Chapter Text
In the distance, a voice shouted, "And the shattering commences!"
"An amethyst, Facet-5 Cut-8XM," the peridot glanced down at her hologram board, "Was caught shapeshifting as a creature from Crystal System Colony Planet Earth, named an "owl", breaking law 53-7."
The amethyst looked up at the giant, muted pink gem. "I'm so sorry for shapeshifting, plea—!"
The diamond removed her dark, magenta gloves, revealing her smooth sharp hands. Her nails were short but somehow pointy, now touching the amethyst's gem.
Pink could never be used to this feeling. Of crushing, shattering a gem, their hopes and dreams all gone in one hard press. It's for the new colony, Pink reminded herself.
Pink pressed the gem harder.
The amethyst's gem began glowing and slowly cracking from the inside. Crack,..crack.. crack....SHATTER—! All that was left of the amethyst was shards of purple, reflecting the muted pink of the diamond standing in front. The shards are then picked up by other amethysts and thrown into baskets of shards carried by rose quartzes. A process that Pink Diamond tried very hard to get used to. "A ruby, face—"
It all began years ago. Pink couldn't remember how long, but she was sure it had been long. When she had only one colony.
A sapphire and a ruby had fallen in love in Blue's Court and "fused" into a "garnet" (at least, that's what they called themselves).
The "garnet" had tried to escape Blue's Court and onto Pink's very first colony.
Pink had just landed onto her colony, when the fusion accidentally knocked her to the ground. Pink tried to keep the "garnet" from escaping, knowing that this fusion was a fugitive of Blue's Court. The "garnet" attempted to escape her grasp, accidentally pulling off Pink's gloves. Blue's quartzes had chased all the way here, and witnessed something so terrifying that even Blue Diamond could not believe. It was so unexpected that not even the sapphire knew this was coming.
When Pink's hot pink gloves slipped, her nails pressed onto one of the "garnet"'s hands. The fusion screamed out of pain. A pain that felt like you were being torn from the inside out.
The fusion pulled apart, one of them shattering. From the mess and screams, Pink couldn't tell who had been shattered. Shattered? How could I.. how? The cloud faded and Pink saw shards of red on the grassy land, now carmine reflected by Pink's own gem. Pink still wondered though, whatever happened to the sapphire? Perhaps, someday they'll find her, and maybe I'll talk to her. Maybe I'll say how sorry I am—
"My Diamond?" the pearl asked, her hair now longer then before. "Hm?" Pink shifted over from her vanity seat to face the pearl. "The second colony has successfully finished Facet-3."
Oh, that's good!" Pink forced a smile.
"Yes, well," the pearl clasped her hands, "They're expecting you to host a ball to celebrate."
"Right, Pearl," Pink brushed her hair, now even fluffier, "Announce a ball tonight and make sure to invite White, Yellow and Blue."
The pearl smiled, "Yes, my Diamond," and began walking away.
