Work Text:
“Baby, Keonie, my sweetest angel, as much as I love you, this really isn’t going to work,” Seonghyeon commented, although his endearment for the younger currently holding — or attempting to — his hand made the statement useless.
“No Hyeonie, you don’t get it! Spread your legs wider like me!” Keonho complained, his signature pout already present on his lips as he turned and stepped away from his place in front of Seonghyeon to face him properly to scan through his form.
Seonghyeon sighed fondly but obliged anyway, inching his feet further apart to appease his boyfriend.
Keonho scrutinised his form, pink, glossed-over lips pursing even more as he tilted his head to the side, straightened fractions of hair falling into his eyes as he did so.
“Hmm… something’s off but I don’t know what. Nevermind! Back to position!” Keonho shrugged before stepping back into Seonghyeon’s bubble, back against the older’s chest.
Seonghyeon’s hands instinctively flew to hold the younger boy’s waist to keep him steady as they bumped into each other, his own feet shifting to better accommodate for their shared weight.
“The bat please, Hyeon,” Keonho requested, pointing at the plastic junk they had bought for fun once with his casted hands.
With a stretch of his arm, mainly because Seonghyeon didn’t want to remove his hold from Keonho’s waist, he twisted around to retrieve the poor excuse of a bat.
Without another word from Keonho, he placed the bat in between Keonho’s bandaged hands and immediately wrapped his own around Keonho’s to better support the bat.
“Okay, your legs are in the same position as mine, aren’t they, Hyeonie?” Keonho asked, barely making a move to turn his head back to look at Seonghyeon’s stance, too focussed on not letting the bat slip through his three fingers even though he knew Seonghyeon was holding onto it as well.
The older hummed in response—they clearly weren’t—his feet were pointing inwards instead of out, his legs too close to get the best momentum.
Instead, he was too busy admiring his boyfriend. From this angle, he was right behind the younger, so he couldn’t see the way Seonghyeon was looking at him. But luckily for Seonghyeon, he was free to ogle as much as he wanted to—he had the best view; Keonho’s long lashes fluttering with every blink, the younger had curled them earlier and they framed his eyes beautifully.
Speaking of Keonho’s eyes, Seonghyeon loved them. They were so big and round, the epitome of innocence, a total contrast to the menace that he was. Don’t even get him started on when they would sparkle at the mention of anything that excited Keonho.
He drowned out half of whatever Keonho was talking about now, his words a muted hum in his lovesick brain as he focussed on the adorable pout playing on his boyfriend’s lips, batting can’t be that hard, could it?
He wanted to kiss him right now. Keonho hadn’t kissed him since this morning when they greeted each other after they had woken up. He’s been so deprived of Keonho’s affection ever since it was made known that he had to pitch a ball this week. Keonho had been adamant on teaching him and perfecting his technique as the quote-unquote “best pitcher”.
Which proved to be a much greater hurdle than Seonghyeon ever expected. It was one thing to be taught by Keonho, but it was a whole nother thing to be coached by a hand-less Keonho, who could barely hold the bat properly with his two bandaged hands pressed together.
So he proposed a “wonderful” idea, telling Seonghyeon to copy his stance and follow through with his swings, which was basically Seonghyeon half-hugging him from behind and supporting his movements when hitting the ball with the bat.
And Keonho did ask if it was working, but Seonghyeon had been too obsessed with the skin-on-skin contact this way of teaching gave him, the contact that he has been deprived of owing to the fact that they had been way too swamped with tour stuff to even hold each other’s hands lately. No pun intended.
And so he had agreed that this way of coaching was indeed effective and Keonho gladly agreed. And Seonghyeon did try! He did his best to mimic Keonho’s stance and the way he swung his bat, but about fifteen minutes in, he gave up and just stared at his boyfriend’s gorgeous profile instead.
Which is no different from what he’s doing right now. Gosh, he really wants to kiss Keonho.
“-Hyeon. Eom Seonghyeon!” Keonho’s whine finally brought him out of his reverie and he shifted his eyes up to see Keonho’s neck craning back to look at him.
“Yes, princess?” He asked shamelessly, acting as if he hadn’t been caught in the act of staring relentlessly at the younger.
Keonho’s expression instantly softened, doe eyes darting away and a ruby flush climbing up his neck. Seonghyeon thinks he’s the prettiest ever.
“Were you even listening to me?” Keonho pouts instead, pink lips jutting out and it’s making Seonghyeon’s usually amazing control crack bit by bit.
