Work Text:
Of all of Lena's nefarious plans, this one was her magnum opus.
Everything was going according to plan. Lena waited until a full moon so that her magic would be its most powerful. All that was left was one simple thing: a single touch.
The love spell came from… less than savoury sources. Lena had been forced to bribe a hedge witch for the thaumaturgical circle she had to replicate; that bribe being her favourite purse and a few enchanted tokens. But! The witch who sold it to her was reliable and Lena considered the steep price just added insurance.
With the circle drawn and the meeting place ready, Lena just needed to get her hands on Miu.
Ugh. Miu. The bane of Lena's very existence.
Was there anyone so infuriating as her? Even the stench of Miu's perfume was enough to irritate Lena for hours on end — you could hardly blame her considering the smell lingered well after Miu left the room.
Lena wouldn't go as far as to say she hated Miu. That would be giving the witch far too much credit. No, Lena just… disdained her. She found that it was far better to stay well away from Miu for both their sakes.
Speaking of which…
Class was about to begin. Ghouls, goblins and all manner of supernatural creatures were taking their respective seats throughout the room. Lena had claimed one of the window seats earlier in the school year; she loved watching the clouds float on by outside. Besides, who would argue with a witch? You'd have a better shot wrestling with a werewolf.
Pencil in hand, Lena was pretending to sketch in the margins of her notebook as she waited. Student after student trickled in, yet she had yet to arrive.
It wasn't like Lena was nervous or anything. She knew the plan would come to fruition. She just… hated waiting. She just wanted results.
The hairs on the back of Lena's neck stood on end.
Glancing up from the page, Lena already knew what she would see: Miu had walked into the classroom. Hair perfectly blown-out, makeup perfect, clothes that only accentuated her figure. Lena chose to believe that Miu's gorgeous appearance was entirely because of magical intervention and modification.
As usual, looking at Miu made Lena's whole body burn. Out of rage, of course. Her face felt warm just looking at Miu sauntering over to her.
You know what bothered Lena the most? Miu would smile at every single classmate. She would do so with such ease that it felt genuine. But the second her gaze landed on Lena, that polite expression would melt from her face and curdle into a scowl.
She reserved such a wretched expression for no one except Lena.
Sure enough, Miu caught Lena's gaze and immediately dropped her smile. She looked like she even stopped breathing as she came to a brief stop.
Lena scoffed before looking away. As if she wanted to look at Miu for a moment longer.
The graphite scratched against the paper as Lena sketched absentmindedly. Her hands felt like they were moving on their own. She could feel Miu walking over to her as she drew a long, slow stroke that formed the stem of a flower.
She felt Miu sit in the empty seat beside her like a stone dropping into a river; a small action but one Lena felt throughout her whole being.
Lena mused, "Should I be flattered that you're sitting next to me?"
"There were no other seats," Miu replied in that curt tone.
Not even a hint of warmth leftover for Lena. She scoffed and muttered, "Whatever."
She caught the scent of Miu's perfume. The one she always wore: the Chanel one. Lena knew the top notes by heart now: citrus, patchouli and rose. She could feel her head swimming in the smell of it already.
Despite how much she disliked Miu, she found her breathing deepened since the other woman sat down.
Class began the moment their teacher walked in. It was about vampiric biology but Lena couldn't care less. She had better things to hold her attention such as her master plan. This had to work. She only had two days left.
The witching covens all gathered during the summer solstice for a singular purpose: to select an apprentice out of a pool of young, talented witches. Only the brightest ones were recruited. Most of the time, there are far too many witches wanting to be selected and not enough covens actually interested. Couple that with the shortage of covens with actual prestige to them and… well, Lena knew that she couldn't squander this chance.
Lena wasn't blessed with money or the right bloodline — not like Miu.
Miu had everything. She didn't even need to become an apprentice, her family could support her in anything she did. And her family came from a coven so ancient that other witches recognised it by name alone. Yet she still insisted on competing with Lena.
Lena, who had nothing. Lena, who had to study and scrape for everything she had. Lena, who's only chance at success and pride in life was through an apprenticeship.
The same apprenticeship that Miu intended on stealing from her.
That didn't matter, of course, because Lena's plan to charm her out of competing would work. The love spell would work.
But how exactly would Lena get her hands on Miu?
Time ticked on. Lena could feel her itching palms, the sweat dripping down her spine and the anxiety coiling in her stomach. Her hands were still occupied with whatever she was sketching. Miu was still beside her diligently taking notes, unaware of the doom approaching her.
