What if, Venus never told Luna to be a moon, so they became a planet instead?

Summary:

Luna ignores the part of them convincing them to become a moon, and Venus never told Luna to go orbit that planet & be a moon or "something".

.

*Luna looked on in confusion, before muttering;* "Where . . . did he go?"

"You don't . . . remember anything?" *Venus asked, eyes narrowed.*

"Rememer what?" *Luna asked, confusion rising in their voice. Their wings flapped gently.*

"Does the name . . .  Theia, mean anything to you?" *He mumbled, unwilling to speak any louder as to not attract unwanted attention.*

"Nooope?" *They elongated the no, making their ignorance obvious.*

"Oh. Okay."

"Wait! What am I supposed to-" *They started, before being interrupted by Venus.*

"Just . . . Go near that planet over there, and be a planet, like them. Or something. Ugh. I don't know." *He grumbled. Luna nodded shyly, floating towards the ball of magma.*

Chapter 1: In the beginning.

Summary:

Originally, Venus told the newly formed Luna to go back to that planet over there, and be a moon. But what if he'd never said that to Luna?

.

*Her features became clear, she was a deep red colour, and much larger than Luna, for one. She wore a simple white dress, but no shoes or bold accessories, similarly to Luna. They assumed that everyone who just formed looked like this. Her head had a pair of white wings on either side, matching Luna's. The planet looked around in confusion, before her eyes landed on Luna.*

*Her wings fluttered to life.* "Uh, hey little one . . . Why is everyone staring at me?" *She tilted her head at the smallest planet.*

"I was kinda hoping you would tell me . . . " *Luna mumbled shyly, looking at their feet.*

"Me? Why would I know?" *She questioned, her tone seeming more concerned than confused.*

"I guess, because  . . . We're both planets, and we came from the same thing?" *They said, though it seemed like they were asking more than they were telling anyone. Luna's wings moved from their position partially covering their face.*

"Huh. If you say so!" *She grinned at the smallest planet, wings flapping eagerly.*

Notes:

you've gotta hear me out on this what if ok?

Chapter Text

[LUNA POV:]

*Luna's mind woke up before their body did. They felt their core beating loudly and quickly, as if they were scared, and to be honest they were scared. They yawned and stretched, with the little strength they gained, despite having just woken up. They blinked warily, looking up as the world they were born into came to life. It was mostly silent, other than the humble chatter from far away, the burning sounds of a star, and the occasional page turning. They looked down at themselves, they wore a white dress of sorts, and no shoes. At the sides of their head, they felt a pair of wings flutter, as if they were conscious. Or maybe, they just reflected Luna's emotions. Their eyes suddenly focused on something, or someone, in front racing towards them at full speed, it's surface scorched and magma covered, most likely from close proximity to a star.*

"Theia could still-" *The planet's voice became clear, it was yelling something about a 'Theia'.        . . . What's a 'Theia?' . . . That name made them feel weird. Like they weren't supposed to know about this person. Like they shouldn't know Theia- Their head throbbed painfully.*

*Everything in their mind screamed danger . . . The feathers of their wings stood up, likely sensing the situation. Luna whipped around as fast as they could and bolted away.*

"HEY, WAIT! HOLD ON, PLEASE! HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! I JUST WANT TO CHECK IF YOU'RE-" *The planet yelled frantically, still chasing closely after them.*

"STAY AWAY!" *They managed to scream, this being the first time they spoke since their creation.  . . . Why is their voice so high? They interrupted the scary planet before they could say that even scarier name again. Why did it hurt?*

"Theia? . . . MARS! WATCH OUT!!!" *Luna heard the celestial body yell. They didn't care. They had to run. They rushed past the second celestial body.*

"What is it Venus?—WOAH!" *The smaller one responded, before using it's gravity to pull Luna back. They struggled against the gravity, before being pulled to face the pair.*

"Can you STOP MOVING FOR ONE SECO-" *Venus started, being interrupted by the second celestial body shortly after.*

"VENUS!"

