Work Text:
The moment you vocalize your question, Vil's covering his mouth with the back of his hand and letting out the prettiest laugh you've ever heard in your life. It bounces like a symphony; majestic and refined, but the lilt in his tone is a pitch too high, too drawn out, and ruins the illusion.
For this gorgeous laughter was not one of amusement but bemusement.
"Oh, my darling..!" He begins. His words dressed in a silken fit of cheery giggling as he opens his eyes to stare back at your hopeful ones, watching as the curve of your smile stoops deeper and deeper.
It's an adorable sight to see — one he feels almost guilty for what he's about to say that'll most definitely break it. Almost.
"I wouldn't let this oaf kiss the soles of my stilettos, much less my lips."
The face you give him drops as though he just admitted to kicking a baby puppy.
"What?!" You have to bite back the whine you nearly let mix into your words as you look at Vil with eyes of exasperated, but in your eyes entirely valid, bewilderment as you say, "but he's your boyfriend!"
And to that, Vil rolls his eyes heavenwards. His lashes fluttering prettily, "Unfortunately, and that fact changes nothing. I'm not kissing him. End of story."
"Decision's made, and when the queen makes up her mind, you best not waste your time since not even beggin's gonna get through that head of hers," came Leona's jabbing comment from where he's sprawled himself across Vil's plush, purple sofa. A lazy smirk's lifting on his face that smells of shit-eating smugness and sweet triumph as he notes the oh so subtle twitch of Vil's left eyebrow — a tic of his that appears whenever he's growing annoyed.
Vil's opens his mouth, and you can practically hear the argument that'll no doubt spark the moment whatever's boiling on his tongue leaves past his lips. That said, you speak first, for you were determined ( embarrassingly so ) to see this dream of yours become a reality.
"Leona.." You call his name with a slight drawl to your voice, dragging your feet over to the couch before then making room for yourself, sitting on the slither of seating left where his hips lay and leaning over him.
Your chests meet, your pleading eyes lock with his amused emerald one, and a staring match ensues. The bit of pride that still sticks to you like glue refuses to do any more than this, but his expression tells you that the road ends here if you don't bite the bullet.
So, with heating cheeks, you do. Bashfully muttering, "Leona..can you please kiss Vil.."
..But you should've known better than to think it would be so simple, because with that grin of his growing so wide that his canines peak out to say hi to you, he hums out, "What was that, little herbivore? Didn't quite hear you. 'Gonna hafta speak a little louder than that."
Bastard, you wanted to say to him for teasing you. Instead, you grit your teeth and go along with his game, saying, "Could you please kiss Vil? Please.. — just a peck is all I need and I'll drop this."
That earns a chuckle out of him, but not what you want. Leona still lays there with his arms behind his head, not a twitch or a notion insinuating that he planned to move anytime soon. Your plan had failed. You had embarrassed yourself for nothing — you find yourself beating on his chest with your fist as you bury your face into his clothes at the same time, your frustration piquing.
"Sorry, herbivore, but its outta my hands," He said, tone mocking and not the least bit apologetic, "Your royal highness already gave her answer. Even if I agree to what you want, I can't force her into doin' anything she doesn't wanna do."
"It was futile from the start," Vil adds, "For you to think otherwise was nothing short of delusional thinking, my dear."
"Oh come on!" You snap, "Why are you talking like I suggested something blasphemous?!"
"Because what you're suggesting is blasphemous," Vil retorts, "I mean, for me to kiss him of all people—"
"You're literally dating him!" You yell, "You guys are a couple! Couples kiss! Hell, we're a fucking couple and you kiss me all the time—!"
"First off, language — and lower your voice while you're at it," Vil reprimands, "Secondly, just because we're dating one another doesn't mean we're required to do anything. Not kiss, or hug, or even hold hands."
"Then what's the point of being a couple?!" You say, finally parting with your spot against Leona as you sit up, "What's the point of all this if you don't show your interest in one another at least a little?!"
"We show interest enough. We wouldn't be together otherwise," Vil argues calmly, "We're comfortable in one another's presence — to a point that passes platonicy, might I add — and though we argue at times, our back and forths are nothing more than lighthearted jabbing nowadays."
"Is that what we're calling it now? That's news to me," Leona throws in, his deep voice barely hiding his taunting tone.
"As I was saying," Vil continues, his brows knitting as a way to mask the agitation Leona once again attempts to tug out of him. For the most part, he succeeds, and goes on to finish his sentence, saying, "Compared to how we acted towards one another our freshman year, I'd say we couldn't be more in love. Just because you don't see it, quite frankly, means nothing to me, sweetheart."