What would Miu even look like in love? She always looked at Lena with such a bored, irritated expression. Would she finally smile at her? Would her eyes crinkle up into crescent-moons and would she flash Lena those pretty teeth as she smiled?
Suddenly, the idea of Miu liking her made Lena nauseous. Even if it was only because of a love spell and the feelings were artificial. Should she really be doing this to her?
"I'm not sure what roses have to do with exsanguination," Miu suddenly said.
Frowning, Lena's eyes adjusted and she looked down at the page below her. She had been sketching out a dozen different roses. She wasn't sure why.
Lena cleared her throat and said, "Maybe it's my artistic representation of the act. Or maybe you should learn to mind your own business."
It didn't have the bite Lena was hoping for. She felt like she had been declawed by this whole situation. Oh gods, what if Miu started flirting with her—
"It's definitely a full moon tonight if you're this agitated."
"I'm completely fine." Lena snapped, "Considering the coven selection is right around the corner, maybe you should focus on yourself instead of my notebook."
Miu tossed her hair over her shoulder and replied, "I'm not worried about that."
Indignation bubbled up inside of Lena once more. Her ethical qualms over the love spell were gone now. She turned to sneer at Miu, saying, "Of course not. Why would you have to worry when you were born with a gold spoon?"
Miu let out a sigh before saying, "Here we go again."
Lena asked, "What? Can't I talk about it? Are you denying that you're a pedigree?"
Gripping her pencil a little too tight, Miu argued back, "That has nothing to do with my abilities—"
Cutting her off, Lena said, "Keep telling yourself that. If I had half the opportunities you have—"
"You would still find a way to complain and make me the villain," Miu snarled back.
Class went on around them but the two girl were trapped in their little bubble. During their argument, they had turned around completely to face each other and were inches away from touching. Lena's mind was far away from her original plan. She was too preoccupied with Miu's infuriating words and that arrogant look on her face. Lena hated that downward curl in Miu's lips whenever they argued, the obvious sign of Miu's displeasure.
On instinct, Lena reached out and grabbed onto Miu's bicep—
Before she realised what she had done. She was touching Miu. The last piece of the love spell. Lena had made this bed and now she would have to sleep in it, consequences and all.
She stared at Miu with an alarmed expression. She searched every centimetre of Miu's face to find any changes. It should have locked into place by now. Lena could feel her anger dissipating as she searched Miu's face for something. A love-sick expression, a flirty gaze, a sudden declaration of love—
"Get your hand off of me before I hex your eyebrows off," Miu hissed as she shrugged off Lena's touch.
Well.
Lena felt like she couldn't breathe. She watched as Miu rolled her eyes before focusing back on the lesson. It was as if nothing had changed in her. There's no sudden interest in Lena's being, no puppy-love, no sudden desire to please Lena and bend to her every whim.
Miu did not look at Lena again.
What the fuck?
The spell should have worked. Lena did everything right! Yet clearly something went wrong because Miu seemed just as indifferent to her as she always was.
Oh, Lena was getting a refund from that hedge witch the second school was over.
"You're staring," Miu noted.
Lena wasn't even sure how she noticed this considering Miu's attention was squarely on her notebook. She stammered out, "I-I'm not."
She was staring, of course. She was watching the curve of Miu's ear to see if she blushed. She judged the slope of her chest to see if the rise and fall quickened. And she stared at Miu's lips for… similar reasons. But Miu did not need to know any of this so Lena just denied it all.
Miu huffed, saying, "I can feel you staring at me."
"And…" Lena tested the waters, asking, "how does that make you feel?"
Something magical happened.
For once, Miu's aloof and distant exterior melted away. Her whole body tensed up as she shot Lena a side eye. Quietly, almost paranoid, Miu muttered, "I don't care."
Her cheeks were a little pink. Lena zeroed in on this new shade colouring Miu's cheeks. She leaned forward and dropped her voice down into something sultry, asking, "Not even a little bit?"
Miu immediately leaned away from her. With an all-too familiar glare in place, Miu asked, "Why are you being so weird today?"
"You're the one being weird." Lena stated matter-of-factly, adding, "Look at me."
She had never commanded Miu before; she never had a reason to. They had been rivals since they laid eyes on each other during the entrance exam. Lena knew that Miu would never follow her orders and vice versa. But something electric was in the air in that moment.
