Work Text:
Yuji woke up early in the morning, exactly thirty minutes before the alarm – which was unusual. He would sleep in every single day, snuggled in between at least four pillows, drooling over whichever he managed to grab unknowingly. He kinda liked it that way, to be honest. Yuji never closed the blinds either, it was a thing he learned from his friend at West Junior High – the sun shining through the window would make it way too hot to stay in bed and cause him to wake up. It may have worked for Junpei, but it sure as hell didn't work for Yuji. He actually managed to sleep through it all, because it was so nice and warm on his skin. It did cause him to oversleep on multiple occasions, that's why his mom had to drag him out of bed almost every time. For the past year he was working on that issue – or at least trying to – since he had an enormous project to work on. A movie, to be exact, and he got to play the role of Peter Parker himself.
He did get roles in the past, obviously, this was not his very first drill. Not even the first Marvel experience for him either, since he did previously debut as Spider-man in the Civil War movie. In the earlier projects, he had his parents – and he could always count on his parents. However, it was so different this time. This time, there was only Itadori Yuji. As Spider-Man. In the MCU. Like a whole movie about him. A whole movie!
That was a dream come true for Yuji and he was not going to let his bad sleeping habits hinder his career or reputation on set, because obviously – it would be insanity to cause any delays, unproffesional. So, like a grown and responsible adult that he was, Yuji figured out a way. A brilliant way, honestly he was so proud of himself for that one.
"Itadori, are you out of your goddamn mind?"
A less brilliant execution, that was for sure. He cleared his throat and chuckled awkwardly. "Please? Kugisaki I need this–"
"You want me to fly out there with you just to wake your lazy ass up?" Yuji was really thankful that they were talking over the phone, because he was absolutely sure that Nobara would strangle him if he brought that up in person. "Are you a kid? Genuine question," he opened his mouth to answer, but was cut off. "Actually no, don't answer that."
"Well, timezones would make it hard for calls, no?" he asked, but silence on the other side made him regret that question.
"I'm not your mom. I'm hanging–"
"No, wait! I'll pay for everything and get you whatever you want! You wanted to travel and you're my best friend, come on. It'll be fun!"
After another pause, the silence was cut by a long groan, "I hate you so much."
"Love you too."
So, that was how he ended up with Nobara as his own private alarm clock, banging on his bedroom door every morning. He did end up spending way too much of his budget to recompensate her for that at first, but after a while they both actually got used to it. Soon, she started making her own content online and was really damn good at it too. It was really nice to see her happy.
Sometimes, Nobara would hang out around the set, meeting the crew and the cast, launging around the food area, or simply minding her own business in Yuji's trailer. She fit right into that world, everyone absolutely adored her – especially Gojo Satoru. He was the manager of Yuji's co-star, Fushiguro Megumi, and now apparently Kugisaki's adoptive father. Or uncle? A pain in the ass for sure, but nonetheless a cool dude, Yuji liked him too.
What he didn't like, were the rumors that quickly spread around about the new Spider-Man and the girl he was almost always with. Nobara didn't care much, in fact it was quite amusing for her – as for Itadori, he was extremely annoyed. What his brilliant plan did not include was a proper way to avoid those rumors. The constant implications made his blood boil sometimes, but he had to suck it up and move on because people will talk anyway, no matter what he would or wouldn't say. That's what Fushiguro once told him.
Speaking of Fushiguro, they became close friends too, all three of them. They grabbed lunches or hit the gym together whenever they could – which was not that many times considering Yuji's and Megumi's schedules, but still. Sometimes they'd get to have movie nights too. It was nice to get along like that. Yuji hoped to keep it up after the premiere. Obviously, they still got to see each other a lot because of the infinite interviews afterwards, and many other gigs that both him and Fushiguro had to attend. But that was work. Yuji wanted to be friends outside of that, to have more time to spend together, but not in front of the cameras. Which was extremely difficult, considering the insane popularity and success the movie achieved. That they all achieved.
Yeah. Friends. Nobara was Yuji's friend. Best friend, even. He absolutely loved her and considered her as family. They knew each other since they both were little kids and basically grew up together. However, when it came to Megumi, Itadori was a bit conflicted. Sure, he considered him a friend. It was nice to have him around. But it was still… different than with Kugisaki.
With Fushiguro – well. He was a known Disney star, of course Itadori was familiar with his name. It even crossed his mind a few times, that one day he would love for them both to star in a movie together. Yuji would definitely consider him a celebrity crush, maybe even his first one. Come on, how could he not when Megumi was just so damn good at everything he did? The guy played sports, acted, sang, modeled, danced – that was impressive!
Sometimes, Yuji caught himself thinking of how Megumi's hair always fell on one side of his face and how it made him look cute. Other times, he would think of how his green eyes looked like they were glowing, whenever he did something he enjoyed. Or, well – Yuji assumed that he enjoyed. He didn't know. But yeah, just some thoughts.
Similar ones started visiting his head shortly after the filming began. Itadori was over all a very open and friendly person and he found out rather quickly that Fushiguro was not. At least not that much. It took a bit longer than usual to get closer to him, since Megumi seemed to be set in a this is a job mindset. Which wasn't wrong, just unexpected, considering how he acted in front of any cameras. However, once the ice between them was broken – bless Nobara and her amazing idea of hiding Gojo's stained shirt – everything kind of clicked into place, and once it did, Yuji's thoughts began.
He thought of how he got to play Peter Parker, but, with an addition to how Fushiguro got to play MJ. He thought of how their fingers brushed when Yuji passed him a cup of coffee one time, or how their eyes locked a few times, without a reason. And since Yuji had a soft spot for those eyes, it made him think of how up close, their color was something so hard to explain. One could say they were green, sure, but that wasn't really true and Itadori was able to see it now – it was the kind of green that only the deep ocean would hold, with its waves crashing into the endless blue sky. Or, the kind of deep blue that only the dark, ink stained sky would have, the one that carried storms and thunder over hills covered with tall grass. It was almost as if they were neither green nor blue, rather something painfully in between. Something that would make you understand what it means to be lost in the depths of a dark forest, or drowning in the sea.
Yuji blamed those thoughts on the crush from the past.