"Ahem. We will not hurt you, little one." *The smaller of the two said gently.*

"That one tried to capture me!" *Luna squeaked in fear, their wings covering as much of their face as they could.*

"Capture you?! I JUST WANTED TO-" *The aggressive planet continued, before being interrupted again. That seemed to be a common thing here, huh?*

"It's okay! Venus didn't mean to. Now, where did you come from?" *He spoke softly, crouching down to the little planets level. Luna, in response, looked towards the glowing ball of magma where they woke up.*

"Wait. . . You're...?! So that means?!" *Mars yelled, Luna flinched at the sudden increase of volume. Venus nodded to Mars solemnly*

"What? I don't get i-" *They started, before being interrupted by Mars exclaiming;*

"I'VE GOTTA TELL EVERYONE!!!!" *He bolted off towards a bigger planet.*

*Luna looked on in confusion, before muttering;* "Where . . . did he go?"

"You don't . . . remember anything?" *Venus asked, eyes narrowed.*

"Remember what?" *Luna asked, confusion rising in their voice. Their wings flapped gently.*

"Does the name . . .  Theia, mean anything to you?" *He mumbled, unwilling to speak any louder as to not attract unwanted attention.*

"  . . . " *Luna's head began pounding much too loud once again. Whispers crept to the front of their mind.*

*Theia.*

*Theia.*

*Life.*

*Life.*

*Life.*

*BECAME ONE.*

"Uhm, nope?" *They lied, digging their nails into their skin to bring themself back to reality.*

"Oh. Okay."

"Wait! What am I supposed to-" *They started, before being interrupted by Venus.*

"Just . . . Go near that planet over there, and be a planet, like them. Or something. Ugh. I don't know." *He grumbled. Luna nodded shyly, floating towards the ball of magma.*

.

.

.

"Hellooo? Are you also . . . awake? . . . Come on, say something . . . " *Luna circled around the ball of lava, stepping up close to the planet in the hopes to hear them say something.*

"Hi!"

"Did you . . . say something?" *They asked, their eyes twinkling in excitement.*

"Yep. I said hi!" *A loud voice boomed. Luna quickly realized it came from behind them and turned around. They were met with a massive planet, looking down at them.*

"AAAAAHHHHH!" *Luna squealed, arms and wings raised in horror.*

"I know, I'm huge. No need to panic, lil' buddy." *He crouched to the floor, alongside Mars who was looking down to the little planet as well.*

"See?! I told you Jupes!!!" *Mars yelled eagerly, eyes wide.*

"Yeah  . . . I still can't believe it." *Jupiter mumbled under his breath, before seemingly getting an idea.*

"Hey Saturn! Check this out!" *The largest planet called out across a belt of rocks, to an equally large planet. Luna swallowed the lump in their throat.*

"No way! Is this the celestial body that came from the collision?" *Saturn's eyes glimmered in suprise, a wide grin breaking out across his face.*

"Yep! Hey little one, do you have a name?" *Jupiter cooed to the small planet.*

"Well, I-I guess you could call me Lu-" *They started, pressing the tips of their index fingers together, before being interrupted by the entrance of planets they didn't recognize.*

"Come on mates, no one told us it woke up!" *A pale blue, massive planet yelled in frustration, yet there was a hint of excitement.*

"Come on everyone, give the ball of lava some space." *A deeper blue, just as big planet stated rather nervously.*

"But we're in space!" *A planet much tinier than whatever Luna was squeaked.*

"Huh! Okay, you've got a point Pluto." *The icy looking planet responded sweetly.*

*Luna pouted, avoiding everyone's gaze.*

.

.

.

*Luna felt their breath hitch slightly at the sudden presence of multiple, massive planets. How many were there?! Just around them right now, there were seven celestial bodies, and they still hadn't seen the one from earlier. Their wings reached up to shield their eyes from all the attention on them. However, they didn't get to do much of that before noticing Venus floating towards the group. They sighed in relief, flying over to hide behind Venus.*

"Woah! Wh-What?!"

"I-I did what you told me, b-but . . . there's so many of them!" *Luna trembled behind the tsundere planet.  . . . What's a tsundere? Everyone else looked rather . . . guilty towards the newest planet.*

"Guys, maybe we should take a step back." *Mars muttered.*

"Oh yeah, sure thing." *Pluto smiled awkwardly.*

"Alright." *Saturn muttered.*

"Uh huh!" *Neptune grinned.*

"Yeah . . . " *Jupiter mumbled.*

"Okay, Mars . . . " *Uranus called back.*

*Their voices overlapped with each other, although they seemed to be in agreement. One by one, they all turned to leave, back to their orbits.*

.

