Chapter Text
It was a stupid idea to go outside the graveyard.
Wemmbu knew that.
They ALL knew that.
So for what reason did they collectively decide that it'd be a good idea to go scope out the forest behind the graveyard.
Wemmbu has zero idea.
Perhaps because they didn't see anything loitering around the graveyard the entire time, to the point it felt almost eerie.
Even wemmbu didn't hear the low grumbling and quiet scratching he'd grown used to during night.
Thats precisely why they're running at full speed towards base, loud screeching following them.
They got a bit too careless, to the point Wemmbu realized too late that the bubbling static he ignored was one of the creatures getting drawn in by their talking.
Wemmbu grit his teeth at the loud screeching bouncing off every tree.
"How much till time?!" Wemmbu yells, barely looking back from the sprint hes sporting.
Well- not much of a sprint, since he's dragging Egg right behind him.
To give credit where its due, Egg is trying his best to keep up.
"Eight minutes!" Parrot yells back in between quick gasps of breath.
Just a bit longer.
Unfortunately not all of them were athletic like he was. Thats also the reason why he was gripping Egg's arm so hard.
Its a wonder how the others are keeping up, since hes only dragging Egg around.
Considering the wobble in Parrot's voice, just barely.
Just as that thought passed, Wemmbu caught a glimpse of the graveyard from behind the trees.
So close yet so far, he can hear the creature's creaky bones sprinting behind them anyways.
Getting closer if the loud thumping of claws against grass and the increasingly louder screeching was anything to go by..
The second he makes it in, he's immediately sitting Egg down againsts the wall.
The others are somehow a good bit away, wemmbu thought he heard them right behind him.. Thats not good.
He goes to waiting at the button to close the gate with shaky hands.
When he sees the unfortunately familiar flash of rainbow burst in, he slams the button.
Flame just barely makes it in right after Spoke, the gate slamming shut the second he gets in.
Damn.. so fast for being an athlete, huh?
Thankfully Wemmbu still has some kindness in his heart, even for the.. Less deserving.
Loud scratching and banging could be heard, along with the headache-inducing screeching that makes Wemmbu let out an involuntary groan.
They all visibly slump once they're oficially out of danger. Finally catching their breath.
"Shame.." Wemmbu mumbled, helping a panting Egg get up.
"Bro." Flame grits his teeth. "What the hell was that."
"Dalright.. I'm heading to the bus."
Wemmbu could hear a few noises of agreement before they start walking.
When inside, the first thing he could hear was loud whining from their resident princess. "I would have made it in sooner if Wemmbu warned of us the phantom before it attacked!"
"Well, to be honest, you could've heard it if you'd just paid attention." Egg was leaning on wemmbu, letting out a loud yawn.
Wemmbu just snickered at the annoyed expression on Flame's face, grabbing his water bottle before freezing. "Did the banging stop?.."
"It probably gave up or someth-" Parrot got cut off by the sound of claws againsts concrete.
Concrete that was very much INSIDE the graveyard.
Everyone turned to look towards the front door of the bus with increasing horror.
A pitch black face with grotesque teeth was staring right at them.
"...fuck."
"Can we open the back door?" Parrot barely said, not looking away from the soulless creature.
Its smile seeming to widen ever so slightly at that.
"Its blocked!" Mapic's voice rang out.
They all moved towards the back anyways, shit, their weapons are at the front of the bus. Right behind where the creature was.
"What the hell are we supposed to do?" Egg moved behind Wemmbu slightly.
"Die?" Spoke said a bit too loud. Earning glares from everyone.
"Spoke!"
The creature lunged forward, but then a beeping sound from Parrot's watch rang out.
Wemmbu awoke with a loud gasp, sitting up on his bed with a slight shiver down his spine. "Way too fucking close.."
His phone read 12:01 right before it started ringing with notifications.
//
Parrot: Everyone okay?
Wemmbu: Yeah.
Spoke: Jeez that was a close one!!!!!...
Mapic: Yeah but can we like, never do that again??
Egg: Yep, somehow.
Flame: Barely bruh.
//
Wemmbu lets out yet another loud sigh, rubbing his eyes.
//
Spoke: Did anyone finish the homework? Please please please with a cherry on top..??? :33
//
That makes Wemmbu actually look up from his phone at the abomination of textbooks and papers stacked on top of his table.
//
Wemmbu: screw that.
Flame: can't believe I'm agreeing with you
//
He sent that text right before letting out a yawn loud enough to wake the death and laying back down.
His sleep comes before some stupid worksheets.
He says that knowing damn hes not gonna get a wink of sleep.
Wemmbu seeks death.
Its 8 AM, the coffee he was holding was probably burning a hole into his hand, and he felt like he might fall asleep waiting for the bus.
It might have taken an awful lot of self-control as to not take a blissfull nap standing up, but hes on the damn bus.