There was one evening, where him and Megumi were rehearsing some scenes together. It was back at Yuji's hotel and they were both sprawled on a couch in the living room. Well, kind of. Megumi was mostly sprawled on Yuji, head resting on his belly. It was because apparently Fushiguro found it easier to focus that way – since they wouldn't look at each other, or something. For Yuji it was a bit harder though, because they were so close, he could feel vibrations from Fushiguro's voice whenever he spoke. It was very comfortable though, and they both fell asleep like that. Kugisaki came back later, took a photo and made sure no one forgot about that for two weeks straight. What she didn't know, was that Yuji had that photo printed and hidden in his wallet since then, alongside the one he had with Nobara – taken on the first day of middle school.
Why not, right? Nice memories, cute photos.
Anyway, those plans of his – the ones to spend even more time together – they had to wait a bit longer, because it was currently almost a month after the global premiere of Spider-man: Homecoming – which was amazing – but Yuji was really damn tired. He didn't sleep well at all. First, he woke up because he was too cold from the AC. He turned it off, covered himself with a blanket and went back to sleep. Around an hour later, he woke up again, but this time it was too hot in the room for him. After tossing himself around the bed for a few minutes, he decided to turn the AC back on. He didn't sleep much after that, his eyes flew wide open at the slightest sound he could hear from somewhere down the street. That was exactly how he ended up wide awake half an hour early, with the sun shining directly into his eyes. He was annoyed, to say the least.
Yuji groaned and rubbed his eyes with one hand. Honestly, it was the worst possible way to start that day. He took a deep breath in, held the air in his lungs for a second, and then he almost screamed. Almost – just whined a bit when he let the air out. The sun shining through the window was suddenly way too hot for him to handle, so he tossed the blanket aside, got up and went straight into the bathroom to take a shower.
Fifteen minutes later he was standing face to face with Kugisaki, her hand in the air prepared to knock at the door. If Yuji would open that door a moment later, her fist would probably end up somewhere around his cheek. It did happen once – though under different circumstances – and it hurt like hell so Yuji wasn't really looking forward for that to happen again.
"The hell? I thought I was hearing things."
"Yeah, good morning," his voice sounded kinda rough and a few droplets of water fell down from his hair when he turned to pass her. "Couldn't sleep."
"Yeah I can tell that," she followed him. "Why? You nervous?"
Yuji sat down at the table and looked over at the food Nobara must've ordered earlier to save time.
"Kinda," with a heavy sigh he poured them both some black coffee and took a sip from his cup.
"Wait," she rushed out to the bathroom and came back a few minutes later with a face mask on. "Okay. Now, why are you nervous?"
Kugisaki sat down in front of Yuji as he was nibbling on a slice of a French toast. A single raspberry fell down from it on the table, barely missing his coffee, which made her stop in her tracks and frown. Itadori just picked it up with two fingers and shoved it into his mouth.
"I dunno," he mumbled, "What if I mess up or something?"
"Dude," she pointed a fork at him. "You messed up when you spoiled the movie. Period. What is there to possibly mess up in a lip sync slash dance competition? Come on, give me a break, you were calmer on the premiere."
"That's diff–"
"Wait actually," she grinned, "You could've spilled the choreo to Fushiguro. That would be a mess up."
"What? You don't know it either."
She gave him a look, "I know the song."
Yuji mumbled something about not knowing the whole thing anyway but quickly shut up after Nobara gave him probably the last warning with her look.
Maybe he was overthinking it. Yeah, he probably was overthinking it. But those were all valid concerns, right? The show was not live, so that was a relief, but there's only one chance to give someone a first impression and he really did not want to miss it. He and Fushiguro agreed to not going all out and crazy on the stage out there, since Megumi was kind of sceptical about the whole idea from the very start. Which is why Yuji would wonder all the time, why did he even agree to do that in the first place – but that was not something Fushiguro wanted to explain, so.
Apart from that, somewhere deep within him, Yuji just simply wanted to win. It seemed fun enough to him and so he got a bit competitive. And spent every single moment he could on rehearsing. And that was kinda on him that he couldn't hang out with his friends that much, now that he thought about it. Plus, it would be the first time he'd get to see Megumi dancing, not on the TV. The thought made his heart skip a beat, so he tried to focus on something else.
Nervous was an understatement. Yuji was absolutely freaking out on their way to the studio, despite Kugisaki trying everything to calm him down. Not a single argument got into that head of his, not even sweets or puppies, or Spider-Man being able to lock in whenever he was needed. Yuji's hands were sweaty, his whole face was sweaty and he probably came up with every what if possible. Which was something that left Nobara really annoyed and hoping for the day to be over soon, or else she might actually explode.
She couldn't quite remember when was the last time she saw her friend like that. Maybe before his first ever performance? But he was a kid back then, it didn't count. Nobara frowned even more. If she ended up with wrinkles before she hit thirty, she was going to blame everything on Yuji and probably beat his ass too.
She texted Fushiguro a few times – zero success, she was left on read. Which, to be fair, was not really unusual for him, especially before an event. He once told her that he did that so that they would know he was fine and saw the text, but will answer it later. Naturally, the question anyone would ask in that situation would be how the fuck did you come up with that solution and a follow-up question why the fuck did you assume we wouldn't think that you're ignoring us on purpose. Both of those questions received a short well I just explained, so Nobara decided to sit that one out and accept that Fushiguro ghosting them is a good thing. Yuji didn't mind that, but Yuji would jump if Fushiguro told him to, so.
In that case, since Fushiguro was fine, she took her phone out to text Gojo, right before smacking Yuji's hands, because he was picking the skin around his nails. It didn't help much – just as they arrived he started again, but this time with his teeth. She elbowed him for that one and ignored his what was that for whining, because he knew the exact reason and Kugisaki was not in the mood. She felt her phone vibrating, only to realise it was an incoming call from Gojo Satoru himself.
"What's up?"
"When are you going to be here?"
She closed her eyes and counted to three, "we just got out of the car."
"Great! I'm inside, on the left from the staff entrance. Oop– Megumi just came back," he lowered his voice," he had to take a breath outside cause he's nervous."
Amazing things awaiting for Kugisaki right there, two dumbasses freaking out over a high school level competition.
"Be there in a second."
She slipped her phone into her back pocket and gestured Itadori to follow.
"Was that Fushiguro?" Yuji bumped her shoulder slightly.
"Nope. That was Gojo and Fushiguro apparently is stressed about this too," she explained, showing her badge to the security. Yuji got an immediate pass and didn't even have to take his out. Yeah, she expected that.
"No he isn't," he muttered. "Wait, is he really?"
"I'm sure he's fine, chill," she breathed out as Yuji opened the door for her.