.

.

*Their exits were interrupted by a yawn coming from the burning ball of lava.*

*Their yells of surprise all merged into one that sounded something like;*

"IT'S AWAKE!"

*Every planet, with the exception of Mercury, Venus and Luna, rushed towards the silhouette that slowly started to take shape.*

"HEY!" *Venus yelled, fury rising in his voice.*

"DO YOU WANT ANOTHER COLLISION?! STEP. BACK!" *The second he finished his sentence, a bright glow was emitted from the result of the collision. Her features became clear, she was a deep red colour, and much larger than Luna, for one. She wore a simple white dress, but no shoes or bold accessories, similarly to the first-emerging sibling. Luna assumed that everyone who just formed looked like this. Her head had a pair of white wings on either side, matching Luna's. Her hair was a brighter red, cracks visible across it. It stopped at around her shoulders, giving herself a neat bob. The planet looked around in confusion, before her eyes landed on Luna.*

*Her wings fluttered to life.* "Uh, hey little one . . . Why is everyone staring at me?" *She tilted her head at the smaller planet.*

"I was kinda hoping you would tell me . . . " *Luna mumbled shyly, looking at their feet.*

"Me? Why would I know?" *She questioned, her tone seeming more concerned than confused.*

*Because, your my planet. And I'm your moon. This is it. This is how we bring life into the universe. A voice hissed in the back of their mind, sending shivers down Luna's spine. They shook it off, looking back at their sister.*

"I guess, because  . . . We're both planets, and we came from the same thing?" *They said, though it seemed like they were asking more than they were telling anyone. Luna's wings moved from their position partially covering their face.*

"Huh. If you say so!" *She grinned at the smaller planet, wings flapping eagerly.*

"How do they know these things? They were just born!" *Jupiter quipped back, crossing his arms.*

"Maybe they heard us all these years? Or maybe  . . . " *Saturn responded, being interrupted by Venus at the end of his sentence.*

"MAYBE THEY REMEMBER SOMETHING!" *He exclaimed, rushing towards the newly formed planet and moving to face them, in the process pushing Luna away from the group.*

*They stumbled back, squeaking in suprise and landing on Mars, causing them both to fall to the floor.*

"Woah! You good, little buddy?" *Mars called up to the smallest planet, who lay practically on top of him. They squealed, jumping off of Mars as fast as possible. Mars stood up and dusted himself off, extending a hand to help Luna stand up, which they took quickly.*

"Hey, hey! It's alright. It was Venus' fault anyway." *He scoffed, letting go of Luna's hand and glaring at the planet currently interrogating the other sibling.*

"Uh . . . Te-. . . T-T-T . . . " *She stammered, deep in thought.*

"YES . . ! "

"Terra?" *She seemed to have been deep in thought before saying this.*

"Wait what?"

"Oh, are we doing names now?" *Luna whispered curiously under their breath.*

"Terra means Earth, Venus." *Jupiter responded in a matter-of-fact tone.*

"EARTH?!" *Venus shrieked.*

"Earth! Heh! I like the sound of that." *Luna spoke up, wings raised up in excitement.*

"NO! Come on, you must have some of her left in you!" *He screamed, moving closer towards the Earth.*

"Hey, back off!" *She exclaimed in suprise, shoving the aggressive planet away from her.*

"Venus, come on, she's gone." *Mercury said, hoping to sound reassuring.*

"NO! I saw both of them, they fused, or something! A-and now she-!"

"She's gone, Venus." *Mars stated coldly, his arms crossed.*

*Venus looked around at the rest of the celestial bodies, only to receive silence.*

"Okay, can someone please explain who we are talking about?"

"It doesn't matter."

"Come on, don't keep me in the dark!" *She exclaimed, grinning at everyone else. Her smile faltered when Venus suddenly exploded.*

"IT DOESN'T MATTER!! YOU'RE NOT THEIA, AND YOU'LL NEVER- . . . Uh . . . Earth?"