The spell had not worked. But something else was afoot.
It would be going too far to say that Miu moved obediently. Rather, she laid down her pen down and looked at Lena as if forced to. As if just looking at Lena in her eyes was akin to having her teeth pulled. Lena saw nothing but defiance in Miu's gaze.
Nothing has changed. There was no less contempt in Miu's eyes as they travelled over Lena's face. Her body was still leaning away from Lena. And she still broke eye contact with Lena after a moment too long.
Wouldn't someone in love want to look at the object of their affections? Wouldn't they lean in? Wouldn't they blush and flirt and show any kind of interest in the other person?
The spell definitely did not work.
"Miu," she murmured.
"Lena," Miu murmured back.
Lena tilted her head and asked, "If you have the chance to out-do me at the selection, will you take it?"
The response from Miu was immediate: "In a heart beat. Why would you ever expect me to pull my punches?"
This was a disaster. Lena was down a beloved purse with nothing to show for it. Her plan had well and truly backfired. At this rate, she would never get an apprenticeship over Miu and she'd be stuck as a hedge witch for the rest of her life. Forget disaster, this was a nightmare.
Lena pinched the bridge of her nose, inhaled deeply before looking out the window. She needed to think. To think about anything that wasn't Miu, the apprenticeship, the stupid love spell or the fact that Miu was suddenly staring at her.
Still watching the clouds pass by, Lena asked, "Now who's staring?"
Her body was far too attuned to Miu's; she felt Miu startle for a moment before her body swiveled around to face the front. Lena didn't even smirk at this small victory in a battle of wills. She was too busy brooding and plotting her next move.
The roses were in full bloom on the page beneath her hand. She still didn't know why she drew them.
Lena dinged the reception bell multiple times, announcing, "I want my stuff back, your spell didn't work."
The hedge witch stared at her with a bored expression and said, "That's not possible."
As expected, she did not seem sympathetic to Lena's cause. Lena had raced to the hedge witch's shop the moment school had ended for the day. Her encounter with Miu was still fresh in her mind and Lena was still licking her wounds from that debacle.
The witch in question had been in the middle of watching some serialised drama on her laptop. Lena only saw glimpses of the screen — something about a Siberian Husky and a red Ferrari? How strange.
She paused her weird show and gave her full attention to Lena.
Crossing her arms with a huff, Lena said, "I did everything like you said to. My circle was perfectly traced and the only person I laid hands on was her. But nothing happened. I want a refund or—"
"Or what? You'll report me to the council?" The witch asked sarcastically, adding, "You know that hedge witches don't answer to anyone but themselves and the Great Laws."
Lena groaned at this. She knew that the witch was right. Coven witches were beholden to coven law and customs. They always had someone above them that they must answer to. But hedge witches, as she said, were far more free in their practice.
Besides, there was no way that Lena was going to go through legal channels to get her bag back. She lost this round. Yet another loss she had earned today.
"Why do you think it didn't work?" The witch eventually asked.
"Because there's no change!" Lena snapped, "She still wants to compete against me and she still hates my guts. This is the exact opposite of what I asked for."
Her outburst did not faze the witch. Keeping that bored intonation to her voice, she said, "Look, there's only two reasons why the spell wouldn't work. The first is that you did it wrong—"
"Which I didn't," Lena chirped.
"—the second," she continued, looking annoyed that she was interrupted, "is that your target is already in love with someone."
Lena paused.
Miu… in love with someone? It was more likely that hell would freeze over tonight.
The witch explained, "The heart is both a fickle creature and a steadfast loyalist. If there is no room in your target's heart for you, then the spell cannot carve a space inside it. The heart can't be persuaded to love someone else so easily. So that's my guess on why it failed."
The idea just didn't make sense in Lena's mind. She argued, "But Miu isn't in love with anyone. She has a bunch of friends but I've never seen her flirt with anyone."
Ugh, the idea of Miu flirting with someone made Lena's skin crawl. Because she didn't want Miu to be happy… yeah.
"That's your problem." The witch said with a shrug, "Anyway, you're not getting a refund. You got what you asked for. Sue me and take it up with the judge."
And just like that, the witch resumed her show and never gave Lena her attention again.
Lena was furious enough the chew through a pair of jeans as she let the theory resonate in her mind. Who on earth was Miu in love with, if she was at all? There was not a single person that came to mind. Miu was likely to most popular, beautiful and academically excellent girl in the entire school — aside from Lena, of course. There was no one that came even close to matching Miu.