Gojo was exactly where he said he would be, with Fushiguro leaning against the wall on his right. A smug smile appeared on Satoru's face immediately after spotting both of them. He took a few steps toward them, and put his round sunglasses at the top of his head, revealing a clearly fresh haircut, neatly trimmed over his ears. Megumi tipped his head to one side in the background, offering a small, lopsided smile.
"Look who it is! How are we feeling guys?" He put his arms over Nobara's and Yuji's shoulders, squeezing both of them quickly before letting go. "Nobara, good?" She nodded, "Yuji, why do you look like you ran to get here?"
"Quite hot out there, isn't it?"
Gojo pouted and nodded once, "well that's true. Megumi, c'mere," he waited for Fushiguro to catch up before he continued. "Kids–"
"Excuse you?"
"Fushiguro, shut up," Kugisaki hissed, earning a confused look from him.
"Thank you Nobara. Anyway, I need both of you to calm your asses down, cause you look like you really don't want to be here right now. It's going to show. Also, why on earth are you this nervous, like, what's going on? You know you could've said no to this gig, right?" They both nodded.
"No, I want to be here," Yuji started, "but that's my first time doing something like that. I'm excited. And scared. And I might slip."
Gojo blinked with a smile, "why would you slip on the dry floor, wearing dry shoes?"
"I'm not–"
Nobara put her hand over his mouth and Yuji just nodded, defeated.
"First time too, let me live," Fushiguro mumbled and grabbed Yuji's arm, rushing forward with him "We need to get to the dressing rooms, later."
Kugisaki watched as Gojo took a step back and rested the back of his head on the same wall Fushiguro was leaning on earlier. "That is not Megumi's first time doing that," he mumbled. "Whole ass actors scared of a dance battle, why are–" he cut off and slowly turned to face Nobara. "Oh. Oh, so it's like that, huh?"
"Yeah, it's like that," she shrugged. "I guess," she huffed, watching as Itadori put his arm around Fushiguro, right before disappearing behind the corner.
And yeah, that was her best and only guess. She was used to hanging out with both of them and she also knew what Itadori was like. Not much has changed in his behaviour ever since befriending Fushiguro, but there were some things she did notice.
The first one that made her raise an eyebrow was the fact that Yuji never really cared that much about what people thought of him. He was a good kid all his life, always helpful and always trying to do what's best for others, whether criticised for that behaviour or not. He was always true to his feelings and honest with everyone, despite his growing popularity. Whatever someone said in an interview or wrote in an article about him, usually was met with Yuji's it can't be helped attitude. So, when he first got angry with rumors that implied a relationship between him and Nobara, she got confused. It wasn't even the first time that it happened. Unusual, but she brushed it off and moved on.
The second thing that made her suspicious was how Itadori spoke of Fushiguro – not even mentioning the fact that he genuinely couldn't shut up about him. If anyone else had heard it, they probably wouldn't think much of it. However, there was something about Yuji that changed and it was visible every single time Fushiguro's name slipped past his lips. It was the way he said it every time, with a softened breath and a corner of his lips tilted upwards.
She had never seen Itadori have that kind of look in his eye either. Back when they were teenagers, there were some girls that he liked. They talked about them sometimes. But nothing really happened – ever. Yuji had never confessed to anyone or never dated a single one of those girls. And there was absolutely no way Nobara wouln't have known, whether he would admit it or not.
Each time he turned to Fushiguro, his brown eyes turned into honey. It was honestly really amusing to watch as the only person able to catch that – Yuji being even more Yuji than he ever was, whenever Fushiguro was around.
Those were the subtle things. Whatever the hell they had going on now, that was just up in her face.
Nobara eyed Gojo and sighed.
"Should we get going? How much time do we have anyway?"
"Uh," he looked at his left wrist, pretending he had a watch there, "we can grab the seats now. They had rehearsals all day yesterday and the day before that, so everything is ready, they all just need to dress up, make the stage all pretty and go perform. It's gonna take a couple hours, though. They have interviews later and other people are performing too."
"Lead th–" wait. She turned to Gojo, pointing a finger towards now an empty hallway. "Did you see her?"
"See who?"
"Anne Hathaway. You didn't tell me Anne Hathaway would be here."
"How should I know that Anne Hathaway would be here?"
"You're Fushiguro's manager! You definitely should know Anne Hathaway would be here."
There was a short pause and Gojo looked at Kugisaki confused. "You're Yuji's manager. Why didn't you know Anne Hathaway would be here?"
"I'm not his manager."
"Oh yeah? Where's his manager then?"
Well, shit.
"Two minutes guys, let's go!" The member of the staff said loudly, clapping his hands. "Mr. Fushiguro and Mr. Itadori, you're up first. Right there."
Yuji barely had time to register the words before someone ushered them toward the stage. The moment they both stepped into it, a wall of white light blinded him, causing him to squint.
"Holy shit."
He hoped that nobody heard that. Well, apart from Fushiguro, judging from the look he gave Yuji.
There were at least three cameras pointed directly at them. One was mounted on a huge rig that hovered over the stage. Another one was carried by a cameraman, and the third one was on a giant holder to their left. Presumably, there were more to be added later, judging by the number of people running around behind the equipment.
There was actually a huge audience already waiting, which to be fair – he didn't really expect. That was a lot of people cheering from under the stage. Someone shouted his name from the above. Yuji perked up his head, only to see two balconies over them, each with around ten people. He smiled and waved at them, catching Fushiguro in the corner of his eye, doing the exact same.
One thing about being on the stage is that you genuinely can't see shit. The light shining at you makes it impossible, so all Yuji saw from the audience, was basically a blur. The only faces he could actually catch in the crowd in front of them, were Kigusaki's and Gojo's. And that was only because they were sitting in their own little separated area to the side, alongside a few other people. Yuji assumed they were also some managers. Or members of the staff. He didn't really know them, so.
"Good to see you boys! How are we feeling?"
Takaba's voice caught Yuji's attention. Fushiguro was already shaking hands with him, so Yuji followed a second later.
"Good to see you too, Takaba-san. We're good, actually. Excited." Megumi forced a smile. Itadori remembered, that he wasn't quite fond of the guy. He wondered why.
"Amaze-ing! We're gonna start with a quick introduction like we rehearsed, you know the drill."
