbit now,” Mars said as he started getting up. “Get some rest, alright? If you need help with anything, one of us will be standing by.”

“Thanks, Mars,” Luna thanked as they started to feel a little better after talking it out with Mars.

“Anytime, Luna.” Mars smiled back and waved as he went back to his orbit to rest, but still looked as if he were ready for Luna to say the word and he’d be right there helping them with Earth.

Luna sighed and waved back as they looked down at little Earth again. Content, curled up and still, was once again blissfully asleep.

“Maybe Mars was right; I probably should go rest,” Luna said to themselves. I mean, they did start to feel their body and eyes grow heavier. Even a yawn slipped past them.

But before Luna started to cross into the land of slumber, they adjusted their hold on Earth and wrapped themselves around him a bit more protectively so he wouldn’t get hurt or who knows what else would happen. They’re not taking any more chances after what happened today.

Little Earth cooed in his sleep as they felt Luna’s arms embrace him lovingly and protectively.

Nothing could make him sad or hurt as long as Luna was around.

Luna would definitely make sure of that.

Always.
