Nightfall’s practically foaming at the mouth, it’s been months since her unmitigated defeat at their tennis match, and she has been itching to get even with Yor Briar ever since. She’s been practicing her returns with a boulder strapped to her racket every morning before missions and her day job for her disguise.
After Twilight’s assignment to Operation Strix, WISE’s already dwindling pool of agents were spread even thinner. They needed Twilight for a critical mission, Ostania’s to host an international poker tournament in one week’s time. It’s rumored that local rebels and Westalis extremists would send representatives to play and exchange information that would threaten the peaceful balance between the nations, and Twilight needed to be there to ensure he intercepted the intel first and prevent any high profile fatalities.
Anya’s been invited to Becky’s home for a sleepover for the same evening, the family’s security was up to snuff especially after the bus hijacking, impeccable timing really. There’s just one huge problem, Yor Briar. How was a normal man going to tell his wife he can’t be available on the rare occasion they’re both home alone with childcare accounted for?
Needless to say, Nightfall blushed and immediately accepted the assignment upon hearing her reliable and overworked senpai recommended her for the role. It’s not like she could do many combat driven missions given her injuries. She will make herself useful for her beloved senpai, for the survival of the country really.
So, that’s how she finds herself here, at the ‘Forgers’ doorstep on a Friday evening, picking up Yor Briar for an extended babysitting session. It’s okay, girls night meant there’s less time for Yor to occupy from Twilight senpai, this totally fine.
“Good evening, Yor.”
“Oh Fiona! Right on time. I’m just putting on my shoes, and we can head over.”
Before Nightfall can brace for it, “hello, Fiona. You two ladies have fun, and stay out of trouble.” Ah, Twilight looks just as beautiful as usual. His peaceful smile is one of her favorites, somehow comforting while still carrying a level of authority. Decoded: ‘Thanks for covering. I’ll need 3 hours maximum.’
“Yes, Loid. We’ll be sure to take precautions on our way there.” ‘I’ll make it 5, senpai.’ Overachieving is her love language after all.
“Bye, Loid, see you later!” He waves good-bye and locks the door behind them.
Ah, you sure are carefree, huh, Yor Briar? Leaving Loid here without any dinner prepared, despicable. Nightfall would definitely be a more suitable wife. As they set off towards their first destination.
They arrive at the spa, the herbaceous smell and warm steam a welcome reprieve from the chilly walk through the city’s frozen streets. The spa & sauna is legendary for its ambiance and extensive offerings, over 12 different baths with various temperatures and solutions to soothe and relax. The all-women’s oasis was founded and maintained for nearly as long as the country’s existence. The traditional architecture and tiling are stunning, especially where the open-air sauna had all sorts of decorative plants, adding back some organic beauty.
The attendants check both of them in, grabbing their thick coats and guiding them to the dressing rooms.
“Fiona, this is my first time doing something like this. Is there anything I need to do before I get in?” Yor asks bashfully.
It’s a bit unusual. There’s a prominent bath culture in the country, so most citizens are well-practiced in the local etiquette by adulthood. Nightfall tucks that thought away for the time being as she instructs the other woman, “We’ll start with cleaning ourselves off and washing our hair. Let’s undress first, the bathing area is right before the outdoor pools.”
They strip down the various layers used to keep out the biting winter cold. Nightfall observes Yor, beneath the boxy layer of her sweater and thermal, she’s a sturdy thing. Taller than most, the same height as her to be exact. It irritated her, the height gap between them and Twilight senpai is ideal even when she’s wearing taller shoes. Nightfall knows this as fact, she’s measured. Multiple times. Far more well built than what she’d expect for a civil servant.
They put on the sauna provided robes and head to the showers.
Yor’s hair is long, the dark locks are usually neatly swept in a bun aside from her bangs. It’s so long that it glides down her bellybutton almost reaching her hips. She clumsily washes the seemingly endless strands, the foam lathering makes it look even darker, pitch black.
“You’ll have to wear your hair up in the baths.” Nightfall instructs.
“Okay.” Yor runs conditioner through her hair, how can it not get tangled at that infinite length? She nimbly manages the strands into a singular plait, rolling the more manageable form into itself to form a bun. The beauty of it almost makes Nightfall envious, she’d never considered growing her hair long, too tedious to maintain during missions and extra efforts to tuck away in a wig for disguises. Nightfall scrubs herself thoroughly, trying to wash away the envy along with it.