Yuji nodded. He put on his best smile and tried ignoring his heart that was about to jump out of his chest. Don't slip. Don't you dare slip today. He shifted his weight, spotting the mark on the floor that someone from the staff pointed out for him. Fushiguro was standing on his own one too. Takaba was on their left, already grinning to one of the cameras.
Yeah, there were two more of them, just like Yuji assumed earlier.
The lights were hot against his face. Somewhere behind the cameramen, a staff member raised a hand.
Three fingers.
Two.
Yuji swallowed and stole a glance at Megumi.
One.
There was a quick melody. A dumb melody, to be honest, kinda similar to the ones you would hear in the elevators. It was immediately followed by the loud and cheerful Welcome to the Lip Sync Battle! that matched the melody's ridiculous pace.
"Hello everybody!" Takaba started, a grin spread all over his face. "I'm glad you all cleared your evenings for us, I know those can get busy!" The whole audience laughed.
Yuji didn't think it was still a thing, usually studios had those screens that lit up with clues for the crowds – like applause or stand up, things like that. But then he spotted a guy below the stage, seemingly holding a huge sign. He smiled and looked away, or else he himself might've started laughing.
"Standing right there with me is the one and only, Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-man! Itadori Yuji!"
There was a round of applause and Yuji smiled, waving to the camera pointed directly at him, then continued waving somewhere at the audience.
"Happy to be here, hi everyone!"
He really hoped that nobody could tell how nervous he was, because he could swear here was a puddle of sweat forming at his feet.
"And of course, alongside him is no one else but his one and only MJ– or, should I say MG? Fushiguro Megumi!"
That actually made Yuji snort. He pointed a finger at Takaba, and Takaba immediately pointed one back at Yuji, tipping his head to one side with a smug grin.
"Thank you for having me. Hello." Fushiguro smiled and clapped with the audience before shooting Yuji a quick look.
"Alright," Takaba nodded. "Before I let you two go crazy over here, I have a couple questions."
Neither of them said anything, only Fushiguro gestured with both of his hands to continue.
"So, since you both insisted on separate rehearsals, my guess is that you do not know each other's songs? Or, well, dances? Anything?"
"We don't actually," Megumi started. "Itadori and I decided that it's for the best and more fun of course. Bigger competition."
"Oh, so you're competitive."
"No," Megumi answered immediately.
"Yes," Yuji said at the same time.
Takaba's grin widened as the studio burst in laughter.
"That's interesting."
"We're not," Megumi insisted.
"But you said it's bigger competition?"
"Okay, well that doesn't mean I'm competitive."
Yuji glanced to the side where Gojo and Kugisaki were. She had one hand on her temple and was looking at Itadori with empty eyes. Oh, she was having fun. As for Gojo, well. He was busy squeezing his nose between his thumb and index finger, trying not to laugh.
"That is exactly what competitive people say, MG," Takaba winked.
Nobara lowered her hand to cover her lips. Oh, she was having so much fun.
"Okay next question! How do you feel doing a gig like that? Both of you started out young, correct? Does that make it easier for you to perform?"
"Oh yeah, we did," Yuji started. "though me personally, I never danced, so that's new," he smiled and rubbed his hands, trying to clumsily wipe off the sweat from them. If he rubbed them on his jeans it would be game over. "But I'm quite confident, you know."
"Yeah," Fushiguro eyed him, "it is a bit easier, since i have some experience. But, first time competing with this guy, so I guess we'll see where the bar is," he smirked.
"Ouch," Yuji clutched his chest, pretending to be offended.
"Confident, aren't you? How about some spider-details now. Yuji, question for you. How many stunts do you do yourself?"
"Well, most of them. There are some that I cannot actually do on my own, but those that I can, they're really fun."
"I see. So, what's your favorite one?"
Yuji looked around for a second, his eyes catching the metal rig that one of the cameras was connected to.
"Oh, right. My favorite stunt would have to be the one where I had to run up this huge steel beam and then stop at the top. And actually, I secretly asked George, our stunt coordinator, and yeah I was like hey do you think I could jump off at the end," Yuji made his voice a tiny bit higher on the last part. "And he agreed! That one was really cool, yeah."
A quick round of applause.
"What about you, Megumi? Is there any Spider-Man-ish stunt that you would like to try out?"
"Well," he stretched out the word, turning to Yuji. "I think the obvious one for anyone involved with Spider-Man would be swinging around the city with him, am I right?"
"Oh yeah," Itadori agreed.
"Is it something that will eventually happen?" Takaba asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"No sir, that's just my answer," Fushiguro chuckled, though Yuji was almost a hundred percent sure that he was annoyed.
The audience laughed, then another round of applause followed.
"Alright, alright. Let's get back to the competition for a second. You've rehearsed separately, you don't know each other's performances, and you're both serious about this."
They both nodded.
"So, if you had to guess–" Takaba pointed at Yuji. "What do you think Megumi is doing?"
Yuji's eyebrows rose.
"Honestly?"
"Honestly."
"I think he's gonna do something serious."
Fushiguro looked at him with a frown.
"Serious?"
"Yeah I mean," Yuji put his hands up, "you don't exactly strike me as someone who's going to come out there and start twerking or something."
Megumi's mouth twitched. "Touché."
"What about Yuji's performance, hm?" Takaba turned to face Fushiguro.
"I genuinely don't know. I think anything can be expected from him. Including twerking."
Takaba turned away from the camera, actually laughing. The audience followed as well.
"Okay," he giggled. "With that being said, let the battle begin! I can't wait to find out what the two of them have been hiding!"
There was a round of applause and cheers and Yuji was sure that he'd heard the loud CUT somewhere in between the chaos. The lights stayed on, but the cameras stopped rolling and everyone seemed to relax a bit, including the man himself.
"Good, very good," Takaba said and Yuji let out a breath he didn't realise he'd been holding in, since who knows when. Geez, he hoped it did not show on camera. "Fushiguro, you have fifteen minutes to get ready, then we roll, sounds good?"
"Sure."
Just as he was turning to leave, Yuji caught his hand. "Good luck."
Megumi nodded and smiled softly, "thanks. You too."
He gave him a pat on the arm and was gone.
Yeah, so that was it for relaxing. Someone guided Yuji toward the area where Kugisaki and Gojo were sitting, for him to wait there. He was going to be allowed back on stage to watch, once everything would be ready. To be completely honest, he was just fine watching from where he was staying now, but obviously he couldn't. People wanted to see Fushiguro and him on the stage, very much visible to the cameras, so that they could film their reactions.