Who could be good enough for Miu's attention and affection? Who the fuck was ruining Lena's plans and her day just by existing?
The Next Day
Coven selection would be upon Lena in almost a day. The anxiety she expected from this impending event had been dulled by more pressing issues. Lena decided that she was going to ace the selection by her own merit, love spell and nefarious plans be damned.
What could be more pressing that an apprenticeship that decided Lena's future success in life?
Oh, just the humble question of who the fuck was Miu in love with?
Lena hardly slept last night. This question haunted her well into the wee hours of the morning. Lena tossed and turned, agonised and theorised until the sun came up. If there were bags under her eyes, no one was foolish enough to point it out anyway.
She had a singular mission today: find Miu and confront. Lena didn't bother attend her alchemy class. She skipped it knowing that today was Thursday, which meant that Miu would have this whole period just to study for their upcoming midterms.
Don't ask why Lena knew Miu's schedule by heart. She just did.
Anyway, Lena ended up finding Miu tucked away in the school's library of all places. She found Miu reading the latest edition of some thaumaturgical magazine she was apparently subscribed to. Not exactly studying.
Miu hadn't noticed Lena approaching. She did not bother to sit down in any of the empty chairs surrounding Miu — she's too irritated for that. Instead, Lena drawled, "Since when do you come to the library?"
With a terribly cute expression, Miu startled and glared up at Lena. Even the way her eyebrows scrunched up together was pretty. Life was so unfair to give so many blessings to one person.
Miu huffed and asked, "What do you want, Lena? I'm busy."
She tore her gaze from Lena to continue reading her stupid magazine. Lena felt a surge of irritation rush through her. Fine. If that's how Miu wanted to be…
"Who are you in love with?" Lena asked abruptly.
It was a beautiful sight: Miu immediately lost colour in her cheeks, her eyes went wide and she stared at Lena like a criminal caught red-handed. It felt good to have Miu's attention back on her.
"W-What?" Miu asked, halfway between actual confusion and denial.
"No seriously, who are you in love with?" Lena continued, adding, "The only way you could've deflected my love spell is if you're in love but you literally don't like anyone like that. So what gives?"
"What are you talking about?" Miu asked incredulously, "You put a love spell on me?"
Lena waved her off, briefly saying, "I tried to. Yesterday. That's not the important part."
"Uh, actually, I think that's super important," Miu corrected her sharply.
Groaning, Lena rushed out an explanation: "Ugh, it's not a big deal. I wanted to charm you into letting me win at the selection tomorrow using a love spell. But it didn't work. And the hedge witch I bought that damn circle from said that unless I fucked up the circle, the only thing that could block the spell is you being in love. Which is crazy because you don't like anyone like that. I would know."
Miu stared at her. She stared at her for so long that Lena was almost worried she had been hexed unknowingly. Then she blinked and Lena could breathe again.
"I'm getting a headache," Miu said as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
Lena was unconcerned about Miu's cranial issues. Unrelenting in her quest for answers, Lena said, "I'll ask again: who is it?"
Miu glared at her with the fury of a thousand suns and snapped, "I-It's none of your business who I like!"
The stutter drove Lena to madness. She could feel her eye twitching. Who the fuck made Miu so defense about her feelings that she was stuttering? Hello? Since when did Miu stutter… ever?
Gods damn it all, the hedge witch had been right: Miu was definitely in love with someone else. She was the reason the love spell didn't take. As usual, Miu was the foil to every single one of Lena's carefully laid out schemes.
"So you do like someone." Lena stated, almost seething as she asked, "Who?"
Miu crossed her arms, saying, "I'm not having this conversation with you."
Lena ranted on anyway and listed off ideas, "It's not any of your friends, I know that much. You don't hang out with other people outside of school. You're popular but you hardly have any social media presence and you have like six people's numbers in your contact list."
She came to realise in that moment that she really, really didn't like the idea of Miu being in love with someone. She just didn't understand why it was bothering her so much. Shouldn't Lena be pleased if someone else held Miu's vile attention for once?
Staring at Lena like she had grown a new head, Miu asked, "…How do you know all of this?"
Heat pooled in Lena's cheeks at the sudden question. She quietly murmured, "Because I pay attention. I'm a great investigator. Duh."