They enter the main portion of the sauna, all twelve pools laid out for convenience, “we’ll take some time in each pool. They’re all laid out in recommended order, but you’re welcome to choose any pool you enjoy the most. Just be sure to stay hydrated, and find me before you do the cold plunge.”
Yor meekly nods, and decides to trail Nightfall, worried she’ll accidentally do something incorrectly on her own. They both sink into the first bath, lukewarm and mildly steeped with Juniper. Nightfall has to admit, this does feel rather nice on her recovering body. She can’t remember the last time she went to a spa or bathhouse, or much time to relax at all.
For the first twenty minutes or so, they sit in the pool in silence, enjoying the tension leaving their bodies. Wait, this is a mission, not a retreat. She gets her cogs turning, she’s here for reconnaissance on her sworn nemesis, focus. “Let’s head to the next pool?” Yor wordlessly follows.
“Yor, did you grow up here?”
“Not in the heart of the city, but yes, I was born and raised here.”
“And you never visited a sauna before?”
“No, we grew up very modestly and my parents passed away young, so we didn’t get to do many activities.”
Ah, that makes sense. ‘We’ presumably meant her and her brother, the military agent. “Ah, I see. Well, I’m glad we could come together then.” She swears a slight flush is creeping up Yor’s neck. “Are you okay? Is this pool too warm for you?”
“No! No, this is comfortable.” She sinks a little deeper into the pool to hide the blooming color. Nightfall watches as Yor’s ample chest resists sinking into the water along with her, the buoyancy fighting her. Now that she observes more closely, that’s the only place she seems to have any fat. Yor’s frame is packed with sizable muscle, something she didn’t notice earlier accustomed to her own athletic frame. Now that they’re surrounded by other regular women, her physique radiates power. Not only that, there’s small scars and scratches everywhere, especially her hands. Twilight senpai’s told her that Yor can’t be trusted with many domestic tasks, risking poisoning the household, so they must be from manual labor at work. Just what do they have her do as a civil servant?
They make hushed small talk going from pool to pool so not to bother any other guests. Nightfall picks at the most intimate details that are socially acceptable, trying to gather any vulnerabilities to leverage later. She tracks other details too, for future reference in case she needs to organize other distraction events, like Yor’s favorite musicians and cuisines and her hobbies. Better to stay prepared.
Finally, they make it to the cold plunge. This is Nightfall’s favorite portion of her visits, the shocking cold bringing her to the brink of pain to be soothed by a camomile bath just moments later. She warns Yor, “Generally, you want to try to stay in for a minute or so for the therapeutic benefits as a beginner. There’s a stop watch on the side, but don’t push it. Get out if you feel any extreme discomfort.” Yor nods vigorously, watching intently, Nightfall goes in first to demonstrate. After 4 minutes, her shoulder injury starts to bother her. Her heartbeat is rabid in her chest in an exhilarating thrill. She steps out with a smile as other patrons walk by gawking at the intensity of her plunge.
Yor puts on a brave face and enters the plunge with a startled gasp. Nightfall chuckles, that’s right, your frail self probably can’t handle the thrill of it. She watches the clock to make sure Yor doesn’t overdo it, no point in taking the babysitting mission and accidentally giving her hypothermia.
Yor finally gets out on her own after 5 minutes, “wow, what a unique sensation!” Nightfall’s jaw is on the floor, alongside any of the lingering patrons. She looks Yor up and down to make sure there’s no visible signs of discomfort, the only thing that even gives away she’s remotely cold is her pebbled nipples. They slink into the hot bath to warm back up. Nightfall is crestfallen at Yor’s show of dominance, had she known they were taking this seriously, she would have made Yor go first. There’s no way this is her first time plunging.
Eventually, the massage therapists call out for the two of them for their appointment, and that’s the only thing that pulls Nightfall out of her sulking.
After their massages, they dry off and redress bracing for the cold walk back. If they leave now, it'll be 4 hours and 47 minutes once they arrive back at the Forger residence. Nightfall, get yourself together she commands internally. You promised Twilight senpai you would give him at least 5 hours.
“Yor, I’m a little hungry. How about we grab something to eat before we head back?”
“Oh, sure! That sounds lovely.”
With how late it is in the evening, they don’t have many options. They decide to drop into a tavern just next door not knowing if they would be another open kitchen for quite a while. A lovely elderly couple run the tavern, it’s been family owned across three generations, and the food is all from their original recipes.
They split small plates amongst the two of them, savory potato dishes, petit skewers of perfectly grilled meat and finger foods, all specialties to the owner’s home country. The warm and rich flavors heat up their bellies on the frigid night. Suddenly a bottle of wine arrives at the table.
