Siblings + Amnesia

Summary:

An idea, what if Kamui got amnesia & ended up as an enemy to Kagura, Abuto, & the Harusame?

Notes:

SO this is an IDEA for a fic (or movie), not an actual fanfic with written dialogues (I'm sorry, I'm not good at that + I'm lazy).
The setting is AFTER the end of Gintama The Final (AKA an After-Story).
Hope you enjoy! XD

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Kagura is invited into the Harusame spaceship for a vacation(?), but as always Kamui starts rage-baiting his sister, culminating in Kagura accidentally sending Kamui (in a small ship) crash-landing into a nearby planet & Kamui losing his memory. Kamui acclimates quickly with his empty smile & the gang who picked him up (AKA they tried to threaten Kamui, but Kamui beat their asses instead ofc. More organization tho, like the mafia) finally figured-out he’s a Yato & ploys to use him to obtain a mystical stone (which is hidden in said planet) that’s said to grant it’s bearer the power to become the strongest being in existence.

On the other hand, the Harusame (Kagura, Abuto & co) finally arrived on that planet to search for Kamui (Kagura is obviously feeling guilty, but won’t admit it, & Abuto saying it’s mostly Kamui’s own fault). They found the small ship Kamui crash-landed in, but it’s empty, & they start searching & questioning the locals if they’ve seen Kamui. The gang quickly heard of people with umbrellas asking around for who seemed like Kamui (Kamui is just chilling in their base), & quickly pieced two-and-two together: the Yatos are searching for Kamui & if they meet Kamui could get his memory back (which they definitely couldn’t allow, esp the gang’s boss: a dark-skinned, muscular & vain man, prolly in his 30s. Charismatic, manipulative, but also pathetic & a coward). Kamui & the gang have fall into a sort of harmony, where the gang provides Kamui with every of his needs (& highly reveres him), while Kamui beat / threaten some people up for them (Kamui likes to choose who he beats up tho, for one he wants to fight with strong people only, so either he ignores orders or kills someone (either the target or whoops the gang members). So some coaxing is also necessary, the boss especially coaxes & pleads to him hard).

The Harusame’s series of search for Kamui were fruitless, but they heard about the mystical stone. As they gained no info on Kamui’s whereabout, they decided to also search for the mystical stone, figuring that Kamui would probably be interested in a stone said to grant it’s bearer the power to be the ‘strongest being in existence’. Kagura split up from Abuto & co to find the mystical stone, while doing so she somberly reflects on their (she & Kamui’s) entire ordeal on the spaceship which caused Kamui’s crash on this planet, as well as their past together as family. As they continue their search for Kamui (& thus the mystical stone), the gang also continues their search for the mystical stone.

Both parties ended up finding the location to the mystical stone. The gang’s boss & Kamui went ahead to the stone’s location. Abuto & co encountered them there. Abuto tried calling out to Kamui (refering to him as ‘Captain’) & asking where he has been. Kamui doesn’t remember him & asked him who is this ‘Captain’ is. Abuto & co are shocked & they realized Kamui has amnesia, they tried to make him remember by telling him that he’s Harusame, the feared Space Pirate’s one and only Captain. The gang’s boss is also shocked that Kamui turns out to be such a high figure in Harusame (Harusame is notorious & feared across all of the galaxy), yet isn’t surprised due to Kamui’s strength & abilities. And much to the gang’s boss’ relief, Kamui meeting his Yato friends didn’t help him regain his memories. Kamui, realizing that Abuto is a fellow Yato, attacked him! Finally, Kamui has a strong & fun opponent to fight against, it’s been very boring on this planet, everyone is so weak. Abuto is shocked, but his own well against Kamui at first.

The gang’s boss decided to leave Kamui & continues to venture deeper into the stone’s whereabout. As he finally found the stone & gets closer to it, Kagura appeared. The gang’s boss is shocked at how her appearance closely resembled Kamui & quickly surmised that they’re blood-related (correct). As he’s so close to the stone of his desires & dreams, he has 2 target: obtain the stone & eliminate Kagura so she wouldn’t get to meet Kamui (even if meeting his Yato friends didn’t make Kamui regain his memories, who knows if meeting his relative could be the trigger instead. He’s not risking it), but the stone is way more important. With the stone he could become the most powerful existence, & he wouldn’t even need to fear Kamui anymore! Kagura senses something is off with him, & they start to fight.

