Katana stood outside the door to Hyperlaser's apartment. The jacket he wore barely helped him stay warm, as he recovered from the overwhelming cold of Blackrock's never ending snow. He knocked a couple of times, and the door opened a few seconds afterwards. Hyperlaser stood on the other side.
"Good to see you made it here alive." Hyperlaser's voice lacked noticeable emotion, though Katana could tell Hyperlaser was happy to see him. Without a further word, Hyperlaser opened the door wider and gestured for Katana to come in. Hyperlaser closed the door gently after Katana entered.
"I'll make some tea for us... it shouldn't take too long. Let me know if you need anything else." Hyperlaser walked off, presumably to the kitchen.
Katana quietly sat down on the couch. He laid in silence and peace for a few minutes, until the silence was broken by a scratchy meow, which was a tad bit muffled.
Katana sat up. He looked around the barely decorated apartment for a few seconds before spotting a slightly pudgy blob from the corner of his vision, which slowly came up to where he was standing. Katana stood in place, mildly confused. When the blob finally stood in front of him, Katana saw a tiny little cat with black fur and a blue collar that had a gold bell. The cat held a green toy mouse in it's mouth as it continued to meow at him.
"Well, hello..." Katana sat on his knees. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
The cat dropped it's toy, went silent for a few seconds, and then let out another scratchy meow.
"Did you want to show someone your mouse?" Katana asked, only getting another scratchy meow in response.
Katana slightly reached out his hand. "Is it alright if I pet you?"
The cat walked up to Katana's hand and leaned it's head into it. The creature began purring quietly. Katana smiled under his mask and began petting it.
"You're rather friendly."
Yet another meow from the cat... how surprising.
The cycle of Katana saying something with the cat replying continued. It went on for a few minutes with no interruption. That was, until Hyperlaser walked back into the room with two mugs of tea in each hand.
"...what are you doing."
Katana looked up at Hyperlaser, then stood up, slightly embarrassed. "Is this little creature the cat you said you had?"
Hyperlaser nodded plainly. "That would be correct."
"What is it's name?"
"Her name is Princess."
"What a lovely name for a lovely little lady."
Hyperlaser set the mugs of tea down on the coffee table, before sitting down on the soft couch, which had a few throw pillows and a blanket draped over the back. Princess looked over at Hyperlaser, and immediately jumped on the couch and crawled onto Hyperlaser's lap. Princess meowed once again.
"You're such a little baby..." Hyperlaser said to Princess in a slightly baby-ish voice. He began patting Princess on the back, causing Princess to start kneading and purring.
Katana watched in amusement as he sat down next to Hyperlaser. He took his mask off and drank some of the tea.
"She looks spoiled."
"She is."
Princess walked onto Katana's lap and meowed at him, demanding pets. Katana obliged, and began petting her. "You're lucky to have a little creature like her."
"I know..."