"And, regardless of any of that, the bottom line is that this was all just a sad attempt at trying to see a perverse fantasy of yours come to light."
"It's not perverse..." You tried to defend, but the impact you made wasn't all that meaningful thanks to your pitiful delivery. You slump in defeat.
In the end, you accomplished nothing but destroying your pride and making yourself look like a fool before two of the hottest people on earth. Great work genius.
No seriously, great work — because while your efforts seemed to be in vain at the time, it eventually payed off. Your moping that evening and following morning did more to Vil's heart than he would like to admit, and Leona being Leona, made sure to tease him to hell and back for being such a jerk to his own partner.
In truth, it was nothing but simple teasing to get under his skin. Nothing meant to really hurt him, Vil knew, but it did — in a way — make him realize that he may have been a bit overzealous when turning you down that evening.
And so, to make it up to his beloved, he invited you and Leona over to his dorm the next time he had time on his hands — excusing it as needing help testing some new makeup cosmetics he made. ( It took a bit more effort to get Leona to come, but he managed to coax him out of the school's botanical gardens eventually. )
You didn't think anything of it and seemed to be in a better mood — having completely forgotten about the little dispute that had happened a few weeks prior — and were eager to help your boyfriend out as you always did....only to be told to sit and watch.
You were confused, but your confusion quickly disappeared the moment Vil started applying lipstick to his lips and stood before Leona.
He started off slow, starting with his cheek and then making his way down to his chin — and complaining briefly about the chin hair his lips came into contact with — before moving to the other side.
Your eyes followed him like a hawk, your mouth hanging open as your expression remained stuck with this dumbfounded, shell-shocked expression on it. Within a few minutes, Leona's face had been absolutely covered. Every inch of his skin had been stamped with a ruby red lip print save for one spot, the one you had awaited the most, Leona's lips.
Vil adjusted one last time, both shifting himself and turning the chair at an angle that would give you a proper look at the show you had so desperately rooted to happen. He looked down at Leona, who looked up at him with expectant eyes — clearly amused by this whole charade he had put so much effort in putting on for his lover.
They stayed like that for moment — a conversation without words having come and passed between them in the time Vil took to brush back Leona's hair and cup his face — before, at last, you got your wish and Vil leaned in to capture the beastman's lips.
The first kiss lasted no longer than a second as did the next kiss that was stolen immediately after. That said, by the third and fourth kiss, they were gone, exchanging in a war of tongue and teeth as though something had awoken within them — as if they had finally come to the realization that they could touch on another.
..And touch they did. Leona at some point snuck a hand up Vil's thigh — that had propped itself up on the chair so invitingly as the model got more into it — and Vil himself was no better in the end as his manicured hands slid down his face, down his neck, and stopped at his collarbone.
When they parted they were both breathless, but Leona, though slightly winded, still managed to mutter out a comment. ( Of course he had. )
"It's not like you to double back on something," He notes, and despite his face looking like a love-stricken teenage girl's mirror, he has the nerve to try and tease, "The herbivore makin' you soft?"
Vil doesn't miss a beat, "I could say the same for you. Since when have you become so complacent? First it was back at the gardens and now this — you're almost like a doll right now."
Leona matches his energy, immediately replying with that dazzling yet smug grin of his, "I've just learned my place here in this relationship 's all."
Vil's own smirk grows, "Your place is sat here under me?"
"Something like that. You gonna find a way to complain about that now too?"
Vil's smirk drops instantly and he goes to roll his eyes at the comment when his gaze finds itself caught on you.
You were smiling ear to ear now, your eyes glittered with glee, and your feet kicked and swayed as though you were some little kid who just received a giant basket of candy. It was truly a ridiculous sight to behold, but a sight that melted his heart regardless. ( He'd walk down a runway wearing a trash bag and mismatched socks while his face is riddled with pimples before admitting Leona Kingscholar of all people right about something, but maybe he has grown a tad softhearted for you. No more than a tad though. )
"Why don't you look pleased with yourself," Vil commented, "As much as I'd just hate to ruin that for you, we need to move forward with the next test and I need a temporary — and hopefully less chatty — subject to replace this one while he goes off to wash his face," He explains as he breaks away from Leona, then flashes you with a smile that could bring a nation to their knees.
"Could you be a dear and help me out for a bit?"
You've never moved to sit in a chair faster in your life.