"Dude, that was a nice try with the stunt-bait question," Nobara whispered.
"Good thing Megumi answered it," Gojo yawned.
Yuji just clicked his tongue and rest his back against the chair he was given, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans. He could've handled it just as well for sure.
There was so much going on all over the stage, with the cameras still everywhere. The people in the audience were chatting loudly, some of them waving at Yuji, now that they had the opportunity to do so. Not much he could do in return though, since there were at least four security guards around their little area. Other staff members were moving around the stage – some were talking loudly into their headsets, other ones were checking the cables and other things that Yuji had absolutely no idea about. Takaba disappeared somewhere too.
Don't. Slip. Today.
A group of staff members came out with some more equipment and started moving quickly around the stage, setting up what seemed to be some fog machines, there were even stairs being set up. The marks that they previously stood on were moved. What made Yuji confused, was the giant airplane prop that was dragged out at the very back of the stage. It had a door that two people checked a few times – if it opened properly.
Okay. So Fushiguro was most likely going to go out on the stage through an airplane. What the hell.
"What the hell?" Nobara gasped. Yuji just shrugged and kept watching, because yeah – what the hell.
"You should see them in a hurry," Takaba appeared out of nowhere.
"What do you mean, they're not in a hurry now?" Kugisaki asked, lifting an eyebrow up as someone from the crew jogged across the stage.
"Oh they're definitely in a hurry. But sometimes we have much less time for recordings, you know," she nodded. "Well, the fifteen minutes is almost up, you ready to see your friend over there?"
"Yeah," Yuji nodded and got up.
They both passed the security guards and went around the stage, to the steps on its side. Behind him, there was a guy with a camera on his shoulder, another camera was set up on the stage, close to one of the props – a huge golden slot machine. Takaba took a few steps to the very center and smiled widely to his crew. One of them showed him both thumbs up. Takaba nodded, looked straight into the camera and grinned widely, waiting a few seconds before speaking – counting down, probably.
"Ha! Are you guys ready to see MG in action? I sure am!" There was a quick round of applause, with few occasional whistles. "The stage is yours, Mr. Fushiguro! Make our jaws drop!"
With that, Takaba went back to Yuji and took place on his left side. The audience was clapping loudly as the lights dimmed and Yuji instinctively straightened up a little, his hands hanging loosely by his sides. It was exciting. He was excited. His heart was beating so fast – and it wasn't even his turn yet. He was still stressed, sure, but he mostly just couldn't wait to see whatever Fushiguro was up to.
Yuji could hear people in the audience whispering, followed by a few excited shouts that disappeared almost immediately when the first notes of the song started playing. Huh. Wait–
Airplane.
Slot machine.
Dancers on the sides of the stage.
Feathers? So like, burlesque dancers?
There was no way–
Tonight,
Let's set this party off right.
Yuji's hands shot up as he cheered, raspy AYYY escaping his mouth and familiar warmth filling up his chest. The whole crowd errupted with him, Takaba laughed and clapped beside him. Of course Yuji knew the song – but it wasn't the song itself that surprised him.
It was the fact that Fushiguro had actually picked it in the first place.
There was that one free evening that they had, when the whole cast decided to go out. It was nice, they all went to get dinner and grab a few drinks. Nobara was with them too and insisted on going to the club afterwards – hard no from Fushiguro, so they agreed on at least karaoke. Yuji was quite excited about that and it was exactly when he chose to sing 24K Magic. He got really into it as well – everything was well documented on Instagram by Kugisaki, but Yuji didn't mind. In fact, he had that video saved on his phone, because Fushiguro was in it as well, wheezing on the couch. That was a really rare sight, and it was exactly why he saved it in the first place. No other reason. Especially not because Megumi looked so pretty with dark bangs covering his squinted eyes, cheeks tinted red from the laughter and his nose scrunched and all.
The lights flashed Itadori a little and landed on the fake plane doors. They were slowly opening up, with the smoke pooling out, almost sliding off the stairs below. And oh, there he was. Fushiguro took a step out – his back a little hunched, a smug smirk on his face. His eyes were covered with sunglasses and he had a white snapback on. Additionally, he was wearing a red set with some gold accessories. There was a huge chain dangling from his neck, giant watch on his wrist, some rings–
Put your pinky rings up to the moon.
Oh.
Oh, damn.
When the hell did he manage to paint his nails? Did it really only take a few minutes? Or, did Yuji not notice them? No, no – he was sure they were not black when Megumi grabbed his arm earlier. He would've noticed for sure because they looked really good on him. Like – really, really good. Note taken, convince Fushiguro to start painting them regularly. Yuji will definitely mention that to Kugisaki later.
Fushiguro started taking steps down the stairs, moving his hips left and right to the music. A few dancers followed him too, repeating his moves in sync – the other ones were already circling all over the stage. With a smooth motion Megumi took the sunglasses off, biting his lower lip as he tucked them into the pocket of his shorts.
24-karat magic in the air,
head to toe.
He was right in the middle of the stage, legs spread wide as he lowered himself to a squat, moving his torso in a circular motion to the song's rhythm. It looked so smooth, so effortless – Megumi really looked like he belonged to the dance floor. It made Yuji smile.
With every single move, Fushiguro made sure to lip sync to the song. His feet slid against– boy, what the hell do you have on your feet? Yuji shook off the thought and continued watching his friend move so effortlessy before him. The gold necklace was bumping against his chest every now and then – it took and incredible amount of strength for Yuji not to look at the shiny skin revealed by the unbuttoned shirt. He failed miserably, but it was the attempt that counted, right?
"He's got some moves right there!" Takaba said, sending a wide grin to Yuji.
"Yeah, he does."
That was all Itadori could say, because it was hard for him to focus on anything else.
Second verse for the hustlers, gangsters,
bad bitches and your ugly ass friends.
Yuji's eyes were glued to Megumi's face when he was almost gliding across the stage with the dancers. His arms swung with every step forward, shooting upward to cover his mouth on the censored bitches and ass parts of the lyrics. He followed that up with a shrug each time and Yuji found himself smiling like a whole idiot, teeth and all, to the point of his cheeks actually hurting. He was bopping his body to the song, his heart breakdancing in his chest too, apparently.
First, take your sip,
do your dip.
It was a quick thought – even less than a thought, really – but it did pass his mind that he was up next. Yuji played off the shiver that thought sent down his spine by bumping his arm with Takaba.