Kagura vs gang’s boss & Kamui vs Abuto. The Harusame members are watching on the sideline as their Captin fight their Vice-Captain, Abuto telling them not to interrupt as they would hold him back instead of helping. Besides, Abuto is not letting their Captain accidentally kill his own henchmen in amnesia, tho he quietly wonders if Kamui will even care, Kamui being who he is (attempted to kill his own father & master, & has actually killed one of his henchmen without remorse).

Kamui is having fun fighting Abuto & praises him for being strong, Abuto struggles in defending himself as he mockingly said thank you. Kamui smiles an empty smile as usual, but he’s really having loads of fun (Abuto is not at all having fun btw). Meanwhile, Kagura is fighting against the gang boss & quickly defeats him (she’s a very powerful Yato herself). The gang boss mock-surrendered & begs for forgiveness, & Kagura being kind stops her blow. She then attempts to interrogate him for answers, but the gang boss uses her hesitation to grab the mystical stone! Powers flows within him as he grows 2x his size & way stronger. He then attacks Kagura, landing many swift & powerful blows as Kagura is caught surprised. He then sends the bloody Kagura flying with a powerful blow from the stone’s power, right in the middle of Kamui vs Abuto. Abuto realizing Kagura’s body is flying towards them at rapid speed, calls out to her. Kamui looks surprised for a split second in Kagura’s direction, before Kagura’s battered body hits him powerfully & sends them both flying into the stone walls. Turns out, Kamui had quickly maneuvered to catch her & soften her landing by using himself as a shield against the stone walls (instead of just being caught surprised by a flying body & be flattened against the stone wall by accident). In the instant of Kamui seeing Kagura’s flying body, he had regained his memories.

Abuto calls out to both Kamui & Kagura. Kagura slowly opened her eyes to Kamui calling her heavy. Then it (the screen for the viewers) shows Kamui’s gentle brotherly smile, unlike his usual empty smile (the 1st actual smile he shows in this after-story). He then gently asked if ‘Kagura’ is okay (he doesn’t call her the usual teasing & mocking ‘Idiotic Sister’) & to leave it all to ‘Big Brother (Onii-chan)’. Kamui then carried her in his arms & handed her over to Abuto, telling Abuto to take care of ‘Kagura’ with his serious low voice, as he walked forward to face against the gang’s boss (now 2x size with the power of the mystical stone).

Abuto & Kagura observe as Kamui starts his fight with the gang’s boss (cue the main theme starting). Abuto’s internal monologue about Kamui start, as Kamui is shown for the 1st time ever in the history of Gintama to be actually, truly furious (his expression is hardened & blackened (no more smile), his eyes are serious & sharp, & his pupils red. He’s exuding a terrifying murderous aura).

Abuto’s monologue during Kamui vs gang boss: “Harusame’s strongest man, blessed with the jackpot of the genetic lottery. His father is the Universe’s strongest man & his mother an immortal being born from the Altana... Not only his genetics, but his track-record as well: his master, Housen, was once called the ‘King of the Yato’ & the only one that could rival his father. He has the makings of a great Yato, someone who could rival his father one day, or even exceed him as the Universe’s strongest man.”

The gang boss faces Kamui without fear, even almost gleefully & confidently, drunk on his newfound strength. He showers blows upon powerful blows towards Kamui, yet when the dust settled, Kamui doesn’t even have a single scratch on him. Kamui hasn’t made his move yet & only glares quietly at him. The gang boss flinches. Kamui attacks.

Abuto’s continued monologue: “True to the Yato clan’s call for battle & blood, he is a man who enjoys the battlefield & treats lives as nothing. He lives to pursue strength & revels in fights against those as strong or stronger than him. He is everything a Yato should be, & his soul is as empty as his fake smile. He is a heartless man who once tried to kill his own blood father as a boy, & later his own master just for fun.”

Kamui lands swift & powerful blows, merciless in the way it aims to completely decimate his enemy. It is quite different from his usual fighting style, like a child playing, fiery & full of fun. This is a cold way to fight. The gang boss receives all the blows fully, yet he refuses to back down & attempts to land his own blow. He couldn’t. Kamui’s attacks are so swift, he couldn’t get his muscles to move quickly enough to either defend himself or attack back.