"Since when do you pay that much attention to me?" Miu asked.
"I always have, dummy. You're, like, my only competition in this school. I've got to keep ahead of you somehow," Lena quickly answer, although the words sounded weak even to her own ears.
Her proverbial ears drooping, Miu asked, "Is that the only reason why you pay attention to me?"
What was that sad, pitiful expression on Miu's face? Lena couldn't help but frown at her. What were her words even supposed to mean? Was she supposed to pay attention to Miu for any other reasons? Since why did Miu get sad because of something Lena had done? Since the two had known each other, Lena and Miu butted heads, fought, argued, and went their seperate ways with no deviation. They were like magnets in that sense.
Somehow, some way, Lena always found her way back into Miu's horrid orbit.
Still looking up at Lena with that sorrowful expression, Miu said, "Can you just go, Lena? Just leave me alone and—"
Lena became deaf to Miu's next words. A crazy thought had popped into her mind. It was an outlandish, insane, impossible idea. But the idea was too intriguing not to explore further.
She leaned herself down low next to Miu until their faces were inches apart. In a way that she had never done before, Lena stared down at the younger girl. Miu could only stare up at her in return, open-mouthed and wide-eyed. Her cheeks turned scarlet from the proximity and she leaned right away from Lena. In return, Lena slowly leaned further into her space once more, knowing Miu could only get so far sitting down like this.
Lena had her trapped.
"W-What are you doing?" Miu stammered out.
Lena cocked her head to the side, saying, "Testing a theory."
Her eyes roamed all over Miu's face and body. She caught every little detail at this distance. The heavy breathing. Glancing at Lena's lips. Avoiding eye contact. Fidgeting. Dilated pupils—
?!
Lena had been looking in all the wrong places. She knew that people in love would show it. They'd flirt, they'd get in the other person's personal space, they would show all the classic signs of a person smitten and giddy. Unless… they were hiding it.
"Miu," Lena purred. "Is it… me?"
Now this got a reaction out of her. Miu snapped her book shut and made a move to leave, standing up and nearly knocking over her own chair. She was seething as she said, "I already told you I'm not having this conversation with you."
Lena's heart could have exploded out of her chest at this point. She clapped her hands together and said, "That's why the love spell didn't work! Because you're already in love with me, right? I knew I did the spell right."
Mindful of the fact that they were still in the library, Miu immediately shushed Lena and looked around for witnesses. Lena didn't care about that. For some reason, she felt warm all over. Giddy, even.
"Will you shut up?" Miu snapped.
Grinning from ear to ear, Lena said, "Tell me I'm wrong."
She didn't tell Lena that. Instead, Miu began to gather up her things and tried to take a step to leave. Not on Lena's watch; she immediately reached out and grabbed Miu by her hips, keeping her at bay.
"No, no. You don't get to run away from this," Lena cooed.
Squirming under her hands, Miu said, "Let me go, Lena."
Lena just said, "Tell me the truth first. Do you like me?"
She needed to know. She needed the answer like a starving woman needed a glass of water. Miu continued to struggle under her hands but Lena's grip was unrelenting. She could not let Miu go until she heard the words from her own mouth.
Finally, Miu huffed and asked, "Does it even matter?"
"Why wouldn't it?" Lena asked with a frown.
Miu let out a mirthless laugh and asked, "Are you suddenly going to like me back?"
Lena froze. Her grip lost its strength and her hands simply rested on Miu's hips. Why did Miu look like that? All sad and so… hurt? Had Miu ever looked like that in the time Lena had known her?
"Let's just pretend like this conversation never happened." Miu murmured quietly, avoiding her gaze, "You can go back to hating me and I can move on with my life."
"Move on how?"
Bile rose in her throat. Lena really didn't like the sound of that.
Miu shrugged and said, "Oh, I don't know, I could stop pining after a girl who hates me. That's be a start."
Venom in her voice, Lena asked, "Is that it? You're in love with me and you're already thinking about moving on? Is that how small your heart is?"
"Excuse me?"
Miu sounded genuinely offended by her words. Good. She was gripping her belongings so tightly that Lena could see the whites of her knuckles when she glanced at them.
Lena snarled, "Well, this is just ridiculous. You don't even have the decency to confess to me properly and now you're already trying to abandon me."
"Are you scolding me right now?" Miu asked, her face contorted into a sneer, "You tried to put a love spell on me, Lena! If anyone should be getting a scolding, it should be you."