Atleast hes not the only one, seeing as Mapicc was barely conscious.
The second he sat down, Egg was already leaning on him.
So much for being a great friend.
But unfortunately, Spoke exists.
The shorter boy immediatelly pokes his head out from above the bus seats, giving a very enthusiastic greeting for someone who's eyebags looked even worse than Wemmbu's
"Last night was reaaally rough, huh Wemmy???" Spoke said in a volume that made him be quite grateful for the earplugs he had..
But the black-haired didn't seem to notice Wemmbu wasn't even paying attention because he just continued talking to thin air.
Egg finally sat up straight. Just in time for Wemmbu to start giving him puppy eyes in exchange for homework.
The albino, was ofcourse unimpressed and ended up pushing Wemmbu away with a nasty glare.
But as always, Wemmbu's impeccable charm worked, because Egg ended up giving in.
Wemmbu doesn't need another write up by mr. K
Just a few more until the teacher had to call home, and Wemmbu is not the biggest fan of having his dads finding out he's getting in trouble.
Most of the write ups aren't even his fault!
Its just Flame picking arguments with him or spoke deciding to "lighten up the mood" by throwing fireworks in the toilets!!
How the hell is it Wemmbu's fault if SPOKE decides to graffiti the gym locker rooms.
His father already got upset at being called in by the principal over the fistfight Wemmbu had with their resident "bro" chungie who got ragebaited by Wemmbu tripping him.
It was not his fault that Flame always escalates the situation.
And its just his father getting upset about the picking-fights thing, his other dad was upset that some chud actually managed to keep up with Wemmbu.
"Good morn-.. ing?.." Lettuce trailed off a bit, staring at three teenagers that looked like they were taking part in the russian sleep experiment all night, and one barely disheveled one.
They're looking worse and worse every morning, to the point he even feels bad for them.
They were usually so quick to greet back, but now the poor teacher is lucky to even be acknowledged by anyone other than Egg..
He hopes they aren't playing video games all night. that seems to be a teen-like thing to do.
A thing Lettuce recognized from his teenage years.
Ah these kids are gonna be the death of him.
He's pretty sure they sleep thru the class everytime anyways..
An ordinary teacher would write them up, but Lettuce feels thats a bit too strict for them.
Wemmbu wakes with the bell, quite a rude wake-up call.
It looks like he slept thru class again
But looking around, atleast it seems the others did aswell. Save for Egg, who doesn't look a bit tired anyways.
At this rate, they're gonna flunk the class.
Not much they can do about their situation anyways..
"Wemmy!!!!"
"We're all eating lunch together, y'know, to talk about "secret stuff"..!!"
Spoke was already walking with a bounce in his step, stopping only to shake Wemmbu by the shoulders.
"Yeah, yeah, don't call me that." Wemmbu said, before pushing spoke off. He always says "secret stuff" when he means the phantoms..
Well this should go well.
This is about as awkward as lunch can get.
Nobody at the table is talking, not a single eye-contact in sight except for the stare-down flame and wemmbu are currently having.
Spoke is building some kind of tower with pieces of whatever slop they had that day.
Okay, for a supposed "meeting", theres very little talking being done.
"I think we should go back to Snowciv."
..what.
Everyone looks up at Flame after he said that. Even Egg looks surprised.
"I thought we were all on the same page that it was too dangerous.?" Mapic raised a brow.
"It is too dangerous. Its better to be stuck here than in the middle of some shitty city we don't know. We'll be completely stuck if we go there." Egg straightens up.
They have all the advantage in Capital City, from the base to the knowledge about the city, it's much safer than going around blind in Snowciv, with no base and barely any weapons.
It would be stupid getting stuck in a city they've only been in once..
"Well, maybe if miss princess over here didn't have a stick up his ass and told us the truth, maybe we wouldn't be stuck in the first place" Flame snapped at Wemmbu.
"I already explained why I didn't tell you, or are you that stu-.."
"Aren't you the one to talk, Flame!! You insisted that it was a prank and walked off. Would you have even believed if he said anything?" Spoke huffs, cutting Wemmbu off with little to no care.
Flame stands up angrily "He should have said something anyways! Now we're stuck here for who knows how many more months, in a demonic dimension, with flesh eating creatures chasing us around, i haven't slept in the past two weeks! I could -.."
Flame gets interrupted by a loud shush, and a very horrified Parrot.
Ah. With all his whining, they have attracted quite the audience.. Quarter of the damn cafeteria is judgingly staring at him.
Conversations return around them only a few second after Flame sits back down embarassed.
"..I think Flame's kinda right, should we really just stand around doing nothing?" Parrot winced.
As annoying as it was, its one of the only things they can do.
If they go back, they could find out how it all happened and how to get out... Or they could risk making things even worse.