*Her expression was a mix of horror and confusion, that seemed to flicker rapidly like she was a malfunctioning robot.  . . . What is a robot anyway? Luna felt the same, however, not as intense as this. They looked down at their feet, inhaling deeply and rather harshly.*

"Is she okay?" *Mercury asked, concern evident in his voice.*

"I think you broke her." *Mars glanced at the Earth, stepping up to Venus' side after Mercury.*

"Me? I just said Theia's name and she—"

"AAAGH!" *She screamed, obviously in distress, hyperventilating and pulling at her hair, before looking around frantically and running off towards the asteroid belt.*

*Luna watched in horror as Mars and Venus ran after the Earth. Or maybe it was the horror of hearing her name. Saturn looked down at the tiny celestial body, who had started crying softly, but loud enough for the others to hear.*

"It's okay little one! The Earth will be okay." *Saturn reassured Luna gently. Jupiter nodded along.*

"Yep! I trust Mars to make sure she's okay." *Jupiter added. A small smile broke out across Luna's face, nodding to the largest planets as they turned to follow after Mars and Venus.*

.

.

.

"EAAAAARRRRRTTTHHH!" *They exclaimed in alarm, joining the trio.*

"Hey! What's up, uh . . . you." *The Earth smiled awkwardly.*

"Don't leave me alone again, p-please!" *They sobbed lightly.*

"Alright, I won't! We can . . . stay together." *A smile was quickly plastered across the Earth's face.*

"Promise . . ?" *Luna muttered, wiping the tears from their eyes.*

"Yes, I promise." *The Earth said calmly, wings fluttering. She watched as Mars and Venus turned around to have a conversation.*

"Why don't they include us too?" *Luna mumbled under their breath. The Earth heard, glancing around for a moment before her eyes landed on an asteroid. She picked it up and flung it towards the pair. It ended up hitting Mars.*

"HAH! THAT was funny!" *She grinned, looking down to Luna before looking back to Mars.*

"Oh, you're laughing?!" *He questioned, his smile only growing. Mars grabbed the nearest asteroid, throwing it towards the Earth. Luna panicked, stepping in front of her to block the asteroid. They winced in pain. Earth placed a hand in front of Luna protectively.*

"Move aside, I got this! HYAH!" *She exclaimed, throwing asteroid after asteroid.*

"WOAH! DODGE THIS!"

"OW!" *She yelped as it hit her.*

"HAHAHAHAH!" *He cackled, smirking at the Earth.*

"HYAH! Look out~!" *The Earth mocked smugly.*

"You're so bad at this!" *Mars rolled his eyes, hoarding asteroids in his pockets.*

"Oh, you wanna play games, huh? Let's play some games!"

"Yeah! As long as you promise to get better at the ga- ACK!" *He grunted.*

"I was just born! What's YOUR excuse?" *She grinned, receiving an eager fist bump from Luna, whatever that was.*

.

.

.

*The game went on for a few hours, before Jupiter approached the asteroid belt.*

"Oh, hey little ones! I'm gonna have to borrow the Earth and uh, the other one?" *Jupiter spoke calmly, crouching down once more to reach their level.*

"It's L-" *They started, before Mars interjected.*

"What for, Jupes?" *He questioned.*

"I've gotta take them to meet the Sun." *He scratched the back of his neck nervously.*

"Who's the Sun?" *The Earth questioned, her confusion matching that of Luna's.*

"Just. . . Come along you two!" *He beckoned, waving them over and beginning to walk away.*

*The pair glanced at each other nervously, before taking each others hand and following Jupiter towards this 'Sun'.*

.

.

.

[SUN POV:]

"So, you wanted to show me something, Jupiter?" *He raised an eyebrow to the largest planet, who was seemingly hiding something behind his back.*

"Yeah. . . Uhm, you remember the collisi-"

"DON'T. Don't mention that again." *He grumbled, the heat in the surrounding area increasing to concerning levels.*

*Jupiter swallowing a hard lump in his throat.*

"Well, from that, came two celestial bodies." *He muttered, stepping to the side to reveal the Earth and Luna.*

" . . . H-hi. . . " *The small planet quivered at the Star's divine light, hiding behind the larger one, who seemed speechless staring at the ball of flames. Although Sol was small on the scale of Stars, to a tiny planet where you're the biggest thing they've ever seen in their few minutes of living? You would be the biggest thing in the entire universe.*

"Oh. My. Stars." *The star muttered under his breath, taking in the features of both celestial bodies. Both planets wore a white dress, and no shoes. The smaller planet had medium length, dark grey hair, and a lava covered surface. They closely resembled a woman, and honestly, their voice didn't say otherwise. The larger planet had shorter, bright red hair, down to around her shoulders, and a deep, red surface. This one was a woman, he could say that with certainty. He cleared his throat before continuing.*

