Work Text:

" Goodbye, Darling, I'll see you around" Jayden spoke these words once again, them rolling off his tongue as natural as moss in the forests. He knew Xaiver wouldn't like the nickname if it wasn't for Jayden calling, quite literally everyone that. But Xaiver was.. different to him. Jayden wasn't. Jayden was the same.

He flew away from the raft, his job was done. Sometimes he felt more like a tour guide than a God but oh well. He returned back to the place he called "home" despite it never feeling like it. He landed in the temple and went to his chamber.

The dark haired man layed on his bed. He felt Empty as ever. He pulled of the robe that covered his torso and stretched out his wings. The feathers were meant to be the purest of white, the shiniest of gold, the most divine amongst common, the feathers of a God. But for Jayden they looked... weird. Funky. Bent all the wrong places. Chipped or cut ends. A very unpleasant look. Not all of the Gods had wings, so to have them was an honor you were supposed to wear and flaunt but Jayden couldn't bring himself to do that.

On earth only centuries ago, did avians exist. For them the act of preening was severely intimate. For multiple reasons. Gods didnt have it that much different except it was much more shameful. You were expected to do your own wings as much as you could, keep them in shape. As you could tell by the previous description Jayden didn't do that and was beyond help at this point. Spoke from experience. He tried to do that a few days ago and ended up owing way too much to be dignified.

"What kind of God doesn't preen his wings?"

A voice spoke. It wasn't here. He knew that by now but gosh was it holy. He saw just the tiniest bit of golden sunlight at the corner of his eyes. On instinct he turned his head twords the blinding light. "Only a terrid one" he sighed.

"Hm..." The glowing figure hummed before gliding across... the ground? Air? It wss hard to tell. "Maybe be harder on yourself. Or.. you know. Let go. Not like anyone would care" it was uncharacteristic but the voice purred.

Jayden flopped back onto the bed with a groan. It took him a secound but eventually he sat back up. He ran a finger across the tops of his wings. It was disgusting. He didn't like it. He didn't like it one bit. But if Xaiver(even the illusion of him) requested anything, we'll Jayden would do the thing he would always do when anything was asked of him. He would serve.

He idly ran his hands across his wings as the light moved around his room, checking out random details. He deceided to just start by plucking out the ruined feathers. That's was tricky to do alone. Since the majority of his wingspan he couldn't reach or couldn't see. Jayden tried one and it went out easier than expected... another and- ow, ow, ow never mind. Typically he would just wash his wings when he washed himself but he hadn't dine that in the past few days out of laziness.

A small hum filled the room. A sea shanty Xaiver had hummed before, not just the illusion but the real version of him. Maybe he should focus on that. Yeah. Jayden ended up getting a few more feathers out before pulling a little too hard and seeing the tip of the feather be way too red. And wet.

"That's not good." Said the human.

"Wouldnt have guessed" replied the God.

Jayden just decided to ignore the red flag and keep preening. Obviously a bad idea as the blood didn't stop. Begrudgingly he got up and drank a health potion. Thst was enough pulling for today. Now brushing the feathers

He sat back down and ran his fingers across the pure white wings. A small breeze wooshed past him as the sunlight crossed the room behind his back. Jaydens head tilted back against the wall with a small whine building in the back of his throat. One of the reasons he hated preening wings, and why it was such an intimate ritual was because of the heat that he felt surge trough him every time the sensitive appendage felt any stimulation.

A sly smile crossed Xaivers face "You're just like a bird" he tilted his head, eying the back and under his wings. Which jsysen wrapped around himself in shame. For an external body structure, the purposes of wings felt way too exposable. But as Jayden rubbed at his feathered limb to try and fix the contour feathers, he kind of proved Xaivers point.

He let out a small breath of air as he look around the room trying to find the familiar face of Xaiver. Taking care of his wings would be easier with someone. The illusion happened to be by Jaydens closed window. "How are you doing?"

Jayden threw his head back and shut his eyes, fuck, he was lonely. Another whimper. A secound passed, then there was a hum- why did Xaiver hum so mutch? He wasn't even a siren or merfolk or anything- anyways a warmth went trough Jaydens hair. He totally needed to have the illusion of a random mortal stroking his hair while he's caressing his wings on a random Tuesday. Yeah.

He tried to adjust his wings to move onto the next side and stop getting turned on but they felt way too heavy to move all of the sudden. His whole body felt heavy. He brought his knees up to his chest and buried his face in them. He was so fucking pathetic. He wish he wasn't immortal. He wished he wouldn't have to carry the weight of being a God. He wished he was normal. He wish he knew Xaiver. He wished Xaiver knew him.

"How are you doing, darling?"

"Horrible." He whined out. This whole thing was making him feel lonely, miserable, pathetic, suicidal and horny for some fucked up reason so obviously he wasn't doing his best. He grunted and tried going back to preeningmhis wings but he knew that was just an excuse to get stimulation by now.

"Wow... that's embarrassing.. " Xaiver snickered. His nonexistant fingers still running trough Jaydens tangles. "I wouldn't want that to be me. I'm getting secound hand embarassment and I'm not even here"

The dark haired god did not want that reminder. The real xaiver was awkward, brave, ambitious and polite. This one was fucked in the head and probably threw rocks at babies as a kid. Jayden tho did kind of enjoy it in the back of his mind whenever Xsiver would talk down on him. He hoped it was a psychological defect not a sexual thing since he also loved it when Xaiver would praise him.

"I'm carrying the whole conversation here, it's kinda rude of you ain't it" the warmth dragging along his scalp stopped "I might have to leave"

"Don't.. please don't.. " Jayden opened his eyes and stared directly into the sunlight. Even if it hurt atleast the sun was shining for him not anyone else. Even if he wanted to squint and hide from the heat atleast the sun bothered to make him warm. "Please.." He begged, trying to grasp the vision as it pulled away with a scowl.

"Don't touch me" this snark was wey too familiar and real. Then it faded. "Alright. I'll stay. But we both know how this will end so just get on with it so I can go after.."

It was true. They both knew it. This whole shebang had a tendency to happen. And so it did. Like always.
