Work Text:

The clouds lay thick in the sky, partially covering the moon. Under a sliver of moonlight, Eijirou slides open a window and slips in. A cheshire grin shines on his face as he strolls through this familiar apartment, retracing his steps. He has been here before to investigate and then for reconnaissance. Eijirou opens up the door at the end of the hallway. He enters a guest bedroom turned museum/shrine. All Might memorabilia line the walls and tables. In the middle of the room lies Eijirou’s prize.

He approaches the figurine covered in a glass case. It’s a misprinted prototype of Silver Age All Might. The hair is off colored and the cape is a darker blue with no red inner lining. Given to All Might for corrections, it is the only one in existence. He holds up the device he bought to jam the alarms. He cautiously opens the case. The only thing he can hear in the still air is his breathing. Eijirou triumphantly smirks. It seems he wasn’t scammed. At least, he won’t have to dirty his hands tonight.

He gently lifts mini All Might out and places it into a smaller case of his own to preserve it. Eijirou leaves the same way he entered. He doesn’t bother shutting the window or covering up his crime. Deku will know sooner or later anyway, especially considering who Eijirou is visiting next.

Eijirou wants to head straight to his hero’s home first, but he knows this gift isn’t perfect just yet. His hero deserves the best of the best, and Eijirou is determined to give him just that. He detours to a bar on a specific street. Eijirou snatches a drunk person and pays her to be a willing hostage. It wouldn’t be manly to kidnap her when she’s done nothing wrong. She’s doing him a favor anyway.

She pays it back when she screams and cries so convincingly as All Might watches, horror and anger and fear in his sunken eyes. The retired hero asks him what he wants, trying to appease him and not hurt the poor woman. Or trying to stall while other heroes arrived. Eijirou has no doubt that All Might has excellent security in and around his house that he definitely set off with his abrupt entrance through the front door, which lays splintered on the floor.

Eijirou hums as if considering what he wants as a bribe. With one hand occupied, wrapped around the woman’s neck, he lifts the figurine out with the other along with a sharpie. All Might’s eyes widen in shock and confusion as Eijirou steps forward and sets them into his trembling hands. He stares the hero down and orders him to sign it and to not mess it up. He shakes the woman a bit as a reminder. All Might agrees on the condition he let her go. Eijirou smirks and agrees, giving his word. All Might shakily but carefully sighs his own name on the base of his miniature.

Eijirou snatches it back and checks the signature. Nothing is off. He lets go of the woman who stumbles to All Might’s side, already thanking him and asking for a signature, too. As he places it back into the case, he hears movement outside.

Eijirou looks out the front and spots heroes rapidly approaching. He sweeps his eyes over each of them and scowls. His hero isn’t here. Eijirou runs out the back door with his cargo secure. He won’t bother fighting a worthless nobody. Besides, Eijirou needs to find out what his firecracker has been up to in his absence.

As he runs down streets and alleys to get the heroes off his back, Eijirou thinks about Dynamight. A part of him really wishes his hero had shown up, even if his gift would probably be destroyed in the process. He hasn’t fought him in a week, and he misses him so much. Misses the heat and sound of explosions as the force ricochets against his hardened skin. Misses the muscular arms, broad shoulders, form-fitting chest, and tiny waist, which he loves to wrap his hands around. Misses the screams of rage and curse-ridden insults. Most of all Eijirou misses that ferocious, gorgeous smile that shines on Dynamight’s face every time he battles a strong opponent. It’s so different than the usual scowl that graces his face, though that look is beautiful, too.

After he loses everyone tailing him, Eijirou slows down and heaves a sigh. Has his hero forgotten about him? It’s only been a week, but he usually sends something to remind the hero of his existence. Eijirou has been busy hunting this gift and a villain that hospitalized Dynamight two weeks ago down. If his hero has forgotten, Eijirou will have to remind him.

On the way to Dynamight’s home, he turns on his phone and checks the trackers he hid in every shoe, just in case. He ignores the bright dots overlapping the apartment and sees two travelling to his agency. Interesting. Dynamite didn’t have any patrols tonight last he checked. Eijirou takes another detour to see what the hell his hero’s up to. The cameras he hid in his office show the hero undressing. Eijirou covers the screen for a few seconds until lowering it enough to see that Dynamight is clothed and moving to his desk. Eijirou observes the hero fiddling with the safe hidden in a drawer under a false bottom.

As he strolls there, Dynamite leaves and the dots move to his apartment. Eijirou wonders if he had dinner earlier or not. Checking the apartment cameras as he walks up the stairs of the agency, Eijirou watches as the hero goes straight to bed without eating. Eijirou opens the office door and steps inside. He’ll check what the hero hid, then drop off the gift and breakfast.

After unlocking the safe, Eijirou’s jaw drops as he sees the treasure nestled inside. He reverently picks it up and gawks at the limited edition Crimson Riot trading card with a signature. Eijirou can’t help the bright, boyish grin blooming on his face as the fanned embers in his heart warm his chest. His hero didn’t forget him. In fact, he thinks about him, too, and remembers what he says, even offhandedly.

Eijirou borrows a pen and paper and writes a thank you note before tucking it with the case as he wraps it up. He makes sure to use the same thing every time, so Dynamight knows the present is from him and no one else. Sunlight starts to slowly fade in, highlighting the room orange.

Eijirou whips on a little disguise, a hat and face mask, and hurries out. He buys his hero’s favorite coffee and breakfast sandwich and drops everything off on his kitchen counter. Eijirou hears sheets rustling and Dynamight’s grumbles as he wakes up. Eijirou leaves, smile still stuck on his face and the card safe in his pocket. He needs to squirrel this gift away at his safest safe house and get ready for a battle later. Eijirou will have to push beyond his limits to properly thank his hero. Eijirou smirks as blood pumps through him, getting him wound up. He can’t wait.

Notes:

I originally wrote a villain Bakugou fic at first, but I wanted to put more time into it and it didn’t fit the sweeter vibes of this series anyway. But, I think this fic works better and it was fun to write. I love a villain with a twisted moral code.