“Of course I was, baby,” He lied smoothly, rubbing his thumb over Keonho’s cast to soothe him.
But of course his boyfriend knows that he’s lying, he always does.
Keonho squints at him before sighing and turning around. Seonghyeon takes the bat and drops it onto the floor, letting it clatter softly against the wood.
“Seonghyeon, what’s wrong? Your mind’s been so scattered lately. We don’t have to practice if you don’t want to,” Keonho started gently, tugging lightly on the hem of Seonghyeon’s tank top.
‘If you don’t want to?’ That was exactly the opposite of his problem—Seonghyeon wanted this too much. He wanted to spend time with his boyfriend again after being apart due to their relentless activities and promotions, especially now with the high from their finished tours and their anniversary rounding right up the corner. He wants to hold Keonho in his embrace like he always did before their schedules started eating up any bits of time he could spend with him.
So Seonghyeon pulls him in instead, looping his arms around the younger’s slim waist and resting his head on the juncture of his shoulder. He feels Keonho melt into it.
“Of course I want this, baby. I missed you so much, doing this coaching thing with you just makes it look less like an excuse to be with you and more like practice, so I’ll take it,” he murmurs, voice slightly muffled by the cotton of Keonho’s (or was it his own?) shirt.
He feels a tiny giggle escape from Keonho and slowly, the younger wraps his arms around his shoulders, bandaged hands resting loosely at the base of his neck.
“Then you could’ve just said so, Hyeonie. I missed you too, so much. I just didn’t want to be selfish either since you looked like you had so much on your plate.”
They stay like that for a while, tucked away in their own little bubble in the mess of their living room before Seonghyeon lifts his head up.
“You know what would make me feel so much better right now?”
Keonho blinks at him owlishly, eyes wide and confused, “What?”
Seonghyeon smirks as the younger one falls right into his trap. Winding his arms tighter around Keonho’s middle, he pulls him in closer, chest against chest.
“I want a kiss. You haven’t kissed me since we said our ‘good morning’s.”
Keonho flushes a beautiful rose, ears turning redder than ever at the comment.
“Ugh, Eom Seonghyeon!” He whines, hiding his face into the older’s chest as the embarrassment and the intensity of Seonghyeon’s stare becomes too much.
Seonghyeon only laughs but frees up one hand to cup Keonho’s cheek, lifting his head from the home he’s found against Seonghyeon’s chest.
Keonho rolls his eyes to play off the beautiful flush rising high on his cheeks but doesn’t push away as Seonghyeon brings him in impossibly closer.
When their lips meet, Seonghyeon feels all the tension escaping his body. The kiss was a sweet and slow dance of affection—unspoken ‘I love you’s being delivered through it.
Seonghyeon loves kissing Keonho. He loves how pliant and soft Keonho gets when they kiss, how he instinctively tenses up at first before relaxing into it, how he kisses Seonghyeon with such love and reverence it makes Seonghyeon feel light-headed and dizzy.
Keonho’s free index finger toys lightly at the short hairs growing at the back of Seonghyeon’s head. He cut it recently and Keonho couldn’t stop gushing about how boyishly handsome he looked with shorter hair.
Slowly, Seonghyeon backed up until he felt the back of his knees hit the leather of the couch and with a firm grip on Keonho’s waist, he lowered them down onto the upholstery, effectively making Keonho straddle him.
Their kiss deepened and they finally part to breath, Seonghyeon wasting no time in littering kisses all over the exposed expanse of Keonho’s neck.
“Hyeonie,” Keonho called out weakly, body instinctively seeking the warmth of his boyfriend.
“Yes, princess?” Seonghyeon replies between featherlight touches and gentle nips.
“Your baseball-”
He’s immediately cut off with another long kiss, before Seonghyeon rests their foreheads together and whispers, “I’ll figure it out.”
⚾️
Their coaching sessions never really stopped after that, it just continued for 10 minutes before Seonghyeon decided he needed his daily dose of Keonho which led to them cuddling on the couch with the plastic baseball bat lying uselessly at their feet.
And Seonghyeon, in fact, did not figure it out. Quite the opposite, actually, considering his horrendous fumble that had Keonho laughing for a good twenty minutes before he coaxed the rare pout out of his boyfriend’s face with loads of kisses and a promise of a movie night with unlimited cuddles.
But did Seonghyeon regret it?
No. Not really.