“Excuse me, we didn’t order this?”
“It’s on the house. It’s so nice to see girlfriends out and about together, having a nice time. Enjoy yourselves!” The elderly lady says with a warm-hearted smile.
It would be rude to decline the gift, and just as rude to not finish the gift. They set to drinking.
There’s only one problem. Yor Briar is a certified fucking lightweight. Yor manages to barely finish a glass of the full-bodied wine before nearly passing out at the table, and Nightfall downs the rest to show her respects before she practically carries the other woman home. Just more evidence on how Yor Briar is not the proper match to pose as Twilight’s wife. What grown woman can’t hold one drink?
They finally reach the ‘Forger’ home, Yor mumbling apologetically that she’s the worst and how Fiona should have abandoned her on the frozen streets and not bothered with the trouble of carrying her home. As if. She’d never disappoint Twilight senpai like that.
The Forger’s neighbor is kind enough to hold the apartment complex entry way door open seeing as Fiona’s hands are full.
“My, my, Mrs. Forger, be careful to pace yourself!” The noisy neighbor was bound to gossip about it with the other busy bodies in the building.
When they finally reach the front door, Nightfall is winded. Damn it, she’s gotten out of shape since she’s been put on rest for her injuries. She feels the alcohol hitting her too now, must have metabolized fast with the extra weight and movement. She breathes deeply patting down Yor’s coat pockets, but there’s no key!
“Hey, Yor. Where’s your key?”
“In my purse!” She says with drunken enthusiasm.
“And where’s your purse?”
“On the dining table!”
Oh shit. Twilight was the one who locked the door on their way out. She knocks on the door, curious if he’d returned. No response. Nightfall was not going to call him during a critical time like this, a call at the wrong time could jeopardize the entire point of tonight’s mission. She slumps over next to Yor, feeling defeated.
Yor feels a rush of guilt, willing her limp body to move to look Fiona in the eyes. “I’m so sorry, Fiona, are you mad at me?”
“No, Yor. It was an accident, I’m sure.” Truthfully, no. Nightfall was annoyed at the inconvenience, but she fulfilled her promise to Twilight. It’s been six hours, and he wasn’t back. Was he okay? She gazes away, worried about what might have happened to keep him twice as long as he initially expected.
Suddenly, Yor crawls and mounts her with beady eyes, “Fiona, it’s okay if you’re mad. I know I’m a bother, I’m really sorry.”
It’s way too much contact, Nightfall isn’t used to touching so much of another person outside of a fight. It catches her off guard, she doesn’t even realize she hasn’t given a proper response.
Yor grips Fiona’s wrists tight, releasing her full weight on the her, “You know, I don’t have many friends. It made me so happy when you invited me, Fiona.”
Nightfall writhes underneath her, trying to break free from the hold. It’s like a grapple, she can’t break.
Yor relaxes her head against the wall behind Fiona, but strengthens the grip she has around the back of Fiona with her thighs. They’re pressing chest to chest now. Fiona heats up, remembering the sizable breasts from earlier, “Can we do this again? I had so much fun! I promise I won’t forget next time, hm?”
Her heartbeat is thudding hard, the alcohol washing a warmth throughout her entire body. She’s been trained for bomb threats, come on, do something Nightfall.
She’s tired of fighting, her muscles feel limp from the walk home and she likes the lightheaded feeling from the wine. She releases the tension and stops fighting against the other woman’s control. “Yes, let’s do this again, Yor.” She looks up to face the woman. Yor Briar has fucking fallen asleep.
Twilight arrives ten minutes later, running as he hears the commotion from the lobby.
Relief washes over her to see him intact. “What happened?”
“She forgot the key.”
“You know, she surpisingly does that a lot unless Anya’s with her.” He chuckles.
“Loid! Fiona took me to the yummiest place!” She screams as Loid reaches to pick her off the floor.
“Oh, is that so, where?”
“That tavern with the blue signage in the old quarter.”
“Franky told me great things about that place, maybe we’ll go together next time.”
The offer sends shivers from her ears, down her spine. She thinks about Yor’s flushed face and how her body was pressed up against hers. No way she’s letting Twilight see that expression.
“Um.. Loid, that's our spot for girls’ night.”
He smiles, he’s glad to see they’re getting along better now.
Nightfall says her goodnights to both of them. On her walk home she finds herself thinking - Yor Briar, you are a dangerous woman, a formidable rival. Nightfall will train to best her on their next girls’ next.
