FLASH-BACK: ꩜ STEEL AND STARE
“I'm sorry Willow, I can't let you out.. I'll get in huge trouble.” Fawn mumbles, avoiding eye contact while sitting on a small stool in the lone part of the police station in front of Willow’s cell.
“That’s just bullshit, of course you can let me out. Your a fucking police officer! You have the key..” Willow glares at Fawn, who gives her a sympathetic look.
“I’d get fired and accused of helping a criminal escape, I'm sorry Willow,” Fawn explains, Willow stand’s there in the cold, dingy cell. Looking defeated and annoyed.
“You just don’t want to let me out, do you?” Willow sneers at her. Fawn shakes her head,
“I’d let you out if I could, but I would be the one getting fired.”
“So you care about your job more than me?” Willow says blandly, Fawn goes quiet, a look of something besides annoyance crossing her face.
“Of course I care about my job, I'm allowed to care about other things.” Fawn says quietly, her voice becoming small. Willow glares at Fawn through the cell.
“Just..” Willow hesitates, before smiling bitterly. “Fuck off then, Fawn.”
“Fine, I will then.” A flicker of surprise crosses Willow’s face, then her face hardens again.
Fawn stands up, her eyes shiny. Willow doesn't notice, too busy staring at the dirty ground.
“Hey..uh.. Willow, before you think I don't care about you. Just so you know, I do.” Willow looks up, her jaw hard. Before flicking the middle finger at Fawn, who gives her a dirty look.
“You're a pain in my ass.” Fawn snaps, Willow smirks coldly.
“Good.” She mutters. “Are you leaving or what?” Fawn stands there for a few seconds, before walking off toward the staff room.
“Everything ok officer Fawn?” Doggy says as she enters the room.
“Yeah, everything is fine, Doggy.” Fawn forces a grin, while feeling like shit inside.
Doggy nods, flipping through some files while Fawn sits down, putting her face in her hands.
“Are you sure everything is ok?” Doggy asks, looking a bit worried.
“Doggy, I said I'm FINE Quit pestering me about nothing.” Fawn snaps, glaring at him.
Doggy looks confused at Fawn's anger. But shrugs, getting the hint to leave her alone.
“Where's Poley?” Fawn asks, Doggy shrugs.
“No idea, he went on a patrol drive around Lucella.” Fawn raises her eyebrows.
“Even when there's this so-called sickness going around?” Fawn asks.
“He can defend himself..” Doggy says, the radio crackles as a car Screeches from the garage.
“Well, I think Poley is back.” Fawn says "I'll go help him, with uh.. Whatever he needs help with?” Fawn shrugs, leaving the staffroom and heading downstairs to the garage.
“Hey, Poley. Did you find anything on the patrol?’ Fawn stops at the door, noticing how pale and shaky Poley looked. He looks up and shakes his head quickly, eyes drooping.
“No, nothing.” Poley mutters, Fawn gives him a scrutinizing look.
“You look sick, you ok?” Fawn asks, raising her eyebrows.
“Everything is fine, where's Doggy?” Poley asks “And is Willow still in her cell?”
Fawn shrugs. “Yeah, she's been quiet this whole time.” Fawn lied saying that, knowing it wasn't true at all.
“Ok, um..let's head to Doddy- I mean Doggy..” Poley says quickly.
Ok, Doddy? What the fuck is wrong with this guy, Fawn thinks in her head.
They head back to the staff room, Fawn keeping a distance from Poley. Not to get sick of course.
“Hey, officer Poley! How was the patrol around Lucella?” Doggy asks, looking up from his desk.
“Great, I loved it.” Poley mutters, gripping the back of a chair and clutching the side of his head.
“I think I got infected by that sickness, one of those.. uh..monsters scratched me.” Poley sighs, Fawn gasps and Doggy chokes on his coffee.
“Holy shit no wonder you look like shit.. Oh fuck..” Fawn mutters worriedly, running a hand through her hair. “What are the side effects?” Fawn asks, Doggy shrugs.
“We only know about the sickness, none of the side effects. Accept it makes you dizzy and stuff..” Doggy mutters, Poley puts his face in his hands.
“Hey..it's ok, don't worry. We’ll try to find something to help you..” Fawn puts a hand on Poley’s shoulder. He shakes his head, glaring at Fawn.
“Havent you heard? It's fatal, I'm long gone.”
Doggy and Fawn exchange eye contact, Poley shrugs again. Sitting on a chair.
“If uh..you guys have to leave.. Leave me behind..ill just be a danger to you guys.” He mutters, Doggy shakes his head quickly.
“No way.” Fawn says, glaring at Poley."We're not leaving you behind.”
Poley shrugs again. “You guys should leave while you can, it's too dangerous.” He mutters.
“Well.. he is correct..” Fawn mumbles, Doggy nods and gives Poley a hurt look.
“Are you sure..? Poley..?” Fawn says, noticing how twitchy Poley was and how he was silent.
“Shit, I think Poley’s infected.. We have to tie him up or something..” Fawn says quickly, Doggy hesitates.
“I'll get the rope from the storage closet.” Doggy says, while Fawn strides over to the weapons cabinet and grabs a gun from it, looking at a half conscious Poley with a guilty look on her face.
“I'm so sorry about this Poley.” Fawn says Poley barely looks up. His eyes began to glow slightly.. Red?
“SHIT! Doggy hurry!” Fawn yells, pointing the gun at Poley, Doggy returns and ties up Poley to the chair.
“Go find anything we might need to flee with, it's not safe here anymore.” Doggy mutters, knotting the rope on Poley. Fawn and Doggy run back to the garage.
“Well, come on Fawn.” Doggy says as Fawn suddenly stops.
“Give me 1 minute..” She mutters, turning around and running toward the cells.
“Willow!” Fawn yells, pulling her cell key out of her pocket.
“You came back? Willow looks up, her face hard and blank.
“Yes, Willow. I came back.. I couldn't just leave you here to die..” Fawn mutters, avoiding eye contact, Willow smirks.
“So you couldn't leave me, could you~..” Fawn glares at Willow, who steps out of the cell and glances at Fawn,
“Be grateful I even bothered to come back for YOUR ass.”
“Whatever, thanks I guess.” Willow mutters, Fawn smiles slightly.
“There's my thank you, your welcome. Try not to get into criminal shit again.” Willow looks Fawn in the eye, then shrugs.
“Fine, bye officer Fawn.” Willow says, looking at Fawn with a blank expression.
They stand there for a second, before heading in the opposite direction.
