Chapter Text
It was the 9th of February, just a few days before Valentine's Day. Some students in class 3.A were discussing their plans with their significant other. Tenya hid behind a wall, just a few meters from the lively conversation his classmates were having. Usually Tenya wouldn't be the one to eavesdrop, especially not about love. But he's got a problem. A big problem.
Since the start of the second year at U.A, he's grown fond of a fellow classmate of his. Of course he's grown closer to all of his classmates especially after the traumatic events of the war with All for One but he felt a different feeling for that person.
The feeling felt… odd. It was unknown to Tenya but he liked it. He liked the warmth he felt whenever they would tap his shoulder or call out his name from the hallways. It made his heart palpitate faster but not out of nervousness or fear. He felt safe around that certain someone, like being surrounded in a blanket of clouds on a warm day.
At first Tenya had no idea what he was feeling, so he consulted two of his best friends. Midoriya and Uraraka. It was safe to say it wasn't a good idea. He still remembered the genuine shock they had on their faces when he had finished explaining his feelings to them. He still remembered what Midoriya had told him before his entire mind went blank.
“Iida, You're in love!”
The days went by like blur after Midoriya had uttered those words. He tried to push away his thoughts and somehow convince himself that he wasn't in love with one of his classmates, he was the class president after all! He surely couldn't harbour these kinds of feelings towards one of his comrades right? It didn't work though. He had to accept it. He has a crush on Shoto Todoroki.
It had been 6 months since the discovery and his denial. Now he stood behind a wall considering whether he should completely barge into their conversation just to ask them for advice.
He decided to hide his shame and ask for help. He bit his lip and revealed himself from the wall he had been hiding from. He walked over to the lounge room where the group had been having their discussion.
“Excuse my interruption but may I ask you all something?”
The group that consisted of Mina, Denki, Hagakure, Momo, Jirou and Kirishima turned their heads to face Tenya's flustered face.
“Yeah! What’ca need Iida?” Kirishima asked.
Tenya sat on the lime-green sofa next to Mina. He took a breath before he started.
“Well, I overheard your conversation you guys were having earlier and thought that maybe you guys could help me with what I've been troubled with. Only Midoriya and Uraraka know this secret and I'm glad they've kept this secret for this long. Just to keep my explanation short, I… I want to ask Todoroki-kun out for Valentine's day.”
When Tenya had finished, he felt his cheeks redden as he heard the surprised gasps from his classmates. Moments later he was suffocating with the amount of questions Mina and Hagakure were asking. He really should have expected this to happen considering how pushy Mina and Hagakure would get when they get any sort of shocking news but he couldn't blame them, it was out of the blue.
If it weren't for Momo for deescalating the situation he was in, he'd probably die from absolute embarrassment. He could always count on his vice president for anything that he was stuck on.
After a while of trying to get his shit back together, he started again.
“I actually wanted to ask you all for some advice on how I should ask him out.”
