Notes from the Teacher and the Watchful Eye

Summary:

Love comes in many forms, from the flowers given on a random night to the words sung only by a poet. For a particular teacher and Watchful eye from a small atelier just by the beach, their love shows in many, many ways, but the grandeur of their love aside, there are also the little things.

Notes:

I do not own the characters or universe of Witch Hat Atelier, they all belong to Shirahama

Work Text:

Coco,

I’ll be off in Kalhn for a quick bit, I am dropping off our orders. I won’t be long, so don’t worry your pretty head off for me, alright? I’ll go pick up some supplies for the girls while I am at it. (Acting like you’re not the bigger worrywart for us two, but fine.) (Oh Hush, I know you well enough to know your nature.)

With Love, (Awww, you do love me, how sweet <3) (And why are you annotating my notices?)
Agott.

Was going to give your favorite tea in person but you weren’t here when I found your desk. Just leave it in the kitchen sink when you’re done, love you!

-C
(Thank you, darling. I’ll be sure to make you dinner later.)

Coco let out a giddy sound at the little note, her fingers slowly tracing over the lines of Agott’s words. “So that’s why this is still on the cup.” She breathed out, looking away from the note as the flush crept up to the rest of her face.

Her hand slid across the ceramic mug to the edge of the paper, two of her fingers gripping it tight before she stopped. Ink-stained hands lingered on the paper for a long minute before finally taking it off with a begrudged breath.

Hey Agott, the apprentices and I are just outside, we’re going over some wind spells again.

I knew you’d probably want me to teach them that outside, especially after last week.
I also took some of our picnic supplies and some of your books if that doesn’t bother you. (Though I know it usually doesn’t) The girls fed Kikei and there’s still some breakfast on the table, I reheated a bowl for you. (and yes, I made sure the girls brought all their tools, so don’t worry too much, my love)

If you want to join us then we’re just by the big oak tree, and if not, then I trust you’ll find us from the trail of minimal destruction. We’ll be back before lunch, love you!

C < 3 (I knew you’d finish the heart)
P.S. I am really really sorry for what happened last week, I swear I’ll make it up to you. (You better. I spent an hour on that bookshelf.) (And here I thought you didn’t want to annotate notes) (Don’t change the subject, Coco Arklaum. The memory of that shelf’s destruction is still seared into my head.) (I said I was sorry!)

Coco paused at the crate and the small box placed at the foot of her door; on top of the crate was a small piece of paper attached to it. She leaned down, stacking the box over the crate before stepping inside the shared bedroom of the two wives.

I heard that Florian had accidentally broken a few of our spare conjuring ink during a lesson, poor girl, so I picked up a fresh crate of ink from Kalhn for you. We were running out of ink anyways so it was no bother.

I’m also leaving this note because I’ve been called to assist Olruggio in one of his projects just by the town, you know that old man. I will be home before dinner, I wouldn’t miss your stew for the world, my love.
Your Love, Agott (P.S. I also got you something in that other box.)

With a curious hum, Coco slowly inched her hands to the box’s lid, pulling it open with a quick motion. The teacher peered inside, her hands feeling soft fabric; they weren’t as big as a traditional roll used in clothing, but they were certainly enough for a few leisure projects, and judging by the patterns and vibrant colours, they were quite the rare find in a place like Kalhn.

Digging a little deeper, Coco soon found a woven green bracelet with green and wood beads and star charms in between the beads; just beside that was another note.

I found these by the stalls of the travelling merchants, and I knew I had to get them for you. I think some sewing could assist in easing your mind from all the work you do. I know they’re not a bouquet of Marigolds, but I hope you like it.

The next day, Agott stepped into her workstation with a long yawn and a cup of caffeinated tea in her hands that she carefully set down on her desk. Her purple eyes made it to the greeted gift on the side; it was a white handkerchief with a little purple owlcat embroidered on it with flowers around it, followed by a note.

I love you alot, do you know that? There is as much kindness in your actions as do your kindness in your loving words. I love you, this gift was perfect, no silly bouquet of Marigolds could ever replace this for me.
