“You actually showed up.”
“Can’t say no to a friend, can I?”
The wind blew lightly through the air. The sun was only just starting to set as they both stepped into the colosseum
They both didn’t speak for a second, just looked at eachother. Before Fluixon finally broke the silence. “May the best man win.” He said confidently. He held his head up high, raising his sword.
Saparata nodded, “..may the best man win.” Saps repeated, slightly quieter.
They circled each other for a bit, waiting for the other to make the first move, before Fluix finally dashed forward. Saps blocked his attack speedily, causing a loud crashing noise between the two metals.
Saps managed to move back a bit, giving enough space to swing his own sword. “Y’know… it didnt have to end like this…” he scoffed. “And- the worst part is… you were wrong.”
His words didnt startle Fluix much…he was already too far gone to even listen to any foolish words of his former best friend. Too enraged to even hear anything.
”Saps, you always knew it would end like this.” Fluixon swung violently, managing to nick the others arm.
Saps winced slightly, coming back quickly. He ran forward going to swing again. “Do you not regret anything..??? Or was becoming friends with me all part of your sick plan..” He muttered bitterly.
Fluixon laughed, but it sounded wrong..more forced. Saps knew what his genuine laugh sounded like, and it wasn’t that. And he’d hate to admit he would do anything to hear that laugh again.
“Saps, you’re…so naive. You know that?” He scoffed. “You trusted everyone..anyone that even looked at you with a kind face.” He spat out.
Ouch. Saps physically recoiled, but he only came back stronger. “Oh, now are we talking about the past now?” He chuckled. “you used to hate people who treated others like pawns in their game..now look at you.” He swung again brutally.
Fluixon managed to dodge just on time, the double impact hit him like a bucket of rocks. Forcing him to become even more enraged..but not with anger—not directly at least.
More like the type of anger caused by grief so heavy that hes not even mad at saps anymore. It was never his fault— he just made it his fault for being so trusting.
When saps noticed Fluix didn’t respond, he only doubled down. “Maybe I am naive, for thinking you actually cared.” He smiled bitterly.
Fluixon finally snapped back to reality, speaking again, “oh please, don’t flatter yourself too much.” He swung back. “You weren’t special, Saps. Just…convenient.” He scoffed.
Saps knew he was lying. They both knew…and somehow that only hurt worse. “..right.” He murmured, suddenly going silent for a bit.
Fluixon noticed, every atom in his mind was screaming for him to apologize— to say he was sorry…for everything.
That they could still fix this and be happy again. But it was too late for that. It’s not like Saps would even want his apologies anymore…right?
Instead he just smiled, “nothing to say now, huh?” He scoffed. But it was forced, like he was trying to hide from having to face the truth.
Saps finally responded after a moment, “oh really-?? That's really funny.” He went forward to swing, “you seemed real desperate to keep me around for someone who was only convenient.”
Fluix blocked the attack with ease, not responding.
The fight soon escalated, it was barely a sword fight anymore. The swords were only a side..the main meal being their words.
Each sentence thrown at each other becoming even more hurtful and painful to even say.
They both weren’t even thinking anymore— just spitting out whatever words they could.
That was until saps was caught off guard… Fluixon swung a normal swing, but it was his words that stung,
“I wish I never even met you, Saps.” He scoffed, “I don’t even know why I thought it was a good idea to pretend to be your friend.”
Saps paused, Fluix didn’t think…he took the opportunity to charge forward, pinning Saps to the dirt.
Fluixon grinned, forcing his sword against Saps neck. Both of them were breathing heavily, he glared at him like they never even knew each other.
Though, Saps’ eyes looked more…tired. Like he'd just realized everything he had just said and heard.
They paused for a second, just staring at each other..before Saps finally spoke. “You’re actually gonna just…kill me?” He muttered. His voice cracked just slightly.
Fluix only laughed,“You made me. Don’t act all innocent.” The one on top responded, his grip tightening.
For a split second, he almost stopped.
He looked at how hurt Saps looked, but then it all came rushing back.
Everything Fluix had sacrificed, just for him to give up at the last moment???
From killing all those leaders and to even getting his own sister killed..
No.
He wasn’t just going to chicken out because they used to be friends..
Saparata deserved this anyways..right?
right..??
so..
He closed his eyes, pressing down till he felt bone.
…
‘Saparata was slain by Fluixon.’