Spend your money like money ain't shit.
Fushiguro put his hands up to pretend that he was throwing some money out on the stage, then suddenly he spinned around to face one of the dancers kneeling in front of him. He was holding up a mirror – and Yuji realised that only after Megumi was done checking himself out in it. The smug smirk on his face was back on when he took another spin and was now faced with–
Yuji.
He was going toward Yuji.
Megumi's hands slipped into his pockets and he skipped up the stairs to meet him face-to-face.
I'm a dangerous man with some money in my pocket,
"Keep up," Fushiguro mouthed the lyrics into Yujis face, tossing the – possibly – fake money above his head. Itadori laughed and moved his body with the music, feeling the paper slide off his arms a few times. Before Megumi took off to get back to the middle of the stage, he winked at him. It made Yuji almost choke on that laugh and he was left right there, wide-eyed on the stairs.
Put your pinky rings up to the moon.
The dancers were back there with him, now holding some golden foiled bottles in their hands. They were doing some jump steps together – from left to right. Their arms were swinging around in the air in circular motions to match up with the lyrics. The chorus was accompanied with – definitely – fake money falling on the stage and into the crowd, somewhere from the ceiling.
Fushiguro was focused on moving his hips to match up the beat. He didn't look tired at all, even though his face was a little shiny and Yuji noticed him opening up his mouth a little wider each time he took a breath in between the lyrics. He was probably the only one to notice that, but he didn't care.
The last beat of the song was followed by a loud pop, with Megumi doing finger guns at the golden confetti bursting out of the machine above the stage. He kneeled down, surrounded by his dancers and smirked again. The whole studio errupted, applause was almost louder than the music, which Yuji didn't quite expect. Megumi struck a few nonchalant-ish poses to the camera but quickly broke character after he heard people whistling at him. He got up, and with a heavy breath – he smiled.
It was a beautiful smile, Yuji had to admit. The green-blue of his eyes reflected the golden lights pointed at him and they were simply glowing. Dark bangs slipped out from under his hat, falling onto his forehead, so he brushed them off with the tips of his fingers, careful not to mess up the makeup. Yuji really liked whenever Megumi smiled with his teeth, scrunching up his nose. He looked so similar to how he did on that karaoke night and, oh, he really couldn't resist it.
Itadori almost jumped off the few stairs that he was standing on and rushed to Fushiguro, who was now facing him with even a wider smile than just a second ago. He tried taking a step toward Yuji, but wasn't really fast enough and was locked into a hug right where he was standing. The white snapback fell down from his head immediately when Itadori bumped into him. They both laughed loudly and jumped up a few times, still holding each other. Megumi almost slipped on the printed money beneath their feet – and if it wasn't for Takaba who caught his arm, he would've taken Yuji down with him.
"What a magnificent performance!" Takaba yelled out and the audience cheered loudly with him. "Itadori Yuji, do you think you've got what it takes to beat it?"
Yuji looked around, his eyes drifting to where Gojo sat with Nobara. Well, not really sat anymore. He was actually up, almost jumping out of excitement, with his phone in one hand – probably recording the whole thing. He used the other hand to whistle through his fingers, probably annoying Kugisaki by doing so, judging by the face she was making. Still, she was clapping along and nodded to Yuji once their eyes met.
Itadori turned back to face Takaba and let go of Fushiguro. His heart was poundnig so hard, he could feel it through his skin. He could hear it banging against this eardrums – with the pressure spreading to the middle of his face, hiding behind his eyes.
But still, he was an actor.
"We're gonna have to find out," he smirked
He was an actor, who was down bad for his co-star – and he really wanted to win anyway.
Itadori was given the same amount of time as Fushiguro to get ready, so as soon as he was clear to go, he pretty much ran off the stage to get to the dressing room as fast as possible. He had to squeeze into tight, fake leather shorts, and since he was really sweaty – the running obviously didn't help – that was going to be a challenge. He had to get some help with them anyway and rushed to put on the biggest nightmare he ever had to wear. The corset. Honestly, even the Spider-Man suit wasn't that bad, even though it was literally non-functional and Yuji had to have assistance on his trips to the bathroom.
To top off his costume for the performance, he had to put on a suit over it before going on stage. It was made specifically for Yuji to be able to rip it off in between the song switch – for which he had like eight seconds – but that didn't change the fact that he was going to be insanely uncomfortable at the beginning.
And he was.
And he will be for the rest of the performance, because the shorts were gripping his thighs at a weird angle, the tights were just uncomfortable to wear and the corset was squeezing his ribs, making it harder to breathe. The collar of the shirt he had on was scratching his neck because of the damn tie that was way too tight, the wig he had on was making his whole head itchy and he swore he was going to rip his hair out if the music won't start immediately.
Yuji was staring at the huge city-like prop in front of him, eyeing his own silhouette that was lit by way softer lights than before. Not for long, but he allowed himself to enjoy the moment while it lasted. The whole scene was rather dark, without as many props as Fushiguro had – which was for the better probably, because if the water awaiting for him wouldn't make him slip, he would definitely trip on one of them.
Even though Itadori's ears couldn't really register the chaos in the crowd and how loud it was, the second the melody started and the studio began to quiet down, he could almost feel it – with the way his body immediately relaxed and how the annoyance escaped just a tiny bit.
Yuji swung around the umbrella he was holding and turned to face the crowd. It was a simple start, really. Not counting the outfit straight from hell that he had picked himself. He was taking step after step, moving to the right side of the stage and making sure to move his hips smoothly, just like he was taught to.
I'm singin' in the rain,
just singin' in the rain.
He slid even more to the right side, swirling the umbrella around in his hands again, followed by his right foot pushed off the ground and setting Yuji in motion to spin himself around.
One.
Don't slip
Two.
Don't slip.
Three.
Don't slip.
He completed the triple pirouette and almost cheered with the crowd. Yuji felt a smile creep up on his face but he quickly brushed it off and continued his steps to get to the lantern.
I'm happy again.
There was water – or rather mist – coming out of the little tube set at the top of the prop, glistening in the light of the white bulb. He knew that. Of course Yuji knew that. But the knowledge didn't make the leap to catch the metal in his hand any easier, because it was simply slippery. He felt his grip falter slightly as he spun himself around the lantern, with a constant don't slip don't slip don't slip bouncing around his skull.
He didn't slip.
A few last steps and that was it – the end of part one. That was what Itadori's dance coach always told him, before making him regret every single one of his life decisions with the training.
