Work Text:

Maybe if Owen hadn't killed Avid.

Maybe if Owen hadn't blatantly announced his part in Avid's death.

Maybe if Owen at the very least didn't gloat on about Avid being a liability… Then Scott wouldn't be holding this stake.

He eyed Owen, hidden in the trees, his eyes slightly scrunched in the way they'd be when he was truly angry, an emotion he hadn't felt in a while.

Like how he hadn't felt anything close to love in a while. Until Avid, of course.

Maybe he was more in love with the power than the person. Or maybe he finally saw true joy in another's presence for the first time in millennia.

He didn't know, for once. But what he did know was that he would make Owen pay.

So Scott smiled as he stepped out of his hiding place, stuffing the stake into his pocket. "Owen! There you are! I've been looking for you for ages," he drew out the last word.

Owen turned, looking back. "Scott. What do you want?"

"Oh, is it too much for me to want to say hi?" Soctt said, walking towards him.

Owen looked at him then where he came from. "You clearly seeked me out for some kind of reason." He let out a small, decisive laugh, "Probably to avenge your boy-toy?"

Scott's smile only twitched. "We were looking for you. We had a plan, remember?"

Owen looked away. "I don't care about any plan. I have my own business to take care of."

Scott looked around him then back at Owen. "Where, Owen?" He tutted, "C'mon, don't lower yourself to Pyro's betrayal."

"It's not like you'd care. I'll probably ruin something, anyways. You didn't even notice I was gone for hours." He scoffed, then mumbled, "You noticed when Avid was gone for five minutes, though."

"What, you jealous, bat?" Scott lilted.

Owen's teeth grit. "Like I'd be jealous of that–"

"Aww, the little bat is jealous of the attention I gave Avid~" Scott puts a hand to Owen's cheek, which is rough with scars. It was unlike Scott had seen, and he enjoyed all new things.

Owen's face flushed as he took a step back, batting Scott's arm away.

"Oh, don't be so miserable, sweetheart," Scott took a step forward.

A step back.

Forward.

Back.

"Go away, Scott. I don't care what you want."

Forward.

Owen turned.

Forwa–

A hand grabbed his wrist.

Owen tried to shake it off, but Scott's grip was strong.

Strong enough to pull Owen back and take his other wrist.

It all played in a flash until Owen's hands were pinned against a tree over his head.

"Oh, darling," Scott slid them both down until he was straddling Owen, both legs on either side of Owen's hips. "I know you want to die."

Owen blinked once, like that was obvious, until he saw Scott take a stake out of his pocket.

Scott eyed it, then Owen's chest. "Wouldn't that look so pretty burried in there?" He smiled, "Blood drenching that ugly little outfit you got from God-knows-where…" He fiddled with the top hem of the vest, "You'd look exceptionally more beautiful if the light left your eyes. I can imagine why your sire turned you~"

Owen perked up. "Don't ever talk about him agai–"

"Ooh, is that a soft spot? Exactly what I'm going for." Scott played with the stake a bit, taunting Owen.

"If you even speak a word about him I will tear you limb from limb–"

"Try." The stake was put up to Owen's chest, but Scott not dare push it through.

He wasn't done with Owen, just yet.

"You want this. Me to kill you." Owen nodded in response. "You'll have to wait, then, beautiful," Scott whispered, close enough Scott could see every imperfection in Owen's skin.

"I murdered Avid. Why not just kill me?" Owen asked, his voice slightly hushed due to how close Scott's face was to his.

Scott let out a short, amused laugh. "I like playing with my food. And for you, handsome… I would love to hurt you. To see your angry, frustrated face… And to earn tears would just be wonderful."

Owen looked utterly horrified.

"That's it," Scott said softly, leaning in close to Owen. "Keep that scared face," and before their lips touched, "And if you even think about moving away, I will drag this out as long as I please."

Owen let out a small displeased breath, but didn't move once Scott's lips touched his.

On one hand–

Owen hated this. Wanted to pull back and get himself up and put the stake in Scott for doing this to him. He vowed to only do this with Louis. He's betrayed him. Now not even Louis could love him, now.

On the other–

Owen wanted to lean into it. He hadn't felt touch like this in years and was hungry for it. And as long as Scott kept on touching him, he could stay here forever. Be trapped in this kiss until Scott got bored and killed him.

Well.

He couldn't back away, that much was clear.

So…?

Scott pulled away when Owen seemed to be enjoying the kiss, and he was not disappointed. Owen's face was full of embarrassment and guilt and he was oh-so disconcerted.

He smiled. "Enjoyed that?"

Every second, now, Owen became more aware of Scott's bodyweight on his lap. His hands pinned. The danger of the stake. The beauty of the man.

(For but a second, he imagined it with Louis, and immediately turned red at the thought.)

"Oh, Owen. You're so conflicted…" Scott smiled. "I love doing that to you."

Owen scoffed. "Don't accuse me of liking you or any of your actions."

"But that kiss…" Scott giggled, "Was it your best? Did I exceed your sire's?"

"Don't you ever–" Owen tried to lift his body, but found it impossible, "Ever mention him, you vile piece of human waste–"

"I can say whatever I like with a stake pressed to your chest and lips on yours," Scott said.

Owen sat his head back. A single bead of sweat dropped down his forehead from anger. "Okay, then, if you want to play that game. I'll never regret staking your little boy-toy, and this only makes me less regretf–"

He was cut off by a kiss to his lips. No longer soft, but harsh. Angry. The stake shook closer to his chest, as if Scott strained to not stake him right then and there.

And fangs. Scott bit his lip, and bit hard, with wrath.