Abuto’s continued monologue: “However before he became empty, he was filled with love for his family. He had loved his father, mother, & little sister. Yet his beloved mother died, taking his soul with her. His father bore the brunt of her death & thus his hate. Then in his own weakness, he had abandoned his still small little sister. Since then, he had lived only for the pursuit of strength, to one day surpass & kill his father, exacting his revenge & obtaining the title of the Universe’s strongest man.”

Kamui kicks him upwards, sending his enemy flying into the air. The gang boss took this chance to launch a counterattack in the air, yet Kamui dodged it by shape-shifting into a child. Catching the gang boss by surprise, Kamui once again shape-shifted into an adultier version of himself, using his mastery of Qiqong, & lands a powerful drop kick right onto his enemy’s belly, sending him dropping down straight into the ground. The resulting impact made a crater in the ground.

Abuto’s continued monologue: “’Only an empty vessel is fit for a title as grand as the Universe’s strongest man’... I guess, it has been 2 years since he had said that. Now, look at how much he had changed.”

Kamui shape-shifted back into his own young adult age, & once again powerfully kicked his enemy, sending him flying to an empty desolate field of earth. He then mercilessly punched him into the earth, over-and-over, each punch resulting in a mouthful of blood & a deeper crater in the earth.

Abuto’s continued monologue: “No, it wouldn’t be right to say that he had changed. This is who the man named ‘Kamui’ truly is, his soul. This is who had lied in the deepest part of his heart, a family-oriented person.”

Kagura is watching the fight with Abuto, a bit horrified in his brutality. She asked Abuto to help her stop her brother. Abuto told her that her big bro is giving payback to someone who bullied his little sister, even Abuto himself is too scared to stop him. Kagura nudged his stomach hard & with an exaggerated ‘Oww!’, Abuto carried her in his arms toward her raging brother.

Abuto’s continued monologue: “Despite that, he still has a stubborn dispute-filled relationship with his ‘Universe’s strongest man’ of a father, and his beloved immortal mother is still dead. Which leaves only his little sister, a Yato who rejects her blood’s thirst for battle & seek to live in peace, who he constantly deliberately annoys & fights with like 5-year olds.”

By the time they got close enough, they could see the numerous craters in the earth. Each freshly made as the gang boss’ body hits the ground, over-and-over. His body still 2x the size & his mind still conscious, as Kamui prepares for another attack. The gang boss then deploys his plan, to beg on the ground for forgiveness. Kamui appears as though he stopped his attack for a second, leading to the gang boss thinking his plan had worked, as he slyly went for a surprise attack. Kamui didn’t even flinch as he mercilessly kicked him up into the air again, as he never intended to give him mercy for what he had done. This time, the mystic stone fell out of the gang boss’ grasp, & before he could grab & hid it again, Kamui effortlessly destroyed it with a clench of his hand, turning the stone into dust. The gang boss’ face paled as he realized his hope has been crushed, quite literally, & his body returned back to its original size, now battered & bloody beyond recognition. Still in the air, Kamui prepares for another powerful blow against the now weak gang boss...

Abuto’s continued monologue: “Which is to say...don’t mess with his little sister. Harusame’s strongest man is a siscon.”

Kagura attempted to scream Kamui’s name & stop him, but Kamui was faster & clasped his fists together to strike the gang boss down, once-and-for-all. The resulting impact decimated the earth, turning it once again into another crater, this one the biggest of them all.

Looking at the state of the earth, with so many huge craters that would definitely be thought as originating from natural disasters if you see this planet from space, Abuto monologued for the last time: “...Maybe our Captain has truly surpassed his father as the Universe’s strongest man, at his still very young age...”

Kagura finally called out to Kamui. As Kamui looked back to her, his cold murderous expression is already gone.

The result of that event went on to make the round in inter-planetary news, where it is said that one of the most terrifying natural disaster had mysteriously struck a planet, leaving numerous huge craters that is impossible to have been man-made. It also reached the Earth’s TV news, where Gintoki & Shinpachi watched it. Both are surprised at how crazy it looked, with Gintoki lazily saying that natural disasters are scary & Shinpachi hoping that it doesn’t hit Earth next.

Notes:

Yes, I just wanted to write Abuto's monologues & the big battle at the end! You got me! I want more Yato siblings platonic love content pleaseeee, Sorachiiii TOT<3.
(Btw, Sorachi did confirm at the Question Corner in vol 67 of the Gintama manga, that Kamui has a sister-complex.
So no, I did not make that up. Kamui DOES canonically have a sister-complex).