Yuji nodded toward the crowd and backed out to hide behind the black umbrellas behind him, held by the dancers. The music continued to play and he started to count the seconds in his head as he squeezed in between the girls. He quickly tore off his jacket, someone yanked the sleeve from his arm. The hat he had on flew off somewhere. Did the throw that?
One of the dancers grabbed his face and put red lipstick on his lips, the other one flattened out the black wig he had on. Just as he was slipping on the bands with white ruffles onto his wrists, he heard the music drop. The time was up, Yuji needed to go now.
I can't believe I'm doing this, he thought.
Itadori took a deep breath and reached his hand to grab the umbrella that was being passed to him.
You have my heart,
and we'll never be worlds apart.
As he was entering the stage, Yuji glanced to the side where he'd supposed Fushiguro would be too – in front of the cameras, to catch his reactions. And he wasn't wrong. Megumi stood right there, next to Takaba. Both of his hands were covering his mouth, eyes wide with pure shock. Takaba however, he was clearly having so much fun – clapping his hands and laughing like a maniac.
Well, there was no backing out now. Yuji took a few steps back from the middle of the stage, sliding his free arm over his body – from the hips through his chest. His coach told him it would be sexy, so he tried his best, though it felt ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Wait, actually was it really that ridiculous? Yuji thought it didn't really suit him much – he was wearing a corset with leather shorts that squeezed his booty, after all. And even though he obviously was able to act it out, he was still so damn nervous before – to get on that stage, to mess around, to let Fushiguro see him do all of this. Yet, something changed somehow, and as he was taking the next steps, surrounded by the dancers, Yuji felt so alive.
Because,
when the sun shine, we shine together.
That part was carved out in his brain by the endless training sessions he'd put himself through, and now, on that stage – he was enjoying it. Yuji rolled his hips with the beat, kinda like tracing an infinity sign, like his coach taught him. The umbrella was moving with him, dipping toward the floor before he brought it back up.
One second, he was crouching before the crowd screaming his name, the next – he was already back in the middle of the stage, dropping back down again with the umbrella between his legs.
He really was enjoying that, more than he'd anticipated.
Clearly.
Originally, he agreed to that idea only because he thought it was funny. And it was, right?
But then, back when his mom called and Yuji told her about the dance, the costume, the choreography and the whole entire thing – laughing as he tried explaining it well enough – he actually had lost the enthusiasm a little when she didn't laugh along at first.
He loved his mom very much and he knew she loved him too – but the tone of her voice when she told Yuji to carefully think this through made him a little worried. He also knew that she was just concerned, like every mother would be, so nothing too dramatic, right? She cheered him on anyway, told him that she'd be watching the show when it airs and how proud of him she was.
But that slight hesitation still lingered there, somewhere, and was probably the reason for every single doubt that Itadori had about the performance.
You can stand under my umbrella.
Hell, he was an actor. An entertainer. And who cared, anyway? If the whole world was going to know his name for years to come, if the entire Internet was going to post thousands of pictures of him, if every single news station was going to talk about Itadori Yuji, then he might as well give them a good show, when he was being unapologetically himself.
Because, after all, that was exactly what he'd always done best.
Yuji slid down the umbrella to the floor, thrusting his hips into it. With the corner of his eye, he caught Fushiguro – with his jaw almost on the floor and one hand reached out dramatically toward Itadori.
A light bulb almost materialised over Yuji's head as he was swirling his hips to get down on the floor, right in front of the crowd reaching their hands to him. It was like in cartoons – when a character gets an idea and smiles into the camera. Yuji almost laughed out loud. During the bridge, he was supposed to be dancing between the girls onstage, keeping up the choreo.
Well.
Spider-Man and MJ. Yuji and Megumi. They were a team, right?
You can run into my arms,
Yuji turned around.
It's okay, don't be alarmed,
He pointed a finger straight at Fushiguro and made his way to him up the stairs, making sure to keep moving his hips in the correct way, with his back arched and a cocky smile tugging at his lips. Takaba was almost wheezing on the floor, but Yuji didn't care. He wasn't there for him.
"Come into me, there's no distance between our love," mouthing the words just like Fushiguro did to him earlier, he placed the umbrella in Megumi's hand.
For a brief moment, he just stared at Itadori. Then, with a smooth turn Yuji got closer to him, closing the distance between them, until his back was almost pressed against Megumi's chest. He slid down against the warmth of his body – a quick roll of his hips to the left, and he was back up, face-to-face with Megumi.
The studio was extremely loud. Yuji could barely hear the music over the loud cheers and his own heartbeat pounding in his ears like a drum.
He turned away from Fushiguro with a satisfied grin that he really couldn't hide, and made his way back to the centre of the stage. He could still feel the warmth of Megumi's body against his back, could still see the look on his face, and somehow that only made the whole thing so much more entertaining – with his heart racing and ears turning red and hot.
So gonna let the rain pour,
I'll be all you need and more–
Right there, he was all alone in the middle of the stage, with droplets of water beginning to drip onto the ground and bouncing off his bare arms.
Very cold water, holy shit he did not expect that. He knew it was coming, yes. He'd rehearsed with effects, knew exactly where the water would come from and roughly when it would start, but knowing that and actually feeling the icy needles dig into his warm skin – during the actual performance – those were two very different things.
The rain started to intensify just as the bridge of the song was coming to an end, and the dancers started stepping in to their positions all around Yuji.
He wished he could see Fushiguro's face.
He hoped he was laughing the exact same way as he did during that karaoke night.
"Because!"
Yuji screamed the lyrics into his fist, pretending to be holding a microphone. The newly gained confidence was rushing through his entire body, mixed with hot blood and pure adrenaline. Don't slip. He skipped to the left, outstretching his arms, then right, up, up. Yuji pushed his foot off the ground, making his body spin and immediately dropping down to his knees. Pushing his entire weight into the movement, he bounced his hand off the ground, splashing the freezing water straight into his face.
The crowd was going absolutely insane. Yuji could hear them even through the strange muffling sensation he'd heard earlier – the one that accompanied him through the entire performance. Their voices were blending together into an enormous wave of sound that seemed to rise every time he hit another part of the choreo.
He rolled his shoulders and let his hips follow, throwing himself into another pirouette with the dancers moving right beside him. Yuji held his breath, dipped down low and bounced his whole body off the ground, to stand on one hand for a second. He jumped back on his feet with a tingling sensation in his chest, careful not to slip. That would hurt a lot if he fell down now. Both his body and soul.
