Chapter Text
Wilhelm knocks twice at his mother’s door. “Come in,” he hears her say. Running a hand through his hair, Wille opens the door and slides into the chair across from her. His mother looks him up and down once, and lets out a small chuckle.
Wille looks around himself. “What?”
“It’s 9 am and you’re still in your pajamas, Wille.”
“So? It’s Saturday. I’m not busy right now. Are you busy right now?” Wille responds, to which his mother laughs. She takes the stack of papers in front of her and straightens them out after signing them. “Wilhelm, you remember Malin?”
“Of course I do. How was her baby’s delivery?” he asks. “I texted her a week ago, but she didn’t respond.”
Kristina nods. “She’s been busy. The point is, Malin isn’t going to be your bodyguard anymore so she can focus on her baby. So, for the meantime, your body guard is going to be Captain Simon Eriksson.” She gestures over to the corner of the room, where a young man with olive-colored skin and brown, bouncy curls slicked back into a small bun, and perfect posture walks over and bows. “He’s a bit older than you in age and at the top of his division.”
Wille stands to face the man. “Nice to meet you.” He feels something in his stomach, like a butterfly taking birth.
He blinks, slightly surprised to be addressed directly, but his body stays perfectly still, at attention. “Good morning, Your Royal Highness.”