"Do you guys . . . know your names?" *The star questioned curiously, trying to calm his tone of voice as to not frighten the little planets. The larger of the two, spoke first.*

"Hi! My names Terra!!! The big planet told me it means Earth." *She spoke, her voice was sweet, and of medium pitch. which reminded Sol of Theia's voice. Her wings flapped quickly, showing her happiness. The second, smaller celestial body cleared their throat before speaking.*

" . . . I'm Luna." *Their voice was calm, and high pitched. Also, quite squeaky, unlike Theia or Proto. Their wings covered their face slightly, because Luna seemed to prepare for something that never came, much to the Star's confusion.*

"Oh, no one interrupted this time." *They spoke, a hint of sweet, sweet victory in their voice.*

"Who are you?" *The Earth raised her hand to ask, her wings shifting gently, brushing against her face.*

*He grinned confidently, before yelling so that not just the two could hear him.*

"I AM HELIOS, RA, APOLLO THE INTI!" *The Sun yelled, his natural, high voice dropping a few pitches. The two planets winced at the volumes his voice could reach. The Sun cleared his throat before continuing, his voice returning it's usual squeak.*

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Earth and Luna! You two are the newest Rocky planets in my Solar system." *He exclaimed eagerly.*

"Rocky Planets?" *Luna tilted their head curiously.*

"Mars over there, the red planet, can show you to your new orbits!" *Sol ignored the smallest Rocky planet's question and pointed towards Mars, who looked up at the mention of his name. He smiled knowingly, floating towards the group.*

"I thought I was the red planet?" *Earth pouted, causing Luna to giggle behind their hand.*

"Okay, so Mars, the Earth will orbit there, and Luna there!" *The Sun instructed as he pointed to two orbits that were . . .*

very.

very.

very.

VERY.

far apart.

*In his defense, it was completely unintentional. They were still in the inner-solar system together! Just a little . . . seperated.*

*Both of their wings drooped down instantly, horror spreading across the face. The Earth whined, clinging to her older sibling, who hugged her side fearfully.*

*The Sun tilted his head at the two of them.*

"Uhm, I don't think they want to be away from each other, Sun. You should've seen how they reacted earlier when they were apart for like . . . 1 minute. On Jupiter." *Mars deadpanned, looking at the siblings sympathetically. Sun raised an eyebrow.*

"Maybe they could be a double pla-"

"NO!" *He yelled, his surface flaring up. He knew what happened last time a double planet existed. He and Mars BOTH knew. He and EVERYONE knew. Proto and Theia knew.*

*The two planets flinched, to which the younger sibling burst into tears. The older, smaller sibling panicked, joining the Earth in crying for no obvious reason.*

*Sun grumbled, pinching the bridge of his nose and massaging it.* "FINE- finefinefinefine. Just- don't start crying." *He looked back down at the pair whose smiles quickly returned to their faces. Earth and Luna grinned, squealing eagerly and running to hug the Sun's ankles. The Sun's expression softened as he looked down at his newest and quite frankly, inseparable planets. Luna pressed their body against the Sun's leg, before retracting at the sheer heat of the Sun's surface.*

"AH- hothothot!" *Luna whined, rubbing their face gently. Their wings tensed in pain. The Earth patted their head sweetly, dragging them off to the first orbit the Sun had mentioned, Proto and Theia's orbit the 'Goldilocks Zone'. Why is it called that, you ask? We haven't got a clue.*

.

.

.

"Everyone, in case you haven't met them, this is Earth, and this is T- LUNA!" *The Sun grinned, pointing to the celestial body the title corresponded to.*

*The rest of the planets marvelled at the two new planets, though settling on a simple wave and an excited yell.*

"They don't like being apart, okay? Keep that IN MIND." *He glared to each planet, before dismissing them all, gently pushing the two youngest planets forward to their new orbit.*

"DISMISSED!! STAY IN YOUR ORBITS!" *The Sun screeched as the planets turned and left. The Earth offered him a small smile and a thumbs up, which he reciprocated.*

.

.

.

*He looked back at the double-planet one last time, as Luna began orbitting the Earth.*