"Then scold me. Do anything you want except run away," Lena replied in almost a whine.
It was all suddenly so clear in Lena's head.
The reason why she wanted to beat Miu so badly wasn't because she disliked her: she just wanted her attention and acknowledgement of Lena's abilities. Lena didn't always seek Miu out in a crowded room because she wanted to avoid her, she just wanted to know Miu was nearby. She now understood why it bothered her so much to consider Miu being in love with someone else.
Because the only person that Miu should be in love with — the only purpose worthy of being Miu's equal — was Lena.
That's why she absolutely couldn't let Miu leave now.
"Stop it." Miu spat out, "I don't need your pity."
Lena scoffed at the idea of this, saying, "You will never have my pity. Are you kidding me? Unfortunately, you're the most competent witch I know and that makes you a giant problem for me. Why would I ever pity you?"
Wearily, Miu said, "Lena, I'm getting really tired of this conversation, so can you just wrap it up so I can go?"
"No."
The confused look on Miu's face was adorable.
"You're not leaving," Lena said resolutely.
She was still holding Miu by her hips. Their bodies were still pressed against each other although Miu had her belongings held up to her chest and held up by both arms. Judging by the way Miu's eyes darted back and forth—
"Lena, people are staring," Miu whined as she look around.
"Let them stare. I'm talking to you, not them," Lena replied.
She never once looked away from Miu's face. How could she? She was just noticing now how beautiful Miu was looking today. Then again, Miu looked this gorgeous every day; Lena just never allowed herself the time to appreciate it.
Miu to a moment to scan over Lena's face. She frowned a little and said, "You're acting strange."
Unperturbed, Lena asked, "Were you ever going to tell me your feelings or was I just supposed to figure it out myself?"
Miu's eyes widened only for a moment. She looked away and said, "You were never meant to know. I should've expected you to figure it out. That was my mistake."
Something in Lena coiled up. Something wicked and furious that made her blood boil and her bones ache in rage. Lena asked, "Do you actually like me?"
That caught Miu's attention. She asked, "What?"
Enraged, Lena asked, "Why are you acting like me knowing is a bad thing? Have I chased you off? Have I cursed you out? No? Then why are you acting like this?"
"Because you're going to do it eventually. You just want to torment me a bit first," Miu snarled back, albeit with less bite than usual.
"Is that really what you think of me?" Lena asked, her pride bruised a little, "Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and look at the situation you're in?"
Miu scoffed and asked, "Oh, and what situation is that?"
"Do I have to give you a written invitation to kiss me?"
Time slid to a standstill. The words were out of Lena's mouth before she could stop then. Although, she did not regret them once they were said. Miu turned bright red before her. Her eyes couldn't seem to decide on whether they should remain on Lena's mouth, her eyes, or her nose. She seemed at a loss for words as she tried and failed to stammer out a response. She clearly wasn't expecting that kind of question.
Was Miu always this easy to fluster or had Lena been so blind all this time?
Grinning from ear to ear, Lena said, "You know, you're so gifted as a witch but you're kind of dumb when it comes to girls."
Miu blinked several times. "But… you don't like me like that."
Lena raised an eyebrow and asked, "And who decided that?"
There was a pause. Lena did not move nor shy away from her gaze. Miu swallowed but did not have an answer. She seemed to be thinking a thousand thoughts at once.
"Don't get it confused, I'm still going to outperform you tomorrow and get that apprenticeship but…" Lena's voice slowed to a drawl, "I wouldn't mind a kiss for good luck."
Fixing her with a suspicious glare, Miu said, "Wait… are you actually into me or is this another scheme?"
"Oh my god, why are you so paranoid?" Lena asked, face scrunched up in annoyance as she said, "Fine, if you don't wanna kiss me then—"
Every one of Miu's belongings dropped to the floor. One moment they're there, the next Miu was pressing her lips against Lena's. She tasted like berries and smelled like roses. Miu always smelled like roses. Lena couldn't stop her hands from wrapping themselves around Miu's waist and deepening the kiss — nor did she want to stop. Miu let out a soft, small noise of joy into Lena's mouth and it felt like heaven.
They were probably being stared at by every occupant of the library but Lena really couldn't care less.
For a moment, Lena wondered if the love spell did work, just not on Miu.
No, she decided eventually. Lena never needed a spell to have this. She just needed to open her eyes to see what was right in front of her.
