“Man why did it have to be so cold!”
Tommy groaned. Lucas laughed and untangled their hands and wrapped his arm around Tommy’s shoulder.
“Coldness cured.”
Lucas laughed once again. Oh how Tommy couldn’t get enough of that beautiful sound. The sound most sacred to his heart. The sound he would go to war for.
“Hurry up lovebirds!”
In the distance they saw Em waving her hand frantically while Stella smiled. Txeru and Maria were standing side by side, seeming to be having a conversation that couldn’t be heard from how far away they were. Sol dashed off towards them as Calliope followed behind her.
“Lucas! Tommy! How have yall been!?”
She pulled both of them into a hug tight enough to cut off circulation.
“S-sol. I kinda n-need to b-breathe.”
Lucas struggled as Calliope finally made it over.
“Cmon Sol, we can’t kill them. Remember…”
She gave Sol and Tommy a knowing glance before Sol abruptly let go.
“Oh yeah…”
Sol said with a grin on her face as she stared at Tommy. Tommy turned red as he turned his head quickly, grabbing Lucas’s hand and pulling him towards the others. Lucas looked back at Sol and Calliope who were giggling like little kids, then turned to look at Tommy. Who looked more nervous than when they were walking to the quarry before they confessed for what was apparently the second time.
By the time they reached the others, Tommy had seemed to calm down. Lucas tilted his head up to whisper in Tommy’s ear.
“You alright?”
Tommy gave a quick nod, then greeted the others. This was wildly out of character for him. He was usually confident and talkative. Not nervous like this unless something big was gonna happen.
“Yawn. Ugh sorry guys I didn’t get much sleep last night.”
Lucas said while watching Em get her usual grin. But this time, she was in for a treat. He turned to look at Tommy, who also grinned knowing what was about to happen.
“Oh? Did ya smash?”
Stella slapped her on the arm, she knew this was coming yet thought Emily would be over it given the answer was always no. Lucas and Tommy exchanged glances before grinning and Lucas putting his hand around Tommy’s shoulder, leaning into him.
“Emily Rose Taylor! I told you to stop asking th-“
Stella was cut off by Lucas’s voice.
“Yea we did.”
Everyone stopped and stared. Stella’s mouth hung open as she stared at Lucas. Emily’s grin grew wider. Maria and Txeru stopped their conversation to stare, as-well as Sol and Calliope.
“L-Lucas!”
Maria said shocked, looking towards Tommy and Txeru for help. But Tommy’s grin was getting wider.
“Yeah. Why are yall acting all surprised?”
Tommy asked, looking at Em who had probably the biggest grin ever.
“Fucking finally! I thought you said that was classified information!”
Maria whipped her head to look at Emily.
“Emily! Stop!”
Em seemed to think of something as she waved Maria off.
“Question. Was it good?”
Lucas and Tommy’s grin fell right off their face as they both got flustered.
“C-classified i-information!”
Tommy shouted as Em finally noticed the daggers Stella was staring into her head. Stella lifted her head and whispered something in Emily’s ear, causing Emily’s face to get super flustered.
“S-sorry…”
Tommy and Lucas just nodded at the apology, still at a loss for words. Maria cleared her throat, grabbing Txeru’s arm.
“Anyways… why don’t we all get going. It’s a long drive to the Beach…”
Sol jumped up with a “yay!” And sprinted towards her car, Calliope waving to the others as she followed shortly behind.
“Lucas, head to the car. I-“
Txeru was cut off by Em,
“WE!”
Stella elbowed her and Txeru continued.
“We, need to talk to Tommy.”
Lucas tilted his head to the side. Why couldn’t he hear?
“It’s okay sunshine. It’ll only be for a minute. Go get the queue and snacks ready.”
Tommy tilted his head and gave Lucas a quick kiss as Lucas walked towards the car.
Does he want to break up? Is he tired of me? Are they planning to betray me?
Lucas flicked his head.
No. They won’t do that and they never would. I trust them. Hopefully…