His shorts were still tight, just as uncomfortable as the tights, the corset was still digging into his ribs, and the wig was all wet and sticking to his face with every single movement. The bright stage lights were blinding him, but–
He was having so much fun – like a kid on the playground, running around with friends, chasing each other until they were all out of breath, until their tummies hurt from exhaustion.
Yuji was moving with even more energy than he'd managed during the rehearsals. He didn't care if he looked ugly or pretty, or sexy. Nor did he care about his outfit looking ridiculous or not, or whether it even showed on the camera how much of the material was straight up in his ass crack.
He swung his arms twice and threw his body into a spin once again, this time with a jump.
Don't. Slip.
Perfect landing.
You can stand under my umbrella.
Water seemed to be pouring even harder now, every single piece of material he had on his body was clinging to his skin, the makeup he had on was probably far from perfect, the shoes must've given him blisters, but again – so much fun.
And the lights, even though they were way too bright – they caught every drop of water in the air, turning the fake rain into thousands of tiny sparks around him, while the sparklers began shining above his head. Some of their own sparks were falling on the ground around him and the dancers, looking like little explosions, dissolving quickly in the water beneath Yuji's feet.
It must've looked spectacular – like they were all dancing in a storm.
With everything that Itadori had left in him, he threw himself into the last section of the choreography. He was on the floor again, throwing his feet in the air, only to find himself a second later on all fours – moving his head in full circles so hard that the wig caught the water on the ground, splashing it around. He followed soon after with his hand, same movement, same force.
Yuji decided to freestyle a bit, but who wouldn't? So much was happening, and he was so deeply invested into the dance, he just had to. His hands were sliding all over his body – legs, chest, face. He swung around his head to hopefully push the wet hair away from his eyes, and surprisingly it did work. He bit his lip, then his finger, winked into the camera in the meantime and he really couldn't control himself. His shoulders were moving in sync with the hips, making him almost crawl on that stage.
The song was coming to an end – last ella snapped him out of the trance and he jumped back up. Yuji breathed some air harshly through the nose and flipped his body forward with probably way too much force. He slammed himself against the wet floor alongside the dancers and –ouch.
Heavy huffs were escaping his mouth and Yuji's chest hurt so bad he could barely manage to breathe. But he didn't slip. With a huge grin plastered on his face, he slowly pushed himself back up and walked forward to bow deeply right at the edge of the stage. He was absolutely soaked and certain that he was going to take a few days to recover from that.
The rounds of applause were shaking the entire studio, with loud cheers and whistles weaved in between clapping hands. Itadori looked around, catching a glimpse of Kugisaki shaking Gojo's arm, other hand pointing at Yuji. But he had a bit of a different priority now. Turning his whole body around, he was met with Fushiguro heading his way with Takaba.
Yeah, that was worth it.
Because Megumi had one hand clutching his tummy, his hair was a huge mess – he probably tugged at it at least a few times. His eyes were still slightly squinted, but they were glowing and Yuji could tell even from that distance. Fushiguro looked genuinely so happy, with his nose scrunched and all. Even if it turned out that Itadori made a complete idiot out of himself, he would do it again and again, just to see Megumi smile like that.
Their eyes met and for a split second they just stared at each other, with neither of them daring to move. The deafening applause and excited voices of the crowd were fading out into something distand as Yuji stood there dripping wet, with hair strands plastered to his forehead and chest still heaving from exhaustion – looking at Fushiguro with a grin tugging at his lips.
Then Megumi moved.
One second he was standing beside Takaba, the next one he was already mindlessly rushing through the stage to get Yuji, messy hair bouncing all around his face. It was as if they switched places, Fushiguro was moving in the same way Yuji did after his performance before.
Yuji's grin widened and he barely had enough time to open up his arms before Fushiguro reached him – or rather launched himself at him. He wrapped both arms tightly around Yuji's waist, not caring about the dripping water and wet splotches appearing on his red shirt. However, the launch had enough force for Itadori to stumble backwards on the slippery floor – his soaked shoes slid, making him lose his balance. Since Megumi threw himself forward, there was no way for him to recover from that either, and Takaba was not there this time to help them either. Well, he was there, just not close enough.
Yuji slipped.
Both of their bodies lurched sideways. Yuji instinctively tightened his arms around Megumi while Megumi tried grabbing Yuji's corset. For one, very long second, there was a desperate attempt to regain the balance without letting go of each other – that attempt was failed spectacularly. Yuji's feet flew out from underneath him, taking Megumi down as well and the two of them crashed down onto the wet floor.
A wave of cheers and laughter errupted in the entire studio again, accompanied by Takaba's hysterical wheezes into the microphone. He was probably going to say something, but was clearly interrupted by their fall. And among all the noise, their eyes found each other again, amber gold meeting emerald green, sunset meeting the ocean. Neither of them said anything – but Megumi's lips twitched first. He did attempt to hold back that smile for a moment, failing quickly and bursting into laughter.
Yuji couldn't help it – he followed up with the laughter, loud and breathless, his whole body shaking underneath Megumi as they both tried to catch their breaths.
"Well," Takaba's amused voice suddenly filled the whole room through the microphone. "I believe that concludes tonight's demonstration of what happens when you combine professional choreography, artificial rainfall, pyrotechnics, and absolutely no regard for basic floor safety," he gestured toward both Yuji and Megumi still sprawled across the floor.
The audience cheered again as Takaba clapped his hands and approached them.
"So," he crouched down, stretching the word in a melodic way. He smirked to the camera, pointing at Megumi first, "who thinks MG deserves the belt?"
Megumi pushed himself up slightly, looking around at the crowd as the cheers and whistles continued, and Yuji couldn't help but smile at the proud little glint that appeared in his eyes. They waited for the noise to thin out, before Takaba spoke again.
"Now," he stretched the word again. "Who thinks Spider-Man deserves the belt?"
The noise that came of the audience was so loud that it made Yuji flinch. There were screams and cries, and whistles, and he couldn't see what was happening below the stage because of the lights, but he just knew that it was crazy down there. He occasionally saw some hands swirling in the air, he could feel the stage vibrating from the jumps, and wow. Yuji just didn't expect that.
With his jaw dropped to the floor, he turned to face Megumi once again.
"Hey," he whispered with a smile. "you were amazing, Spider-Man."