Owen made a noise from the pain, and it only encouraged Scott further, pushing the fangs deep into his lip.

Owen made more sounds of distress, until Scott lifted his teeth out and licked the blood that poured from the wounds as Owen panted.

Scott then made his way softly to Owen's neck, scraping it with his fangs. "You should shut up once in a while, bat."

"Seems I struck a nerve. Just my intention," Owen said.

Scott laughed, "We'll be here a while, sweetheart," before continuing to tease Owen's neck with his sharp fangs.

"…You're going to bite me. Really?" Owen said, only slightly shaky. Barely. But Scott could tell.

"I'll make it hurt, like I do for Pyro, just for you, Owen," Scott said against his skin.

"You'd lower me so?"

"You've always been lowered so."

And then he bit.

He bit and sunk his teeth in deep, pulling sweet, sweet blood up to his mouth without a care of how it might hurt Owen. In fact, he had more intention to hurt him.

Owen, who had to hold back a noise of pain when the elder vampire with a millennia of experience with this sunk his fangs in.

And oh fuck, did that hurt.

What hurt more is that it wasn't Louis.

What hurt more is that even when he died, Louis wouldn't want to be with him.

He knew that.

That was worse than any pain Scott could inflict.

But of course, that was the exact pain Scott was intending to inflict!

Scott had heard of Owen's sire who died, who he could definitely tell Owen was in love with.

So obviously he'd kiss Owen. Kiss him and bite him and straddle him like a lover.

Just so Owen had the taste of another man on his mouth when he inevitably died and met his lover again.

Just so he'd have a bite mark left from him. A mark of Scott. A mark of his betrayal.

And that tasted better than Owen's blood ever could.

He let his fangs out of Owen's skin and sucked marks over his skin. Bit some on. When his eyes ventured to the idea of pulling Owen's collar down…

"Don't you fucking dare."

Scott smirked at the challenge. He set the stake in between them, and held Owen's hands especially tight as they squirmed to get out of his grip. His other hand unbuttoned exactly three buttons from Owen's shirt, exposing the top of his chest.

He looked down at Owen's malnourished, scarred body. "Pretty," he said, and Owen couldn't decipher if that was a compliment or if it was sarcastic. "Perfect to stain with blood… To see the skin perforate…" Scott's eyes hooded at the thought.

"You're fucking sick."

"You killed Avid."

Owen laughed, "And you let yourself care about him."

Scott's smile slightly faltered.

He did. He let himself care about Avid, of all people.

And he missed him. He missed Avid. He missed their kiss. He missed the kisses they never had.

And it was his fault for missing him.

But he would ignore that, if only for his pride in front of Owen.

And he instead kissed Owen with hate. Hate and lust for the concept of him suffering. He didn't suffer enough, as far as Scott decided.

And this time, the point of the stake would scrape his skin, bits of blood welling up from beneath his skin.

Because in Scott's book, Owen didn't deserve any less.

When Scott was to pull away again, Owen bit his lip. It seemed to have startled him, as Owen sunk his fangs into Scott's lip, causing him the same pain Scott did Owen.

And when Owen let go, he was surprised to see only a pleased expression on Scott's face.

"Mmm, fiesty, just how I like it," he said, with droplets of blood still dripping down his lip. "Looks like you've really betrayed him now, huh? You started it."

A silence fell for only a second before tears made their way down Owen's face. He was too tired to do anything now but cry, after that. Too tired to fight, after all this.

He just…

Gave up.

Scott's smile came back to life. "Oh, what pretty tears." He made cuts on the crying man's neck with the stake, "Just what I wanted out of you, darling. That's it." He softly kissed Owen.

And kissed him.

And kissed him.

And kissed him.

And Owen couldn't do anything about it.

He was going to die, anyways.

He was going to lose Louis again, anyways.

He was going to lose everything. All because he wanted to avenge his lover.

(He tells himself it was for Louis, but he knows Louis well enough tha he knows he gave himself up for the town; he'd never want Owen to slaughter them. But Owen believes that's what they deserved, anyways, and that, even if he loved Louis, sometimes he could be blinded by his optimistic outlook on humans.)

Scott pulled back and wiped a tear from Owen's face with his thumb. "Beautiful." He got closer to Owen, pushing his curly chestnut hair back before whispering in his pointed ear, "I bet you'll never see him again." He pushed a kiss to Owen's cheek and then backed up to look at him.

His face barely changed, still crying, but silent besides a few shaky breaths every now and then. The rage in his eyes grew, and Scott made a displeased smile. "Couldn't put on a better show for me?"

"This is all you'll get out if me."

Scott frowned. "You're lucky I'm bored of you and don't have any of my time's torture weapons."

A small smile made it's way on Owen's face.

Scott placed his lips to Owen's once more, adding pressure to his chest with the stake.

As he pushed the stake, he continued kissing Owen. He would die like this, Scott promised.

And before the blood would spill out,

Before the stake touched his heart,

Before Owen got to finally rid himself of the nuisance that was Scott,

Scott whispered, "I fucking hate you," finishing it off only when their lips touched again.

So he'd die on another mans's lips. Under another man.

And he did.

And Scott pulled back from the dead man's lips to see the beautiful mess of red in his chest, accessoried beautifully with a stake in the middle.

There was no light left in his eyes. The tears on his face dried and his head slumped back.

Scott took a finger and swiped a little blood from Owen's chest just as a little taste.

Already beginning to taste ashy. But he could taste the sweetness and iron laying beneath it.

He got up from sitting on Owen and dusted his hands off.

"Reminder to self: never feel for another person again," Scott muttered as he walked away.
